Honestly excited for the He/Him movie and i hope it's good. I'm not going to be any of the toys though, because movie toys

Whoa whoa whoa what did I miss? When was this? Are they going to give us Pythonus after all?
>How excited are you for the movie?
Kind of excited. I want it to be good and the trailer looks good. Going into it cautiously optimistic like another anon said.

In a video promoting POG they were shown off with no specific atttention drawn to them so Pythonus isn't technically announced for release.

I'll probably buy one of the movie toys. I wonder if they will make that space ship. And I'll get a good laugh when they release the Barbie doll equivalents.

I haven't seen anything but I've been off line from some of that stuff for a few days, I didn't know the trailer dropped until I got home tonight.

It'll flop. Never underestimate the power of memes, and He/Him-Man has a good one. Idris Elba once again race-flipping a White dude isn't helping, either.

Who thought that this looked good? This isn't Evil-Lyn. This is Evil-Lyn's lesbian sister right before she gets shot in the face by an ICE officer after ramming him with her Honda. Do they even consider visual aesthatics in toys in the MOTU line?
>>
>>11685119
Nah, it will be a hit. Screencap my post, it will make around $960 million and if it doesn't I'm gonna eat a MotU figure. And film it.
>>
>>11685119
I think pronoun shit is retarded, BUT it's funny in this case and at least makes "sense" as a joke.
>>
Talked with someone who will be at Nuremberg Toy Fair and told me they will show the movie toys there, he also said Mattel is preparing a huge GLOBAL launch for the toyline. They want Masters to be everywhere. No matter how the film will do or it turns out, we will have a big year for MotU with great toys.
>>
>>11685128
Two of the three primary characters are race-flipped. It's not a joke. This movie is full-woke.
>>
I think the movie looks fun.
>>
>>11685122
I like that look but the elbows look like shit.
>>
>>11685140
Stop race-flipping. Replacement isn't inclusion. Replacement is replacement. You'll figure it out in five years when the movie Man-At-Arms and Teela figures are STILL in Ollie's and Ross.

Who's the guy with horns? Knowing Mattel's MO for naming characters, it's something like "Horn-Man," isn't it?

I just want to see the Evil-Lyn figure to see if they give her a decent face because they always give her ugly faces "because she's evil and stuff," and villians are always the ugly ones.

Goat Man
>>

That's no more creative.

With that horns? How about Ram Man?
>>
>>11685218
ok? he's from a children's book from over 40 years ago. they gave all the characters "real names" and everyone hated it for being dumb.

>>
>>11685249
You aren't a fan, Ram Man already exists
>>
>>11685119
The He/Him joke is legitimately funny; using it against the movie doesn't have any serious legs.
>Idris Elba once again race-flipping a White dude
Maybe, and this might sound crazy, but maybe the reason they cast him was more because of things like "based action-dad role model to the MC and adoptive father of the female lead" literally being on his CV?
>>
>>11685288
Ignore them bro, they came from the shithole called /tv/ to shit up the place, it was inevitable. The movie could be Oscar worthy and they would still hate it. They are here only to kill all the fun and discussion because they are sad low life losers with not pussy.

>>
>>11685317
I used to just shitpost about her but now if I ever would cheat on my wife, it would have to be with Jewish girl cosplaying as Razz.

Also the movie missed the opportunity to cast our girl Tiff Smith as live action Andra. We already know she can do the voice.
>>
>>11685322
Tiffany Smith looks better than Andra because she has straight hair and the animators felt they had to give a black character ugly hair for social justice. So that would be an improvement.

>>
>>11685447
I like the girl playing Teela. 10/ Would spam her nudes to Mattel's inbox.
It's her hair that make her look worse. It needs to be combed, she looks like she just had a shower and didn't dry it.

