Test Screening Reactions For: Evil Dead Burn are very positive
It takes place right after Evil Dead Rise
The Lead character is named Alice
The film mostly takes place in a old house near a funeral service
The there are a lot of long takes
Lots of gore

I just finished We Bury the Dead and they just had to add a FUCKING BABY in to.

I saw Tormento a few days ago. I was surprised as I kept waiting for the movie to fall apart. I noticed most horror movies or movies in general tend to get boring once it reaches the 60% mark and ending at the 80% mark and then picks up again.

02/05/26(Thu)08:54:12 No.217790026 Just finished. Another Letterboxd Top 250 Horror movie, another non-horror movie. This is a preposterously stupid Indian psychological drama/comedy, about a girl who thinks she's possessed by the spirit of an ancient dancer who killed herself. Does nothing to justify its two and a half hour runtime, and it's a whole hour before the star of the movie even shows up. Deeply unfunny and seems to be making a case for science over superstition, but its idea of what psychology is is shit-smearingly retarded. I'll give it that it takes some fucking balls to make the climax of your psychodrama a fucking musical number. Torture.

One can't be without the others. It's the format of Alien with the paranoia of The Thing, mixed with the religious aspect of The Exorcist.
Even the character names give away the inspirations for the movie. Giles (Childs) and Paxton (Bill Paxton). It has heavy references throughout, which you would expect from a straight-to-video sci-fli flick coming out in the wake of those movies

02/05/26(Thu)12:24:53 No.217791810 Just finished. Another Letterboxd Top 250 horror (only got 3 left.). This one is a Serbian witch movie, but what it really is is a desperate Malick wannabe. Lots of floaty camerawork and whispery voiceover and changing character pov. A witch makes a deal with a young mother to wait until a baby comes to sixteen years of age before taking her on as an apprentice instead of outright killing her, and the movie is following that young girl as she grows up and experiences the world as a witch hiding among humans. It can be kind of self important, but I liked the message and the ending, and it has some witch lore I wasn't familiar with in it. It's for arthouse fans, not /hor/, but if you liked Hagazussa I'd say give it a shot. Oh yeah, it kind of sells itself in having Noomi Rapace but she's only in it for about fifteen minutes.

Crystal Lake is the only one that interests me, just because the first movie implies that a bunch of weird shit happened around the camp, and there’s a lot of blank spots in the lore. Namely, what Pamela and Jason were up to in the years between his “drowning” and the first film. With TCM, it’s just going to be about the Sawyers killing, and the Cook being the only one who semi-functions in society, and Halloween is just Michael sitting motionless and expressionless in a mental institute while Loomis spergs out.

Freddy is a special case because all the other villains wear masks and are mute so can be played by anyone whereas Robert Englund is so iconic and associated with his role as Freddy that nobody else will ever be able to replace him. It's just like with Harrison Ford and Han Solo/Indiana Jones or Brad Dourif as Chucky. I thought Jackie Earle Haley did a pretty good job as Freddy in the remake desu. He's no Englund, but I doubt they could find a better replacement and would've liked to have seen another movie with him where they fixed his CGI face.
