>FAQ:
>Q: How often should I long rest?
>A: Many companion and romance interactions occur when long resting. Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.
>Q: Can I recruit Minthara without going down the evil path?
>A: If you knock her out in Act 1, yes. You do miss out on the sex scene, but otherwise the romance remains the same.
>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?
>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.
>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?
>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.
>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?
>A:No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.
>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?
>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.

I really want to play BG3 but I have issues with failing rolls and stuff. How often do you guys reset saves on every failed roll, be it dialogue, combat, perception checks when walking by stuff etc?
I don't like missing content so I always find myself reloading. How do I convince myself to just not. Do you guys have exceptions for when you might reload?

just roll with the failure, you'll hardly ever be locked out of anything important, at most you might avoid a combat encounter.

If I had to name a culprit, it would probably be the parasite. You know, the kind of worthless yet persistent vermin that only comes here to shit on the game, its writing, its companions, its waifus. The kind that creates threads with an ugly, off-topic picture (>>555156769). The kind that only comes here to talk about Larian's Next Game (>>555344769). The kind that abhors beauty and prefers posting ugly, off-topic lizards (>>555447497). The kind that shares Swen's whiny, off-topic tweets (>>555408660, >>555522647). The kind that deliberately and maliciously brings the kind of low-effort shitposting it no doubt learned from its home general. When you enable the parasite and foster such an environment, valuable anons (including waifufags) are less inclined to stay. But sure, let's blame it on the namefag who posts maybe once a day. Baldur's Gate 3.

I don't savescum but I also think the whole mentality of not wanting to "miss" content defeats the point of RPGs and most games in general. Reloading to retry a failed roll or because I triggered a trap or got ambushed or something bothers me way more than failing the roll in the first place.

I can't help but note the subtle tension here - if failure is indeed immersive, then why do you need Inspiration points to "reroll," say, a failed speech? It's akin to casting Shield after knowing that the arrow will indeed hit your squishy spellcaster, thus retroactively deflecting it in time. Caring about immersion is fine, but ultimately, it's still a video game. You have to find a balance.

This argument might work for TES Argonians, but the Gith aren't naturally egg-laying frog-men. They were a race of normal humans from another world before the Illithids enslaved them and fucked their shit all up because mind flayers really like experimenting on their slave races.

>good-aligned guild of rogues.
That's precisely what theHarpersare except more decentralized and not restricted by classes. Majority of them in-game are Fighters and Rangers with Wizards as a very distant third. The companion I mentioned is a returning one from previous BG games, anybody who played them know she's ahigh-ranking member of the Harpers. Her quest involves two other organizations that fit some of your criteria. This is just to show that the game's world will able to accommodate your characters.
>hope that won't be a problem
The game is fully playable even solo. You obviously lose good chunk of contents by doing this but that comes with the territory.
>it seems like all demon-like creatures aren't necessarily evil.
The Blood War, an ageless conflict between fiends (inhabitants of the Lower Planes, devils are one of their subtype) and demons in the Nine Hells is a notable part of the lore. Karlach (and to an extent Wyll) could tell you a lot about it. Fiends in general are well represented in BG3 and play a part in the main story too. The same can't be said about demons, but the point is things are sometimes a bit more complicated.
>noble assassin who handles business for a wealthy house for the elf
In this game Rogue as a pure class is mediocre and Assassin is it's 2nd best subclass. The class is still fully viable for a playthrough, others just have more to offer. Assassin (and Thief) is the most desirable as a 3-4 level dip for multi-classing but I'd avoid that for your first run, or at least until you get the hang of how the game works.
>veteran tacticians rather than sneaky edgelords
This part screams Fighter/Battle Master, which is covered by a companion but otherwise a very strong and straightforward subclass. They're not Assassin-like in terms of playstyle and gear, but some special Medium Armor can allow you to ditch Heavy and 1H+Shield is just as viable as 2Hers.

