But I don't know what went wrong
Imho Daytona is one of those races, like Le Mans, where if he BoP isn't on your side you're just nowhere for that event and maybe that's what happened to Manthey here. Managed to keep up for most of the race but no extra pace in reserve for the final dash

The first half of this year's Rolex 24 wasn't as good as last year's one, and that fog ruined the first half of the race, but that ending was KINO racing. Unfortunately, Valkyrie's performance was pretty awful, I don't know if it evolved a bit from last year, but since it's their first race at Daytona, I think there might be some hope for the rest of the season.
Also, you guys are really great, I'm really excited for the next sportscars and /turnleft/ events this year. Long live motor/sp/ort!

It already exists. Max driving in NLS9 last year attracted a lot of attention, so there's some money to be made when he races again. This change suck for the drivers that will have a schedule clash with the 12h of Sebring.

I believe a lot of Porsches' success in IMSA has been due to experience and efficiency. They have been working with this car since the inception of the rules set and they displayed typical Penske precision in the pits and on the box. This weekend, they were coordinating the order of the cars on track so that they would be in the order of their pit boxes while other teams were nearly getting into collisions or missing their pit boxed. There is every reason to believe that efficiency is carried over in the engineering department, lending the cars a bit better speed. Looking at their BoP they were very middle of the road in everything, with the BMW being BoPed quite similarly.
Meanwhile, Ferrari spaghetti everywhere and still win le Mans, with the B team last year no less.
Second and third at Daytona '26 were taken by teams who also have been consistently working with the same car since day 1. The 31 Whelen Cadillac and the 24 WRT BMW. The 31 may well have won, but they just could not stop tripping over their own dick, which was mostly on the drivers.
A big shout out to WRT BMW for jumping right in to IMSA and catching a podium and with a new evo package, no less. I think if they can cut out the unforced error *cough* Whelen *cough* Shanks, that RLL was making, they will be real contenders in IMSA this year.
I remember JDC leading some laps, but I didn't notice what caused them to fall off. Can anyone tell me?
I am, however, extremely doubtful that we will ever see an LMDh win le Mans. I'd love to be wrong about that.

Oh yes, thanks. I did see that, but I'm only just now catching up on the threads.
It's really refreshing to see someone talking about what they like about something instead of what they don't like. I agree with you on the things that make NASCAR exciting and fun to watch.
>It's super exciting to see 40 cars driving in a pack knowing that it can all go to hell at any minute if one of the drivers screws up. I like that you can't predict who will win
And I totally agree that Chastain finishing while facing the wrong direction was pretty epic. Some other things that really stood out were Zane Smith's accidental wall ride and Denny screwing himself AND Bubba to allow Chase to swoop in and make the playoffs.
I, too, started watching NASCAR because I was hungry for more vrooms after watching sports cars and the anons on the /turnleft/ threads made it reallyfun.
>What would be great if there's a place where I can watch full replays of Xfinity and Truggs
Great news! NASCAR uploads races within a few days of them running. Typically the very next day.
IDK if they are geoblocked in Germany, but that should be pretty easy to get around.

I really do wonder if the 31 could've gotten the win if they didn't get 10 drive through penalties at the start of the race, that car was really quick as well. What does annoy me is the 6 getting 4th even after pitting 100 times. I know the 6 hour fog caution was what helped them do that but it was kinda annoying even after all that they were still at the front.
>>
>>
>>
>>153170333
Unfortunately, a lot of that, and the reason the 31 managed to finish second, is because there are only 11 cars in class. It's not quite as bad as the days of 4 or 5 top prototypes in WEC or 7 full season entries in IMSA, but the class separation and unlapping really negates the disadvantages of making extra stops or getting penalties. It's way worse for the GTD guys since there were 21 cars in that class. It's a shame more teams and manufacturers don't want to run IMSA. They aren't doing themselves any favors by not allowing small manufacturers like Glickenhaus and Vanwall or brands without a domestic presence run.
I'd really like to see what Aston Martin could do here if they had a two car effort.

What grinds my gears is that they did a sudden schedule shift and there are no road courses in the Chase.
I get the Old Boys Club hates having to turn right. Allow me to offer something then, get a road course layout and cover it with dirt and call it the Bootlegger Special or something like that as a one off.

