Honda Close To Confirming 2027 FIA WEC Hypercar Entry
>DSC can report that multiple industry sources have confirmed that a programme based in Europe is under active discussion with suppliers and race organisers and that final approval from Japan could be imminent.
>The effort would be Honda-branded and would involve a re-badged Acura ARX-06, currently (and uniquely) campaigned in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship by a combined Meyer Shank Racing/HRC USA effort.
>If the programme is confirmed, Honda would most likely join both Ford and McLaren as 2027 WEC debutants, with a proven platform that is already a race winner in North America.
>DSC can further report that these same sources also confirm that Inter Europol Competition is the most likely appointee as service provider if the effort is confirmed.

The forecast for Sunday's Clash is brutally cold. Single digit lows in the Carolinas Saturday night/Sunday morning. The snow that does fall is going to be 15:1 or higher, meaning it will be fluffy as fuck. Wind gusts in the 30s and 40s will have all the snow drifting and blowing around. But there is no snow Sunday. So jet dryers could presumably blow the track clean fairly easily, but the whole track could effectively be a snow globe with cars at speed which has the potential to be the most kino Clash ever. I hope they don't reschedule. It could legit be a phenomenal watch.

What 2nd tier team do you expect to make a leap in 2026? For me it's Trackhouse, I expect their cars to be better, and for Ross' teammates to both run better. I also expect RFK to rebound from the 3rd team drag that held them back last year. I also think 23XI (and the Toyota's) to lose the edge they had at the end of last year since I think they were trying things (tons of blown engines and failed parts) that they won't risk in this points system.

Yup, same goes for the other rounds of AsLMS
Actually I think I'll share some photos from Sepang. Wasn't anywhere near as crowded as SGT in June but the vast majority of the crowd were Indians turning up for Ajith Kumar
In terms of food there were only a couple of vendors/stalls in contrast to the full-on food festival we had for SGT. JMR (the local Corvette team) was the only team selling merch and I got myself a shirt, mug and some keychains
The main grandstand was all we could access this time around but it was more than enough with many great viewing spots
Weather wise it wasn't as hot as it was in June but the monsoon rain came pouring down at the end of Race 2 and brought out the red flag. Brought a poncho and brolly just in case but still went back to my hotel kinda drenched

kek I swear I've been seeing the same article every year since 2024

https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/bmw-rules-out-third-m-hybrid-v8-for-le-mans/

BMW Rules Out Third M Hybrid V8 for Le Mans
>BMW has ruled out the addition of a third M Hybrid V8 for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans despite its new single-team LMDh approach with Team WRT.
>However, Roos has dismissed any such prospects for this year’s French endurance classic.
>Roos cited the increased budget needed to bring a third Hypercar entry to Le Mans as being one of the leading prohibitive factors, as well as the infrastructure aspect, which has been designed around a two-car team.
>“First of all, thinking about the budget and the money that’s needed,” he said. “We have to be honest. At the end, running a third car in Le Mans is not only just bringing a car over.
>“You need the whole infrastructure and everything in Le Mans also up for this.
>“It starts with seating and office spaces for the people running this car. The mechanics, the pit box… everything. You need to increase everything.
>“At the end, it’s also down to a budget topic.

>>
>>153218056
Turbos are just more efficient, for the most part. You can squeeze more power out of the engine while also maintaining better fuel efficiency with turbos, and the great march of technological development has mitigated and/or solved issues like turbo lag (which is one of the main reasons why the 037 used a supercharger) and reliability and whatnot.
Plus you have to consider space (or lack thereof) and the fact that turbos can be more flexible in their placement than a super.
>>
>inb4 turbochargers are much more technologicaly advanced than superchargers
wouldn't that put NA engines in the stone age?
>>
>>153218172
With NA engines you get some of the core benefits that a supercharged engine has over turbochargers (better throttle response and mechanical simplicity - simpler than a supercharged engine, even) without lowering your mpg or finding space in your engine bay to bolt a giant brick to the top of your engine.
Man these captchas are a pain in the ass.

