I have read the Yu-Gi-Oh manga back in the day (when it was about all sorts of games) and have seen a handful of episodes of the anime, so I‘m not familiar enough to create an entry, otherwise I would‘ve done so

>Maximillion Pegasus
>Seto Kaiba
>Dark Magician Girl

After watching the new Super Mario Galaxy movie Super Bowl TV spot… I’ll never understand LEGO sitting out this one and the first movie. I can maybe get skipping the first film since everyone thought it would bomb but after it made 1 billion dollars you’d think LEGO would make sets for the sequel. Minifigure sets too. Yet nothing.
And the movie is toyetic as fuck.
Maybe the Super Mario theme just isn’t selling that well…

Today, in the local library I saw Bootlego electronics/education sets. Those things are usually based on original lego sets, so I'm trying to find it. It's hard to describe it, because it wasn't like any other WeDo or Mindstorms hub. The motors were connected through electric "dots" at the top of the hub. The motors connected through "cross" dots. Sound bricks - 2 dots. The hub had several LEDs on the side.
Does anyone know what it might've been?

Why do now so many themes have buildable things or characters instead of playsets with minifigs?
>>
File: Emmett.jpg (9.2 KB)

>>11703297
Because AFOLs see them as "buildable display pieces" or "models" meant to be built once then put on a shelf or table as room decor, rather than a toy or playset.
LEGO has become literally what their own movie told them what you shouldn't do with LEGOs.

>what went so wrong?
While adult LEGO collectors have always been a thing, like many other (mostly) toy and collectable manufacturers, they saw an explosion of buying in 2020. So they leaned into making a lot more adult oriented sets, and like so many of those other companies, they realized they could charge whatever they wanted and blame it on the laundry list of world events that have been happening in the last 5-6 years, and people would just accept it and pay anyway.
They know nostalgia bait sells well, and they could just get all the video game, movie, comic, whatever properties that were 20, 30, 40 years old, and the people who grew up with them had expendable income, so they would just buy those things regardless of the price.
Star Wars didn't help, because that is the testing ground for new features, new prices, and other new ways to cut corners and raise prices.
Also, when a person buys like a $20, or $30, or even $50 set, they don't really have any issues tearing them apart, throwing the parts in a box, and then just building something else out of them. But when people spend $500, or $800, or $1000 on a set, most people aren't going to build it and tear it apart in a month and build something new out of it. Its a statement piece to show off to other people, and people who view LEGO that way are who the high-end sets are aimed at.

This could be updated, since it's referring to 'sets coming out' in 2014, 2015. Surely, there's other stuff that's outdated?
Didn't see anything about where to find instructions for retired sets on line? I don't mean buy them from someone off Brick Link, I mean just find them on-line to use? Like a manual for a VCR or washing machine?

>While adult LEGO collectors have always been a thing, like many other (mostly) toy and collectable manufacturers, they saw an explosion of buying in 2020
The adults that liked LEGO prior to COVID, or really even just the post-2015 current of mainstream-ification of the hobby, were universally almost all AFOLs in the traditional sense of the word. The problem with modern LEGO is that it is entirely catering to normies who otherwise likely wouldn't have any interest in the hobby, if not for the sheer breadth of massive sets that they've been releasing at a rapid pace for the last couple of years. I literally feel like the target demographic of nu-LEGO are the exact kind of people who would have made fun of the nerds who collected sets in their teenage years 20-30 years ago.

I'm pretty sure I would eventually have learned about Brick Link itself just by coming to the thread and skimming it but I'm sure newbies learn about it faster when it's in the OP.
Also, any gen I skim or look at that just has:
>previous: >>
even with the:
archive.palanq.win/toy/search link
which a bunch currently don't bother with, comes across as just lazy, fast and easy, sloppy GENERALS.
I don't have time enough or knowledge enough of LEGO to do it myself, but I've done that kind of clean up when I modded or just helped out in groups, there are always people like me willing to do it. I'm not offering, because again, this is all new to me so I have few clues and I'm too fucking old to spend time learning about shit I'm not all that interested in.

Is this the true fact of the matter underlying all the moaning about nulego? There are more sets than ever targeting a broader range of consumers, but this is bad because some of those consumers remind you of your high school bullies?

>LEGO has become literally what their own movie told them what you shouldn't do with LEGOs.
The Lego Movie is seriously one of the best things ever made. (that is indeed a pun, since you "make" things with Lego.) levels upon levels of morals, absolute masterpiece.
the 2nd movie was just a cash-in. they tried to make the story worthy of the first one, and I want to say it was a decent attempt (it could have been a lot worse) but it was an impossible task, since the first one was so epic-ly good.
I don't know, specifically, what the new story could be, but I feel it's time for a 3rd movie. that movie would never get made, simply because the LEGO COMPANY themselves have become the villain from the first movie. and the whole world is the little child begging for salvation. (maybe Will Farrell could be the Hero of that movie? he'd yell at the Lego exec "I used to BE you!")