>It's a reward that DMs give players for RPing.
Right. We're talking about BG3. If immersion is truly your concern, then you should roll once and accept the outcome, whatever it is. Realism doesn't allow a reroll or four because you are "inspired" after the fact. It's the same thing for Shield. Narratively, a character casts the spell in reaction to an arrow coming their way - not because the attack roll beat their AC, and now Shield suddenly sounds like a good idea.
>>
>>
>>555533561
You're a little wrong here. Fiend as a term encompasses all evil-aligned outsiders, including demons.
Devils were originally angels created in the early early times by the gods of law to kill the endlessly spawning chaotic demons. They eventually started becoming twisted and fucked up due to their war and, long story short, Asmodeus, who was the best of the best of them, did a lot of slimy lawyer shit and negotiated a pact with the gods to take the Nine Hells as the devils' own plane.
The Blood War is fiends having an ideological law vs chaos disagreement with law-aligned devils despising the destructive nature of the demons.
>The same can't be said about demons
Isn't Shovel the only demon in the game? It's all devils with one pet quasit.

It's the same reason she has the artifact, she is the only one who comes to camp multiple times if you don't recruit them, and why act 2 becomes the Shadowheart show halfway through. Only 2 companions have camp visitors all for them, Wyll has Mizora and his father, but Shart gets two parents and two Selune fantatics, who have more scenes about them than Wyll's family. Comparing Karlach's companion questline journal entries to Shart's is a joke. When you really start looking, you realize how much Shart is favored. Lazy has a ton of stuff if you count Orpheus and the Creche as her story but no one comes close to Shart who takes over act 2 and her choice determines the finale of act 2 and who lives or dies. We can go on and on with more, from her camp stool that no one else has, to her quests in act 3 being just as much as any other character who has act 3 quests despite her taking over act 2, and on and on.
Which is the exact same reason Liara Tsoni has her own dlc all about her, is the only character to be in all 4 mass effect games, and has her own comic about her to tell the audience what she was up to between 2 and 3.
Developers have a tendency, whether it's conscious/intentional or not, to do this. Yennefer and Morrigan come to mind as well, half of the Witcher games is about finding Yennefer, and Morrigan is similar to Liara in that she is one of the only characters to be in every Dragon Age game and also has her own dlc all about her. Developers know who is going to be the popular waifu among normies so they put more development behind them. It's not a bad thing on it's own, but part of you does have to wonder which came first: the chicken or the egg. They got more development, so they're more popular, or they knew they were going to be popular so they got more development. In the case of bg3, it also has the fact the conventionally attractive white woman is going to beat the frog and the red devil and the one that most players just kill in act 1.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>555546367
I think blatantly unfair development time/effort distribution is a bad thing in a vacuum if it's arbitrary, but on the other hand, you do want to cater your product to the largest demographic. So making a series of decisions that further caters to who they know is going to be the popular one just makes sense from a practical standpoint. There's a thousand Shart lovers for every frog/Minth/Karl lover, so who can really say that it's incorrect to lean into that. I understand why they favored Shart so much, it wasn't random or arbitrary. But yes I would agree in theory that unfair distribution of effort is bad. So idk.

Either play a cha martial like paladin, swords bard, or hexblade, or fail all your dialogue checks. Trying to build a cha fighter is a waste of your time, but if you're really set on it you can just dump str and chug hill giants.
>>
>>555547242
You don't really need the charisma skills for dialogue, there's a lot of other skill checks and class dialogues that come up and you can always have a party member cast enhance ability and guidance on you.

The core issue is the tieflings not waiting for anybody. I can't tell if the gnomes act the same if you don't give Wulbren his hammer, but if he has the ability to break walls he frees the other prisoners too. This is why it has to be done in this order. As for the chains the reason you don't break them yourself is to ensure that everybody arrives to the boat in time. Gnomes move 1.5m less per turn than most humanoids, meaning it's usually Wulbren himself who gets there last. Breaking chains acts as a buffer to buy everyone time. IIRC once that's done there's a 3 round waiting period then the boat departs.