Asia Lemans race is on
>>
>>153218276
Eh. Looking at it through the lens of endurance racing, having to refuel more means more pit stops, which means slower overall time. The longer the race, the bigger the total margin. There's a palpable strategic advantage to having better fuel efficiency just by virtue of allowing you to stay out on the track longer or push your car harder compared to a less efficient rival.
>>
>>153218387
that's great in theory but the virtual energy thing makes any actual fuel efficiency gains redundant

the only place where its not a concern is drag racing. No matter if you have refueling or not, engineers will always choose a tech which can give you better mpg while retaining or increasing power as they can underfuel the car thus save another tenth or more per lap
the dumb rules would be needed to actually make turbocharging not viable or better. In hypermemery you only have NA cars because the manufacturers want to save on costs and hope FIACOIMSA will save their ass with the BoP

>completely missed opportunity to make it a once in a lifetime race. the tires, the snow, the track temp i get why they didnt, but cmon. be bold, right? kennedy/frances buncha pussies lol
So what's the reason actually? Wasn't it supposed to snow like 5 inches, they should be able to get that off the track, right? Shouldn't Goodyear come prepared with the right tires for a race in the middle of winter? Does the track temperature have such a huge influence on the race safety?
>>
>>153221135
In all my years I’ve never seen nascar run on snow. Getting them to run the cup car on dirt was difficult enough. The track temp, goes back to the tires they probably have never tested at anything close to, and if they have, they would’ve brought something.
>clearing out the track
That takes effort, nascar is run by carnies so the less they have to do, and more they take in the better.

BTW I dont know how did it hallucinate nowins and max there but I told it that the photo does not feature them because its from 2025 bowman gray and after that it did generate me a photo.
BTW the pro model isnt really bad. More so it's a bit scarily good for some tasks, like translation.
Google Translate or Youtube's auto translations are bad because they are not aware of context. As soon as I added it that the text I want to translate is about rallying it even started to use ylilauta or casual rally fan lingo and shut and was fully aware motorsport memes from places like 4chan when I translated from english to finnish fornexample or tried out with some very heavy hungarian slang.
The ai overview top of the searches is using the free model which is retard as hell

The Valkyrie isn't all that loud in IMSA. The Cadillacs are louder. (They are all loud as hell.)
The Valkyrie is tied for the best sounding car with the Mustang (which is louder) of all random things. Neither can be truly appreciated over the TV.

My guess is the tire is the major technical issue. We have seen temperature changes fuck Bristol races up (make them awesome) and I don't think Goodyear has anything even close to appropriate to literal freezing temperatures. There are likely a ton of issues with the car, too. They are all designed to run hot as hell and there is no telling what could go wrong. Last, and definitely not least is the concerns about the crowd. Will anyone show up and, if they do, will they be safe and healthy. You don't want a bunch of fall injuries and hypothermia cases. My guess is it will be put of until Tuesday when they are supposed to get up into the 40s.

The american fan in large will not sit through cold weather shit, outside of sports ball. Circling back to the carnies, they arent racing purists, they want money first, and racing second. If snow means a thousand less people, you can bet your ass they will hold the event to get a thousand more.

Reality? That's pretty sweet.
Apparently, Georgios Kolovos was driving for Inter Europol last weekend. They won le Mans a couple of time in the last few years, including last year and they usually do well in IMSA. Hopefully he will be at Sebring, but I can't find an official entry list.

Basically yes. Gold Turismo races shitboxes from 20 to 30 years ago, while this series, Marcas Brasil, races newer shitboxes. There are many other series throughout Brazil that races them, at the national and state level.

Can't say about other countries, but you would think Brazil, which has three F1 world champions, multiple Indy 500 winners and Indy champions, IMSA winners, touring car winners, etc, would have an easier time showcasing it's national categories to the world, but not only most of our money goes to communists and terrorists in Brasília, but most people here barely speak proper Portuguese, imagine English.

Alright, lads. I can confirm that, after a while using the same cookies for 4chan.org you begin to get one really simple captcha to solve and a lot more vurifikshun not required (that phrase is considered spam when spelled correctly). I had to let some faggots know what time it was on /k/ and, well let's just say I needed some new cookies and now I have to do three more complicated puzzles again. It's not too hard, but it is less convenient.
In order to keep this motorsports related, I think the Chase is an improvement over the Playoffs, but still not as good as a normal points system and while I'm glad Acura is joining WEC, I wish more manufacturers would man up and join IMSA, especially since it's in the market where they actually sell cars.

I have posted about this before, but my buisness experience has tought me that Brazil is very concerned with Brazil, which is based, but I can't help but wonder if they, like the Japanese, simply do not give a fuck if anyone outside Brazil watches their series.
>most of our money goes to communists and terrorists
Same in American and Europe, but we just call them Globalists, but ComIntern is definitely the program. Just look at Minneapolis. It's literally simultaneously under a Federal occupation against and a communist insurgency in defense of a globohomo mega fraud center. Remember, your country is great, the people running it are gigantic faggots.
But seriously, an English language commentary of Stockcars Brazil and Endurance Brazil free on YT could probably be funded with merch sales to English speaking people.

