Impressive but the like/dislike ratio is weird, there aren't as many likes (86k) as I'd expect (using dislike app there are like 13k dislikes). Do people not press like button anymore and only view?

I only hit like to help smaller channels get a boost in the algo, and even then I don't always do it.
A major studio with a multi-million dollar marketing budget doesn't need likes.
I liked the trailer but I didn't hit like. Add it to your stats if you want.

I didn't know and I care.
If it's still ongoing in two days maybe when. I buy Blast-Attak I'll snag a 2nd Stingor since my first one had a yellow blob of paint in his eye. Might get myself a Fright Zone now too since I've got all the vintage Horde

I was never gonna like these, I already hardly care for Masterverse.
Despite me not collecting Hot Toys I would actually be more interesting how they would approach a MOTU movie line.
I wonder if they'll make origins movie toys, toyified versions of the characters are way more attractive to me.

Apparently the adult DC line for 2027 will be 6.5 to go with Marvel Legends so it seems Mattel is doing this scale for other lines too.
So say goodbye to Masterverse scale.

>>
>>11689556
I just wish it was a bit taller but may be it will look fine on the shelves. At least these should be in stores by May, if not sooner, unlike McFarland or Hasbro's tie-in lines.
Wonder if One Piece got LEGO and the Barbie movie set got several, how long till they release Castle Grayskull in block pieces? Or will it always be the Mega Blocks version?

I think Masterverse is done. Mattel is gonna do Chronicles so you have this new 6.5 scale which is gonna be mandatory across all adult lines. I can't see them go back to Masterverse 7 inch when DC will be 6.5 and so are Kpop Demon Hunter collector figures (can be seen in the back). I don't collecr masterverse so I'm ok.
>>
>>
>>
>>11689603
Nice. I do have Masterverse, but I'd be fine with some of my MOTU figures being bigger than others since they are epic monsters and dudes and no emphasis was originally put into their relative heights (being originally designed as head swaps), if it all leads to all lines being compatible with each other and Hasbro's.
>>
>>
>>11689603
So what, Vintage Collection is over after like 8 figures?
Still, there can be only so many characters in the movie. Unless they'll stretch it out to the sequel, they'll have to make different sublines like Masterverse, right? And then what, continue where MV left of, start again come up with new genres?

I miss the old days when Toy Fair showed the entire year of products in one go. My friend’s dad worked high up in the old store chain called Hornsby’s. He came back from Toy Fair with a stack of these catalogs from each company. He’d show them to my friend but wouldn’t let anyone else look at them since they were confidential. I mean what were we going to do, take pics and post them on the internet??? When he wasn’t home we’d sneak into his office and go through them like looking at your dad’s Playboys or Ouis. It was like in the fall when the Sears or Service Merchandise catalog came and you’d stare at that thing for hours.
Either companies got lazy and can’t have the amount of stuff ready like they used to or like Toy Jewru said modern collectors couldn’t handle seeing the full year in one day and have to wait til next year for more. It could be just these lines of toys though, kids stuff may still do this. I noticed Toy Fair is still once a year and not several times.
>>
>>11689865
It’s because of Chinese knockoffs. They can produce items much faster and get them to market sooner than official brands, which is why this happens. At least, that’s what a LEGO representative told me, explaining why LEGO no longer reveals summer sets at Toy Fair and instead waits until much closer to the release date, and why they’re so hostile toward leaks. The manufacturers are just that fast. Seriously, there were tons of K-Pop Demon Hunters knockoffs on the market before Mattel could even start production. They really capitalized on the movie hype.
>>
>>11689870
Thanks good to know. Lego has become kind of a cult and the fanbase adults are pretty rabid. Still not as bad as the Disney adults though.
Kind of funny too is when a lot of those lines ended they didn’t want to ship the steel molds back so the Chinese kept them and pumped out stuff. It was shortly after I had bought my first house I was shopping for Easter baskets for my niece and nephew and I ran across one that had a full blown Transformers yellow Devastator and a red Defensor. I bought those for myself and got a lot of grief from some of my friends why the fuck did I buy those. They looked and moved the same but the colors were neat. I had not been buying toys since my younger days at that point but they really grabbed me. I’m sure they were knock offs but come to find out at a con that those were produced from the original toy molds the Chins supposedly “disposed of”. A few years later I ran across the Commemorative MOTU figs and fell down that rabbit hole but those were official.

The Kpop Demon Hunter action figures are basically for collectors and they won't be around that long. The fashion dolls will probably be around for a long time, though. It's always been that boys like action figures and girls like fashion dolls, and girls have been begging for Kpop Demon Hunter dolls ever since the movie came out. All my nieces were asking for them for Christmas and frankly I'm surprised the movie managed to have as much cultural hold as it did despite how badly Netflix and Sony botched everything about releasing it (it could have made a billion dollars in movie theaters, and it should have had a toy deal in place in time for Christmas).
Lego Friends style Kpop Demon Hunter legos are the other big thing that my nieces were asking for. If Lego doesn't have a deal in place for it we're going to see bootleg lego characters for them everywhere, I guarantee it.