Isobel and Aylin have nothing to do with Shart in act 3 though. To be honest, I think they're in camp due to a scrapped Ketheric companion plotline.
>>
>>555563513
I think Ketheric companion plotline was going to be a thing very early when the Nightsong wasn't Aylin. With the current lore Ketheric would get a restraining order instead of being in the same camp as Isobel and Aylin.
>>
>>555563884
>I think Ketheric companion plotline was going to be a thing very early when the Nightsong wasn't Aylin.
Swen never said this. In the current game, you can sway him but then he randomly fights you at the last second
>>
>>555564161
That's just to skip the first phase of his final fight, if it was supposed to be something more it wasn't changed very late since so little companion stuff about Ketheric exists in the files. Minthara and Halsin being able to go to the creche was changed later most likely.

Dude, Swen literally said that was the moment you were supposed to recruit him. His recruitment, and a lot of other stuff, got cut since the game was getting too big.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>555565209
Changes to Isobel and Nightsong were done VERY early in development. I datamined every version of EA and the major changes to Nightsong didn't take long. Ketheric's recruitment cut was done much later on. Even in the final version, you can see precisely where in the dialogue they awkwardly cut his recruitment and forced you to fight him instead.
>You weren't supposed to have Ketheric, Aylin and Isobel in your camp at the same time.
This is you talking out of your ass.
>>
>>555565513
The cutoff point and start of the fight was made to be Aylin's appearence because you absolutely weren't supposed to have them in friendly terms. Which is why they were never going to be in your camp at the same time.

I think they're in the camp because of ongoing Nightsong plotline with Lorroakan. Once he's defeated they only stay until the next Long Rest, don't they?
>>
>>
>>555565730
He was supposed to have a character arc, my guy. If he betrayed the Absolute, then forgiveness could be on the table for Isobel. If companion Ketheric helped defend Aylin from Lorroakan, then they would be on decent terms after that. They could move on as a happy family.
How the fuck would Swen put a full "character arc" for him if Isobel wasn't even allowed to be in camp while he's recruited? Your posts don't make sense. It's like you're disagreeing just to disagree
>>
>>
>>555565806
>Once he's defeated they only stay until the next Long Rest, don't they?
The Ketheric cut made that whole quest very awkward. Isobel and Aylin have no reason to stick around in your camp, but they do it anyway. Then they leave, just as randomly, once the Lorroakan quest is complete. If Ketheric were a companion, Isobel would have a reason to tag along as a camp follower

>>555566948
Now that you mention they didn't even know about Lorroakan having a price on Aylin's head. So while it makes sense from a technical POV for them to stick around (you have a quest to finish that goes back all the way to the Act 1) their personal motivation is not necessarily there. Maybe they just treated it as a temporary thing until something more meaningful comes along. And to be fair there were some foreshadowing before their departure, even if that might have felt as an innocent remark at the time.

>their personal motivation is not necessarily there
Aylin is committed to helping the player character because she's honorable and duty-bound, and stopping the Absolute is the right thing to do. Similarly, she helps Shadowheart out of gratitude, not personal gain. Isobel tags along because, obviously, she would accompany her lover. They're not in your camp just for sightseeing. The food is terrible, and the company is even worse.

I don't know what is it with swen but he's getting way more vocal on twitter , last time he got this excited he leaked that gnomes were coming to BG3 and had to add their buggy race to the early access to not disappoint the fans, next game's marketing campaign will be spicy

I think I got the point. Anon is claiming a disconnect between the reason Aylin and Isobel stayed at camp before they even learned of Lorroakan and the scripted event that later requires their presence. My answer to that is simple - Aylin and Isobel have a narrative reason to stay, at least for a few nights, and narrative logic takes priority over the scripted events. Storytelling and scripting are not always going to match perfectly. We as players understand the scripting role of Yenna. Narratively, she's just a kid you took pity on.

Try roleplaying. From a pragmatic and evil perspective, massacring the grove is both easier and potentially gets you in the good graces of a high-ranking True Soul. If your only incentive before the change was drow pussy, then you were never evil to begin with. You were just a faker.

Why does the parasite feel the need to reply to each of my posts? Is it that desperate for attention when its shitposts get no attention? I don't expect a moron that spends its free time playing Street Fighter and scrolling through twitter to know the first thing about narrative, let alone elusive values such as "honor" and "duty." I think the parasite should stick to things that befit its lack of intelligence, like liking Swen because Swen is liked by everyone. That's an easy narrative to follow, for the mentally challenged.