Dont sell yourself short, not to make it too simple, but think of circles, triangles, squares, and lines (shocks). Its all about maintaining contact, to keep power down, so if something comes up, it must come down (silly i know). Even with dragsters they need geometry to keep them planted. All the dirt cars have crazy set ups. I like the loose/tight terms versus over/under steer but to each their own. An assortment of simple vids, and if it doesnt make sense, you still know more than you think, because if youre sliding in the snow/rain, you work the wheel to get the tires aligned to where you want to go, and feel where you want your cars suspension to be (or crash lol). Im no expert, i just like seeing suspension lmao.

Honestly, so would I, anon. Durango vs. Explorer vs. Tahoe vs. 4runner. Might actually draw more manufacturers in.

Though I'd only really be interested if they looked more like SUVs. A vaguely SUV-shaped body shell on a car or truck chassis, low to the ground to improve aero, is of no interest to me. I wanna turn tracks like the Glen into deathbowls because every spin is now a 60/40 chance for a rollover.

What's crazy is the Jeep Wagoneer L is the exact same overall length now, and nobody even comments on it.
>>
>>153244389
And believe it or not, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV is even longer (though only by a few tenths of an inch).

Finding that out confirmed my suspicions that there's been a steady inflation of SUV size. The old Tahoes were big, sure, but not the fucking 8 foot tall monstrosities you see on the road now.

However, according to Wikipedia the Wagoneer L and the Escalade ESV are still lighter than the Excursion. And it's not by a little, the Escalade ESV is almost 6,000 pounds max, the Wagoneer L is 6,704, and the Excursion is a titanic 7,700 if you got the turbodiesel. Makes me wonder if a lot of the size increase hasn't been so much about interior space or powerplant as it is crumple zones.

That's a lot of it. Government fuel and safety requirements are brutal. They are even more strict in Europe and Japan, which is at least part of the reason we don't have domestic cars any more. How is it motorsports related? The connection is the safety. The NASCAR Indy Dirt etc deaths, all should be learned from, instead of ignored. How can we have thousands of driver deaths in motorsports, let alone the millions lost on the road, AND still install STIFFER THINGS, banking on the vehicle to break up, or have things placed in the worst areas. India has telephone poles in the middle of the road. The US is on its way to being third world lol.

Like >>153246236 mentioned the "crumple zones" are a factor they are banking on heavily, but I've seen the outcome of a dually 3500 ram ride a back road ditch, no air bags deployed because of the angle (crumple zone didnt do shit), and it rode 100 yards, all while ripping the LR dually off, and flipping the rear end positions before burying itself in the ditch, DS door down to the left. It took down power lines out and the driver (DUI) evaded with a broken leg. The ignorance to planning is crazy, and they think these "zones" will stop things, when they clearly dont. They are simply made to pass a sereis of standardized tests that are in turn designed to represent the most common types of accidents. Unfortunately, the real world is a crazy place. Still, that's no excuse for how out of control some of this stuff has gotten.
What is weird is that motorsports has absolutely figured out automotive safety, but few people are interested in wearing a 4 point in harness and HNAS device.

The stock bikes the actual MotoGP riders are on are more stock than Rossi's gift bikes which are like 50% WSBK build. The parts list for his 2022 had no swingarm or major engine internals but the superbike front end, forged wheels, some fancy WSBK parts like the fuel tank and carbon subframe and a full race ECU rather than flash or piggyback.

Anyways completely random reminder that the entire shitty fountain section at Long Beach only exists because they don't have enough pull to shut down Ocean Boulevard since the early 80s so they need to diddle through somewhere to keep the lap time over 50 seconds and not really construction like they like to say (construction just eliminated previous 1st gear Mickey Mouse lap time extenders through parking lots). If F1 had managed to buy it out they probably would have brought back nearly the original layout like this (there was just two chicanes through the parking lot where the convention center's new building is now along Pine Ave for some reason), or maybe moved the first hairpin all the way down to where the fountain section ends now for maximum DRS memes.