I always thought this was nonsense cause Riverside was the final race of the year for most of the 80's and its not like nascar had to fold because of it. In fact, didn't a lot of the drivers like the track cause of the challenge?
>>
>>153172415
it is mostly because the Roval wasnt made for NASCAR since humpy wasnt given specifications for what the fuck they were planning with the next gen, it fits better Indycar, IMSA, Trans-Am or even F1

>get a road course layout and cover it with dirt
Based. They have that one natural terrain dirt road course in Brazil. I still think about that pretty frequently. But yeah, there needs to be exactly one road course in the chase. Alternatively, they could just do a normal points system.

roval it's a shit track, it's narrow, has no flow, it's been 7 years and they're still fucking around with the layout trying and failing to improve it, the only memorable stuff that has happened is either crashes or fabricated playoff drama, if you want another road course they have road america, road atlanta, mid ohio, portland, daytona if you want another roval, hell since they're on a streak of good decisions they could finally go to montreal or mosport, point is disliking the roval has nothing to do with hating road courses

Good evening lads.
I forgot to post in the appropriate thread after the race was over, I was kinda busy packing up and trying not to pass out from exhaustion.
Anyway we eventually lost the only thing we could realistically achieve, which was to remain in the lead lap.
We actually managed to do that for most of the race, but a series uf unlucky circumstances, less-than-stellar pit stops and a general lack of pace resulted in finishing a race 1 lap behind the leader.
Definitely not my best 24h race, but at least we finished, which is more than what a dozen other competitors can say so at least there's that.
I'm sure the 6hr caution was a snoozefest for you guys, but for us it was a godsend. You can't imagine how even a 30min nap and some "rest" without the pressure of the race can make a difference to us, especially after the race is over when a lot of the adrenaline wears off but you still have several hours of work ahead.
Honestly they should have gone for a red flag, I didn't really understand the point of going around behind a SC that long. Race control radio said it pretty much from the start that it would have been a very long one, and every single weather forecast predicted a minimum of 3-4hrs of thick fog from when the caution period began.
Anyway I hope you guys liked the show despite the interruption. I'm a bit disappointment because I was expecting more LMP2 moments, but hey you can't have it all can you.
I'm going to post a few random pictures from the end of the race in no particular order and with absolutely no artistic value to them. See you boys in Sebring.

How hard is it to sleep with the sound of the cars vrooming around? Or is it more of something that becomes white noise after a while. Ive only ever been to short tracks so i have no idea how well the sound carries at a place like Daytona.
>>
>>153175644
Not him, but I could've totally slept in the grandstands if I was comfortable. The sound of the cars is super comfy and not a big deal with my headphones on. The track PA, however, was loud as fuck and a nuisance.

yeah, literallty, i went to sleep 15 minutes before the yellow and woke up to another hour of it lol

yeah it's like what happen at le mans, maybe they didn't want to leave the cars in the cold for 6+ hours and potentially cause issues on the restart?

Thanks, for posting!
I'm sorry you didn't get the result you wanted but, as you know, just having a running car at the end of 24 hours is a victory. I assume they didn't red flag the race for the same reason they don't red flag le Mans. That is to just run the cars for 24 hours no matter what. Honestly, it came at a good time for me to take a little nap, so I wasn't toooooo disappointed. I did notice we didn't get the usual posts of the crowd and pit crews napping ITT, but overall, I had a really good time. Thanks in no small part to you and everyone watching along and posting.
>>
>>153175264
It's pretty good. It has some reality TV BS, but the racing makes up for it. My biggest complaint is that they cut the racing scene to omit laps where nothing really happens. I know this to condence the races and make it more exciting for casuals, but as some one who watches races regularly, it was a little annoying.
TL;DR it's a 7/10

Daytona pitlane is a lot louder than other 24h I've done (Spa and LM), mainly because there are no buildings to shield you from the noise.
However I think the main problem is the lack of space, not so much the engine noise.
At other circuits you have plenty of room behind the garages and you always have the option of laying down in the dark of your trailer, but you can't do that in Daytona. The pit stalls are tiny and the road immediately behind the pitlane is busy all the time with carts ferrying food, tires and the occasional crew running to the garages. If you want to find a more secluded area to sleep you have to walk all the way around a fence, which becomes a problem if you gotta run back for an unexpected pit stop. So in the end you are forced to sleep in a cramped space, in uncomfortable positions, with direct line of sight (and sound) of the pitlane and speedway and blasted by a million suns worth of floodlights. I've had way better naps elsewhere that's for sure.
>>153175946
Nah, just some radio banter here and there but for the most part the radio was kept for important comms and we didn't do anything special to keep us entertained. Doesn't help that our crew radio was also receiving on the spotter's channel and boy oh boy do they have to talk all the damn time.
As for the red flag issues, cars can handle being left in the wet or cold for a few hours. Usually teams are allowed to warm up the engine if the stop is long, but it wasn't that cold nor that wet to have caused any issues anyway. I don't know if the officials were afraid of potential issues with minimum race distance or driving times or things like that or they just don't want to use red flags unless it's absolutely inevitable, I guess we'll find out at some point. I still think it was dumb as hell to keep drivers driving like that for 6hrs.
Anyway I can't quote everyone because 4chin thinks my post is spam, but thank to all you bros out there, let's hope for a better LM24 at least
>>
>>153178194
I would guess the oval with the banked turns and was and grandstands around makes the thing like a bowl and all the sounds reflect back from the outer portions into the bottom of the bowl which is the pitlane-paddock. At spa or lm also the big forests are shielding the noise i guess

