I am quite fond of 1990s designs. I post my bike here pretty often but realized I haven't given a write-up on it.
My baiku is a 2004 Kawasaki ZZr600, also known as the ZX600E, the ZX6E (before the zx6r) and the Ninja ZX-6. The basically made this bike from 1990 until 2007 in various forms, under various names.
This means that parts are very cheap, thankfully, and it's easy to fix.
I got mine from a teenager who was a good kid, but it was too much bike for him, and his mom had backed her truck into it, which messed up the right side fairings. I've fixed it all up (poor kid didn't know how to set the rear shock and preload, and thought that the bike had been lowered).
I believe the owner before him repainted it, as most of these aren't in Kawasaki Firecracker Red, but I love the look of it. It's nice to get a bike that's not 30 years old, but looks like it's 30 years old.
Thanks for reading my blog

176 and relatively long legs, but i can't plant both feet on the vfr so i was always skittish about trying to ride it. sv is comfortably low, both feet on the ground and even a bit of a knee bend, as a bike should be.

Never buy Chinese, huh? Posting some speculation about the new Harley models over the next three years, pic related.
Starting from the top right, I would expect the return of the road king based trike, the free wheeler, which, like the road king, was not brought back for 2026. Probably next to that is a new high trim road king in the touring segment.
Then for the oval lower in the touring segment, i expect a return of the Road King, I don't think anyone thinks it's gone for good. I don't know where they go for a new high price range soft tail, it feels like a pretty full lineup towards the top. Maybe a more dressed up touring soft tail, or a rev max power soft tail.
Moving down in soft tail between the street bob and the low rider i expect this to be the "low bob" that they filed a trademark for. Not doing rocket science there.
What's interesting after that is the sub 10k soft tail oval that they've drawn. That's substantially cheaper than the current cheapest soft tail. I think they may be counting the return of the Iron 883 at 10k under the soft tail family here, because of the way they've broken things down. The only other place it can go is between the nightster and the nightster s on this chart, and it seems less likely to me that theyre filing it under rev max, rather than soft tail.
So that leaves probably another 975 rev max engine, I could only hope, personally, for a mid sized ADV, that would be a dream for me. Then there's perhaps a couple more uses for the 1250 rev max. Given this is a "capital light" plan, I think it might be the dressed up pan america they've been showing off, which is not my cup of tea, but besides that I don't know what else fits. Perhaps an sportster s which leans more into the sport, with narrower tires and tightened up geometry.
What do you guys think? Where does harley go with "20 new models and trim lines over the next three years?"
What do you think of the sprint in America? I've been considering a RE for the vibe, and I would take a sprint

NTA but the Pan America is currently the 2nd best selling full size ADV in America. Harley sells about 2/3 of it's bikes in America, working out to about 3k pan Americas, 45.5k touring bikes, and 27k soft tails. Dividing 27k soft tails by 7 models gives an average sale of 3.9k of each model. So the Pan America, which is one model, is individually comparable to any given soft tail. The touring bikes roundly outdo them both, the 2025 numbers include various trims three models (the road king, the street glide, and the road glide), meaning each touring model sells more than 15k bikes, 5 times more than the pan america, and almost 5 times more than the soft tails. The new sportsters sell approximately the same as the Pan America and the soft tails, about 3000 on average between the nighsters and the sporstster s.
>>28969380
Harley is adding "20 models and trims" in the next three years. I speculate based on a graphic they used.
>>28969381
I'm 5'9 with a 28" giga manlet inseam and I find the pan america very comfortable, as long as it has the variable ride height. One foot down only for me, but I'm used to that.
>>28969394
The picture implies at least one more bike in the basic pan am price range with the 1250 rev max motor, so it seems they're planning to expand the line. I think they're going to go with the dressed up pan am cafe racer they've been showing off.
>>
>>
>>28969426
yeah youre right real life isnt like the internet
on the internet, retards think panams are popular
in real life, theres 5 sitting on my local harley showfloor that havent shifted since 2022, even on test rides and I've not seen one in the wild since their release

>>

the GS outsells the pan america about two to one, but registration data suggests about 2500 Africa Twins a year, the next best seller.
BMW sold 14,869 motorcycles in the USA in 2025. Besides Harley, they're the only company that releases fairly in depth numbers on sales, instead of just revenue. If a full one half of their sales are GSs (they dont release a model by model breakdown), then its 7500 GSs to the 3000 pan americas.

