>>98137705 I'm thinking about building my first Commander deck. I noticed in my shoebox of old cards both Ghost Council of Orzhova and Obzedat, The Spirit Council and few other cool Orzhov cards...
Is building around the Council's Dilemma and punishing non-cooperative opponents with damage, destruction and other annoying effects a cancerous concept? All the cards I'm missing would cost me like 8-9$ on aftermarket, maybe cheaper if I would seek them locally.
>go to a new store for casual commander >its 3 dudes with partner commander decks edhrec slop >return the favor lethal grapeshot storm trigger >narset exsanguinate >game 3 >backlash a hasted blightsteel after a cyc rift >reenact the crime ulamog out of a gitrog loop and destroy amulet of vigor >scoops so I cant swing with ulamog >bonus round, reversal of fortune for the lols >copy temporal extortion twice out of his hand >copies get around the trigger, I just keep casting his temporal extortion from his own hand each turn >win >they get salty that I just win off of their wins >playing a meme deck
>>98138566 Just run flashback costs. Lots of them. Also Wild Ride and Reckless Charge. You can drop Spiderman, haste him, swing for 10, then burn something for 5.
>>98138566 Madness, suspend, prosper effects. Possibility storm. Good luck anon I found my izzet commander already(pic related) otherwise I would have built this guy
>>98138620 I'm on autofill right now but i dont see an option to let me swap the back to another card art just to download image or swap to one of the other back choices
>>98138260 >Famine Incarnate >plane has metaphysical embodiments of life sucking super hard walking around and actively trying to make the situation even worse Do planeswalkers ever look at Dominaria and think "There's an infinite multiverse but wow, what a godforsaken shitshow"?
>>98138709 I don't believe Tolvada is as bad as Kaya makes it out to be. It would be very much like her to exaggerate how bad it is because it feeds into her drama.
>>98138424 DriveThruCards is cheaper and lets you use PayPal. There's some history of credit card scamming on MPC. DriveThruCards admittedly has a little worse quality (colors are less vibrant), and it's more of a pain in the ass, but I find that worth it to avoid getting scammed by some Chinese employee.
>Source: bought five edh proxy decks and just ordered a deck of Planechase Anthology planes in reduced size
>>98138790 Speaking of which, does anyone have experience with Planechase+EDH? Planechase is my favorite non-EDH format, so I really want to mix the two. Curious if anybody has a review.
>>98138961 And most of these planes are in fact that bad. Ikoria, Azgol, Innistrad; all of these places suck absolute shit to live in. I have no doubt Tolvada is any different.
>>98138566 Cards like Bulk Up increase his power while also fulfilling the cast from anywhere else clause. Also like the OTJ Jace, you can cast him on your OPPONENT'S first second and third turns if you have the mana and means to give him flash. Throes of Chaos gives you a card that cascades that you can cast from grave repeatedly plus the jumpstart cards to put your cast from grave cards in the grave while casting something else
>>98140723 I will keep saying this until I die, but Dinosaurs are the gayest tribe to exist in the game, and the manchild that keeps making this pushed shit needs to be sacked and these mistakes removed. The average cardsmith autist has more restraint than your average Dino tardation.
>https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/98130951/#q98136323 trying to control the narrative by spamming his own thread, incredible I will corner you again furfag Also what an interesting card! What kind of magic the gathering commander format weird voltron deck we could make, anons?
>>98140660 I'll keep posting here because gay bolas is better than the slop threads you make >>98140696 He's either in with a janny or letting one huff his taint so better to let his shit thread die and keep baking this one over and over
>>98142615 My criteria are quality of life + likelihood of war. In the borders there are constant fights against Grixis, but you can simply not sign up for the defense forces and stay a normal guy in an idyllic and fertile land, and the Omenpaths should have taken some of the heat off them.
>>98140660 Funny how pds's fuck up thread with no title that tried to equate edh with his gay little antiub general didn't get spammed by "bots" or deleted by jannies but ones he doesn't bake do when he wants to be the one to make them. Funny how jannies just "disappear" whenever poopdick is spamming his off topic poltard shit and crying about furries and fun posting.
