A better question is why is anyone in moto gp, the only thing they have on a street bike is pneumatic valve control and it's decades old now never coming to the street costs 1m+ a dedicated race team to keep it running just to lap ~3 seconds faster than a street bik, pointless

I thought the same too. Wouldn't actually be a terrible idea if you wanted to be able to remove it more quickly. Just get the shackle length as close as you can and then slide some rubber tubing over to pad out the gap.

The CRF300L should be fine as a first bike. My first bike is the KLX 300 which is very similar to the Honda. Just understand that highway travel will suck and is best avoided. One of the rare instances of having a slightly heavier bike being an actual advantage vs. just coping about it. I've been considering either getting a KTM 390 Enduro or taking the plunge and buying a DR650. Both can handle highways better. The new DRZ4S is fine but just know that it's expensive as fuck compared to all the other bikes and the seat height is definitely oriented more towards offroad travel which can be difficult for a beginner rider.

>I don't know what the fairing clearance is like on a stock current gen bike but just having the clipons straighter incidentally raises their height a bit and tends towards being more comfortable if reach isn't too bad, most stock supersports still have excessive amounts of pullback for modern riding for some reason.
The fairing clearance on my gixxer would only be a problem for the master cylinder, but I could get a different bracket or bend the OEM bracket.
You can see in this picture that both bikes have quite a bit of down angle to the clamps. Best example I can think of is Gixxer Brah's K5 1000 for the kind of bars I want. I think he put woodcraft clipons on his. They clamp below the tree but are raised up around the side and they look really comfy. I'm okay with a chink pipe from eBay but something about chink clipons for a serious sport bike doesn't sit well with me. If I'm going to do it, I'll wait until I'm ready to drop the money on woodcraft clipons.

>>

Revzila.
Most motorcycle shops sell gear.
All sellable helmets will be ece26
Gloves get something with a hard piece of plastic at the plam and psudo knuckle dusters.
Boots get something mid length
Pants as the last anon said AA or better but also check the armour as they will put cheaper are in to save on cost.
Jacket is the same as pants and nothing is as good as dead animal skin (leather).
Best tip try stuff on in store and buy online later and that's how you save money.

I figure if HD were to ever make dirt bikes again they would go for that old school 50/50 on/off road dual sport like the old 650's. Especially since their ADV bike was wildly popular for them. It's not that out there to assume they might actually do something like that. Especially if they don't fuck it up...

Check if there is a Cycle Gear store near you. Trying things on is important, because motogear almost universally runs small. Yoy might be able to convince them to order in an item to try before you buy. They did that for me once, and it saved me ftom dealing with returning an item through the mail. Good guys at the one in KC/OP.
Don't buy anything at a Harley dealership that isn't a motorcycle. (Inb4 "not even that hurr hurr") All of their riding gear is over priced, and the dealership likely won't even stock the gear they have that is actually good. I have a branded mesh jacket that's OK, but still can't recommend their stuff over literally any other manufacturer.
>>
>>28971394
>and it saved me ftom dealing with returning an item through the mail
since cycle gear owns revzilla, anything you buy online from either site can be returned to the physical store no problem. i bought two helmets, brought the one that didn't fit to the store and they refunded me. cycle gear rocks (but i wish my store had a better selection of shit in stock)

Alright anons, I need your opinion on this. After the winter my Dragstar XVS1100 would start only with the choke on. As soon as I put the choke off the bike stalls. Only when it warms up I can get the choke off and quickly rev it up, and it will stay in the upper revs but as soon as I leave the gas on idle, it stalls.
What I've done
>Got new gas in
>Cleaned and rebuilt the carbs
>Manifold was replaced last year Fall, so no leaks
>There was no garbage in the carbs, everything was clean
I tried to mess with the fuel/air mixture but that did not help
What does help is if I cover the intake with my hand after I take the air filter off, the bike will run on idle, rev up just fine without the choke. I can feel the air flowing through my hand, and if it is closed entirelly off, it will stall again.
Are there any tips what I could do before I throw it to the local mechanic? Legit had the same issue on my Virago like ten years back, my solution was to sell it back then
>>
>>28971805
isnt that exactly what choke do?
it help bike start cold?
seem like its working as intended
usually it would be dirty or clogged up the jets because fuel left over the winter gunk up and clog the jet but you said you cleaned it
I guess you can also just raise the idle rpm?
just send it to the shop man
>>
>>
>>28971813
Yeah but with the choke on I cannot raise RPMs, it will instantly stall, but if I cover the intake, it works perfectly. But yeah, pretty much what the choke does
But yeah, probably just gonna take it to the shop because I have no fucking clue at this point
>>
>>
>>
>>28971816
if taking off the intake and cover it make it work that probably mean there is air leak or bad seal somewhere
so your bike are getting too much air between the leak and the normal intake and it fizz out, so when you cover up the intake it only get normal amount of air through the leak
seem like too much work to troubleshoot but if you are wrenchlord then you might like doing that shits already

"Destroy" Really bro? Knock that shit off.
>Buy compressor
>Buy vacuum bleeder
Harbor freight.
>Hook bleeder up to caliper nipple
>have a bottle of DOT (whatever your service manual demands here)
>make sure master clyinder has fluid
>loosen bleed nipple
>activate vacuum bleeder
>keep an eye on master clyinder fluid, do NOT let it get empty.
>fill until no more bubbles are in the clear tubing of vacuum bleeder
>close the nipple then do the rear the exact same way
Unless you have linked brakes this is a nothing burger that absolutely shouldn't take MONTHS. Believe in yourself more and quit throwing the match.

