HasLab Kinokaiser has started shipping! Have you received yours yet?
Also, Thunderwing is next year's Commander class figure! Are you glad Nexus Prime got cucked once again?

This is a long shot. Does anybody know in which of Thew's Transformers review he says something is "a bit Naked Lunch, isn't it?"? I recently watched that movie and want to finally get the reference. I think it was one of the older reviews.

Since he isn't a nu-titan hopefully he's at least got the mass of jetfire, though since he'll probably be the most fuckered up amalgamation of shit nobody wants he'll be Optimus/Megatron sized in his shell and his brute mode will be large leader sized.

It's mostly 80's hokey marvel writing with the occasional memorable Furman dialog. The overarching story is average, and there are a lot of strange liberties taken where lore and characterizations change issue to issue.
Lots of uncreative ultra violence and character death, and the attempt to shoehorn every toy possible into somewhere results in a monstrous number of extremely under developed characters.
As inconsistent as early idw is, Stormbringer Thunderwing is the definitive version to me. Stormbringer itself is also a pretty solid transformers comic on its own and works great as a standalone story.

Techno Organics that posses other figures ala The Thing. With touches of space barnacles and Quintesson designs.
Also id love to see the Robosmasher, Vok, a stand alone Transmutate figure, and The Dweller in this horror line.
>>
>>
>>
>>11792988
Stormbringer Thunderwing is a cool design, but he's more of a mindless monster than an actual character in most of that story. In the old Marvel comics, there was at least something interesting in the idea that he was a Decepticon with a strong enough affinity for the matrix that he could properly wield its power for doing more than just creating new robots. Because there's actual characterization there, for that reason alone I personally consider Marvel Thunderwing to be the definitive version of the character.
But like I said, Strormbringer Thunderwing had a great design, so I'd be in favor of seeing elements of that incorporated into his new commander class toy, kinda like they did with his old deluxe figure from 15 years ago. The biggest question will be whether they'll make full use of the larger size class to include his inner robot, or if they'll give him the ability to power up into his final form from Stormbringer. Either (or both) sounds fun to me.

>was hoping they change the skirts on liokaiser from the one piece to two piece
>Still the same after all these years
You know what. I think I finally find it within myself to be ok with this.
The waist movement is not connected to the abdomen-pevlic but the lower crotch.
Because of the center piece, they can't really cut the skirt without the center piece looking weird in different positions. And they can't really remove the center part by having it be part of the moving waist or it would hit the skirts on the side and lock the waist in.
As to why they have to put the articulation point in lower crotch? It is probably because if they did not do that, Garuga wouldn't able to form the abdomen
Still. Could be better but I am starting to warm up to it.

Friendly bit of advice that I only recently put into practice myself though: collating images is a nice way to incorporate multiple shots while conserving the thread image count. Looks how Lio should to me, it could be worse. What the fuck were they smoking when they designed these proportions.
>>

I’ve never understood the audience for the God Fire Convoy Haslab. It’s not to scale with the original figure, so you can’t use it as a replacement, it’s not to scale with Generations, so you can’t fit it in with the rest of your collection, and it’s not to scale with Masterpiece, so you can’t display it with the other high end toys. Where is this guy supposed to go?
>>
>>11792861
I for one think Kingdom Rodimus is kind of crap, but I'm not confident the new one will be better so much as just different. Hasbro is hard to predict, though. It could end up worse. I never would have imagined that the new Laser Optimus would be so awful, for example.
>>
>>
>>11793134
Nah he's a big figure and one of the rare cases of an upscale in these modern times where bots get smaller and more expensive for what you get. While God Fire Convoy is expensive as fuck at least he is fuckheug and I at least appreciate him for that in spite of the problems the toy suffers. I just wish the other Convoy's similarly don't get downscaled too much. I can already see them trying to downscale Grand Convoy to fit in the Commander budget even though in Super Mode he should be as big as Ultra Magnus and that worries me.

I like God Fire Convoy, I pussed out on the encore due to QC, and I don't care about scale as long as things are close enough in my mental mapping. God Magnus and the combination not being a brick is a decent bonus.