here are the numbers, you can double check the math. i took the US numbers vs the international numbers and as a simplifying assumption said that the relative ratios of motorcycles sold in america reflect their international vs domestic sales
https://investor.harley-davidson.com/news/news-details/2026/Harley-Dav idson-Delivers-Fourth-Quarter-and-F ull-Year-Financial-Results-and-2026 -Outlook/default.aspx
And here is visordown reporting BMW's sales numbers for the US

as you can see harley's comes from investors reports, i guess you can presume theyre lying to their investors, like the federal crime, but i think reported sales numbers are reliable enough to form opinions

It's amazing. The Goldilocks sport bike. Everything is just perfectly balanced on it. The zx14 is maximum comfy, but it's a little big and heavy for some of the tight splitting that daily commuting comes with, so I usually end up taking the gsxr. The only other modification I want to do to it is some raised clip ons. It's fine like it is, it's much more comfortable than any of the other sport bikes. However, with all the commuting I do on it, I feel like I could maximize the comfort easily for not much money with some taller clipons.

I don't know what the fairing clearance is like on a stock current gen bike but just having the clipons straighter incidentally raises their height a bit and tends towards being more comfortable if reach isn't too bad, most stock supersports still have excessive amounts of pullback for modern riding for some reason.

Anyone ever wrap a motorcycle?
I just fixed up my dad's old Honda Shadow and got the thing in as good mechanical condition as I could. Rides fantastically now, however, it still looks like a piece of shit. Paint is sunfaded and scratched, and some of the badge stickers are fucked from a drop.
I'm not going to paint it or pay for that, and the actual surface area that would need to be wrapped is fairly smooth and small. How hard would it be for me to do this, and should I?

Here's the thing, my dad didn't "earn" any of them. He's the third or fourth owner of it and it was just a cheap bike he got when my mom accepted my brother and I were old enough, so he could have a real bike again 10 years ago. It was already beat to shit when he got it, and until 4 days ago was a death trap for many of the years he owned it due to poor/lack of maintenance. He didn't fuck it up, and well now the bike is safe (and actually a pleasure) to ride, I don't want him bopping about on something that looks like a piece of shit when now it's a pretty bike.

And now it's alive and roadworthy once again.
An old Honda Shadow born again after all these years.
It's up to you in the end, but most of the bikes I've owned have let me know what they want.
Sometimes they want the restoration, sometimes they want to let everyone else on the road know they don't die so easy.
Just make sure to listen to the Honda.

Jeans wont do anything to stop you breaking your legs, but proper leathers wont add much against that, either.
What leathers WILL do, is stop the road grinding through your skin and into your bone instantly at 20mph, and provide impact resistance on critical areas like knees/hips. People fall over walking and get pavement rash through their jeans.
Sounds like you need motorcycle training before you do anything, I don't mean that as a negative only that you come across as very unsure.
For gear, at a minimum for slower commuting, a jacket (textile or leather), gauntlet gloves and at a minimum, AA-rated textiles pants.

Seems to depend on your age. I've been in multiple motorcycle accidents.
I hurt my ankle my first crash, so now I wear boots.
On my second crash I hurt my hands mostly, but also my hip, although I didn't break it like that other anon.
For sure wear a helmet, that's a given.
Since scooters are lighter, I'd recommend gloves before boots, although I'd also recommend boots if you have the funds.
Hip protection is important if you don't have skateboarder level reaction time.
I feel like something that isn't talked about enough is the disconnection from your bike.
Connection to your bike allows you to push the limit
Disconnection from your bike allows you to survive the outcome
You cannot, and should not feel "strapped in" during a crash.
Stuff like this is why low-speed gymkhana courses are so important. It's the only way to prepare for thing like your bike being 89 degrees parallel to the pavement.

Hey there.

Look at my first "real" bike.
It's got 13000 km (130 mln hamburgers) on the odometer.
What should I expect service-wise? I read online these are a bit oil-hungry and the front fork may get leaky eventually, but nothing serious.

the forks can leak because they are inverted and get hit with road grime that gets under the seals so to avoid that you have to keep dirt off the tubes with fork gaiters. maintenance wise you will probably just do oil, chain and maybe sprockets if they are worn. regrease the steering head bearings and front and rear axle, lubricate all the hinges and moving bits, change the coolant and brake fluid, give all the bolts you can a quick torque check and thats about it. check the manual for your bike specifically.

