it was a pretty good theme
>flopped
It didn't.
It was a china-oriented line and did pretty well and was just finished just like any other lego's Sub-theme that goes around ~3 years.
Most of americans and europeans didnt see any sets from it.
I personally was buying Monkey Kid sets ONLY when i was visiting hecking Rome's official lego shop on my working trip.
i have never seen Monkey Kid sets in real life outside that store.
but i understand-they were China market sets exclusives...
they were one of the best themes.
Their TV-Show was top tier.
it was 2D instead of crappy 3D like Ninjago.
i wish lego tv-shows were like that instead: https://youtu.be/J77611e0J-Y

1:42 forgot to put a gear; fix it
2:16 put the wrong connector, confused with gear connector, disassembled the whole repart and fixed it
8:41 put wrong beam, disassembled it, and fixed it
11:22 something fucked up in bag 5 fixed it
19:07 put actuator in wrong orientation, reassemble the entire control room
I think I am actually disabled, I think. is it concentration disorder? who knows
at least had no problem to getting replacement parts if you sent an email on the box or contacted the seller (some of seller doesn't' respond)

So weird the Indiana Jones license was half assed this last time around. It’s like they cancelled it before they even had 4 sets on shelves. It was really successful the first time with a wide range of sets. But hey maybe with Indiana Jones being sunset by Disney lego will abandon the need for a license and make the next iteration of Adventurers (don’t @me about city)

Nothing right now. I built that animal crossing set with the tent and the red rabbit dude who jumps over the waterfall
>what percentage of your collection is from your childhood?
70%. But i have a large collection
>do you build Mocs mostly or mainly build sets?
Mostly Mocs recently. But I have plenty of sets
>do you have any unopened sets? Why aren’t they open?
A lot. I buy sets I know I want on sale. But I don’t really have space for them until my living situation changes. Coincidentally a lot of them went up in value so I think I might sell them. Problem is I hate selling stuff online.
>were any of your Lego given away to friends/neighbors/family?
No. My family likes to save stuff.
>what was your first set?
6339 Shuttle Launch Pad sort of. My brother got that for Christmas but I’m the one who played with it. 6190 Aquazone Shark Crystal Cave was my first set.
>what theme/license do you own the most of?
Star Wars followed closely by fantasy castle.
>what theme do you wish you had more of?
Western
>what do you want lego to do next?
A full castle or western theme. With a range of sets at different price ranges

lol I forgot they made a 5th movie with a super old Han Solo! Lego could have re-used the new hat mold but with grey hair
I can't remember much about the movie to think of what they could have made a set from. um.. didn't they fly on a plane back in time? Lego commits to sets before they know if the movie flops or not.
I remember thinking the move wasn't awful. not amazing, but not bad either. very mid movie, which is good these days

The Ganon saves this set, kind of bland otherwise. $130 for Ganon and the minifigures.

NOT whatever other sites (reddit?) that YOU are using.
just because YOU get your leak pics from some other site, doesn't mean other people will go to those same sites. what part of that can't you understand???
>>
>>
>>11677609
Nobody would look at that. Also, post new set images in a thread, this is an image board after all, so I don’t get the problem. Let’s say you post it once in one thread, a new set, and then someone else posts it because they want to talk about it. There’s nothing wrong with that. I really don’t get the problem, but I don’t have autism, so maybe that’s why.
When /vp/ pics got out, all /lg/ only talked about that so it's clear majority here DO care about leaks and the only one who doesn't is you. So stop talking for everyone.

>how dare you shit on my beloved Bonkle reeee
Ah yes, Lego Bionicle, the so-called theme that "SAVED" Lego in the early 2000s, and the proof is... your ass?
Cmon, Bionicle was a FLOP, hated by the company that made it. Lego executives HATED IT, they hated Bionicle. Lego Star Wars and Harry Potter saved the company not Bionicle. So stop lying.

>kk is finally out

How will this affect the lego star wars theme?
>>
>>
>>
>>11677696
No matter how you feel about KK or Filoni. I think the big danger here is that Lucasfilm has lost it's power name at the top. These two do not have the pedigree that Kennedy does and no matter what these two have planned there will be a shift in the power balance away from Lucasfilm and more towards the Disney board because her name still carries tremendous weight in the industry.
This might go better, this might go worse than the KK era. But I bet it Star Wars looks more like corporate Disney proper going forward.
As for Lego? We know Lucasfilm/Disney usually mandate what sets to get made, so who knows. OT will always have the big part of the pie anyway as Lego will need to make money.