New Legends new chapter has:
>Noisemaze and Doubleface teaming up as Team Sideways
>Nemesis Star Convoy tearing Cybertron in half in visual homage to IDW's Unicron story
>Nexus Prime using Silverbolt's frame in jet mode
>G1 Unicron's spark revived by Micron Legend/Superlink's Unicron's power fighting Nemesis Star Convoy created through G1 Optimus Prime's corpse and Micron/Superlink Unicron's spark guided by Team Shockwave (Unicron's mind)

>you do remember that they stopped doing micromasters right?
That doesn't mean every single micromaster has disappeared from people's collections. Star Convoy still being compatible with older gimmicks like micromasters and titanmasters is good, same as keeping the ramp connections. All baseformers should be like that.

>no frame=weak knees
Some reviews for liokaiser have come out.
While people are praising the thing, it is very clear the knees are compromised because the articulation point is with the bots so the rachets are not abel to be big enough (strong enough) to handle either the weight of the calf nor the upper body.
Devastator does not have this issue with the knee point being part of the extra crotch section. It also help devastator has those really thick thighs where as liokaiser is more vintage japanese robot design of thinner thighs/thick calfs.
Having a frame system solve the issue

>>
>>11793444
You forget (or "forget") that Devastator functionally has a seventh member in Long Haul's trailer (which you probably also complained about). You need either a frame or extra pieces to make a combiner that's sturdy and posable, 5 or 6 bots held together with just CW-style ports and hope isn't going to cut it.

The sole cause of Laser Prime's problems would be the designer. It still baffles me how they took a very simple, iconic design and fucked it up to such an insane degree. Star Convoy having his classic base mode and being compatible with other baseformers and small figures is a good thing. Not everything needs to cater to people who started collecting yesterday and don't even know who the fuck Star Convoy is. Also the toy is still fun even without titanmasters or micromasters, but if you own some of these it's better. I don't see the problem.
>>
>>11793736
Exactly. The main problem of that toy is that they tried to reinvent the wheel for absolutely no reason. Just keeping the same simple transformation of the original but with added articulation would have been enough.

>>11793737
I'm not talking about what or who should and shouldn't be catered to, I'm just going by the logic that most toylines usually operate by. Rodimus comes with Star Convoy so that is fine and it's still a good figure but like I said, It gives the toyline a sense of unified synergy. Something all the toylines had until Legacy.
For example with Titans Return.
You have the smallest class, Titan Masters, they can be integrated into the play features of every subsequent class in the toyline. Individual titan masters came with a little figure that can turn into a drone or weapon for bigger figures. Legends could have them as drivers in the canopy, Deluxes, Voyagers and Leaders could use them as pilots and as heads or seated in their guns. Titans usually had nearly all of the above with lots of play features for those smaller classes. It creates a sort of synergy, buying the cheapest figure makes you want to buy the more expensive larger figure and so forth and so on and it felt rewarding. They've worked this way since at least the Unicron Trilogy. As it is now, more and more it just feels like they've fully embraced Generations as filler for some fat retard's shelf as a form of admission to their own lack of creativity. It's nice that Star Convoy's base mode is compatible with the old micromasters but why couldn't they just release new ones in the current line if they're going to do that.

>>
>>11793763
Yeah, that's why hasbro's been reporting losses on Transformers for the last 5-10 years. This shit may have worked in 2007 but it doesn't work with kids that didn't go to the theaters and don't have an incentive to care about transformers
>>
>>11793665

Due to the dub doing it's own thing, they make it sound like Unicron and Sideways are one and the same (the sub made it seem like it was partially true, he was his own guy and Unicron was possesing him). Only on Cybertron and a toy bio did it imply otherwise (but the shows nature makes it hard to say they're the same character anyway.
So yeah, his vary nature made it hard to say if he was ever an individual, but the new Legends fiction has him working separately from Unicron and even wishing to control him, establishing him as his own guy.

Sentai's decline predates PR being sold to Bandai. The reason it got cancelled were because toy sales were shit due to the toys also being shit and also being too expensive for the average Japanese household.
Here's one article in Japanese explaining the problem in regards to the price of the toys:
https://web.archive.org/web/20260227162626/https://news.yahoo.co.jp/ar ticles/85720dd627c44d4ab71ee88c995a 16afb01028ae
>>Bandai conducts an annual survey regarding Christmas gifts for children (titled the "Christmas Survey"). According to their findings, the average budget for 2025 is 8,378 yen. While this represents a 240-yen increase over the previous year, it falls far short of the 16,720 yen price tag for the "DX Boonboomgerー Robo: Explosive 4 Big Robot Set" This creates a price disparity of nearly two-to-one.
Why pay for an overly expensive Super Sentai brick when there's so much more competition like Shinkalion and Jobraver domestically in Japan with regards to giant robot toys?
And note that hosing down the customers for all their money strategy is being repeated here stateside by Hasbro with TFs.