>Personally, I got my first threats of violence in 2009, all because I was trying to make something fun and failed in that person's opinion. There’s been a long list of things thrown at me since. It kind of sucks, especially given that I got into making games because I enjoy seeing people have fun with what I worked on. It took me quite some time to learn how to deal with that. These days, I still read the hurtful comments, but I focus mainly on the constructive opinions. They're the ones that helped shape BG3's success.

Correct. That's clearly off-topic garbage instigated by a parasite that wants to turn this general into a cesspool. What Swen had for breakfast, his life aspirations, his values, his latest twitter dispute - none of that is on topic. You're not talking about the VIDEO GAME when you ramble about Swen and politics and the ethics of very mean words in game reviews. Cry about the companions lacking diversity again. That's terribly dull, but it's at least on topic.

I think it's just some unfamiliarity with the naming conventions, Aylin can't be called demigoddess since those are part of the proper godly ranks, don't live on the mortal plane and are subject to Ao's restrictions. Aylin's immortality and permawings are much stronger than what the playable Aasimar race gets so the technical term would be half-celestial, but that's a broad category and includes descendants of random angels too.

Sex. I'm talking about sex. Intercourse. Fade to black with implied coitus. It's always about sex with you "people." Missionary sex with Astarion. On his grave. Altar sex with Minthara. Your obedience will make this more enjoyable for the both of you. Moonlit sex with Shadowheart. Selûne is watching, but you don't care. Sparring sex to establish dominance with Lae'zel. Submissive sex, too. Lower. Taste. Hot and passionate sex with Karlach. Until you see nothing but stars. Sex. Why can't you have sex with Jaheira? That's not fair. I'm sure she's still a cougar, if you know what I mean. And by that, I mean sex. Kagha should have been a companion. So you could have sex with her. The viper must strike... get it? The joke is sex. The punchline is sex. Mizora should have been your patron. So she could reward you with sex. Good pup. Sex. Remember to frequently long rest - not so you can rest your mind and body, but so you can have more sex, of course. Sex with Bex the sex. Awkward sex with Alfira. Sad sex with Inwe. Sex with the harpies, too. Sex, sex, sex! Pity sex with Florrick. She owes you as much for saving her. Do you think Vlaakith is a virgin? Sex with Baretha, Yy'rul, Therezzyn, Isobel, Aylin, Araj, Sloncha, Patty, Dalyria, Elin, and all these characters who exist only for sexual temptation. Forbidden sex with the Mother Superior. I wonder if Shar ever had sex. Lesbian sex. Incestuous sex. Twin sister sex. Shapeshifting sex with Orin - even if she murders you after. Worth it. Sex. Has it been about 2 minutes since you last thought of sex? Are there any mods that enhance sex scenes? Can't wait to turn on photo mode, or sex mode as I like to call it... you know what that means. Sex. Lots of it. Swearing an Oath of Devotion to sex. First tenet: Never miss an opportunity for sex. Oh, but if the writers even suggest that a companion might be interested in sex... then they're sex-obsessed. What can change the nature of a person? The answer must be sex.

We're speaking of a goddess, not a mortal. Does it really make sense to think in mortal terms? I very much doubt there was sexual intercourse with an unspecified sperm donor, conception, pregnancy, birth, nursing, child-rearing, the whole works. I think that if Selûne wanted a daughter, she could materialize an adult one, and that's what happened.

That's not Mintharafag's character - though irrelevant in this case, I feel compelled to be truthful. Playing an evil character doesn't make you an evil person in real life. Your in-game avatar isn't literally you. It's called roleplaying, sweetheart.

While the flavor text is a bit silly in nature, it does imply that Selune is associated with having sex.
Wiki page also says that Selune controls reproductive cycles, ensures safety of birth and whatnot, so it does seem child rearing isn't something out of the ordinary for her.