> The tuner side is completely new for FIA rally to have a tuner homologate a car and it is a massive success. We have a lot of contacts, more than 10. I don’t say that all 10 will finalise the project but they are working out how to do that
>
It is impossible to say [how many tuners will enter in 2027]. Honestly, not 10, that would be a big surprise. It is an ambitious project because when you take the decision to homologate the car, you need also to produce a minimum of 10 over two years and the car for all the people that want to buy the car. That is a massive challenge for them
> The recent confirmation of Project Rally One has provided a blueprint for others currently weighing up a decision to enter. The FIA expects another tuner will be confirmed soon.

btw today's club dirtshit post talks about solberg's setup differences. Basically he is very much conscious what kind of setup he wants which is basically day and night compared to what the rest of the team uses. As previously said Oli uses a very soft setup, while the others are using a pretty stiff one. His driving style and setup preference is pretty similar to what Petter had.
One of the engineers said that Oli also likes the car setup in such a way that it helps him turn. Was he referring to a more sensitive steering response maybe?
Evans said btw that he tried a setup similar to Oli's a few years ago at rally croatia but it made the car pretty unstable under braking
>>
>>
>>
>>153190815
he basically likes his car to drive how cars before the loeb revolution drove, a soft setup makes it easier for him to play with the weight of the car old school style opposed to someone like evans who drives very straight lines, shame both galle and ott are gone since they were the two other drivers with a similar style to soiberg to a lesser extent, this also explains why ott was so mid in the hyundai since that car was built around neuville who is on the other extreme kf the spectrum

That's pretty cool. I'm a little worried for Corvette since they have been doing particularly well outside or IMSA. I guess if they are going to lose to anyone, it might as well be Ford. Then again, they haven't exactly been killing it, either.

Most of those are headphones, but the over-the-ear style makes them decent hearing protection at the same time.

true, the hangooks just can't do the kalle gravel style of leaning onto the tyres by doing wide sweeping lines in corners, the zero grip monte stage was just an extreme case where soibergs more aggressive style suited the conditions perfectly while the loeb style drivers had to tiptoe around trying to keep the car going straight instead of using its weight to throw it into corners, I don't think he's the runaway favourite either unlike dirtfish glazers but I'm glad pure flamboyant car control can still win rallies

Luckily mine was caused by the airlines being retarded so it pays out when you're a eurofag. I've been to Sebring and Daytona for IMSA/WEC/IMPC. Missed out on some local oval stuff in NH in September due to weather. WRC I've done in Finland, would be cool to do in Chattanooga, but of point to point stuff in America I'd rather try the Pikes Peak even if it is a bit of a fogged out meme in recent years

You got comped thats what counts. You’ve seen some great tracks and fields. If you hit Pikes Peak this year you can hit Sonoma the following week. Looking at the Cadillac pic, it looks like they are allowing more air under the car. I first noticed it on the 499. I assume that it makes the diffuser more effective?

The current crop are just awe inspiring. I've seen the older cars all the way back to the Stratos at Goodwood and there is certainly no cars that go faster. Especially not the boomer/fake nostalgia because you weren't even there Group B cars which are pretty slow actually. Even in top speeds they can't compete with the current cars by any measure except possibly in some top trumps theory comparison
>>
>>
>>153197931
Yeah so aero isn't completely logical they raise the front lip to get more air under the car (you see this on the Ferrari GT cars too) because the low ride height still accelerates the flow up so much the downforce is increased although drag is too. It's very visible on a car like the Valkyrie which is philosophically quite different and more of a ground effect car

Good move for him, honda are finally taking motogp seriously now they lost Marc and the bike is going in the right direction while yamaha are going to take another 5 years at least to make their V4 competitive so Fabio had to make the move.
Yamaha are fucked now without a proper champion rider, Martin is a fraud and is only chasing money now and will be an injury disaster like he has been the last year.
>>153199401
Acosta wants a ducati ride and he'll get it, Gigi wants him there plus Pecco will go to Aprilia which will be a good move for him.
>>
>>153200760
acosta to ducati seems like a done deal also, pecco is the big mystery, aprilia with bez sounds good, valentino is still connected to yamaha so that's an option, will honda put an inexperienced rider next to fabio or will go with a superstar lineup? they certainly have the cash for it, the one sure thing is that ducati will implode
>>
>>153200845
>will honda put an inexperienced rider next to fabio or will go with a superstar lineup?
Teams in any series with a 2 rider setup always work best when theres a clear number 1 and a rider thats happy to be number 2 which says to me honda might let Mir go and keep Marini.