Good news lads, motu toys start to finally show up at retail in my 3rd world shithole, we got whole wave of motu 200x. Should I go ahead and grab them or wait for movie figures? I'm very excited for the movie and not sure if I should start collecting both or one collection.
>>
>>11685421
Roboto is the only design so far that I don't actually like. I think the rest look decent or good. Adam looks good mixing how he'd dress on Earth yet still looking like Adam. Although I do wish he had a more accurate hair style like I do for Teela.
Cringer/Battle Cat is surprisingly really good looking to me. CGI animals can easily go south, so that final design makes me happy. I hope the inevitable battle armor for Battle Cat looks good too.
>>
>>11685468
I don't mind Roboto so much because it's a character that's so easy to update design-wise. Either she (given the VA) gets damaged and repaired, or simply updated. Agree that it looks a bit weird AS Roboto, but given how close everyone else is (I'm not really a fan of what we've seen of Spikor though...), I wouldn't be surprised if an upgrade that updates her look to a more common look will happen.

I cannot feign the slightest bit of enthusiasm for this dreck. To those who look forward to it, I hope you have a wonderful time, but it really does appear to be the ultimate culmination of cinema's worst trends from the last 10 years. The hour grows late and if this fails to resonate with today's kids the franchise is basically dead and buried. There's basically no winning.

The 1987 movie is genuinely good. It's only failing is that ending. Say what you will about Lundgren but he had just as much prescence as Langellator. I cant say as much for this movie's cast. They look like the line up from Concord.

>>
>>11685853
I have no real problem with the ending. All of the bullshit on Earth and some crap about Monica's dead parents took up valuable real estate that could have been given to riding a Harryhausen-esque Battle Bones though the jungles of Eternia. That's what I wanted to see as a kid, not some bootleg Orko stealing buckets of ribs from a drive in.
>I cant say as much for this movie's cast
Most of the cast seem fine.
I hate Jared Leto and think he's hit or miss. Sometimes he works, sometimes he's a charisma vacuum.
I might not be happy with the race swap, but Idris Elba fucking exudes screen presence, more than Cypher who played MAA in the 87 movie. So much that he completely overshadowed everyone else in Pacific Rim.
James Purefoy was great in Rome. Hafthor Bjornsson dominates the screen too. Allison Brie is great in most shit she is in. And the guy playing Fisto was one of the leads in Vikings: Valhalla, and he did great. Wiig is whatever, but she's just a voice in this.
Really the only unknown quantities are Mendes, who I doubt will be as forgettable as Scott Bakula's wife in the original. And Galitzine, who I haven't seen a single thing he's in. He's the biggest question mark.
>>
>>11684919
I’m excited for the movie, but Jesus, this is going to be a wild ride until release. I want /tv/ to leave this general alone, they’re going to turn it into a nightmare instead of just enjoying the hype. Some of the hate this movie gets is fucking ridiculous, and it honestly feels like proof of low IQ.
>>
>>11684919
This is my most anticipated movie of the year but I'm scared of future potential sequels not happening because it might underperform either because of competition or hate from retards. Personally I expect a solid film and I trust the test screenings that the film will be a good time. Oh well, I'm still gonna enjoy the marketing and toys! Can't wait for Toy Fair reveals!

>>11685937
Totally agreed.
>>
>>11685937
>>11685942
Everytime /tv/ hates something it means it will be a hit and I have yet to see this fact be proven wrong. So I expect this to be a hit. Dunno if $1 billion hit but enough to get the sequel greenlit like Superman did, maybe $700-$800 million.
>>
The movie actually looks... good?
>>
>>11685975
Yep, I trust Knight
>>
Went ahead and ordered Dragstor and Great Black Wizard finally. And I will be frustrated if they go on sale when Blast Attack releases.
>>11685937
Same, thankfully(?) most /tv/ don't seem to like it, so I think most will dismiss it entirely. They don't seem interested in movie toys and stuff anyway from my experience. Some of the complaints I saw for the trailers made my brain hurt. I feel bad for some of them, social media and /pol/ pessimism can really warp your perception of things.
>>
>>11685991
Same, but remember /tv/ did the same with Minecraft and Barbie and both made lots of money so lets hope its the same here.
>>
>>11685991
Seems to be common to hate things immediately these days. The way most things have sucked and been made to be hostile and antagonistic including how creators and actors handle criticism and fan interaction with a distinct for the audiences makes it so easy to assume everything is shit now.
So we come into this movie with that being the mindset. My friends irl and online have all been shitting on this movie but I refuse to listen. I am going to defend this movie until I see it. Its naive but I'm going into this movie with blind optimism. I want this to be good. I need it to be good. And honestly if you don't have at the barest minimum at least 30 MOTU figures I don't consider you even close to a fan and don't give a fuck about your opinion.