This is a case where headcanon could go either way, and only yours (mine) matters, ultimately. I choose to reject the idea of a natural birth, complete with eighteen years or so of child-rearing until little Aylin was old enough to fly on her own angelic wings. What a lonely existence that would have been. It's not that it's unheard of for gods to have sex - Mystra comes to mind, obviously, as does Bhaal prior to the Time of Troubles - but I just don't see it happening with Selûne or Shar. These are primordial goddesses, not mortals-turned-gods.

Do you think it's possible to like BG3 while not liking any of the companions? Like would the game still be good even if I purposefully excluded them from my party (assuming that's possible) and didn't interact with them beyond what's required by the story? It seems like that's one of the things people praise about the game the most, but in all gameplay I've seen they come across as really unpleasant. Probably haven't seen them all but at least the "popular" ones that presumably most people keep in their party seemm lik that, so Shadowheart, the vampire, the tiefling girl, the reddit wizard.
>>
>>555633989

If the thing that makes you think they are unpleasant is that they're confrontative, abrasive and mean, they'll probably end up growing on you, because they get better on that aspect as the game progresses and the reasons why they were being unpleasant get revealed. It's one of those "band of misfits grows to become family of true companions and mature through their connections to each other (and by each other I mean you)" style of party.
If you just simply don't like their personalities, then they'll never grown on you, and honestly you'll be missing about... I wanna say, 40% of the narrative draw of the game? The party is very important here is what I'm trying to say.

'Eat of my bounty!' She urged.
She pressed her bitter mouth to my ear, and her clawed hand to my loin.
'Take your pleasure!' She whispered.
Her tongue dripped poison into my mouth.
'Be quenched!' She cried.
The Harpers near victory, our fates are writ.
Dark Goddess, we partake as you charged.

Our loins and lips, let us ravish!
Of this poison, let us drink!

5e Monks used to have a high level feature where no matter how old they got they'd always be spry and they no longer need to eat or drink like kung fu movie old man masters, but that was removed in the 2024 update.
I thought it was pretty useless but fun flavor like the Druid's high level feature where they age ten times slower, but they removed it in the rules update.

The prison system in the grove is primitive but done by mutual agreement of the rightful inhabitants (being arrested by a tiefling or druid leads to the same prison), murdering guards is murderhoboing and not paladin-y at all, you should be an oathbreaker desu.
The real oath of the crown weirdness comes from the oath getting broken by siding with tieflings against the goblins in the grove raid as those actually are outlaws coming to murder the grove's owners.

>The developer explained that there are “a lot of developers abusing the Early Access model” out there, “but games like BG3 would probably never get made if it wouldn’t be for Early Access”.
Mahler explained that games like Baldur’s Gate 3 are “just too inherently complex and there needs to be a dedicated community that gives it a shot early on in order for the developers to work with that data”. As we’ve seen with Larian’s very extensive posts that tell us how many times players have rejected Gale, there’s heaps of data that players provide to developers, and that’s essential to making an even better experience.
>Larian Studios used Early Access numerous times before Baldur’s Gate 3; both Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Original Sin 2 made great use of the release structure to make core improvements. As expected, the studio’s next game—just titled Divinity—will also launch in Early Access with fans able to discuss issues with Larian during development.

>The prison system in the grove is primitive but done by mutual agreement of the rightful inhabitants
The stated mission of the Oath of the Crown being to uphold civilization to me implies not respecting the arbitrary and primitive laws of lesser tribes. You know, as to civilize them- though I see how such an imperialist approach would be looked down on by modern devs. Still, I would have expected the oath to favor siding against anyone who is not a strict urbanite, druids especially. I think I'll just stick to fighter, thanks.
Speaking of, any good ideas for a sword & board fighter, please?

>Primitive civilization is still civilization
Agree to disagree
>>
>>555691121
The goblin raiders aren't a civilization, they don't even have ownership of the selunite ruins they squat in and their ultimate boss Ketheric murdered the villagers of Moonhaven so all of them are destroyers of civilization. The BOAAL worshipping kuo-toa would count though.
>>
>>
>>555691382
A raiding civilization is still a civilization. They trade, have a sort of a hierarchy, a rudimentary tax system- it's as much a civilization as the druid grove is, according to your standards at least. "Ownership" of the place they live in is a weird criterion, it's not like the druids have a land deed.

