High cheek bones, almond-shaped eyes, pointed, hawkish facial features. You should be able to recognize an elf face even without the pointy ears.
They should be on the more slender side compared to humans, (porndrones and their cowtits with pointy ears be damned). I'm partial towards elves that are taller than humans. But I can see the reason for picking smaller than average elves if you want to focus hard on them being dexterous, but with reduced toughness. Ultimately, the visual design should enforce the mechanical aspects and vice-versa.
Unusual skin colors, eyes, horns, pointy teeth or any other accessories feel more gimmicky than necessary.

I was actually playing Werewolf The Apocalypse last session and our teammate with the absolute worst luck I have ever seen fell down the basement stairs in the most looney tunes fashion imaginable. It was botchmania night. Now that I think of it I don't know if theres elves in the setting, but I wouldnt be surprised.

Thats a nice Arrianne, the goggles do seem like a nice idea if its that sandy and windy. Plus other various desert attire and maybe a hellish camel.

Christ. Good thing there is rest of the party to carry. We are 5 players+DM so if someone starts fucking up royally, the rest of the team can fill in. During session (where she didn't wear her face makeup), we were defeding a small village against various demons and since the village is a lot of tight spaces and Arrianne is a mobile scout, I decided to have her climb the buildings and jump over roofs and rain down arrows on various enemies. She has boots of Jumping and Striding and couple of skill points in Jump, Balance, Tumble, Climb...shit like that so it made sense. Whole fucking session nat1s on every fucking movement check. Arrianne lost more HP to falling off houses than enemies.

Oof. Werewolf has a nice mechanic of Willpower which does help maintain an air of competency for something that a person should clearly be good at. A gauge of mental strength, but also a resource pool that you can spend to secure a single success on an action, as well as prevent Botches where you'd otherwise have negative successes from 1s on the D10 dice.

Oh and falling down the stairs is far from the worst. Hes the only one using guns and his 1911 has blown up in his hands. Twice. Hes getting it repaired again. He recovered a sniper rifle from a ghoul I killed when we were on a big tanker ship fight and the last round was apparently boobytrapped because it exploded in his hands. If I recall it happened to another big rifle when we were at a vampire recruitment graveyard but that might have been just a very unfortunate jam.

Sort of. Every character has a Willpower rating they bought at character creation alongside skills and can invest more exp into. You have to spend a point before an action so you could botch or you could be fine and it still improves the result.

It does, and it starts in 1999. There are levels of injured so it wasn't a terrible wound, and there are also different types of injury; blunt, lethal, aggravated. Fortunately he wasn't using something like a dragon napalm round, or one of the magic bullets we've found off a ranking vampire. As a Werewolf he can shapeshift into one of several forms which allow for regeneration of lesser injuries. However Aggravated damage represents a wound from something extremely powerful or magically deadly that even a Werewolf can't quickly regenerate without days or weeks of rest.

It is. Though to be fair there is a charm for his Clan that I believe allows for basically even rusted buckets of bolts tier cars to run just fine for a day. This. We only had it recently because our mage Ferris was able to summon an actual safehouse that would last just enough for a rest. The only safe spot in Avernus is the Wandering Emporium, which is the only trading spot where use of any form of magic or violence strictly sanctioned. You can also get a nice, foamy bath for the very cheap price of your soul.

Arrianne was also able to manufacture a hot shower with the help of a couple of Kenku mechanics that were serving some big evil Fey or Hag (idk what she was honestly), but the party decided not to bring her shower piece as a punishment for Arrianne for accidentally forming a madhat flower money cult

Errr...so we visited a weird (I'm sure pretty evil) fey/hag called Mad Maggie...She had this huge gang of madcaps and redcaps following her. They are crazy fey prone to sporadic bursts of violence, so chaotic and ADHD that the only coherent think they can think of is sudden rush of violent behavior. Since Arrianne is a private bussiness owner raised on capitalist values, she saw huge potential in this unused manpower. However, these bunch didn't really have any kind of incentive to work so what she did is to single a couple of them out and then give them origami flowers (that she got from Ferris back when they functioned together) and gas them up that they are extremely precious and rare and you need to work to earn them. This worked for a while and the redcaps/madcaps build her a wall, a home, shower cabin and whatnot but it kinda went bad when they started killing each other over money and developed a cult of money worship where the caps who didn't believe in value of origami flowers were crucified and the ones that did build a rigid hiearchy with a flower monopol pharaon on top, basically decimating Maggies gang. We had to kill the "flower bosses" and return them to their natural state from organized cult culling to random outbreaks of violence. For this major fuckup, Arrianne was denied her shower boiler and her bath half-barrel which later bit the party in the ass after her mental health started deteriorating. Unfair and cruel.