More flops incoming, because this is their next project. I hope Lego won't waste sets spots for this trash. Unironically the only Wars flick I'm excited for is Levy's Starfighter because it's produced by Goose.
Also, any info on our first Goose set, Project Hail Mary?
>>
>>11677696
no noteworthy change
kk was bad as the lucasfilm head, but that was primarily because of her hiring decisions, which damaged the brand don't get me wrong, but the actual rot started with abrams and only festered in the years since because they had already invested billions into the shit he started
filoni is a suckup yesman who likely will just push his oc's even harder than he already has, i don't see star wars ever getting 'saved' outside of disney selling the brand to someone else and they scrap everything that happened under disney's tenure

Why can’t The Lord of the Rings or The Legend of Zelda, IPs with so much potential for full themes and years of waves, get the same kind of theme treatment as Harry Potter? Look at how many HP sets we get every year; we already seem to get a remake every two years. Meanwhile, Zelda and LotR are kept under the 18+ branding with expensive sets. Why? Zelda in particular would work incredibly well with the same treatment as Harry Potter.

you should be able to copy-paste the part number into Bricklink
Bricklink has an Advanced Catalog Search hidden among the menus, where you can pick the part (minifig torso) and color, and maybe narrow it down with a key word, or sort by year-released, or something, to find it

Things can't always be great. Just be glad for what good there is and just wait out the bad stuff. It all comes and goes.
The Space wave was hands down my favorite. Cool aliens and robots. The robot butler I imagined being like Bender, so I named him Blender. He's actually good at cooking but becomes angry and belligerent if he gets into the cooking sherry. And I just pieced the robot nurse together from eBay since I had no interest in the space baby. Let the collectors have it, I just wanted Cyber Sex. I actually got all the different color syringes and medical stuff from Pick a Brick to give her a more complete set of tools.

The simple answer is with lego didn't pay the licensor enough or the licensor didn't pay lego enough. It's a massive investment and if either party isn't confidant then they'll resort to AFOL slop that always makes a guaranteed return.

Am I genuinely the only person that likes terrain? I understand the price is ass rape but the set itself is compositionally well constructed. I would have liked to seen the whole roof battle arena but that's just not feasible with modern lego practice. I just really hate having minifigs floating around without context on a shelf.

Lego is not interested in "giving fans a set they want and can afford"
Lego is interested in mugging the consumer for as much as they can get away with
we have only ourselves to blame. and it's not even ME or YOU, it's "the general public" that enables Lego to keep doing this
realistically?... good for Lego. you can't be mad at them. be mad at the customer who buys that expensive set. if nobody bought those expensive sets, Lego would stop making them

I love terrain if it's normal, something you can easily expand to be bigger, something you can use to turn all elements of a set into a single thing when not in playmode, something to use as an interactive background when playing with the figs outside of it
the moment you corral the terrain in an elaborate immersion-breaking diorama frame its fucking ruined

Lego will eventually screw you with a REBBOFANK* set if you go for "complete collection"
(*Ridiculously Expensive Black Box Obviously For Adults Not Kids)
Lego learned that lesson well, from Star Wars fans
OR you'll wind up buying extra sets you don't really need with duplicate minifigs or whatever
it's highly unlikely that you will reap benefits from eventually selling "the complete collection!" for like, thousands of dollars. most collectors will just be looking for that one rare set you may be lucky enough to have
but... right now it seems like an obtainable goal(?) so I'm not going to say "don't" but... beware... I guess?

I ended up creating a notepad document thats priced out all the sets with which mini figures (and chaos emeralds) they come with. The only ones I'm missing is Metal Sonic and the new Silver that came out. The last minifig I'd want is probably Blaze, until they do a team Chaotix set and the sun miraculously explodes the next day.
Also, you're wrong in that the Sonic line actually started under a "Black Box Afol" line, with the first Lego Ideas set. I almost got it, as it's actually a different Sonic then the newer released sets, but the site went out of stock only just within the past year. Although, based on how these newer sets have been really small scale and basic, I wouldn't be surprised if the line ends soon

it's fine. it's mostly just stress relief for myself when I use it. like, my dumb acronym is just as dumb as the sets being so expensive. so please don't take it seriously or get mad when you see it.
I'm well aware that you can't force a meme by lame self-repetition. and that type of repetition will actually doom the meme instead
I do wish the fandom would create a term already. I'm too lazy to look up and see if there's some kind of consumer-industry-standard term for Overpriced Product That Exists Only To Milk Money Out Of Consoomers (OPTEOTMMOOC?)

I've been thinking on this. I think what most fans would have wanted is a Hyrule castle playset but that would have easily doubled the price and made the final battle arena dinky by comparison.
I think it's helping to think of this as a zooming in to a specific moment in the game. There isn't really anything interesting worth zooming out to at this scale.