Truly surreal for me to see MOTU getting this much attention. They have been trying to bring this franchise back to the Mainstream since New Adventures, and funnily enough the closest they've come recently was with the She-Ra series on Netflix, and that still ended up sorta going under the radar before it finished. This genuinely feels like the last chance for them to make MOTU into a mainstream franchise again, so it'll be really interesting to see how this goes with the actual film. I'm on the younger side of the He-Man fandom having just recently turned 27, so like, this was never a property where I had tons of people to talk to about it. I got into MOTU via Pixel Dan in like 2010 (with my first exposure being 200x when I was super little) ... so like, for me, this is the most mainstream attention I've ever seen He-Man get in my lifetime, and it's pretty cool to witness.

The official Amazon Prime/MGM account has it at 16M+ views, and that's just North America since Sony is doing the trailers everywhere as they are doing the international distribution. Sony's German has 1.5M+ for example, so the movie will probably play like Jurassic World and F1 did this year and do a lot better internationally than it will in the states.

1B or even $700-800M is doubtful right now, but it should make Dune money - Mandalorian will make some money but won't make as much as it would have years ago, and it's not like Mortal Kombat will be THAT huge,
Dune money is probably enough for Mattel to want a sequel and for Amazon to play along since they don't have any huge theatrical tent poles besides Bond. They really should figure out something really spectacular as a story, while Rickman is still young and healthy enough to do a lot of his own stunts, and do a series of Reacher movies.

>Maybe, and this might sound crazy, but maybe the reason they cast him was more because of things like "based action-dad role model to the MC and adoptive father of the female lead" literally being on his CV?
I'm afraid that is some hard cope, my friend.
They managed to find a decent He-Man, Fisto, Ram Man, even Teela seems to somewhat fit the role, there is no reason to assume they couldn't find a white middle aged muscle daddy that'd fit the role.
A good chunk of vintage MotU fans are already halfway there. The only issue would've been casting a guy not buried under full body tats.
No, MAA and Tri-Klops are as mandated as they come. It was a conscious decision.
>>
>>11686067
Is it really him? Whole body looks to be cgi and stunt double so does a voice role really count so much?
>>
>>11686068

I will never forgive Paramount for not giving Travis Knight a full on Transformers reboot. I hope this film is a hit and Knight will make more live action films.
>>
My two cents about all the complaining online about the trailer.
I get why so many are having a knee jerk reaction and seem predisposed to hating. But I think both sides are being a but disingenuous. We are coming out of a 15 year stretch where all of the nostalgic heroes have been deconstructed with race swaps, girl bosses, social justice messages, reboots, reimaginings and bad writing. In short our expectations have been throughly subverted. You are being intellectually dishonest to deny these things have been happening, leading to a target audience on a hair trigger looking for reasons to dismiss the movie as woke.
But on the other hand, it's not my fault that autists didn't get the pronoun joke. Even my wife chuckled softly at that.
Casting Idris as MAA isn't some huge slap in the face because movie studios need to cast name recognition actors because that puts butts in theater seats. Thats not a cope. That's a reality. Do you really think some jew was rubbing their hands together in some evil plot over this? To what end?
Its bullshit when you get stuff like King Grayskull being black in the netflix show, or the Nu-Ra were all characters are gay, brown and ugly. But judging from the trailer they aren't cutting down He-Man and see like they are trying to be respectful to the source material. Black MAA seems more like politics of the movie business than politics of culture.

The test screening info we had was pretty accurate to what we saw so I trust it when they say 90% of the film is on Eternia. I say 10 minutes on Earth or 15 at max from 2 hours. This film will be opposite of '87.

Yeah. That's why MAA got race-flipped because Elba isn't the only actor out there. That's also why Teela got race-flipped.

And the director is a fucking nepo-baby who only got the job "because."

