This is basically what we know about the Tragedy of Summerhall:
>Summerhall's maester Corso sent a letter before his death, describing the tragedy, but a mishap led to ink blotting out much of the information:
the blood of the dragon gathered in one…seven eggs, to honor the seven gods, though the king's own septon had warned
……pyromancers
……wild fire
……flames grew out of control … towering
……burned so hot that…died, but for the valor of the Lord Comman

Tumblr is obsessed with asoiaf Targaryan lore because they love the "special superpeople" trope usually present in fantasy. These people will find some random Targ shitter George mentions once and base their entire personality around them. They haven't read the books or even watched the show but are obsessed with Targs. Just check out the hotd fangirls it's nothing but fangirl shit about their favorite incestuous Targ.

Can someone explain to me, why was Dorne the hardest kingdom to conquer? They had the smallest population, which was heavily concentrated in Sunspear, if Sunspear fall the entire population is fucked because they would have no other choice but too go die in the desert. They also are by far the closest kingdom to Essos geographically speaking. Shouldnt all this make it easier to conquer them?
>>
>>
>>217767185
And even beyond that. Her body her choice. She chose to marry the bastard of the man who killed her brother. No one forced her to go in there with no plan at all, swear by the old gods to form a union with the man, and then honor those sacred vows by spreading her legs for him in her father's bed, night after night after night.
Again, she was of age, and she chose that life.

they were the feminist kingdom. they had to win.
anyway, they have caves with fish no one knows about and they're all extremely loyal so no one snitched about the caves to any invader because they love their feminist laws so much.
>>
>>217768021
>why was Dorne the hardest kingdom to conquer
it wasn't hard to conquer, it was hard to hold, basically they'd all go fremen on your ass and hide in caves in the sands underneath that awful sun, do horrid forms of terror attakcs and torture and send assassins, and they will never turn on each other either, eventually you'd just want to give up

Yes they are basing it on basic story development.
What is the most climatic ending to a knight and a squire growing into a Kingsguard and a King?
The betrayal of an oath to the man for the oath of the realm.

Just on the show but theres a fair amount of conniving in the books. I think they just mean that literally anywhere else, like what happened in the Riverlands, you’d just bribe a bunch of ambitious middling lords to side with you by giving them the lands and titles of the upper reaches of the nobility and it defeats the whole “entire society operating as one big underground and abandoning civilization just to fuck with you”.
But for some reason that can’t happen in Dorne just because the dornish are so mysterious and dangerous
>>
>>217767399
If Ep3 didn't sell people on the series, the last scene with the reveal being infront of a large fucking group of people, then they just can't enjoy what KotSK is going for.
I still am annoyed at the GoT theme being played to Dunk shitting and the general crudeness of it all but damn it E3 wasn't great all around.
>>
>>217767299
thats actually one of the few based things about christianity (too bad no practicing christian denomination today actually teaches that or takes it seriously, much like the stuff in 2 Timothy about not letting women tteach or have authority over a man)
>>
>>
>>217768684
that's show shit, but what i mean is that the dornish will never turn on each other when being attacked by a foreign invasion, all their beefs with each other die the moment they see white people trying to conquer them, they will always choose dorne, even their own rivals over a targaryen because at least it's a dornish person
>>
>>217768766
The whole "oh this series isn't about big political things, so therefore defecation" premise is stupid and is an example of Hollywood really shitting on you, the goycattle.
What this series actually needs is an opening crawl that's like a bunch of artistic scenes of peasants or lower class arts and crafts and progressively you get more knight stuff until finally it closes with a perhaps distant image of Egg's coronation or something, which sells the whole theme of this much better.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>217768820
See I agree with you but I'd hold off on Egg being coordinated until after his reveal happens.
Have the first season opener building up to a squire being knighted, it's illusionary to Dunk become Cpt of the Guard, but then oh shit once we know who Egg is the opener transitions into his coronation before the High Spetium.
It's not as if we have the rest of the books leading to that happening but I'd rather not spoil the future for none book readers.