So that little sperg really spammed the shit out of like 5 threads in a row just so he could put a gay furry porn link in the OP for pride month? Holy shit kill yourself
>>98143832 He’s doing such a comically bad job of convincing people that everyone is the problem but him. It reminds me of Chris Chan’s “operation information overload”
>>98140218 I assume Ulgrotha is fine for citizens of Aysen, not counting Sengir occasionally kidnapping young girls for food and Eron with his goblin goons stealing shit. The entire plane is fucked beyond help, but the remaining people live like Amish fucks. I assume that Phyrexian invasion did not affected them too much because like 99% of the plane was already a wasteland anyway and Sengir unleashed grandma Ravi on Phyrexians.
It's poor and apparently Sengir already conquered entire plane, but living in a dilapidated shithole ruled by literal vampire sounds fine in comparison to other planes.
>>98143936 >hows feelings on it now? Revitalized my interest in EDH because it quarantines all the turbo-autists into B4/5. One of the few good things to come out of Wizards in a decade.
>>98143922 The worst plane of all time to live in? Grixis.
Grixis is special because even in planes that suck you can be born into some kind of elite. A high-ranking coreborn Phyrexian, an enforcer, an overseer, a vampire, a dragon. You can happen to be born as the boot crushing the plebs. Or you can get a special ticket to relative power, like being a bonder in Ikoria.
In Grixis, even the elite is still living on miserable scraps. It's why they're so furiously trying to get out of that shithole.
In Grixis, everyone is suffering. Even the necromancer lords are still squalid, starving corpses dragging themselves to life by scavenging the last scraps of vitality remaining in the plane, with no comfort, no love, no pleasure in their lives beyond the shallow cruelty of whipping their own slaves. I'd rather be a beggar in Bant then a king in Grixis.
>>98144665 It should be a coinflip to see if you get odds or evens, since he was supposed to kills half of the universe at random due to his philosophy.
>>98144665 >repeatable 5c slop board wipe in the command zone >you can't have nonbasic hate to slow it I can already see how miserable B3 will be with this
>>98144756 >active ability gets discounted by WBR on any turn he enters, so flickering him with any random W or U card makes it cost basically the same as extinction event (but repeatable) I envy the dead
>>98145354 Giant and Elder would both fit imo, bonus points since "Elder Giant" is the standard typeline for the legendary Theros titans and Thanos is "The Mad Titan"
>>98145354 WOTC just needs to get more comfortable with using the existing Alien type to describe more miscellaneous extraterrestrial/extradimensional scrimblos. It's absolutely ridiculous that EoE didn't use it at all and Star Trek is likely gonna be the same
>>98145392 Titan is a demonym in this instance. He's called Titan because he's literally from Titan. And his fellow Eternals are more closely approximated to Archons, not Giants. He could be described as an Archon Mutant, but that might create confusion when there's a whole other category of creatures also called Mutants in the set.
>>98145418 Official mtg YouTube channel has one waiting to premier. >>98145409 I admittedly don't consume cape stuff and only knew his title. After reading up on Eternal-Deviants for 60 seconds, he should be a Mutant.
>>98145485 An issue with that is that Marvel has gods and demigods (at least three of which will appear on cards), and Thanos strictly speaking isn't one.
>>98145692 if celestials are not-gods and etermals/deviants are their direct creations they should just be elders or avatars It would be consistent with shit they did for gandalf and the FFXIV mystery niggas
How come MTG has avoided the scalping problem with the current TCG market? Is it really just because it's a game people actually play, so cards are being opened to be used?
I'm building Kuon, Ogre Ascendant. I have an It That Betrays going in, Pawn of Ulamog, and Sifter of Skulls. This has made me wonder if monoblack eldrazi is a good or dumb idea. Currently my Kuon has a fuckton of edicts and discard so everyone hates me. My fear is having to sacrifice my own eldrazi to Kuon's essence. Thoughts?
>>98147177 nta but eldrazi, ESPECIALLY if you lean hard into annihilator/mass sac, makes you the archenemy and the game immediately goes 3v1. Good luck, people hate it.
>>98147148 My thought is that you're retarded for playing the game like this. Also, just run edrazi that create tokens if that's what you want. >No, I don't actually want eldrazi, I just want annihilator Then just say that. There are much better sac cards for that.
>>98147177 >>98147192 To clarify, not because it makes you the archenemy, but because it is lame and overdone and I'm tired of seeing it and it's boring.
>>98146648 Extort was to be expected and I was hoping they would lean more towards draining or even taxing your opponents. Instead, we get yet another toughness matters commander... What for? Why would you use this guy instead of Felothar? Fuck this shit, the design team got super lazy with this set.