BUT this is the /toy/ board so it comes down to the toys. I am genuiely curious as to what style they'll go with. I'd prefer they go "Classified" style with high details or at least "MOTU 200X style" with good details but still a cartoon touch. The absolute worst style they could go with is "1980s" style with shit proportions and that weird leg stance.

Teela is race flipped? Making April O'Neil tubby brown is a race flip. Movie Teeela looks the part...no one except people looking for reasons to be offended are in this purity spiral "shes not the right kind of white" nonsense.

This is the first nostalgia bait movie for millennials that doesn't look completely antagonistic. If there was a Jewish plot, they would be making gay jokes about He-Man and having him be upstaged by minorities at every turn. Even that weird Chip and Dale movie cameo where he was afraid of chipmunks and grabs his ankles....that was clearly subversion. Casting an actual movie star to balance out the lesser known names of the rest of the cast is business.
>>
>>11686126
>no one except people looking for reasons to be offended are in this purity spiral "shes not the right kind of white" nonsense.
I can remember a time where Hispanics were often counted as white so long as they spoke without a Mexican accent, like Lynda Carter or Jessica Alba.
>>
>>11686132
You're running the joke into the ground, dude.
>>
At any rate leaked pics of the toys should be hitting soon. Mattel can't hide them forever. That's ultimately what we buy on this board.

>>11686138
Mexicans were only ever really counted as "White" in crime stats to hide how much crime Latin American immigrants commit in America while inflating White crime stats so Black people can say "SEE LOOK AT THE CRIME STATS WHITES ARE JUST AS BAD AS WE ARE!" And Alba was counted as White when she wore blue contacts and a blonde wig to play a White character (Sue Storm and Nancy Callahan).

>>11686126
Hispanic is not White. She's race-flipped. And her costume looks like a Tron legacy reject.
>>
>>11686147
Eterians aren't white in the sense that they are on a different planet and don't have European ancestry.
Take the win that they didnt cast a brown landwhale for Teela. Besides isn't Motu way more popular in South America?
Sounds like they made a casting decision to appeal to that audience who would also appeal to regular guys who just want to see a thin pretty girl. Smart move, if I may say so.

Ok guys, let’s say in a hypothetical scenario that Masters of the Universe becomes a huge global hit and Amazon MGM greenlights a sequel. Who should be the villains, the Horde or the Snake Men?

I think if the film is a hit, a trilogy would be perfect to let all of them shine, but I’d be really curious to know who you think should be used first.
>>
>>11686266
Snake Men, they were only used in 200x
>>
>>11686246
Just watch the 2002 series. It, regrettably, doesn't have that many episodes.
>>
>>11686266
I think Snake men first, at least if they are keeping Hordack's connection to skeletor, seems way better to save that for the end.
>>
>>11686282
But Snake Men would work best if Kobra Khan is in the first movie as an Evil Warrior.
>>
>>11686151
Fun fact: the newspaper comic showed the first Eternian humans and they were white Etherians.
So folks like Clamp Champ are descended from white ancestors, unlike Earth's "Out of Africa".
>>

Horde is more interesting, even if they get denied the rights to Adora.
>>

The cool part is there are several interpretations of lore, depending on where you look. The comics, toy lines, cartoons, casettes, and movies all have their own lore canon. The basic story beats are mostly still there across them all.
The new movie seems to be following a similar structure with some changes to the story. For example: Adam being sent to Earth to be raised I don't think is in any other stories that I'm aware of.
Here is a good video to help get you started. There are other videos covering the series, but I think this one does a good job going over the origins of the series and what it became:

Will Cringer talk?
>>
>>11686346
The trailer literally opens with Adam saying "things like talking tigers, spaceships, swords that give you God like powers... are real"

Did you even watch the trailer? That seems like solid confirmation Cringer will talk and he looks intelligent.
>>
I'm surprised no toy leaks happened before the first trailer, they usually happen all the time. Not even a toy list.
>>
>>11686350
That could be a nod to the classic cartoon, Cringer didn't talk in 200x.
>>
>>11686352
I think he will talk, ans why say talking tigers in the trailer then? It will dissapoint people otherwise... watch the trailer and look at Cringers face when they arrive, he looks smart, like an anthropomorphic animal. Like Aslan in Narnia.