>>153197941
it's not about lap times/stage times. old race cars are cool because they had massive horsepower (often more than modern race cars) combined with (relatively) primitive aerodynamics and tires. tons of power with low grip = cars constantly on the verge of crashing, which looks spectacular.

Ducati are going to be untouchable now, the 2 most aggressive riders on the grid on the best bike, the only thing that can stop this is if both Marc and Pedro go full Senna/Prost and torpedo the whole operation fighting each other.

respectfully your nation is the size of Ohio. You do not grasp the amount of corruption in the states government, let alone the federal government. The jew pawn leaders (the presidents you euro focus on) are simply that, jew pawns. We the people still have guns, and sane people still have freedom. Indycar fans? WE GOT AN 18th RACE BABY! THATS WHAT COUNTS. One off? Sure, but someone will want to fill it next year, even if its only Iowa. Maybe if the San Diego course is a hit in NASCAR, INDY runs that. Lots of options for the fan, in this jewish world.
>still going to love INDYCAR :)

>TDS isn't real tho
I think this may be a bad idea just because street courses have been unimpressive in my (very limited) viewing experience, but it has nothing to do with associating with the wrong guys.

Oh wow this changes everything! Bettter impea-ACK, BETTER GENERATE UNRE-ackkkk. Don’t give a fuck Brazil. The 18th race is here. If you were worried about the real pedos you would focus on protecting Brazilian children from being trafficked. Instead worry about a guy thousands of miles away, who you can’t control. Did you look into the US Virgin Islands? No? Okay fag. Indycar got the 18th race that’s all that matters for motorsports bitch hahahaha
>>153213216
That will be next year and it’ll get the schedule up to 19 races. Can’t wait

If this makes the liberal Reddit faggots stop watching IndyCar it will be race of the year. Maybe Trump could invite IMSA and NASCAR so they stop watching those as well.
Hope they bring a B-2 to do a flyby.
>>
>>153213540
>nascar burnout contest on a long straight the Friday night, with a multi helicopter flyover the entire course and to clear smoke
>IMSA runs Saturday with a huge fly over and some helicopters running the course above
>Indycar runs Sunday with an even larger flyover, and the president above flying the course with VP in the beast underneath on the track
That’ll make them sick. God Bless America

Never underestimate the corruption of Eastern European countries. In some place you have to bribe the receptionist to get a basic utilities turned on. Its called Baksheesh (baksis).
>jew pawns
Who do you think they learned it from?
>if the San Diego course is a hit in NASCAR, INDY runs that.
I have a pretty good feeling about that track and about the relationship between IndyCar and NASCAR. That would be a killer kino weekend if it were to happen.

The problem is, pretty much every street course is shit it's first... several years. Nashville was juuuuust starting to get gud when they canned it for the (admittedly better) oval. The reason Long Beac is the best street course in the world is because both the teams and organizers have had decades to perfect their setups and the layout respectively.
All that being said, going to a bad race is typically better than watching a good race on TV. That's why I intend to be there (unless it's F1 prices.)

While listening to Ridge Racer Type 4's The Ride I was hit with a thought? Has any driver managed to listen to music during a live official race? Or at least had their team play something over the radio?

Why will driving games never be this good again? Like, literally 64 bit bullshit mogs the... nothing we have going now.
A game doesn't have to be """good""" to be fun. Stop over thinking it, faggots.
Also, basically just re-release Hot Pursuit with an updated car roster.

Exactly.
Also, what game is that? I'm guessing Monster Truck Madness, but I didn't ever play that one. I did extremely enjoy Motocross and Midtown Madness, though.
Motocross Madness was the best motorcycle game since Road Rash and I'm not aware of anything better since. I tried TT, but... yeah, naw.
Shout out to Midtown Madness for featuring Panoz cars.

The 2012 version is the pinnacle of arcade racers. 2005 is pretty great if for no other reason than it's violently mid-2000 aesthetics and beig one of the last major title to use FMV cut scenes.
>Chase for the Cup
I might have to try that if I ever get around to figuring out how to get a PS2 emulator going.