Is this platform involved in anything or just leftover from some scrapped puzzle? If I pull the lever will I be teleported to the Upper City?
>>
>>555694903
A band of mercenaries or slave soldiers isn't a civilization, the goblins are just goons for the true souls and Ketheric. The Cult of the Absolute on the other hand is a criminal plot based around a fraudulent goddess.
Paladins following Oath of the Crown also care about defending civilization from ruin. If the grove was instead attacked by githyanki who are a far more "developed" society than some druid grove and have their own proper laws and a ruler, an oath of the crown paladin would be obliged to defend it anyway since the gith would destroy it, more advanced civilization destroying another is not upholding civilization. This is also why gith paladins are oath of conquest and not oath of the crown.

Is this enough to completely uncuck it?
>>
>>
>>
>>555696205
Well yes, the warrior class is not itself a civilization in the same way that a Viking raiding party is part of a civilization even if those individuals don't themselves form one. They definitely have a stronger claim to that term than a handful of hippies living in a commune, certainly a stronger one than a handful of refugees living in said commune and enacting their rudimentary justice outside of it, which I think is a strong example of the game mismanaging the situation. With regards to game mechanics, of course you're right, and I don't even mean to argue that goblins are a civilization, merely that druids and their tieflings certainly aren't either.
I mean for fuck's sake, it's in the name. If you wouldn't call druids "part of civilized society" they certainly are not a "civilization". Do they even trade? What, am I supposed to defend pigmies from missionaries as well?
>>
>>
>>555700216
If the missionaries were actually going to loot the pygmies stuff and kill them or came with randos claiming the pygmie's land for some kang then yes, definitely. Oath of Conquest is the oath you're looking for if you want to be a conquistador.
Absolute's goblins aren't a civilization even in a sense regular goblins are since they've been subsumed by a cult (and a paladin with oath of the crown is duty-bound to oppose subversive cults like the cult of the Absolute or cult of Bhaal). Regarding the grove, it wouldn't matter if the goblins were serving some evil king either since their aim is to destroy and loot the grove and kill the refugees, that is not upholding order or civilization which are the oath's core tenets. Any passable GM would just get you to take oath of conquest which you can't do in this game so just be an oathbreaker and RP the rest. Oath of Vengeance breaks oath if siding with the goblins since the goblins have wronged the grove by attacking it. And no, the gate attack doesn't count as righteous retaliation against Halsin and Aradin because they went into the temple without knowing Minthara and Razglin had brought a horde of goblins there, and the goblins attacked on sight without negotiating.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>555701013
>murder people who've arrested someone without breaking that oath?
1. They're not part of the Grove
2. Even if they were I doubt the Grove has laws regarding citizen's arrest
3. Even if they did, they were outside of the Grove and therefore its jurisdiction
4. Even if they weren't, Lae'zel hadn't commited any crime
Far as I'm concerned they're a bunch of fucking bandit refugees who've caged up my companion for no reason
>>555701321
Again, I concede everything regarding game mechanics and systems. In terms of everything else, I don't think you'd be required to obey the laws and rules of people you're in active conflict with.
>Regarding the grove, it wouldn't matter if the goblins were serving some evil king either since their aim is to destroy and loot the grove and kill the refugees, that is not upholding order or civilization which are the oath's core tenets
Again, I would just say that as far as I'm concerned neither is more civilized than the other and looting and killing is no more disorderly or civilized than bear fucking or whatever it is that those druids do. Certainly no more uncivilized or disorderly than the Tieflings who live there
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>555702560
You getting in active conflict with tieflings and druids (local authorities who invited you into the grove) because of criminality is oathbreaking for oath of the crown in the first place. You're supposed to uphold order too.
> I would just say that as far as I'm concerned neither is more civilized than the other and looting and killing is no more disorderly or civilized than bear fucking or whatever it is that those druids do. Certainly no more uncivilized or disorderly than the Tieflings who live there
As far as paladins go, oathbreakers and oath of conquest paladins might morally equate looting or killing with refugees living in a temporary shelter without (further) oathbreaking, but certainly not ancients/devotion/crown.
>>
>>
>>555703118
You break your oath if you attack the tiefling scouts who trapped Lae'zel because you don't know if Lae'zel committed a crime. It's a similar situation where you break your oath of devotion if you attack Anders (a servant of a devil) if you don't manage to confirm he is one beforehand.
>>
>>555704107
Goddamn dude I get it, I'd play oath of conquest if I had the chance, get off it. Much like the other anon, you ignore 80% of my points to fish for gotchas. It's fine though, you made some good point unlike him
>>
>>
>>555704576
This is arbitrary rigamarole. What, should your freeing Volo break your oath since you don't know whether he's in fact committed crimes against the goblins? Whenever you see two opposing sides in conflict you have to first conduct an investigation to see whether anyone involved is a wanted criminal? Not even a wanted criminal, but vaguely suspected of being one
Why would any character assume that the Tieflings are officers of the law, within their rights to arrest anyone? In fact, even if you did, you'd be wrong, since they aren't.