Its weird they are moving to 6.5in now when before they had Origins at the 5.5in scale, the 200x line at 6in and Masterverse at 7in
These Mattel people are schizophrenic on their scales. Why can't they pick one and stick to it?
>>
>>11690134
If theyre doing 6.5 like their WWE are 6.5, most are already at 7". With this movie line and new articulation scheme, I think whatever this scale will be will be the main one going forward, for both MOTU and DC.>>11690121
>>
>>11690134
part of me thinks they just realized 6.5 is what most collectors seem to want, but the cynic in me recognizes this way they can sell you he-man and man at arms yet again; its not like many people seem to actually like masterverse even all these years later

Mondo's always been attractive looking but expensive even compared to imports, which these aren't. This is actually less than I would have expected Mondo to try to charge.
The other weird thing is I never hear or see anyone go on and on about Mondo's articulation or anything along those lines. It's always, "Look at how fuckable Poison Ivy looks."
>>
>>11690209
Outside of the US it's no tariffs but we're getting hit by customs for sure. I calculated Clawful's like final cost and it's probably around 350cad+. I think I'll be willing to pay these prices a for a few more characters. Or who knows, maybe I commit and go all in. I don't get why they cant sell these to retailers.
>>
>>11690224
their paint and sculpts are good, but the articulation on their stuff is always pretty basic, I don't really feel theres a lot to talk about with when it comes to their figures, they look good and it pretty much ends there, either thats enough for you to want them or it isn't
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11690209
>>11690213
I paid $165.00 for my limited skeletor to ship to my shit hole country, and THEN I'm still gonna need to pay import fees.
That's probably gonna be it for me tho, most of the other figures looks cool, but there's other lines I wanna collect, these prices are crazy.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11690389
That's a later addition. The original figure was promoted as a spy with different eyes to spy with. 200x added a little drone.
Yes, they could have done any or all of that but no, gun, because.. tacticool?
>>
File: file.png (629.8 KB)

>>11690175
After considering my options I've decided to go with a mix of 3D print and scratch build. I could do the entire thing as a print but that would require a lot of filament and end up being very heavy, plus the tactile experience of scratch building seems a lot more fun to me. I foresee a lot of pink foam, mod podge and putty in my near future.
I'm currently printing the scaled up gate. The center section will be 2 over feet tall when it's assembled, but it's gonna take about 3 weeks of printing. I'll have plenty of time to question my life choices.

I'm so torn on buying him now.
He's my favorite remaining vintage character, but if I could resist "gotta have him NOW" I bet he'll be on sale himself by summer and who knows what else might release between now and then that I might also want?
Of course, flip side , I could buy him now and potentially just be done with MC forever (if the theory that Two Bad will eventually be fan channel ends up correct and if MC releases almost nothing of value this year like they did last year)

I’m pretty sure new Eternia man at arms with the swappable helmet and young old head will work on the chronicles man at arms if you don’t want a race swap on your shelf. The movie head sculpts seem to intentionally be more caricatures than 1:1 scans so stylistically it shouldn’t stand out.

What about it led to it getting a lot of views? MotU isn't exactly foremost in the public consciousness still. Well, it may be after that trailer. But I wonder why. Not negative on it, just wondering how it attracted so many people?

These all look surprisingly good. I'd hope that Teela has a staff, and Tri-Klops has a sword, but otherwise these look good. Whenever I see plastic capes or just fabric with no wire I can't help but wish other companies than McFarlane did wired capes for their retail lines. Maybe the margins are too tight, but it would be nice. Skeletor looks nice but the cape looks expectedly extremely stiff. Trapjaw looks exceptionally good.

Another kids roleplay item with little information was found, talking Skeletor mask. No clue if classic Skeletor to go with the Power Sword role play weapon found on Smyth Toys or movie version.

I've literally regretted every single MV I have ever bought. God-Lyn, jitsu, rev Skeletor, NE heman, he-ro, and the vykor set with the 3 kinds of armor. They were all garbage for me. I have high hopes that a smaller scale and more articulation will fix most of my issues with them.
>>
>>
>>11691158
I passed on the majority of Revelations figures, but grabbed a select few NE figures the Evil-Lyn is great, but has an extremely high level of QC problems with how her helmet is glued down. Some of the figures are just adult collector slop, made to fill a hole until they remake the same character, but better later on. Some are truly great, but the line has never been as good as Origins.

I'd have to think they'll make fewer because of that. I think this one looks quite a bit better than the Revelation one, but I admit I'm apprehensive given how low the prices previously went. I'd want to support it (cause who knows what other vehicles the might make if it does well) but I'd also rather pay much less than retail where possible.