>>98147314 it's because Disney isn't asking for anything, look at tokon WotC is just doing what they do with some reverence for the comics and movies but no strong opinion on what everything should look like, so the bland modern comic stuff is there along with everything else
>>98144157 that was exactly what got me back into it all the rhystic losers can sit in b4 its been a struggle to make proper b2s but I think I have the hang of the timmy philosophy now I can do some fun stuff
>>98147479 >>98147105 >tn: she has a nose! that makes her a troon! superior asian artists never draw noses! The rivals version is vastly more obese than any other version, you tranimes just give anything asian a pass (even though you never pass)
Do you guys ever get off put by seeing all the universes beyond stuff in your games? Like I want to get back into commander, but I also really do not want to sit across from a mismash of marvel and final fantasy shit and listen to it.
>>98147946 I've gone into the dark side nothing made me more annoyed than hypocritical weirdos thinking their Bilbo Baggins or Sephiroth is more respectable and in universe equivalent over some other UB I see them all the same, your Gandalf looks just like a Shadow the Hedgehog in mtg to me so now I deliberately use UB alts to piss those kinds of dudes off, even have a deck where I try to keep it as functional as possible with as many UB cards as I can fit in
>>98147314 Because Disney doesn't care. Rivals makes their designs because they know they will sell to their audience. WotC makes theie designs because they want to push an agenda of ugliness.
>>98147946 It's weird now that you mention it. I can't think of a single UB card any of my friends use in commander. It's like an unspoken rule. I was buying a chromatic lantern the other day and even though it was cheaper just felt disgusted by the turtle version. The value of UB cards long term seems overall just lower than normal mtg cards.
Yo wut are some good deck boxes that have room for the hard card sleeves? I have some pricey cards I switch in and out of my deck as needed/based on the table (like going from bracket 2 to 4-5). Id like to keep everything in one spot, so room for a double sleeved card deck, some extra cards, and some cards in the hard sleeves. Thanks!
>>98148183 we should really just make a classic edh format >old tuck rule >old legendary rule >no UB >everything in the "game changers" list and ban list is completely banned and most importantly absolutely NOTHING "this can be your commander" allowed or Eminence cards, no partners, no backgrounds, no planeswalkers, no vehicles as commanders also ban sol ring just to ban Wizards symbol of the format
just make a snappy looking image lining out all the changes and I bet it'd be easy to get around
>>98147946 Off put? No. Disgusted? Yes. But in a threat assessing situation where two players are even in that regard, UB is such an easy way to tie break the situation, and if both advantageous positions are playing UB cards (which WOTC has been pushing design for let's be honest) I target the cringier of the two.
>>98148256 I feel like we couldnt make our own banlist since it'd just be another ban committee thing that someone wanting to try it would have to think "oh what cards are banned and what are unbanned compared to regular edh?" when its easier to say everything on the game changers and ban list is banned + sol ring and a new player would instantly get it
>>98148262 this one I can see though, reusing an old rule and having to explain the sacrifice again would get annoying also itd be funny to see a future update where wizards gets rid of commander damage and we just keep it in this hypothetical format
>>98148309 You pay three life and get access to another card in your deck. At worst, you pitch it. At best, you pitch it because you're in mono-black and the graveyard is just another hand.
>>98148406 I never said Griselbrand. For the record I think Krrik is the best mono-B commander that will ever be printed unless the game really reaches a dark age, but it's still going to be insane for card advantage. The main difference between this and Ad Naus is that you can't just leave five mana open up for a rotation to pop off, but with how proactive tables are getting I don't really see that being a problem. idk. Maybe it's a weird ground between Ad Naus and Necropotence. Either way, it's still a card I'd watch for mono-B. Could be pubstompy.
>>98148436 Ad Naus can easily draw 40+ cards in a low-to-the-ground CEDH deck (while dodging Bowmasters). MODOK's not coming anywhere close to that, but it will probably make some waves in regular EDH. Goes apeshit with Vilis (but what doesn't in black).
>>98148224 >classic edh >everything in the "game changers" list and ban list is completely banned surely you meant "completely unbanned" as things were in the good old days
I almost got extremely excited, forgot Umbral Mantle's ability costs 3 and wasn't free. Would've been super neato as a free infinite, but generating infinite mana is pretty trivial these days I guess