>Google ruined their own search and AI ruined all others
its crazy, as if they dont want people searching for shit, and taking whatever is fed to them first.
>I know I've seen a picture of a couple race cars with right side duallies
what surface were they on, if you remember? right rear only?? you got me hunting. now i need to see it
>>
>>153252585
There were double tire wheels on the right-fronts; I'm not sure the right-rears were visible enough to tell whether they were duallies as well.
I believe it was on dirt, but it may have been a board track with the photo taken at an angle to match the banking.
>>
>>153250940
True, as long as it's motorsport, it's worth sharing for anyone out there. For example this video that blessed my recs today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVB5PiOxshA

I know that
>start push is everything. slow and weak off the blocks and you might as well go home
>actually steering the sleigh is kept to a minimum. if you are trying to drive it like a car down the chute you will just lose speed
may be why there aren't many racing drivers who try it
>>
>>153253230
The monobob gold medalist last time was 36 and the silver was 37, the obvious problem being they had been doing bobsled for 15-20 years but it was a sport they switched to after their original anyways or even do alongside a summer sport. In the two woman one of the silvers was also bronze in the 4x100m relay in 2024 and one of the bronze only started bobsleigh in 2018 after being a college basketball player and competitive weight lifter.

Simona did well enough to qualify for the Olympics anyways but I think she's probably around the bottom of those that did. But just getting there was the goal for her anyways.

Yeah for short tracks in particular you might see as low as 10 PSI cold. As the tire heats up it gets up to normal pressures, anywhere from 20-40 more PSI. Basically the idea is that you want the least amount of air in the tire as you can get away with to maximize tire surface area on the track, increasing grip. Intuitively the rate of wear increases as a result so it's up to the crew chief to find the right balance

If you want to see bikes on board tracks in 2026, you have to watch a motor-paced bike race. I saw a few of these when I was a kid in the 90s, and back then they were still running pre war bikes like this in regular events.
One of these weird niche sports like cylceball, just baffling that they're still around imho
>>
>>153255474
I do see Fabio leaving, he spent all of last year complaining about the bike so his mind already looks made up, Alex Marquez going to ktm for a million euros makes no sense at all, a rider like him who has been winning races should be getting offered 3-5 million at least, plus ducati just rewarded him with a factory bike so he'd want to stay as a way of thanking them.

>a rider like him who has been winning races should be getting offered 3-5 million at least
salaries have gone way down over the last decade or two, marc very likely the only guy earning 8 digits, and other than pecco and fabio i doubt anyone else is close to the 5 million mark, plus any retard can win in the ducati, the fact that it took him so long doesn't help him either
>rewarded him with a factory bike
that was thanks to marc lobbying
>as a way of thanking them
loyalty is not a thing anymore, alex wants a factory seat and the only ones willing to give him one are ktm, that's what it comes down to
>>
When you can get Martined at any moment with this fucked up schedule or win multiple races and still get shipped off to the WSBK mines a couple years later like Oliveira you have to get that factory bag
>>

Would banking actually help?
Is this retarded, or would it be cool?
>>
>>153256585
I found this salary list from last year, according to this Alex is already on 2 million including the bonus, I just dont see what ktm can offer him, the new street shitter indian auto group taking over ktm are talking about cutting half the budget of the entire company just to survive, theres no way anyone in their right mind would want a "factory" ride so bad that they'd go for a factory thats looking like it wont even make the 2027 grid, its why Acosta is fleeing the sinking ship.
>>
>>153257422
>Is this retarded, or would it be cool?
both. retarded to not try it, and would be cool no matter what
>What is a short and flat enough to make this happen?
They have too much ego, but I'd contact the NHL, and the ice crews, and make an ice track to take to any venue.
>Why they wont
its nascar led by a bunch of faggots in suits, who openly say they think the fans are retarded. lol and their feeder series is headlining a night race over Indycar so fuck them extra hard.

>>153257422

Both, honestly. It would be visually cool to watch but I don't think NASCAR would be interested on developing tyres for ice racing or searching on ways of covering a race track on ice.

Anon, I am not your mom just asking to be polite. I especially like TC and appreciate it for being so based for so long. It is fine if you don't know, but please understand that I asked you, specifically, instead of the robots, because I value your passion and insights and I wanted to maybe start a discussion. If you know more about this driver, please let us know.
To be honest, I engage with a lot of posts here simply to encourage and support my fellow motor/sp/ortsmen. I want to know what racing stores you enjoy so I can enjoy them too. Saying that, I am pretty much interested in anything thing that vrooms and I want to foster an environment where everything (outside of F1(they have their own thrad)) is open to discussion.

Goodyear definitely has the technology or at the very least the capability to do it fairly easily. Which isn't to say it's "easy" but for a massive corporation that makes tires, it should be.
The studs are easy.

>covering a race track on ice.
Where I come from in New England, the local AAA baseball stadium sprays the parking lot with water and sets up Jersey barriers to make an ice skating rink. Pic related isn't it, but it illustrates the point. Anywhere with bullshit cold weather and a hose can be covered in ice. DuQuoin or New Hampshire are probably the best candidates outside of a specially constructed course.
