There's a timeline where he gets away from that proto-SJW red-haired girl and doesn't go on to apologise for his earlier gay jokes, and instead gets with that black chick who was actually into him (and not hideous) - or anyone else who wouldn't control him. And where the MST3K gig nullifies his self-esteem issues as well as re-energising him/giving him focus. Of course, we don't live in that timeline.

A super fast scrolling text could be funny, a la Red Dwarf
Personally I think they should just sidestep it in a comedy way, like:
>Mike doesn't know how he got there and is confused and annoyed
>Crow denies they ever left, accuses Mike of having Space Dementia
>Pearl won't explain beyond saying "Hey, I'm evil, whaddaya want?"
>Tom is initially bothered by it, but realises his underpants collection is back, so isn't willing to question it in case they get burned up in another crash
And the obvious answer to how they're back is Brain Guy, so he'd just think anyone who asks him is stupid and not worth answering.

Joel is like a Matt Groening or a George Lucas, where sure, he was the guy with the initial idea, and it was a damn good initial idea, but it was the collaborative effort of the people around him who made MST3K the thing that people loved.
The show didn’t really come into itself until Mike was firmly in the head writer chair, and making the “funny/not funny” calls.

The funniest bit in the promo was Mike asserting with frustration that he's "middle aged"
That said Rifftrax has been running for twenty fucking years post-MST (!) and it never had an era where people just go "Man, this sucks."
In fact the worst riffs were the ones from the very first year (another MST tradition!) when it was just Mike talking to himself alone. I'm glad that beta test drug in enough paypig bucks to rehire Bill and Kevin but even he seems to know how depressing it was; not only did he immediately stop doing it, in the years that followed the trio redid many of the movies he did solo

Due to retrocausality aka the Mandela Effect, that is no longer said in the episode and is silenced. It was said on the episode and all three flinched and made ughs sounds when it was said and now that section is silent, including their reactions.

This is my take but people have such odd taste that I just don't question it anymore. It's like all the people that always talk about how they love Fallout 3 more than New Vegas. You have to just shrug. But I do think that some of Joel's ideals for how to do the show were better long term like not having riffs that are basically just saying the movie is bad.

I could see the writing on the wall with the initial pitch video for Joel's nu-MST3K when they were throwing shade at Kevin's Servo ("I'm gonna have soul now!"), so I never bothered, but I've actually got a bit of hope for this one, just because I love the Rifftrax guys.

Not only did they remove old jokes, they sometimes flat out remove scenes from the movies they buy the rights to for their vod riffs. That has always bugged me, especially when its hypocritical, doing one vod with lots of nudity, then editing it out of the next one, or its just lazy where they've removed whole scenes because they couldn't think of any funny jokes for them.

Yeah, the writing on rifftrax got really bad there for a while, to the point that I finally stopped getting everything they put out. No idea if its gotten any better. The writing staff was Mike and a couple of young guys, all the old cast members just showed up to do their lines. They would break the movies up into 30 minute chunks with each writer taking one chunk to help speed up the process. There are some riffs where its very obvious when they switch to a new writer and the tone shifts completely.
