No idea about China, but for Russia - yes. Somewhere around September 2025 a weird error started bugging players who had Russian IPs or account registered in Russia (even if later they moved to a different country). If your account was affected, you would fail to login into the game around the starting screen, and the game would display a TAPIR error. Usually this error means that the game is currently undergoing maintenance, but the error keeps appearing every time you try to login from an affected account unless you use specific tools (VPNs or latency optimization services) to circumvent it, and if you do, you can play normally as if nothing happened. For some reason this error affected people from Europe, the USA or other countries.

Bungie devs initially were silent about the issue or said the generic 'we are investigating', but after a while they started saying that the "services are unavailable where access is restricted by law".

This answer also doesn't really explain anything since they don't actually say whose laws make this restriction and which countries are restricted, and also refuse to give any clarifications. Meanwhile Destiny 1 remains available. Since around 10-13% of total players were from Russia, this was a severe blow to the total player count, people just stopped caring altogether, even the most hardcore Bungie fanatics started to leave. It is possible to play around this error, but people just don't really care anymore. I also really want to see Marathon released to see if TAPIR would still be around.

Fun fact: Bungie explicitly stated that as the war began, they would no longer sell Destiny 2 in Russian and Belarus, but they keep doing a complete Russian translation with voiceover for Destiny 2 even up to this day. They also announced a complete Russian translation with voiceover for Marathon, lol.

I strongly believe Marathon will have F2Try week during its launch window for publicity as well, they will 100% flaunt some numbers saying 'SEE ITS NOT CONCORD, PEOPLE LOVE US' i highly doubt it can beat Highguard numbers on its own.

There are also a lot of speculations (sometimes more than that) about some games running bots for concurrent / peak numbers, i remember some chink games never drop below certain number no matter what, CS2 is infamously known to be filled with bots farming XP / Stars for armory pass, with numbers being as little as 20% and as high as 50% of playercount being fake.

After a little investigating about the combat telemetry problem.

>One for this Bow Armsweek
>The only one capped at 500 is the Handcannon armsweek telemetry while the rest are capped at 999
Somehow, someway Bungie have managed to have the very first armsweek combat telemetry drop instead of the one for Bows... though its already retarded they have 3 duplicates of the same currency instead of just 1 type that can be used in all armsweek events.
