We are, it can smell of a bit of a cool kid club but it is mostly old people club who do not care too much about much but their favorite spot, few tourists, no schizos and replayability.
And you can post 5 images in one post, and you can post the same image unlimited amount of times and no stupid fucking captcha.
In handball my league is too reliant on Kielce and Płock, it is like Real and Barcelona in the golden years, they have too big of a budget, too many foreign guys, the rest of the league plays for third, my town used to be decent but since my high school friend stepped of the GM function they dipped.

UCI would call cx "worldwide" as well because they force the riders to go to america for a few races. It's not because it's organized worldwide that people care worldwide.
I have never in my life met anyone that plays or watches Handball.

I think Evenepoel went to Red Bull because they have better "doctors"

Evenepoel casually doing 7W/kg during that climb and then ride solo for 50km the day after he won a TTT is very sus don't you think? Sure he's probably still one of the best in the peloton, but I think his new team has better doctor and access to more exotic drugs. Remco wants beat Pogacar. But Pogacar is doping, but it can't be proven and no one wants to prove it because no one wants a scandal (bad for business). So the only way to beat Pogacar is figure out how to dope as much as he does.

IIRC those numbers were more or less based on the performances of supposedly clean riders like LeMond 40 years ago. A lot has changed since then, training, nutrition, equipment. I don't find it inconceivable that all of that should enable significantly better performances. Also genetics are hugely important and rare freaks of nature exist. Though all that might only be part of it and they all could still be doped to the gills.
>over a ~20-40 minute climb
This was only a ~16 minute climb, which puts it "only" in the top ~200 all time (according to Lanterne Rouge). And it was a relatively short one day race, dry, not too hot, not too cold, low altitude. The TTT yesterday was very short, not even half an hour, that's not hard to recover from. All in all, basically ideal conditions.
Pog did 7 W/kg for 40 minutes, in a much longer stage with twice as many vertical meters, in excruciating heat and at altitude, after two weeks of GT racing (Plateau de Beille 2024).

of course not. the only things that matters is how he feels about himself. what I like about Remco it's always fun to watch him race whatever he wins or loses. truly a generational talent.

>Alright but there's nothing to suggest he actually improved yet.
he destroys pog on short, high intensity sessions as demonstrated in the last TT. I think that the reason he couldn't keep up with pog in a road race is because he doesn't have pog's base. Because of his fall last winter, he's had no time to steadily build up that base. He had to race as soon as he could. This season he's had whatever aerobic conditioning he's built from last year as well as this winter. So has he improved? No doubt. Also add that he's in a better team now and probably has access to more exclusive "medical staff" now.
I am 100% convinced that Remco's biggest handicap is himself. He's too emotional whereas pog is just steady and always solid. Remco is easily shook by little things, whereas pog keeps calm and has a great poker face.
If Remco learns to stay calm and is given the time to build up his aerobic endurance over a couple of steady years like pog has... they're probably very close. I honestly believe Remco has the potential to be physically better, but pog still has the edge on him mentally/emotionally

remco simply has more fast twitch fibers in his legs. And his leg to torso ratio is a lot better than pog as well even though his quads are bigger than pog's. Remco literally hasn't been able to build a massive base endurance over the last 2 years. He's had multiple very serious injuries that required long recovery which resulted in losing his endurance. If he has a couple injury free years, he can build a base that can compete with pog. No doubt about that. He's very close to beating him. The question is... will remco beat himself again before he can beat pog?

>this is such nonsense. I know people who train under 12h a week and can do over 6w/kg for 20min. the idea that the best riders in the world couldn't do 7w/kg is laughable.
You do realize that PED use is rather common in fitness circles, don't you? And besides, 6w/kg for 20minutes is perfectly within the realm of achievable. Most well trained individuals who have a natural talent for endurance sports can achieve that. And that's the point. Doing 7w/kg for an hour after 5 hours of racing is just crazy.
Besides, 6w/kg for 20 minutes (on its own) isn't that hard. It takes a few months of interval training and proper recovery. But 7w/kg for 1 hour after 5 hours requires superhuman ability. Have you ever been on a bike for 5 hours in the upper range of zone 2? Do you know what that feels like? Imagine doing 7w/kg for an hour while you feel like that. If you believe that's natural or due to better nutrition, I think you're naive.

>6w/kg
if you're naturally gifted, have been riding for some years, and properly train intervals for 2 months with adequate recovery. If you step on the bike at your peak, completely fresh, you will push 6w/kg for 20minutes.
But if you try to push 6w/kg for 20minutes after a 5 hour ride, you will fail.
Do you understand the difference?