>Multi-Bot shipping now
I need some help. I was huge into the original MOTU as a kid in the 80s; watched the show on TV, collected the figures, and even experienced great disappointment and confusion seeing the Dolph Lundgren film in the theater. (Hyped for the new movie though, shit looks so cash.) Now I have my own 4-year old son. God bless my mother because she saved my old He-Man toys, and now my son gets to play with them. He ripped the legs off a few and we had a good experience watching youtube videos of people repairing them. I was pretty excited when I found the MOTU Origins line and realized I can even more personally vicariously re-experience childhood through my son. So I have bought him a few figs here on Amazon and ebay and there and it seems like the average low price is $20.00. But I am not an action fig collector so I don't know what I don't know. I got him a Modulok for Christmas and we love it. I see there is a Multi-Bot coming out, which I would love to buy but apparently it was some kind of pre-order special? When these start showing up on Amazon will they only be from private sellers? Can someone please explain this to me and tell me the best place to buy one and how much I should expect to pay? Also second question: What is the MOTU Origins "Cartoon Collection" line? This is confusing because isn't the entire toy line based on the cartoon? Any guidance is appreciated and thanks for reading my blog.
>>
>>11686818
Nah Amazon's selling it themselves, they're just sticking to the original release date.

Also the toyline came out a whole year before the cartoon did. Filmation simplified the designs for animation and the Cartoon Collection is based on those simplified designs, as well as including accessories based on the show.
>>
>>11686818
Cartoon Collection is like a sub-line of Origins because it uses the character designs from the Filmation cartoon. The structure of the toys (articulation, scale) is the same as the rest of the MOTU Origins line.

Put stuff that looks interesting on a wish list - like a wedding list registry. People don't realize the prices go up and down a lot so if you can be patient, you can grab a deal. A movie figure that was $30+ last summer is now $12 when I bought it.
This is especially true if you want extras of things to say have an army of, for example, Skelators for no reason at all besides they were cheap plastic crack.

Also, bonus points for playing with your son.

Apparently we should have the full scripts for the films MotU and I, Skeletor: Ruler of Snake Mountain "leaked" at some point this year. MotU was an epic LotR style film played by David S. Goyer and he wanted to make it a trilogy but WB considered it too risky. I, Skeletor was 1987 planned sequel which would have involved the snake men and Skeletor as lead.
>>

>>
>>11687163
I wish the Masterverse figures were a bit better constructed. I'm always excited to see new ones but then when you actually get them in hand theyre rarely that fun to play with because of the lackluster range, most noticeably in the hips, but also in the torso, arms, head. I'd love for them to give the line a bit of a reset, maybe put them in line with what they churn out for DC, or something more akin to the WWE Ultimate line (but also better than those, because those also feel a bit outdated).

I kind of feel this same way about Origins too, very excited about the product then a bit disappointed once I open it up, but with the in-built aesthetic and general retro feel, it's more forgivable than what's supposed to be a modern fully articulated figure that turns out disappointingly.
>>
>>11687151
Doesn't look too bad really. but it's highly unlikely that they'll do any large playsets due to the current state of toy prices, and how expensive it would be.

Humanity commits a tragic mistake by treating He-Man and the Masters of the Universe as a toy commercial for children. This is cultural blindness. He-Man is not a cartoon; he is an existential parable with blond hair. Prince Adam’s transformation is not marketing but Jung: the insecure Ego becoming the realized Self through ritual and will. “By the power of Grayskull” is not a slogan, it is a mantra against inner mediocrity.

Skeletor is not just a skull-faced villain but the Jungian Shadow: resentment, envy, and the chaos born from moral collapse. Eternia itself is a symbolic map of the psyche. Man-At-Arms is wisdom, Teela is responsible courage, Orko is the lesson of failure, and Battle Cat is strength tamed by friendship. This is psychology in the shape of action figures.