It doesn't matter how well you take care of yourself. Sometimes stuff just starts hurting when you get older.

Consider something less sporty if you've got back issues that are that bad.

Lmao anon way to prove his point, imagine being scared of doing yoga because it's "pussy shit", imagine what the guys at the glue eating factory will think of me if I took care of my body, it's much better to be in preventable pain at least I'm not a pussy that takes control of my own life or anything.

All the guy wanted to do was sit a little bit differently than you do. You responded to this by throwing a fit about how anyone who does anything differently than you is fat and uneducated. You do not own a bike and I think you should kill yourself.

it's a 2024 model so I'd like to keep the warranty, I've already had to get the clutch plates replaced under warranty because of a bad batch, I'm holding on to that warranty for what ever time I have left, just in case.

>if you know a good mechanic, going aftermarket really seems to be the way these days with how everything is batch-cooked with chinese monkey metal
They're allowed(????) to install aftermarket bits without voiding the warranty, I've been in talks with them to install just the springs from aftermarket brands, and not the official yamaha bits which is the whole ass ohlins shock, I can do front and rear springs for less than just that shock.

it's just gonna be aids wearing them to work, if it's unbearable I might just change quickly in the stall or something

I would say get a cheap ass Suzuki and get top tier gear. The gear remains and the bikes change. Depending on how rich you are get a KYT, LS2 or HJC on low end, Arai, Shoei or AGV at the highend.
For jacket, if you are poor find used, if you are a rich bitch, get AStars one and a plasma tech air 5.
For boots, get some ADV boots. Easy to change out of and just change into your normal boots. IMO my suggestions are Gaerne Dakar, which I have, or Fastback or just tech air 7.
For riding jeans, try used, or just get some kevlar ones, revit or klim if you are rich. Poors, IDK.
Gloves, get good ones, with Knox sps sliders and leather palm.
Spend atleast $1000 on gear anon.

>Could I realistically break my legs if I wear regular jeans?
the human body begins to break up at 18mph, but motorcycle gear isnt designed to prevent breaks, its generally to reduce the damage to your skin in a slide
(imo) in order of importance: Helmet > Boots > Gloves > Jacket > Trousers
aim for at least AA rated on your gear
however, dont underestimate how uncomfortable you're going to be if you ride to work in torrential rain and dont have a drybag of clothes to change in to at work

dont over think it
if you are actually plan to daily commute in it everyday
you have to factor in comfort too
all the ATGGATTATG dutchs will tell you to dress up
but you have to weight in how fast do you really ride
cause putting on your full gears just for 10 mins ride to work everyday is just not realistic to actually do
weekend warrior is fine with dress up like power ranger once a week
meanwhile you will probably just do it for maybe first couple of weeks
and by the end of second month you are lucky if you even bother put on helmet at all
so just get light jacket and helmet maybe gloves too, all could be put under the trunk
and then maybe just keep one rain gear to layer on top when it rain under the seat all the time
>>
>>
>>
>>28970776
>and by the end of second month you are lucky if you even bother put on helmet at all
this is only if you're really retarded, boots/helmet/gloves is just way too easy to do every time and those are the most crucial

I'd rather pay more if it means my machine isn't built in a sweatshop by a gook that doesn't wanna be there
Free world labor ain't cheap, and that's a good thing. Besides, you buy a chink bike for half price and it lasts a quarter as long seems like a terrible choice for anyone with 3 digits in their IQ
>>
>>
>>28970808
Chink crap costs 1-2k less than japanese god machines whole having zero resell potential. You literally pay more with chink crap because you are forced to sell it 5p% cheaper than you'd sell a japanese god machine. But if chink crap buyers would be smarter they wouldn't buy chink crap in the first place.

you can easily fit up something custom if you find a picture of someone else that had decent ones or rig a little plastic shield to keep them from getting whacked directly by rocks and stuff
>>
>>28970875
That was an issue with all the bricks, but they weren't true boxers.
Man, I skipped all the cheap K1 and bricks back in the day, you could get some really nice K75 and K100 for like 500 bucks and the K1 was like a grand tops.

The desire to get a Ural is coming back, but the only one I can afford is a 2000 model.
It seems like a fun chill of road experience, but talk me out of it because I want something that isn’t gonna leave me stranded and I don’t wanna wrench on crap.