All your logical reasoning consists of is repeatedly saying, "This thing (which is NOT responsible for every problem) is magically responsible for every problem!" I have assembled Liokaiser.
The chest armors for the arms and upper torso sort of just get slapped on the back in combined mode, clearly an afterthought. The arms aren't noticeable from the front. But the Lion Chest Armor? He sort of takes center position on the top of the back. So he's sort of peaking over the looming menace of Liokaiser. Or fuck it, pack him with Splendid Convoy. I'd buy her.
>>
>>
>>11794064
If I recall correctly, in the actual show his robot mode is the size of Fire Convoy/Optimus Prime's super robot mode, whilst the OG toy is the same size as Fire Convoy's standard robot mode. Anime Gigatron is fuckin' hueg. Though then again
>Transformers
>Scale
>>
>>11794069
The combining three? Yeah that'd be a lot.
Maybe a Haslab of both sets of three piece combiners, with alt parts for Jr? If Liokaiser is seven bots, six doesn't seem that insane.
Never mind alt parts for Jr. He could be a stretch goal.
>>
>>
>>11794070
You're right that scale is fucked to shit with this franchise, but you're right to point out the anime. They're in general going with anime scale, and if they want that, a Haslab would be a good place for him.

I haven't handled their new Diaclone stuff but a lot of it just looks like expensive clusterfuckery to me. It doesn't have the same appeal the old Diaclone or Micro Change stuff does to me whatsoever. I'm willing to believe that part for part it's higher quality than what they've done with Transformers for the last decade, but I don't care about it.
>>
>>11794082
The Diaclone reboot toys are expensive as fuck and they're aimed at adults more than trying to attract new fans. Part of it is higher quality, part is their market estimates saying it pays better to sell fewer toys to fans at a massively inflated margin than trying to compete on price.
The new line is focused more on the modular aspects than transformation and that's a step away from the original Diaclone idea.

Finally picked up this guy since they fucking refuse to make Cryotek. An old credit card and some tinfoil really brightens up that chest jewel and the mouth bothers me less in person, in most lighting I can't even tell it's supposed to be messed up. The downward slant on the port in the dragon mouth is really annoying though. Also did anyone ever figure out why the fuck the dragon chest can't tab into the slot on his back?
>>

Starting price $6,999 USD

you put it in your arcade, and you charge a quarter a play. Then you keep the quarters at the end, unless it's the kind where you can win free games, but even then very few let you -profit- from your free games. That's how pinball began, to dodge gambling laws, but that aint how it currently am.
>>
>>11794166
>Also did anyone ever figure out why the fuck the dragon chest can't tab into the slot on his back?
No and that's what pisses me off about him most honestly. I do like what you did with the chest jewel though, very vibrant.
>>
>>
>>11794176
>Why the fuck did they spend money making this instead of good Transformers?
Don't be dense, pumpkin. They just licensed out the Transformers brand to a pinball machine manufacturer. They didn't spend any money on this.
>>
>>
File: sfl77c.jpg (278.0 KB)
>>11794167
Not even glue, I just cut the card down to a little square that can nestle into the chest then wrapped the foil around it to keep it stiff to avoid crinkling. I got the size just right so it stay in place on its own but It'd be kept in place in both modes by the bot and dragon arms anyways.
>>
>>
>>11794166

It's the middle support strut at the base of the chest plate. It bumps into the back of the gold panel of the head assembly. It was probably a last minute reinforcement.