He-Man also defends values now considered almost radical: honor, sacrifice, protection of the weak, and a clear line between good and evil. In an era dominated by fluidity and what many perceive as a “gender-fluid dictatorship,” He-Man stands granite-like, sculpted in mythological testosterone, reminding us that order and stability still matter.

MOTU is the product of Conan, Ka-Zar, Frazetta art, Herculoids, and other such stuff of the era. Mattel wanted to compete and make money while dealing with the Star Wars juggernaut, so fantasy-medieval was an easy way to do it.

Throw in a lawsuit against the FCC to have the courts force deregulating children's entertainment so they can turn children's cartoons into infomercials to sell the toys.
>>
>>11687271
I mean for me overall is probably the vintage toy, no one has ever quite captured that look, not even origins.

I think Classics has the right build for a modern take but I never liked the face, and even their "toy inspired" head is not quite there and it weirdly sit too high on his neck.

Both mondo offerings (mondoverse and 200x) look pretty good, but that shit is expensive as fuck and the 1/6 scale one is huge, that's gonna depend on what you're looking for really.

If you only want origins or Master-verse specifically, I would personally stick with origins, I don't think there's a single "great" Master-verse He-man, the one that looks the less shit is the last revelations one they made, but even that I wouldn't call perfect.
>>
Hi, I came from /tv/ after watching the trailer and thought it was awesome. I watched the 200x series when I was a kid, so I have some history with the brand, but I never had any toys. I am looking to buy some figures for myself from that cartoon collection, but since I am more of a Lego guy, I wanted to ask how the wave releases work.

How long is one wave available, and how long is a figure in production? For example, will wave 1 figures still be produced when wave 2 comes out, or do they stop? Also, when is wave 2 expected to release?

I see that wave 1 is He Man and Tri Klops. Why is there no Skeletor in wave 1?
>>
>>11687271
For overall sculpt quality and aesthetics, probably one of the 200x ones. My personal favorite is 200x Skeletor. McFarlane was forcing everyone at the time to do toy sculpts at a higher level of detail, and it really shows.
>>
>>11687234
There's nothing deep about it. You over-analyze it.
>>
>>11687319
No.
>>
>>11687315
Your best bet is just to preorder them all from a site like BigBadToyStore. It has all of the first wave or so in stock, and everything else up for preorder. These figures stick around for a while, but like the last cartoon collection assortment, once heman is sold out you'll have to pay a scalper.
>>11687319
Begone. He-Man does tap into something deeper. Your cynical nature will not be able to corrupt it.
>>
>>11687315
>I see that wave 1 is He Man and Tri Klops. Why is there no Skeletor in wave 1?
Most toylines that sell products in waves work off the idea of at least one anchor in a wave, which is usually an A-lister (this general philosophy is to sell waves to retailers). He-Man and Skeletor are the A-listers, so they basically hold their waves together. You don't need both of them in a single wave in that sense. Same reason lots of Marvel waves will have Spider-Man or Wolverine, DC will have Batman or Superman, SW will have Darth Vader or Luke.
>>
>>11687360
Proof? How do ya know?
>>
>>11687312
Usually its a bit like the first wave sticks around for 4 or 5 months until the next wave moves in. And usually there are figured from the previous waves still hanging around even longer than that. It is a bit random what stays and what goes. Sometimed however a wave will sell out much sooner, like a few weeks and not get replinished or easily found in stores. Mattel is weird with distribution like that, so its a bit unpredictable. As long as you get them around the time of release then you'll be safe.
What others said: Best to preorder what you want ahead of time so you are guaranteed the figures. But also dont go want to go overboard and preorder everything, unless you really do want everything.
Also usually several figures go for discount, like 30% or more, so if there are some you kind of want but want to save money, then may be worth keeping an eye on them. For example, BBTS put up a ton of figures on clearance late last year so I got a lot of figures I wanted for 30% off. It was nice. The sales seem random though. If you are shopping in person, may want to check the clearance aisles at Target and Walmart every so often because usually MotU figures show up there eventually.