Also we would like to keep things light and agile. And that includes our moving camp

Mostly what I already mentioned. They are completely separate from their other elven brethren after pledging themselves long ago to the Merfolk empire. Merfolk essentially are the nobility of that ocean nation, with the Sea Elves acting as their military arm that can go on land. Triton are also part of their kingdom, though they serve in the greatest depths of the Sea Kingdoms.

I provided them as an option mostly because the next part of the adventure is going on the ocean and it could make sense for the new players if they so wanted to.

I've had fun mapping out where the galley they'll be travelling on will stop, every 2-4 weeks or so. Not intending adventures in those areas, but so I can properly narrate the journey to where everything is going to Go To Hell(heh).

I could have some fun trying to plan around that. If the castle empties out so they can raid or fight the battle. Dressing up like demons and someone having to play the damsel in distress captive the gang is bringing in to get past the guards. Finding the mechanism to lift the castle before the battle ends so the army gets left behind. Or someone has an oopsie and then having to get out through the trash disposal or something.

Hopefully they get better, quite a few dnd games I've been in have been rather more combat focused with some very light rp. The groups that did have better rp had quite a different makeup and culture, so perhaps its just going in with the right mindset rather than experience?

For more rp focus I find some past play-by-post games have been quite nice, and for me personally it is convenient to have time to think on how a character would really react, and if I can come up with any clever 'using a cigarette holder to breathe' kind of plays.

I've been working with the new player. She has a rather interesting character built up now. Tiefling (yes I know), but I use the old planescape tables and her results came out almost piscine. Bluish skin, scaled, fangs, overly long lashes (basically supermodel makeup style but natural). Going the route that her being a tiefling was kept secret, she doesn't even know it.

More complex too since she's a cleric to the god Anumon, who isn't worshipped widely on the current continent of Akados. Was adopted by priests in Libynos, grew up in that faiths holy land, traveled with parents to Akados on a pilgrimage mission and lived there ever since. It'll tie her character hard to the story, since the Cult has basically crushed the church back home (and the Sultan of the Efreet has made pacts with Devil allies, the powerful devil infesting the formerly holy city gets to throw cruel taunts at the cleric!)

There's a reason I go with the planescape type, really acts as a kryptonite to the usual faggoty sort that make tieflings these days. I allow one choice on the table, which means it could be very subtle. Rolling means there's going to be multiple things "off" with their appearance, but that could line up to something that resembles another kind of creature. She basically looks like a triton without gills.

I do the same thing with aasimar, whose appearance could range from bronzed skin to arms made of marble, or the most extreme being an array of eyes on their faces, or other such features which align with stranger celestials.

They are Chaotic Evil. They rarely communicate with outsiders like Humans or other Elves. They really, really hate, Demons, Abominations, Undead, Foul beings Elementals that are not of Water Plane. They have small respect for Primordials (Titan-era worshippers)
They love breeding (sex orgies). They don't give birth but instead lay eggs, they also sometimes ascend themselves after Morgwyrm (Great Sea Leviathan, powerful Titan-era Demiurge) so they gain serpent or squid like forms. like after Medusas but do not become such.

TL;DR is they when the sea swallowed the original Elven capital of Anaoreth during end of the time of the Immortals they are the children who survived and made pact with the Sea spirit (Meretar, the High-God of the Tides and Seas, not worshipped by any Elves prior and was usually seen as a dark by them).

Yeah it was an omake the artist did when the series ended I think.
I'm pretty sure the author is a woman and obsessed with elves and gets some of her fix from western games (and also made this collage more for a japanese audience that doesn't know the games)