>>11793775
Hasjew will just keep pushing out bad products because idiots keep buying them even though there of poor quality.
We now have hollow legs/crotches/arms and chests on pretty much all figures. We get recycled cardboard boxes with no plastic windows or holders anymore.
Their made in a cheap factory with low quality paints and cheap plastic.
Please pay 100 bucks for ss grimlock which you'll then need to spend another 80 on for a kit to actually make the figure look right.
Wtf is the point? You could just spend 60-80 on the oversized ko mp grimlock and have a proper version of the character
You literally have to fix every character hasbro puts out with a kit

>>
>>
>>11794322
reckon anon is saying this piece from a 300 dollar toy should not be so waffled
and I mean, obviously it should be, it's silly to make SOLID plastic toys, as super7 figured out. Unnecessarily heavy. What you're supposed to do is make things waffled but ALSO sandwich two pieces together, for each piece. It's not that bad, it uses up a tiny bit more plastic and massively improves how it looks, plus it allows for a great number of types of joints to be used
>>
>>
>>
>>11794289
>No but it's the one they chose. Not like you've put up any alternatives.
So there you go! It isn't just because the legs suck, but it's also because they made other bad choices that they didn't have to!
But you want some other alternatives? Fine, here we go. First up, change where the arms are stored in truck mode. Instead of having them come out the back of the cab, the two most obvious options are either on the sides of the cab, or inside the nose of the truck. The sides would make the vehicle mode considerably wider (not necessarily a bad thing considering how long the truck already feels), but would still have the downside of the shoulders still needing to connect to the torso's sides. Ideally, the shoulders should connect to the underside of the truck nose pylons in robot mode, giving Optimus broader shoulders for a more heroic silhouette. Storing the arms inside the nose could accomplish this. You'd need to sacrifice the gimmick of having the front of his pylons swing open to reveal missiles, but that's a small price to pay. With those missiles gone, the interior of the truck's entire nose becomes available real estate for his arms. With the arms stored inside there, the shoulders can now connect at the base of the pylons. Then if you change the hinges on the truck nose so they don't only swing out to the sides, but also forward and backward, you'd have a full range of motion too. Since a ball-and-socket joint probably wouldn't be strong enough to support the weight of the arms with friction alone (and because they might be too finicky during the transformation), this would require extra parts for two separate hinges, but ditching the missiles earlier could already free up the parts count.
So there's an alternative off the top of my head showing that bad legs didn't make the bad shoulders inevitable.
>>
>>
>>11794237
I'm the opposite. The Duocons convinced me that they can't do Multiforce in the mainline. Battletrap was meh. Flywheels was better but his individual vehicles didn't transform. To do Multiforce in the mainline, you'd need to do 6 deluxes or voyagers (since legends and core class are dead), each of those deluxes or voyagers would need to transform into individual robot and vehicle modes, combine with the other members either as a top half or bottom half and also be able to combine together into a poseable combiner. So essentially each member will need to have at least 5 modes. I just can't see Hasbro doing that with current mainline budgets without a shit ton of cutting corners.
>>
>>
>>11794358
Oh, my mistake. The gameplay footage shows they got the Honest Trailers guy for some stuff. Between that, the new lines sounding so obviously aged, and the random woman's voice for some generic pinball score quotes, the VA work is a bit of a miss for me.
>whole mode dedicated to beating up Starscream
Worth it
>the "we have Stan Bush at home" song that plays during the Optimus/Megatron battle on the dam
Press release seems to say it's Knights of Unicron, who is also putting out that cover album of the movie's soundtrack soon.

I wonder if he was meant to have a transformation gimmick but they couldn't make it viable. That he looks like this and the actual table's role for him is just "shoot him in the shins" is kind of weird.
>>
>>11794383
I'm hearing word that he was meant to transform but they couldn't get the mechanism to work consistently
For the best I guess, wouldn't want to centerpiece of you $8000 purchase to be stuck between modes because it took too many ball bearings to the dome
>>
>>11794386
On a similar note, I'm almost surprised they kept it Season 1 and 2 focused and shoved the movie stuff to a bonus mode. I get it, the nostalgic iconography but at the same time the movie is increasingly like The Big One Thing people even know about G1 due to its accessibility.