>>217768884
What I'm saying is at the end you hint at it. You show a bunch of peasant stuff, you show some knight shields, and then finally you get a kingly image and it's this mysterious figure who is of course Egg.
And the show already spoiled it with the fortune teller. Spoiled fucking everything, as if this won't get another season.
>>
>>217768021
Just accept it's the way it went down, that it could have went down another way but it just didn't.
If I keep speculating to understand this stuff I start becoming a schizophrenic /pol/lack trying to dissect how leftist GRRM is or maybe it's due to his 80's libprog memes about Afghanistan being the graveyard of empires or something.
But all of that is bunk, it's just how he wrote it because it had to be written some way. If it was written the other way we'd be asking why they weren't harder to conquer.
Why is Robb 14 years old? There is no rational answer.
>>
>>217768910
Oh I'm following along with your vision of it anon.
In my verison of it it's all shit paper drawn images of shit that happens but shown vague enough, a spider drowning, a lone hero charging an enemy horde, a bald boy kneel with a glowing halo above it, all done in rough paper sketches.
But the show is destined for fourteen seasons as told by IMG or whatever site.

>>217768021
They are like Dune Fremen or Afghani Taliban. When invaded they hide in secret hideouts in the desert. They never even show up for battle.
The Westerosi marched in, found the cities empty, took up shop in the castles and set up local governors. When the armies marched back north, the governors and their guards all got murdered by assassins and you were back to square one.
The only thing that really hurt them were the Aegon I dragon attacks. He straight up nuked some cities, but that was also abandoned when the Dornish shot down one of his dragons (and his sister-wife).

Seemed realistic given how many dynasties at least in the male line ended up going extinct like with the Karlings, Cerdicings, Merovingians and House of Normandy to name a few. Sometime people just die.

meeting Baelor and adding all the Baratheon show only scenes.
in the book, he goes to tell plummer, who is expecting him, that the Dondarion lord won't vouch for him and stumbles on the Targaryens without realizing who they are and particularly doesn't recognize Baelor until the very end so he kneels and stumbles.
in the show, he sees them riding into the castle and deliberately chases after them and sneaks in. plummer is not expecting him so it's retarded that they kept the lifted dialogue from the book without change. especially having Baelor saying they are the intruders.
>It came to Dunk that he had walked in on something that he ought never have heard. I had best go and come back later, when they are done, he decided. But it was already too late. The prince with the silvery beard suddenly took note of him. “Who are you, and what do you mean by bursting in on us?” he demanded harshly. “He is the knight that our good steward was expecting,” the seated man said, smiling at Dunk in a way that suggested he had been aware of him all the time. “You and I are the intruders here, brother. Come closer, ser.” Dunk edged forward, uncertain what was expected of him. He looked at Plummer, but got no help there. The pinch-faced steward who had been so forceful yesterday now stood silent, studying the stones of the floor. “My lords,” he said, “I asked Ser Manfred Dondarrion to vouch for me so I might enter the lists, but he refuses. He says he knows me not. Ser Arlan served him, though, I swear it. I have his sword and shield, I—” “A shield and a sword do not make a knight,” declared Lord Ashford, a big bald man with a round red face. “Plummer has spoken to me of you. Even if we accept that these arms belonged to this Ser Arlan of Pennytree, it may well be that you found him dead and stole them. Unless you have some better proof of what you say, some writing or—” “I remember Ser Arlan of Pennytree,” the man in the high seat said quietly.