I just got Kobra Khan a few weeks ago and he has fully drop down hips. I don't know when they started to implemented them in the line, but holy fuck are they great.
My biggest issue with the articulation is that one side of the double jointed knees and elbows is so stiff that they might as well be singles. Even after loosening them up, one sider will always move better. I wish they could get the tolerances consistent.

>>
>>11687616

I don't think I'll need this one, though if I have their He-Man in-hand by the time this is available and I really like it and I really like the way this guy looks, then I may grab it. I'd generally like to avoid having to ship from Mondo directly since it costs a shit ton.

Like I wrote in my post, the trailer watches are good, but remember that the teaser for Superman had 3X what He-Man has managed so far so you're expectations - as I wrote - right now, should be Dune money, possibly better since the international is still strong - Sony India, for example, is 25% of the Amazon USA eyeballs. Sony UK is over 3M, Australia is 2M. If you combine all the foreign views (since Amazon's trailer site won't be what plays in their countries), it's probably close to double the Amazon count.

>Studios usually need ~2.3–2.5× production budget or ~break-even on total spend depending on backend deals.

>The studio only keeps ~50–55% of domestic and ~38–42% of international gross.

That means:

>Below ~$350M WW: Very unlikely to get a sequel

>$400–450M WW: Borderline — depends on strategy

>$500M+ WW: Sequel very likely

>What really decides it (beyond raw gross)
Sequel-friendly signals

>Even if it lands around $400–450M, a sequel could still happen if:

>Audience reception is strong (CinemaScore A– / B+ with good legs)

>Merchandising performs well (huge factor for Masters of the Universe)

>Streaming performance is strong post-theatrical

>International markets overperform (esp. Europe & Latin America)

>The sequel can be made cheaper or more efficiently

>This is a toyetic IP, which studios treat differently than original films.

I say $300 million worlwide is the maximum potential, I hope the budget is actually around $160 million which puts it around Godzilla x Kong New Empire budget.

>Studio uploads trailer
>other channels immediately copy it to upload on their own channels so they can make clickdollars
Not gonna lie. That's getting annoying.

>>11688039
She-Ra and the Horde are the "meat on the bone" they're no doubt leaving for a sequel. IF it performs well (I doubt it), then they'll probably do "Back to the Future/The Matrix/POTC" and film the next two sequels together.

>Merchandising performs well (huge factor for Masters of the Universe)
Man-At-Arms and Teela figures will still be found at Ollie's ten years from now along with Shuri-copters, split-helmet Namor, and Vice Admiral Holdo.
>>
>>11688053
Imagine if they film it back to back and we get snake men in 2 and horde in 3. Peak cinema.

>Have you seen the crazy amount of exclusives Storm pumped out for the Street Fighter Alpha Arena line in a short time? It’s downright ignorant.
That's exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that, first and foremost. Then there's also SexyIce's Eliminator with the yellow, those Ninja Turtles with the armor, etc.

the brazilian version has 13M views, which is insane to me. brazil absolutely loves he-man. I got my 61 yo mom calling me to tell me we had to watch this together lol.

As far as Instagram and similar socials, you have to remember that these are counting some people twice. That's why the studios and their marketing teams also care about things like how much it was mentioned and how much it was trending, so shit like TikTok and Xshitter matters there, even though neither is a good measurement for actual movies because a lot of the perpetually on-line people there - that's all they do - be perpetually on line. Not actually buy crap, much less toys, or go to theaters and pay for movie tickets.

Also, they need the extra push, like what Timothy did for Marty Supreme.

Too low unless more people were bitching about Leto (and he's not going to help at all), or bitching about the CGI, race swaps and shit like that, and most aren't.

Somewhere in the range of $200M (lowest) to $600M (highest) is a safe guess at the moment, because of the calendar and Sony and Prime marketing push.

Sony would like it to be a success since they missed out on the K-Pop Demon Hunter dollars and can't even capitalize on anything related to that since Netflix's contract already include maximums for any sequels. Sony would at least make money if this money sells a lot of tickets internationally, the way Warner Brothers made from the $400M+ that F1 did internationally, because it's deal with Apple was that it kept a higher percentage even thought all it did was theatrical distribution. MGM has always done this and hasn't been able to do stuff internationally so there's more money to be had with sequels as well.