Saw this on Facebook, a better look at Skeletor. The costume designer for the movie said they went away from a bone motif for Skeletor and used more snakes because he lives in Snake Mountain. I'm assuming he wasn't clued into the lore, or maybe Axel was feeding him input.

Expect more movie toyline reveals until NYTF. Mattel and Amazon consider toy reveals part of the marketing and there will be lots of He-Man content up until June 5 release. This is the year of MotU.
And there are plans post movie release with a new tv series and more...

These will be closer in scale to Origins. The big question here is whether that means Masterverse is dead and these are the replacement. It also means Chronicles and Origins can share vehicles and playsets.

It says it in the document announcing Chronicles that they're 5.5 inches and will scale with other MOTU lines. Ramen Toys, who leaked photos from the show, posted on Facebook that they're smaller than Masterverse, confirming the information that it's 5.5. And now we have Entertainment Weekly photos showing them in hand and that they're small.

I have no beef with the guy (heh), but at the very least his looks are already good match for Keldor, so we'll see.
>>
>>11691313
They're not, they're clearly Origins/Cartoon collection scale. Masterverse is a dead and abandoned scale. And Mattel isn't going to make playsets that scale for 6.5 figures. However, at 5.5, you could throw these in your existing playsets.
>>
>>11691317
The move to 5.5 for adult figures is interesting. The Chronicles branding implies this isn't limited to only movie figures. We could have a 5.5 Mastersverse style sculpts, but have them in our Castle Grayskull, or Snake Mountain, or Fright Zone. It really opens things up.

Ok, let's entertain for a bit the idea these are 5.5 inches, then what are First Ones going to be size wise? The Chronicles figures do not look to work with other Origins figures and the parts can't be combined and also, they are more expensive. Will First Ones even look good? What are they gonna be like? How can they make playsets for BOTH Chronicles and First Ones at the same time...

More than likely was, because they greatly upped their quality, but there was also a certain segment of the fans who really wanted Classics style figures, but Mattel didn't want to remake or reissue figures they already made, since collectors already owned them and wouldn't buy figures they already had. I recall Pixel Dan purposely fucking everyone over in the Origins fan poll, telling everyone to vote for mini comic Tri-Klops instead of Anti-Eternia Keldor, because Dan thought he could use the parts to make a Classics mini comic Tri-Klops. Dan was always kinda half hearted on Origins and kept pushing for Masterverse.
>>
>>11691342
Nah, just pointing out that the CGI line was a similar scale, but also sat comfortably next to Origins and Masterverse. If First Ones replaced something it would either be that or Origins, and would perhaps also be around 5.5 inches since the CGI show was close enough.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11691357
In his video discussing the figures he badly tries to twist the information Ace from Ramen toys relays to him. Ace tells him they're close to 6 inches. Then Dan starts theorizing that this means they're Marvel Legends scale, which is what Dan wants them to scale as, because he refuses to believe Classics is over. He doesn't seem to realize "around 6 inches" implies 5.5 scale, which is Origins and Cartoon collection scale.

I mocked up my New Eternia Castle Grayskull scratch build in Photoshop and the first of the 3D printed bits is on my printer (the gate). It's going to have a helluva imposing presence at about 30 inches tall. Current plan is to make it modular so that it can be stored when I'm not using it. I'm going to use the wood glue+ toilet paper technique to give the build a consistent stony texture.

There's a couple of cool figures, but right from the beginning that buck is ugly as hell, like half the head sculpts are ugly as shit and while NE is an interesting concept some of the takes where basically the classic/vintage toy.

I don't think New Eternia is going away, I think it might get a price increase though. Mattel isn't going to replace their 7" collector line with a 5.5" collector line that's smaller than stuff like GI Joe Classified and Marvel Legends. I think they're doing Chronicles because they want a figure line that fits the classic vehicles and Castle Grayskull sets that people are familiar with, and this is a backdoor price increase on the bigger 7 inch figures which are probably going to be $30 or more standard going forward, and depending on how well Chronicles sells, New Eternia might be less available.
The purpose of Chronicles, from what I can tell, is to be a collector line that scales with Origins. You have the Origins scale toys with play features as the main focus, and then you have Chronicles in a similar size while being more detailed and realistic for adult collectors.
Personally I don't like the idea of introducing a new scale, I think they should have just done the collector figures in New Eternia scale, but again, there are a lot of people who might be coming back to MOTU for the first time in like 30 or 40 years who might even still have an old Castle Grayskull in their attic and they expect the new toys to be that size. Although personally, one of the things that I love about the New Eternia figures is that they're as big in my adult hands as the original toys were in my child-sized hands, and the same goes for the likes of GI Joe Classified and Star Wars Black Series.

Any one notice that "first ones" and "origins" are very close in meaning ? Or is that just plainly obvious ?
To me that means those first ones will basically be origins and the other movie masterverse just with different hype names.