And I have a good feeling you goin' die and nobody here will visit your grave. There is 0 reason outside of a true track only club race bike to have handle bars made of anything but metal.
>Muh weight savings
Negligible compared to the risk you take on riding around with shit that snaps from a single dump.
>Vibration
Fuddlore. Whoever told you that (unless you told yourself that) is peak retard or pulling your leg trolling you. If you want to reduce Vibration then buy Quality soft Gel Grips and good gloves with palm padding. Not fucking handlebars.

Hey o/o wassup. I'm approaching 40-years-old and planning on getting my first bike. I have ridden before, but only exactly 4 times when I was a kid. The thing is, I crashed all 4 times. Once I crashed a TTR90 iinto a fence really hard because I got cocky. I was doing very well riding it hard on a little track, in fact it was the only time I had success riding a bike. The other 3 times didn't last very long before I crashed. I grabbed too much front brake while turning in gravel on a XR100 at a high rate of speed. Another time I whisky throttled a cr85 and supermanned it before letting go and letting it roll a 1/4 mile by itself. Lastly, I was sitting on a family members Harley Davidson and dropped it when putting it in 1st gear. Despite all that, I think I'm ready to get a bike for the first time. I've learned from my mistakes by knowing exactly the things I did wrong in hindsight with a mature mind. What are your thoughts of a 600cc supersport as my first bike? a 1000 is too powerful obviously. I'd rather gain some experience on a slower bike.

Not only is it a V4, which is already cool by default.
But they have Gear Driven cams shafts. Meaning no cam chain tensioners, no belts, nothing. Just straight cut gears. You want a 98-01 specfically, before those years it was a 750cc carbbed setup. The 2000 and 2001 ones don't have a choke, and instead has a wax valve.
You got torque 4 dayz. Very down low in the powerband. It kicks on at like 2-2500rpm. The Japanese used them as police bikes because of their rugged construction.
>>
>>
>>28972009
Don't listen to them, Honda VFR is actually a bad motorcycle to have. They buy it to keep it in the garage, wrench since it's always broken, yap on Reddit/4chan about its V4 but don't actually ride it because how impractical it is. It has a geometry of a superbike with stiff saddle and bad knee angles. They are calling it a sport-TOURING bike but it's just a cope. It sounds like a steel bucket with bunch of bolts shaking inside unless you get that one specific VTEC model and change the pipes for lots of money.
Did I already mention how impractical it is? Yeah, it weighs like a real touring BMW motorcyle that has 2x engine capacity, full steel drive shaft and a pair of fucking speakers on the front panel lmao. Don't buy VFR

Yuge upgrade over sportster in terms of suspension, handling, power. Loses a bit of the old school charm of the sportster tho. I had a 1200 before my street bob. It's not going to set any land speed records but it's got more than enough power

First off, I'm gay and retarded. Second; I'm kind of stuck on what I want my second motorcycle to be. Coming from a dual sport, I want a motorcycle that can still handle off road and on road but I also want it to be able to handle long distance highway travel. I don't know if I should get something like a standard bike that kind of looks like a cruiser but isn't or stick with a dual sport but one that's a little heavier and more powerful. ADV bikes just look like trash to me.

That's kind of cool. If you're going to keep it like that I would do a few little bits to make it look less like your side panels are missing. Round out the upper edges of the bellypan, either put your turn signals back on the headlight cowling or chop those bottom bits off, paint the ends of the radiator black. Also fix your front mudguard.

Thinking of the kawasaki eliminator 500 but not 100% on it. I have a crf300l, got it to find out what I like, turns out its street riding. Not really feeling a sports bike but more something with a more neutral riding posture. I Just like cruising around and feeling the windn being free.
>>
>>
>>
>>28972529
Before you go cruisers, go test ride a few bikes. SV650, MT07, CBR650R, F900GS, KTM Super motos. I'd even suggest a RE GT 650 or INT 650 if you are into it. Also, try the Triumph T100 and T120. Go get a few test rides. Naked bikes and ADVs have a neutral riding posture and on cruisers, you sit on your tailbone and it wrecks your back.

Inline four cylinders baikus are cool but they sound like a lawnmower on lower RPMs. And in a lot of cases you will run it on lower RPM and it WILL bother you (for example in a city). Doing it everyday you will allow yourself more and more opening the throttle to build up those sweet RPM. And guess what will happen when a beginner does open throttle on an i4 100 horse power baiku? You WILL 100% end up on someone's car hood or in a ditch.
Get yourself a high torque, low RPM motorcycle as a beginner with fat/big/tall body. Trust.

any of the ~75 hp 2 cylinder bikes will do everything you need, SV650/Monster/R7/CB750 Hornet/GSX-8*/Aprilia 660
Or any iteration of those engines in whatever styling you prefer.
Honorable mention to the ZX4RR or Trident 660, for not being a 2 cylinder

No problem. I think it looks a bit ghetto and at some point I'd like to refit the bellypan, just need to figure out a way to space it out. In case you were wondering it took a full charge from about 5 hours to around 2 and a half. Most of the time I'm charging in the evening after work or overnight so I don't need to charge it that fast but it's handy if I ever forget.

Are you the one yapping about scooters itt all the time? Can you give me a good comfortable scooter that has 500ccm+ engine capacity and costs significantly less than picrel? No, there are a few is us ScooterChads itt.

You won't find a new scooter with 500+cc for under $10k in my market. My 300cc XMAX cost me $9.5k brand new and the 155cc NMAX costs six grand. So a used bike is your only option and I don't know what's available in your local market.
Sorry I can't be more helpful, but you can have my old PCX160 for free if you pay for the shipping fees. It has very minor cosmetic damage but it still runs superbly. Pic related.

That is kinda correct, 300ccm would also work but it's not comfy. On occasional highway it's too dangerous, it might have like a 115 km/h top speed red lining the rev counter. This is why I mentioned 500cc, because it actually makes the ride comfortable in all cases.
