Kasumi was always the frail girl who got picked on by others; bullied for having weird tastes in shows and games, and quickly learned no wanted to play her chuuni bullshit with her on the playground. That only led to more bullying. Neglectful parents also never came to pick her up or even drop her off to school, meaning she walked both ways. That definitely led to even more bullying.
Then, some strange old man opened up some martial arts classes in his shoddy dojo nearby. She entered to get some basic self-defense... and got a little more than she bargained for. That old man was a retired hero, and regaled of her stories from his youth, inspiring her to be just like him! Day after day she trained in his qi arts, quickly becoming a fierce fighter! For a few years in her young teens, she worked as a vigilante behind her mentor's back, stopping petty crime and bullying around her neighborhood... until she fucked up. Someone pissed her off, and she splattered someone's head. It became Territory wide news, and prosecution pushed for her to be tried as an adult despite being 16 at the time. She was charged with manslaughter and vigilantism, barred from becoming a hero, and sentenced to jail. Of course, a month later, she was let out, due to something going wrong in court processing. Very hush hush. Told it was a favor to someone who was looking out for her.

And, of course, she never saw that someone again; she went to the dojo the next day, only to find it was all packed up without a trace.

Then, while looking for work, she was approached by some sleazy men in suits.

Now 18, enter Deadend: best loser mercenary on the market. Working not just as security, but occasionally... 'muscle', she gets by working for definitely-legal businesses, and then praying that they're definitely actually legal. Truly wanting to do good at heart and hopefully not digging a deeper hole for herself, part of her wants her efforts to one day be recognized by the Hero Association so that she can become a hero she feels her master will be proud of. The other part of her feels that she's going to be doing merc work until the day she dies... that's the bigger part. She's 'Deadend', after all.

Fighting style revolves around unrelenting, mind blurring offense.

It's a little weird in the new context. Originally it was for a martial arts tournament (the punching and kicking kind), and for that the weapon tax makes sense. Having a pointy metal stick is a pretty big advantage in that situation, so you need a trick up your sleeve to fool the refs. When the Dead Apostles struck, he fought, mostly with his creations. Birds of every shape, size, and even composition, hurling elemental blasts at a scale familiars were thought to be incapable of. By skill and some luck, he survived the Tower's ruin, but not unscathed. Cooped up as he is, he spends much of his time drawing in his phone, his focus on art allowing him to act even through this medium… if only more mages engaged with modern technology.

In Territory T, there exists an isolated community of strange monsters: vampires. Their king, Laiota Drazil, has constantly sought out peace with humans, but the valley of Vansylvania hasn't seen eye to eye with the United World Government lately. They will impose their rules and laws on his people no longer! Laiota has given up on peaceful coexistence, and has decided that he will cede from the UWG! Parts of Territory T surrounding Vansylvania populated by normal humans have been absorbed into his sphere of influence, and his vampires act as heroes to defend it. Formerly one of many cephalopods being experimented on during the Neptune Project, an attempt to elevate the intelligence of certain sea creatures, Octocampus was the highlight of the study. He couldn't just open jars; any type of physical puzzle they presented to him, he was able to complete. IQ tests? Passed with an amazingly high score. He was even able to program advanced software!

But all of that went nowhere. The Neptune Project was illegal; and it was busted by heroes. The scientists attempted to destroy all traces of their work... but they failed. Octocampus escaped via a drain. And he never forgot.

His grudge festered, and his body mutated-- whether it was further effects of what chemicals he was exposed to or his pure malice, he did not know --until he became what he is today.

A monster hellbent on the eradication of hunanity, he creates abominations out of sea life in an attempt to fulfill his goals, spitting venomous ink out as heroes attempt to nail him down. Just as slippery as the rest of his species, he typically just lets a monster loose before escaping to create a new one. He's allied himself with the Monster Association but feels no real kinship with his fellow monsters; he's not making the mistake of trusting anyone ever again, and will burn down the world for disgusting him.

Yeah, I like all of them so far. Kasumi's probably my favorite in concept so far. If I had to say one I didn't like it would be NotDracula. Maybe he'll turn things around though.
>What kind of stories could you tell with them?
We have a proper villain now it seems so that's nice. Maybe something just with the heroes + Kasumi and Leo all teaming up to deal with a giant sea monster would be fun as my intro.