Would that even be within Vector Prime's power to do? Going by the comics (yes, I'm ignoring Primacon), Unicron predates the known universe - he actually ATE the previous one, and the current universe (and all of its iterations across the multiverse) spun off from the exploding remains of that precursor universe.
Vector Prime can mess with time in the current universe/multiverse, but Unicron's birth predates the concept of time as we know it, and his origin point is outside of the universe - presumably out of VP's reach. Even if Vector Prime COULD turn back time even in the predecessor universe and COULD reach and kill Unicron in his earlier stage of development, it would cause a paradox - killing Unicron then means he doesn't eat that universe, which means the current universe and all instances of it is never born, which means Primus never exists, which means Vector Prime never exists, which means no one goes back in time to kill Unicron...see where this is going?
>>
>>
>>
>>11794868
I’ve always assumed that Vector Prime is somewhat immune to the changes in the timeline surrounding him, similar to Guinan in TNG. So he’d be aware of the changes, but wouldn’t be personally affected by them for the most part. However, his vast knowledge tells him to not kill Unicron early because of all the good things that result indirectly from Unicron existing

>>

>>11794939
He did have issues, it's just that they weren't all as catastrophic as Victory Saber or Omega Prime:
-Tiger Breast having the horns chromed was a poor choice, since you're forced to touch them frequently and they fall off too easily, unless you fix them in place with something.
-The beast mode back having that gap they really tried to hide in promo shots.
-Weapons all used unique connections that only worked with DS, so weapon swapping is difficult.
-I seem to remember the wings not using any ratchets and they're pretty big, so I can see this being an issue in the future.
-I'd have to check this later, but I also remember the arms also lacking ratchets in some areas.
I'll have to mess around with it these days to remember any other issues.
>>
>>11794929
VS had way more problems:
-Blade was made of clear plastic, but the real problem was the connection point being a thin "l" shaped. It's pretty tight on some copies and some people did break them. Why they didn't just make the blade out of sturdier plastic and use a simple hatch mechanism to fix it in place, is unknown.
-The Star Saber's knees destroying themselves and becoming friction joints
-Saber having the knee flap be too tight, causing them to stress out after transforming them.
And many more.

Studio series and AOTP/AOE basically have to juggle the amount of titans and commanders they get between both lines. This year AOTP had two commanders because they took studio series' commander slot, and this was due to 86 taking AOTP's titan slot. Next year, studio series get a commander AND titan, while AOE gets a singular commander.

It's the horns. Yeah it's kind of eh. They definitely could have come up with a way of attaching the prime body that isn't fucking retarded and the leg articulation is brick-tier. If they didn't bother trying to have the prime legs stay attached to the trailer legs (which doesn't even work well) and just let them hang off the back (which I think most people are just going to do anyway) they could have had much better leg articulation on him.

I'm hoping they eventually do a new G2 Ramjet out of the SS86 mold, but there's never any guarantee (after all, there are plenty of seekers they never made out of the Earthrise mold), so it might be worth it to get him just in case.

Which story idea do you prefer for a Transformers story?
>Optimus Prime and Megatron are the Autobot and Decepticon leaders and all conflict is between them unless a third party shows up (G1 cartoon, UT trilogy, Bayverse, Prime, Cyberverse)
>Optimus Prime and Megatron disappeared for millions of years, many other Decepticon warlords and Autobot commanders rose up (Marvel G1, Japanese G1)
>>
>>11796254
I much prefer the straightforward established setting of option one. I'm very okay with twists on the known tropes (i.e. Rodimus Prime, Autobot Skycracker, what have you) but I think the mirror of Optimus/Megatron and their parties are just too strong. It's really hard to lose Starscream, Soundwave AND Shockwave in one go, too.
>>
>>11796286
Honestly, I feel we're due for major changes to the formula. Just pull a Beast Wars and disguise the faction leaders by giving them similar names. I remember coming up with a more episodic, Brave like take that would easily slot in both new and old characters, but would mostly focus on a newer cast, with both the Optimus and Megatron being big departures from the typical versions.

remember when we all thought someday futuristic tech would let us voice command our blinds to open or close, or program the window to open when it gets cool at night but close and turn the AC on before it gets hot, etc... then it turns out all the 'smart' house devices are just backdoors to your wifi. then all the remaining PC software became spyware. Then every industry became just a scam.

