Don was in the wrong here for hiring Harry.
>>
>>217756407
they should've commited to turning Don into D.B. Cooper, or at least giving him an ending where he fully disappears into the wild somehow. Having him just go right back to advertising after the meditation scene felt retarded. The ending doesn't ruin the show by any means, it's good, but it's just so thematically empty compared to the rest of the show.

Not to sound like a little bitch, but I struggle a smidge with moderating my drinking, and its hard to watch this show sometimes.
I'm about to finish S1.
>>
>>217756505
why isn't Don shown using this superspeed in more episodes? it could have helped him make it to Joan's house in time to stop her from fucking the Jaguar guy
>>
>>217756585
I agree, stolen identity is the basis of the show, could have been exciting. Also, they should have expanded on the Illuminati aspect they introduced at the end of season 1 or 2.

I've been through the same, although it doesn't seem like a women problem particularly, but rather a modern viewer problem
people think a show portraying something means they endorse it, and that by watching it, you avocate for that thing as well
and if there isn't a bunch of exposition saying "this is wrong", people won't think it's clear that the show doesn't necessarily condemn what it portrays
it's all good vs bad within the capeshit mindset anyways
>>
>>217756862
Yeah I'm honestly the same way man. Been trying to make a change and it's hard not wanting to have a couple glasses during a rewatch session. They make it look so casual but for me it's borderline life ruining.
>>
>>217756877
I don't remember this illuminati aspect?
>>
>>217756909
>modern viewer problem
Yeah I can see that being the case. I was watching it while it aired and things have definitely changed socially since then. It feels like pulling teeth trying to explain how depiction =/= endorsement.
>>

https://youtu.be/x_OMFOydQO4?si=0rdQPlT8yt_1lh23&t=1745

I think the writers were hinting at Illuminati with Bert's dialogue, but they never went anywhere with it.

>people think a show portraying something means they endorse it
this, Mad Men is feminist af and if anything it showing how women used to be mistreated enforces this by making you empathize with them, but a lot of people are too retarded to understand this nowadays. Imagine the bitching about the nigger song if 12 years a slave came out today
>>
>>217756585
>retarded
don basically enjoys nothing except for his job. he loves being good at that job. at no point during the story is the job his issue.
>>
>>217756909
I tried showing friends always sunny and we know what the first episode of that is and they all just said it was racist and dumped on it for the whole episode. 10-15 years later these fucks try to talk to me about sunny.
>>
>>217757240

>>
>>217757227
pretty much
not only that, he loves the recognition for it (Clio episode), and felt threathened by Ginsberg natural talent so much that he tried to undermine the guy
>>217757067
I've seen people blame the writers' strike on the loss of some story lines along the way
maybe they just gave up on them
that sort of angle could have been interesting, but honestly I'm ok with the fact that we didn't get it
60s occult societies in advertising? no thanks
>>
>>217757240
fake story and even if it's real you're retarded for starting them on the first episode pre-danny devito. it's a sitcom so there's no "plot" to catch up on.

>Mad Men is feminist af and if anything it showing how women used to be mistreated enforces this by making you empathize with them,
that's the part that aches me the most
I've tried showing it to women and they're all "oooh, this makes me uncomfortable", to which I usually say "yeah, isn't that what you're complaining about all the time? this show portrays it under a critical and realistic light", but they'd rather watch some cheap anachronic fantasy drama with the occasional girl power scene, like Bridgerton or whatever
>>
>>217757336
this one girl I knew couldn't into madmen for this reason.
>"I get that it's not endorsing this behavior but I don't want to see it when I want to relax and watch a show!"
>proceeds to watch true crime all day about women being maimed and killed
>>
>>217757336
>yeah, isn't that what you're complaining about all the time? this show portrays it under a critical and realistic light
but it doesn't make me feel good! Real feminist shows have badass women punching misogynistic assholes in the balls!
Also by comparison this makes it seem like we don't have it too bad nowadays, which is bullshit!
The best way to make people remember our struggle is to never depict it in any way ever again

>"there a few people who get to decide what happen in our world, you have been invited, join them, pull back the curtain and take your seat."
i can see how it sound like occult connections, but im sure this is just him praising Don as a fellow Objectivist and nothing more.
>>
>>217758147
Yeah exactly. I never interpreted it as a shadowy cabal of occultists or illuminati, but more of an ordinary shadowy cabal of successful businessmen, philanthropists, and powerful people.
>>

>>
I love the show, but the more I rewatch it, the more I despise Don
plenty of times he seems to go out of his way to make shit worse for everybody else
>>
>>217758189
I think it basically got repurposed into the Anti-Smoking Cancer Society stuff
That's basically just a group of rich people doing vanity charity stuff and it's where a lot of the connections come from later in the show

>Why I'm Quitting /tv/

Recently my general ended a long relationship with the /tv/ board, and I’m relieved.

For over 25 years we devoted ourselves to peddling a board for which good posting is irrelevant, because people can’t stop themselves from browsing it. A board that never improves, that causes illness, and makes people unhappy. But there was memes in it. A lot of memes. In fact, our entire social life depended on it. We knew it wasn’t good for us, but we couldn’t stop.

And then, when Moot sold his business to that chinaman, I realized, here was my chance to be someone who could sleep at night, because I know what I’m doing doesn’t waste my time.

So as of today, this anon will no longer take anonymous shitposting. I know it’s going to be hard. If you’re interested in spamming up nonsense, here’s a list of generals that do it well: /hor/, /kdg/, /sneed/, /bane/, earthrockers general.

As for us, we welcome all other posters because we’re certain that our best work is still ahead of us.

Pete Campbell has Asperger's. Kartheiser gives an extremely realistic portrayal of the disease, instead of spoon-feeding it to you with absurd exaggerations like actors playing similar characters would, and you were too stupid to pick up on it. But now that you understand, you have a much better appreciating for the character. You're welcome.

Don pissed me right off this episode. Not only did he ditch her at a gala he had zero interest in, he leaves just to bang some hag at least 10 years older than Betty.

He has some bullshit excuse about it being "indecent" but if Betty weren't his wife, there's not question he would immediately try to fuck her. Such a piece of shit.
