Unironically a solid 8/10 if it’s anything like Sonic Generations but with Shadow content. The dual gameplay style with Classic and Modern still holds up, and throwing Shadow in the mix could add some edge (literally) and gameplay variety. Just please no vehicle levels like in Shadow the Hedgehog. Bonus points if they give us insane remixes of tracks like "White Jungle" or "Radical Highway." Would play Day 1.

Generation Classic Sonic sucks, movement and physics feel bad and the stages are bad.
Probably the most fun boost Sonic has ever been, but levels can still feel like endless hallways.
Shadow Generations, for better or worse, has the same quality as the base game. Higher effort than I expected but it really doesn't improve anything.

It's pretty bad honestly.
it uses the new engine with broken programming.
basically they broke a shitload of things when they went from generations to forces and frontiers.
-Grinding is a lot worse
-Rail flipping animations no longer line up correctly
-The rail jump animation is broken and result in the ending of the jank rail flip animation being played instead
-The various stylish animations after homing attacks got removed
-Tricks got broken
-the jump mechanic was broken and basically kills all your speed, the turning is also fucked
-Shadow has pretty bad animation in general, his boost animation is just him flying in a static pose
-The chaos spear gliding glitch is a product of bad design and looks fucking stupid. (sonic fans actually defend this shit claiming it's the "solution" to the games bad physics)

As a total package it's a 10, unironically. Shadow Generations is excellent but a bit light on content on its own, but as an add-on to the original Gens it's well worth it. The original is still excellent outside of Planet Wisp being way too slow-paced for a final stage and I actually like the gameplay tweaks. The only negative I could think of are the dumb redubs of the old cutscenes, but Generations has the most nothing skippable story in the series anyway. Yes it's stupid to dial back an Amy slapstick moment and remove Knuckles calling Classic Sonic fat without reanimating his reaction to it, but I genuinely only learned about that from people complaining about it because I just skipped them wholesale on my replay.

shadow's stuff really lived up to sonic generations. the upgrades felt good, and it just made me want to replay it
thats really all a sonic game needs to do, is to feel better the more you play it

Decent enough remaster of the original Generations, really wish they could have found more to add other than pointless Chao collectibles though
The new Shadow Generations content kinda shits on the old game though, it feels so much smoother in terms of control, and the level design is just flat out better. No "3D stages" that are half 2D, no parts where you're forced to wait for moving platforms to align or stage hazards to get out of the way, you can just keep going at top speed the whole time if you're good enough. Honestly the biggest problem is the soundtrack being mediocre. It's like the opposite of most 3D Sonic games

Shadow levels contain mid level cutscenes, QTEs like forces and they get interrupted by bullshit Inception alternate dimension section even tho you just wanted to play rail.
Shadows mechanics are also very confused. he has 2 different homing attacks, a bizarre janky combo mechanic that pummels enemies, initiates an aiming mini-game, kicks them and then teleports you to them, his jump kills all your speed.
Instead of simply running on water he summons a demon stingray, he has a redundant grapple mechanic and a wall climbing mechanic both of which stop you from playing as shadow and transform you into some weird ball of goo.
All of this is just so divorced from what shadow should play like and not what you want from a sonic game.

I'll give you the mid level cutscenes at least, but it's only in three acts out of twelve and two of those three are the lowest tier 3D levels in the game anyway

I think there's literally only one, the missile in Space Colony Ark act 1. It's not like Unleashed/Colors where you had a 5 button QTE every time you launched off a rail

Solid 9/10, pretty much every single bit of it was really fun and I only wish there was more. I rate the base game of Sonic Gen a tad lower than the original because they fucked up shit that was important to me. Mainly the music at the start of the Metal Sonic fight. That shit was perfect, why the hell did they change anything?

Sonic Generations is a 6/10. They fucked around with shit they didn't need to and didn't fix shit that needed it. The final boss is still absolutely godawful.

Shadow Generations is a 10/10. Good levels, snappy controls, fun boss fights with actual good remixes of their themes, and with an engaging story with interesting characters, and Shadow goes through character development. Also some fucking stunning animation, like every time Black Doom interrupts Shadow to drag him to Radical Highway and the entire level just morphs into it.

(6 + 10)/2 = 8. So, 8/10.

They used the OST version of the Metal Sonic boss by accident. Weird fuck up because the "turn it up" bit was like perfectly timed to play as the boss started

I don't understand the praise for this game, the levels are long and clunky as hell, lock on target shit, super easy and mindless stages with 0 challenge. Sonic is hit or miss but this game is basically all bad levels, Frontiers and Colors are both much better collections of levels and Frontiers and Colors are both mediocre