>“He never won a tourney that I know, but he never shamed himself either. At King’s Landing sixteen years ago, he overthrew Lord Stokeworth and the Bastard of Harrenhal in the melee, and many years before at Lannisport he unhorsed the Grey Lion himself. The lion was not so grey then, to be sure.” “He told me about that, many a time,” said Dunk. The tall man studied him. “Then you will remember the Grey Lion’s true name, I have no doubt.” For a moment there was nothing in Dunk’s head at all. A thousand times the old man had told that tale, a thousand times, the lion, the lion, his name, his name, his name . . . He was near despair when suddenly, it came. “Ser Damon Lannister!” he shouted. “The Grey Lion! He’s Lord of Casterly Rock now.” “So he is,” said the tall man pleasantly, “and he enters the lists on the morrow.” He rattled the sheaf of papers in his hand. “How can you possibly remember some insignificant hedge knight who chanced to unhorse Damon Lannister sixteen years ago?” said the prince with the silver beard, frowning. “I make it a practice to learn all I can of my foes.” “Why would you deign to joust with a hedge knight?” “It was nine years past, at Storm’s End. Lord Baratheon held a hastilude to celebrate the birth of a grandson. The lots made Ser Arlan my opponent in the first tilt. We broke four lances before I finally unhorsed him. “Seven,” insisted Dunk, “and that was against the Prince of Dragonstone!” No sooner were the words out than he wanted them back. Dunk the lunk, thick as a castle wall, he could hear the old man chiding. “So it was.” The prince with the broken nose smiled gently. “Tales grow in the telling, I know. Do not think ill of your old master, but it was four lances only, I fear.” Dunk was grateful that the hall was dim; he knew his ears were red. “My lord.” No, that’s wrong too. “Your Grace.” He fell to his knees and lowered his head. “As you say, four, I meant no . . . I never . . . The old man, Ser Arlan, he

>“My lord.” No, that’s wrong too. “Your Grace.” He fell to his knees and lowered his head. “As you say, four, I meant no . . . I never . . . The old man, Ser Arlan, he used to say I was thick as a castle wall and slow as an aurochs.” “And strong as an aurochs, by the look of you,” said Baelor Breakspear. “No harm was done, ser. Rise.” Dunk got to his feet, wondering if he should keep his head down or if he was allowed to look a prince in the face. I am speaking with Baelor Targaryen, Prince of Dragonstone, Hand of the King, and heir apparent to the Iron Throne of Aegon the Conqueror. What could a hedge knight dare say to such a person? “Y-you gave him back his horse and armor and took no ransom, I remember,” he stammered. “The old—Ser Arlan, he told me you were the soul of chivalry, and that one day the Seven Kingdoms would be safe in your hands.” “Not for many a year still, I pray,” Prince Baelor said. “No,” said Dunk, horrified. He almost said, I didn’t mean that the king should die, but stopped himself in time. “I am sorry, m’lord. Your Grace, I mean.” Belatedly he recalled that the stocky man with the silver beard had addressed Prince Baelor as brother. He is blood of the dragon as well, damn me for a fool. He could only be Prince Maekar, the youngest of King Daeron’s four sons. Prince Aerys was bookish and Prince Rhaegel mad, meek, and sickly. Neither was like to cross half the realm to attend a tourney, but Maekar was said to be a redoubtable warrior in his own right, though ever in the shadow of his eldest brother.

I get where you are coming from, but delaying the reveal of who the Targaryens are is a pointless non-mystery. It works for books because of limited perspectives and non-omniscient POVs, but you can't do that in a visual medium. Or if you do, the audience is going to either figure it out immediately and wonder why Dunk doesn't get it, or they won't figure it out and wonder who the fuck these people are and why they should care.
TV audiences are dumb, and this is a case where cutting to the chase works better.

Ooo, grape salsa is a sleeper hit —sweet, tangy, a little savory. Here’s a super fresh, crowd-pleasing version you can tweak easily.
Fresh Grape Salsa
Ingredients
2 cups red or black seedless grapes, finely chopped
¼ cup red onion, very finely diced
1 small jalapeño, minced (remove seeds for less heat)
¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped (optional but great)
Zest of 1 lime
2–3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1–2 tbsp olive oil
Salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional add-ins (pick your vibe)
1 tbsp honey or agave (if your grapes aren’t super sweet)
¼ cup diced cucumber for extra crunch
2 tbsp crumbled feta or queso fresco for a savory twist
A pinch of chili powder or Tajín for a Mexican-style kick
Instructions
Chop the grapes finely—smaller pieces = better salsa texture.
In a bowl, mix grapes, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.
Add lime zest, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Taste and adjust: more lime for tang, salt for balance, honey for sweetness.
Chill for 15–30 minutes to let the flavors mingle.
How to serve it
With cinnamon sugar tortilla chips
On grilled chicken or fish
Over pork tacos
As a topper for cream cheese + crackers
If you want, I can give you a spicy version, a fruitier dessert-style salsa, or one that pairs perfectly with seafood.