>Leto (and he's not going to help at all)
Look at the cast. Leto is most likely going to be the best part of it when considering Hollywood committed another act of "gingercide" with a race-flipped redhead as well as Idris Elba once again playing the role of a White dude.

>Leto is most likely going to be the best part of it
For me, it's Annie's boobs...I mean Evil Lyn's milkers.

Is the Mondo MAA also going to be a Time Exclusive only like Clawful? Surely not... but it has no regular listing on their site.

Because "realism" MUST be dull. It's like how medieval movies must be gray-washed. And I guess they want this movie to be like totally super-serious, which means no bright colors except in special effects "magic energy."

No booba. They went away.

It is, they mention it in the post, extra mace, face (guessing the snake-man one) and base are the exclusive parts, both versions go up tomorrow.

He looks great tho, honestly I'm way more tempted to get him than He-man.
>>
>>11688260
>They went away
They aren't as big as they used to be, but they are still pretty good. It looks like they are only down one cup size. I bet if I fed her enough non-kosher cheeseburgers, I can build back better.

>>11688263
Ya but Clawful also has the same exact description, and he didn't have another version. The inactive listing for the Timed version is on their site, but there isn't one for a regular yet. Hoping there is though.

>But that’s not all ...
Available for a limited time, this deluxe Clawful™ 1/12 Scale Figure - Timed Edition includes exclusive extras inspired by our favorite episodes of the show, including an additional portrait, figure base and Ocean Buddies!

>But that’s not all ...
Available for a limited time, this deluxe Man-At-Arms™ Timed Edition includes exclusive extras like an additional portrait, mace and environmental base!

He does look great, and since I really don't need the snake head, gray mace, or base, I'd be more than happy with a regular version. But if he's Mondo shop only... I'll maybe do it for him and Teela, but that just means the rest of the line will be Mondo shop only too, since if even MAA who's basically the second most important character from the show is an exclusive, then no one else will get a regular release. After shipping and taxes Clawful cost me a shit ton, and I can't imagine I feel like I'll be getting my money's worth (I'd love to be surprised, but there are just so many good products out there that cost a lot less than he did), and I can't really justify that for a whole line.
>>
Nice new shot showing the scale of the line so far.
>>
>>11688284
Ohh gotcha, I wasn't aware of the clawful text, then it's probably safe to assume it's the same treatment? but I do wonder, MAA is more iconic, maybe he'll get both versions, guess we'll know tomorrow.

Hopes for Tomorrow?

I'm curious if Playmobil x Mattel will announce a MotU series because they showed some summer Knights sets at London Toy Fair and there was a lion with leather, bigger mold too.

>>11688313

And since they did not reveal Playmobil Hi! last week makes me wonder how much other stuff Playmo didn't show.
>>
>>11688252
I need them to start actually releasing some.of these. I mean for fucks sake they are about to ask me to buy a third figure for over a hundred dollars and I don't even have the first one in hand.
>>
Will MC Jan 28th drop be for the movie?
>>
>>11688336
I was just thinking this, already 4 figures you can buy but none you can own, I feel they should have at least let He-man and Calwful come out before going all in.

Not wrong. June 2026 is still quite a way's away too. Probably no earlier than July when we get these in-hand (maybe early samples for reviewers in May or something). It's a lot of money to put down for products this expensive that may not end up as good as we might be hoping them to be.

This better be us on June 5 bros

Only other thing might be the sword, but the castle is shaped perfectly, so it makes the most sense for sure. Could you imagine it has the clamshell opening with some detail on the inside too? Too bad these aren't available where I am.

Someone in the Toy Geeks podcast suggested a Fisto Bucket which you could wear after using, probably not happening but is kinda genius lol.
>>
>>11687024
Ramen Toy generally makes good stuff and they could probably be getting actual license deals from other companies if they weren't constantly kicking the hornet's nest with their IPs. They have a Knight Rider KITT car in development that they supposedly want to get permission from the studio to officially license, but I'm not sure how well it's going to work out for them given their history of "if we don't get the license we'll just sell it anyway under a cheeky alternate name."