>No one cared about spirit tracks but it exists
Spirit Tracks is my favorite Zelda game due to the fact that it's the only game where Link & Zelda work together the entire game. usually Link has to rescue Zelda, or she just shows up in the final battle or whatever
they use the same costumes as this latest set, so for example, you could buy the $130 Ganon set and use the Zelda & Link figures to make your own train. I'd like to spend less than $130, but I have no other option

>I legit hope we get more sets for Zelda.
it feels like Lego is happy to continue the current Lord of the Rings style "one big set per year" format for Zelda. the $300 tree sales were thin, so they're trying again at $130. so we might wind up with 1 set a year at $130
if the $130 set flops, too, they might go cheaper?! let's hope so! I'll do my part, and not be able to afford even a low-low $130...
it seems frustrating, Sonic, One Piece, Animal Crossing, Fortnite.... lots of things get multiple sets, why not Zelda?

There's only one film that could be something new that never had sets before releasing in that timeframe, that's Narnia. I really fon't know if the Netflix film would have enough characters to warrant a cmf.
Another could've been the legend of aang animated film coming in october but Paramount moved it for a streaming only release.
>>
>>11679079
>>11679081
If the cmf is Narnia then I suppose we get sets too, there are lots of creatures in the book they adapt (Magician's Nephew) so there is potential for fantasy beings:
>The Magician's Nephew features numerous fantasy creatures, including mythical beings like Fauns, Gorgons, Satyrs, Giants, and Harpies, alongside Talking Animals (like squirrels, bears), monstrous creations of Jadis (like Ghouls, Werewolves, Minotaurs), and unique beings like Wood-wights and the Green Witch (Jadis) herself, with many more appearing at Narnia's creation or as Aslan's subjects, making the exact count difficult but showcasing a rich variety of magical beings.
I also expect like 4-5 sets to go with it.

2026 film CMF is Street Fighter? Really the only new film coming out this year that can lend itself to 12 unique minifigs, has no prior Lego sets, and is family friendly enough to be accepted by Lego (its not as violent as something like Mortal Kombat). Maybe they'll also be releasing a Street Fighter battle stage set and you'll be encouraged to buy the cmf to fill out your roster of fighters. Also Street Fighter comes out October 2026 so a September release date for the CMF would be good timing for promotion.

this would be a solid hit (pun hehe)
so many people would want all of them
(myself included!)
and it's an easy 12 characters that makes "the whole thing" in one CMF
the moment of truth for Lego, though...
would they finally make "le FAT" minifig torso for E. Honda? Sumo Wrestlers take pride in their size, it would be dishonorable to give him a regular minifig torso with a lame rounded belly print
I still give it low odds. but maybe the tone of the movie is silly enough to entice Lego?

After careful consideration I decided I won't buy the Zelda set. It's such a slippery slope to start feeling like I have to start buying whatever Zelda crumbs they throw at me not to miss out on the collection(hell I immediately started thinking "well maybe it's time to get the deku tree then") when the reality is that they won't ever make 5% of all the Zelda things I could dream about. Yeah the battle is cool but that's in no way shape or form something that alone satisfies my Zelda fix, it's only cool in the context of how it could be a start for a complete Hyrule kingdom that will never be.

I'd lean to the Series 30 being based on He-Man: Masters of the Universe, hence the pic where the leaker is holding up a fluffy toy looking like the Lego figure is riding on its back (similar to He-Man riding on his trusty steed - Battle Cat)
Figures would probably be:
He-Man (Re-Use the sword piece from the Ocarina of Time set)
Teela
Man-At-Arms
Orko
Sorceress
Man-E-Faces
King Randor
Queen Marlena
Keldor/Skeletor (Spare head to swap)
Evil-Lyn
Beast Man
Trap Jaw
Then release a single set with a variant of He-Man, Brick-Built Battle Cat and probably a villain like Mer-Man.

Building the 2003 gunship from my spare parts, just need the top and wings. Probably mod the doors later on

I'm too lazy to look for a pic, but the Stewie one reminded me of the new Mini Disney Princess sets.
Lego better be careful, other companies can't copy THE MINIFIG but they sure can copy brick-built [thing-Lego!]
good luck to Brick Craft they seem to be slowly gaining ground. Lego could use some good competition to humble them back to reality

brilliant copy of the Funko POP! Figure box for maximum collect-ability. stackable, logo printed on the bottom. I hope they tested this for like, stacking 10 high or more. this could be it. we could be witnessing the creation of the real-deal WCW to Lego's WWF
if Brick Craft starts stealing actual market share (is that a term?) it might be fun to watch Lego lawyer-up finally with stops-copies-me!

If lego got spongebob back, they will NEVER be able to compete with what area x did.

thank "binge watching" TV for that little bit of social evolution
people are conditioned to CONSOOM the show, all at once, like eating a meal. yum yum while you eat it. YUM!!! hey everybody, isn't this the best meal ever?!! and then, it's over. you watched the show. you talked about how the [smart bricks] was dumb. you made all your points already. no need to repeat it.
one week later...
I remember I liked that show, but what happened? it's in and out of your mind with no retention at all. and it's cool. we're all talking about the next thing right now. Pokemon, was it? I think?