This is for some of the few arcades that still have Pinball areas, and those that do tend to lean more to premium machines. Since it's probably going to be in dense cities where you get a lot of tourists and people coming and going willing to spend at least $5 on a machine.
I did a little math and lets say if you expect your average patron to pay $5, and you get about 7 players a day who only spend the bare minimum, within a year you could pay off the 12,000 for the VIP version. Possible repairs and maintenance would likely be covered for the first few years too. So after the first year, maybe two/three, you now have an income stream from the machine(with other machines having already been paid for and paying that off). The prices are high, but arcade/retail equipment often will be because it's sold with the expectation to net you money.
While an individual can own them, it's rare and mostly for really big enthusiasts, and there tends to be a trading/reselling aspect since most people only have room in their homes for two or three machines at the most.

Ima tell you what I tell people who insinuate about this ugly girl I'm friends with
a guy would do a much better job hiding it if he was actually a guy. This is sloppy work.
>>11797274
It's a reference to abiogenesis. the idea that random chemicals can combine to make organic compounds. The irony of this is, if they accept this, they have to accept the possibility of infinite petroleum reserves, because that's what they've supposedly found inside meteors. Free oil, no need for a biosphere to make algae to turn into it.
>>11797275
yes but again, it's not that random cricket hip lying on the ground on its own. That is the joke. That gears and pulleys -themselves- are the ancestors. Not that their ancestors were inorganic material that spontaneously formed gears inside them.
>>
>>11797277
I'm not saying there aren't flaws. Ingrown toenails and menopause come to mind. But I think that's because we're degenerating over time. Everything in nature seems to be just rotting, like a satellite in a decaying orbit.
I don't think we'd have made it this far if our ancient ancestors had fucking.. sleep apnea, for example. So I think our throat tubes used to be significantly more robust. But you do bring up a valid point.

>That gears and pulleys -themselves- are the ancestors
Nature's never done wheels, has it? There's some wheeled aliens in scifi but I can't think of any real world examples.
>>
>>11797286
IIRC there's exactly one pond-dwelling microorganism that has a wheel at the end of its tail that functions as a sort of propeller.
but again... the suggestion is that the gear itself formed, just out in the open. Like a rock randomly had the right teeth to act as a gear, and a piece of asbestos strand formed a pulley over a round rock, and this, over time, produced robots. it's supposed to be funny.
>>
>>11797286
jumping bugs of all kinds do have neat little catches and springs in their legs. Sometimes it's as simple as what they use in transformers with firing missiles. You pull the leg back til it fits into a little notch, then another muscle depresses the 'switch' and it sproings off. Of course what's really impressive is how their nervous systems are able to do this on the fly when needed, without requesting confirmation from the brain first. Bugs really are little robots, and they're impressive.

do you even know that a prefix is not a valid adjective?
what if I said you were 'pre' or 'anti' or something? you'd have no fucking idea what I'm talking about
the reason these people lopped the 'sexual' off of their thing is so they could pretend it was suitable for children.
There can be zero tolerance. ZERO. of any 2020s language. Anything you wouldn't have said in 2007, don't say it now. Period. This rule can be rescinded when shit is sane again.
>>
>>11797421
>what if I said you were 'pre' or 'anti' or something? you'd have no fucking idea what I'm talking about
Actually with conversational context, I would. Because I'm not stupid. I see "pre" and "anti" used as their own words all the fucking time.
>the reason these people lopped the 'sexual' off of their thing
No one was loping off "sexual" from words, anon. Did you think we were saying "cissexual"?
>There can be zero tolerance. ZERO. of any 2020s language.
"Cisgender" specifically was coined in 1994. You could buy the G2 Aerialbots, G2 Combaticons, Rotor Force, Laser Rods, Hero Prime/Megatron, and Dreadwing/Smokescreen off store shelves during that time. The use of cis as opposite to trans in the context of sex and gender in general goes back all the way to fucking 1914, the year World War I started..
>>
>>11797426
Instead of replying, Ima just tell you to read my post again instead. Maybe eventually you'll realize that it's kind of irrelevant if some John Money type 'coined a term' back in the sane era, when obviously I was talking about when it became ubiquitous.
and that goes for all your 'ooms' and your 'this-ers' or 'anti-that-ers' and obsessive generational labels and pronoun shit and 'glizzies' and all the other brainrotted verbage.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11797434
While you're doing all this meaningless research to back up your claims while missing the point, maybe look up the meaning of 'shibboleth.'
we don't need a term for 'a real actual man/woman', and we SURE as hell would not use the term commonly used and pushed by those who think there are alternatives to those two.
and until you understand that, you aren't welcome on this planet.
