They got cures for bad livers and intoxication in outer space. In that episode where they think Gowron is a changeling, the crew gets intoxication meds that let them keep up with the Klingons drinking bloodwine all night.

Do any of you have a favorite commentary track from the TNG blurays?
I like the one for Frame of Mind where the director and the DP bullshit about their jobs and have maybe a sentence or two about the actual episode.Their careers were genuinely interesting and I thought they had neat insights on running a set and lighting so I wasn't too bothered by it.

I could only digest like two episodes of VOY

>because of Bajorian Cardassian conflict
Nah familia, siding with bajorans is lame as fuck it's revolting
If the Federation was mediator between them I could understand it, I could watch Bajoran-Cardassian conflict from a third party perspective.
But the Federation is clearly siding with Bajorans, are bajoran puppets, are bajoran lapdogs and bajorans bitches, and there is no Bajoran-Cardassian conflict, it's (Bajoran->)Federation-Cardassian conflict
And I could even understand all that if the Federation was exploiting the bajoran's souls or using their women to sell them or something.
But no
It's just a gay outpost in the corner of the universe, and Federation-wise, doesn't matter who controls the wormhole, Bajorans or Cardassians, but we are assumed and expected to side Bajoran

He never "raped" anyone. He admitted that he inappropriately touched one young girl and exposed himself to two others from 1973 to 1994. As far as I know, he was never charged, tried, or convicted of anything.
Of course, when you think about it, he practically exposed himself to millions in STtMP, so I'm sure the poor guy's already been shamed enough for that.

They'd adapt to it pretty quick. It worked because they weren't ready for it. That's pretty much the gimmick with the Borg. You figure out some clever way to kill them, it works once, maybe twice then they figure it out and you have to figure out something new.

I swear the word only became mainstream like a decade ago.
Personally it bugs the fuck out of me because the way most people use it doesn't feel like it makes grammatical sense. For example, like someone describing franchises they're interested in as "my fandoms"... that just sounds like a person talking about their own discrete groups of fans to me.

I guarantee the slogan "autism is a superpower" was not coined or approved by an autistic person. It grinds my gears every time I see it out in the wild. Autism is a disability where the only treatment is hiding it from others. And most of the time the special interest ends up being the first cartoon we watched or video game we played when we were six.

i loved this answer because it goes to show how the apologetics and gaslighting are literally genetically hardcoded into their brains and even a precious bean like Weyoun 6 who was trying to genuinely be good and defy the evil of his gods will say some stupid bullshit like that. slave races aren't allowed any critical thinking.

I think I can't take Janeway seriously because of her height. When you see her next to a man it just feels like they're placating their tiny grandma rather than following the orders of a captain.
However I can take Seven or Kira semi-seriously as strong female protagonists, so I guess those extra 3 inches make a huge difference (plus I think they wear higher heels than Mulgrew).
Has there ever been a manlet captain?

Bill Shatner doesn't use social media. He hired a fat (R)eddit mod (yes, really) to manage all his social media. Shatner does not use it - at all. What's worse is that his social media manager actually LARPs as William Shatner too without the real one's approval. There was a big covfefe about it a couple years ago, but the real William Shatner remains blissfully ignorant about the whole thing.

it's just a bad idea in general because I as a Star Trek fan and someone who has bought into the premise am not interested in going back in time to watch a show that is basically taking place where humans are still fumbling and fucking around and being shitty. Star Trek is supposed to take place past all that.

I think that was going to be a hard material aesthetic to hit regardless in terms of the in universe stuff, since ToS is distinctly a 1960's view of the future materially and it would be hard to "wheel back on" while still feeling plasable in a 2000s world. I have no problem with the material aesthetics they went for in ENT, its just the cowboy trucker thing they went for culturally thats a bit odd.
But granted I do think its not completely out of the blue since this is Humanities "Plucky underdog" space faze and it does make sense in light of what we saw in First Contact about post ww3 human culture being more "Red neck american". Just think they could have softend it a bit more, like how the 2000's Battlestar Galactica is obviously US military inspired, but they arent so agressively "rooten' tooten' cowboy shootn'" in how they go about it.

Funnily enough that sentence made sense to me. I feel "represent representations" is an accurate way to describe how removed all the prequel shows' TOS "tie-ins" feel; they're not organically segueing into the TOS, they're just representing iconic imagery from the original show while avoiding looking too "corny." Thus making it a hollow representation of a representation.

when people say ENT is dated and very "2000s" they're talking about how heavily it uses media tropes and shit that were popular at that specific time period that was in other media and that's why when you watch it it remind you of that specific time period for example the heavy handed 9/11 slop plotlines and the boner comedy shit that you don't see anymore. the other show went ot of their way to be timeless in that way. but your minds are literally not operating at a level for you to comprehend that so you start talking about Jake's shirt like it's the same thing.

Many fans, including author duo Josepha Sherman and Susan Shwartz, keep making Spock and Saavik hook up and get married, but I was never that keen on this pairing. She was his student. Though I guess technically she fucked teenage Spock in TSFS.

I'll be surprised it if takes that long, I haven't known anybody to have a regular cable package in 15+ years, if they don't pay for 1-3 streaming services then they just watch pluto/roku/tubi/whatever for free.
Tom Paris was the odd one out in the 24th century, B'Elanna didn't really 'get' why he was content to just watch a screen instead of interacting with the story on a holodeck like a normal person. Maybe it's like being a silent film fan in the 21st century, the format itself is antique and therefore not mainstream.

Nobody born after 2010 really watches scripted television either. If your story can't be told in 60 seconds, it's not worth telling to them.

I would have been ok with a Spock/Saavik marriage. I see nothing wrong with age gap pairings, especially when it's older man, younger woman. It used to be the ideal before the days of toxic feminism. Along with being less bitchy, and more loyal than older women, younger women are the most fertile, and most likely to produce more children, while older men are more likely to have accumulated more of the means necessary to raise a larger family and leave a substantial legacy to his heirs.

Besides, Spock really dodged a bullet with T'Pring, and Stonn got what he deserved with that bitch. I'm pretty sure that Spock's last words to him rang in Stonn's head for decades after that little stunt she pulled.

Russia is a transcontinental country. The Ural Mountains are generally considered the boundary between Europe and Asia.
77% of Russia's land is in Asia (Siberia and the Far East).
75% of Russia's population lives in the European part (west of the Urals).
So, while the country is mostly in Asia, the people are mostly in Europe.
