You certainly could have find a higher res screenshot than that.

It was meant to be a Joan of Arc edition and the QotD was meant to be "favorite Joan in cinema?" or something along the lines of that. Perhaps even including the rare 'thread theme' with a link to the Leonard Cohen song. Gosh, you really can't get anything right.

Imagine, if you will, Louise Brooks cast as Joan.
>>
Imagine, if you will, a Perceval-esque Eric Rohmer film about Joan.

>Theatrical mise-en-scène
Already accomplished by Dreyer
>Maidens in different states of nakedness
This just doesn't fit in this type of hagiographical film ... or does it?

Anyhow, Perceval le Gallois is kino of high caliber.

>>217667677
I was thinking in terms of it being a historical epic like the Rivette film* with Sandrine Bonnaire. Not about the trial (which is what lends itself to theatrical framing).

* Which I haven't actually seen
>>
>>217667728
Downloaded this one 4 years ago and haven't seen it yet.
>>
>>217667761
It's like 5 hours long lol. That's the main reason why I haven't seen it. The classic Rivette maneuver.

That film was controversial because Sandrine Bonnaire was too old for the part.

It is I, Dingo. Also known as Dingo Dingleberry or just as a D. Or Big D. I fucked the fat girl again and I am gonna fry some burgers as I torrent some underrated classics. Too bad there's one whose only seeder is one Sartre. I am a hotblooded American and I will never download anything from that pinko son-of-a-gun. USA USA USA. Checking out. That's funny. Apparently, she was 26. On the other hand, Ingrid Bergman was 33 when she won an Oscar for playing the part of a 19 year old.

The Serpent's Egg and Shame are his best aside from The Seventh Seal.
>>
>>217668502
>spiritual antecessor of the new wave yarn.
Well, Godard literally called Monika the 'beginning of "modern cinema"', whatever that means. It was a big inspo for Truffaut as well. Maybe it's not his 'deepest' or most nuanced film, but I find everything about it just so instantly lovable.

Virgin Spring is a great pull as well. Love the scene with the tree !

is Gallo known for anything other than Buffalo 66 and The Brown Bunny?
>>
>>217672159
He hasn't made anything else. He has a couple of like 5 minute throwaway shorts and he directed a movie in 2010 that has never been released. He acted in a few things. Nothing notable. His best acting role is probably Ferrara's The Funeral. He's an extra in Goodfellas.
>>
>>217672159
Yes, that Kusturica desert movie with John Depp, The Funeral, Essential Killing, Doc's Kingdom, the five seconds he's in Goodfellas, being in a band with Basquiat in the early 80s, having gay sex with old guys in NYC, destroying Ice T at break dancing, fucking 16 year old Paris Hilton, giving Roger Ebert cancer, the list goes on.

Got filtered by La Chinoise. Was not expecting the whole film to be nonstop dialogue about the state of Marxism in the 1960s. Need a second watch to process. Would have been completely lost if I wasn't reasonably well read on Marx and the Sino-Soviet split.

The Poacher

Pic related moves like she's taking credit for the actions of her legs. Head and rest too late and correcting.
Thick exoskeleton adornment without label or drawing attention features look like a swuare split dress. Squave and square. Her torso blending in in a hour glass shape much smaller at the top. Less time, but it stopped.
Flowing down a staircase she turns like taking control at an appropriate time, turning as she dows down sideways, boarding on her own feet. Taking credit. Anything for something unexpected. She rolls and lays face against the ground soft. Success.
Someone passes with congradulations. Helps her up with an arm too assisted, no, synthetic. Close enough and the same. But severed. What was it before, did it feel less. it has texture, pattern, tattoo, maybe the same. A sailor, an anchor.
"I don't want to (fuck)"
"That's fair."
They're there, a boat after he buys legs to suit. He bigger as is appropriate. His boat small on deck, thick in innards. All underwater. The tattoo is a temporary, his photoalbum a set of stickers that will stay on untill a shower. Puts on another, skull and crossbones, the cross a christ reference, shaped and square, on his shoulder wearing his heart as a sleve. Self sacrifice doing somthing stupid keeping the faith.
The bought is cheap and malfunctions. The mechanic will fix it, the mechanic is a machine and builds better, a male version of the legs he's picked up. Gives her some mech clothes too. Air conditioning, water without drinking, food. Legs a little thicker for storage. A destination is somewhere else. They don't have to go far. Sea and VR. She makes talking memories. She wan'ts she's had. Fast and fair. Enough and too much. A regulation is shot and recruited, it's wreck mended. Part of a fleet that's spread.

Lang actually did make a couple in the 60s-his last film was The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse in 1960. Not his best, but still dripping with that noir paranoia and post-war German dread. Kinda poetic that he closed his career revisiting Mabuse, tying the whole thing together.

You'll never get the full Dark Crystal experience if you didn't stumble on it as kid flipping channels and get traumatized by the emperor crumbling into dust

Heavy Traffic reminds me of an animated version of Buffalo '66 mixed with Voyage au bout de la nuit. A lot of people here would be into it, if they got past their anti-animation bias.

How do you feel about Pather Panchali? It reminded me of the meme where the boyfriend says to his girlfriend "honey let's watch an old black-and-white film about horrible things happening to poor people" and the girlfriend says "yes dear" and she's the desolate and dying wojak.
Which is to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Love and Duty. A chinese silent film from 1931. Who volunteers to watch it and report back?
>>
>>217687034
>Long considered lost, it was accidentally rediscovered in Uruguay in the 1990s, and was almost immediately hailed as one of the greatest Chinese silent films. Like many such films, it has both Chinese and English intertitles.
Looks good, might watch it next week.

>Melodrama. Slow and dreadful. If you ever wanted to see Cary Grant wailing then here you are. Dunne is pretty mediocre. One nice scene shot from within a baby's crib. In no reality is there enough story here for 120 minutes.

You've Got Everything Now (the Hatful of Hollow version to be exact) is so fucking good

I think Vulgarpetic's worst take besides the RZ/PWSA worship is that he said he doesn't like Renée Falconetti's performance. Fucking unexplainable

I'm a casual climber so I liked seeing the pros plan this out and contemplate death and shit. The only thing I detest is when a documentary tries to draw imaginary lines between the guy's childhood and his present personality.