I don't know, that assumes that Bhaal is a "rational" deity but Orin took the Chosen title from Durge "fair and square" and Bhaal accepted her as Chosen.
You can't be an unhinged murder death cult and then be surprised that your followers do unhinged murder things, he also could've given Orin more direct orders to stay on target and not do crazy murder shit instead.

With Arabella? To establish her authority as a new Head Druid and be able to show mercy afterwards. You can learn all this by Detect Thought. Her viper keeping Arabella at gunpoint further complicates the matter as if the girl only does anything but stand still she bites. On top of that the viper only takes orders from Kagha who appears as somebody who wants to punish Arabella. If she had given a clear order the girl would be dead by now, but even without it the viper rightfully takes a "bite is the default course of action" stance on the matter.

The open-ended nature of Act 3 leading to decision paralysis is a real phenomenon and it gets worse once you reach the Lower City. The narrative starts to get crowded with multiple competing quests (including personal ones for the companions), helping allies (old and new), political matters, dealing with the squid, and so on. Ironically, a selfish murderhobo Dark Urge who only cares about themselves would probably have a fine time in Act 3. The perk of lacking a conscience.

>Swashbucklers don't really work with dual wielding, do they?
Correct in BG3. Swashbucklers already get a resource-less Bonus Action attack (Dirty Trick), which makes an off-hand attack mostly redundant.
>I just wanna be a dickass rogue shanking people with two hands.
You would be limited by the choice of weapons. Sneak Attack requires a finesse weapon, leaving Dancing Breeze as your best option. I don't really see the appeal, but you do you.
>>
>>
>>555800457
That's fine if you just consider the off-hand weapon mainly for its passive (a "stat stick"). You have the flexibility of using an off-hand weapon or a shield - a 1-level Fighter or Hexblade dip goes a long way here.

Because DOS2 gameplay was literally all about terrain effects to the point it was ridiculous. Hope they get rid of that shit to an extent, and I hope they reworked their armor systems too. The rest was fucking great.

Position your party in a way to protect all entrances to Isobel's room before initiating the convo with her. Shadowheart with Spirit Guardian works wonders as her bodyguard, especially if she's aided by the usual Radiant (and Reverberation) gear. So does Vigilance elixir on anybody without Alert to precede Marcus and the Horrors. In general a Cleric who can heal and protect Isobel and a somebody who can tank Marcus' hits and hopefully incapacitate him goes a long way. Jaheira can solo the lower floor herself, just focus on you and yours.

I never got the "block" in part 3, its fairly easy to feel more overwhelmed during act 1 for me, that's truly when the game is packed full of options you really can't refuse because they all give sweet precious XP.
Unless you're playing with mods that cap level at 20, by Act 3 the need to push yourself into every side quest should be gone, so actually I feel like the game opens up a lot more by that point:
a grand city full of new items, trinkets and gear for maxed out characters, almost all of the side quests are related to the companions so you can pick and choose the one you feel like completing.
If anything, Act 2 is the excpetion since it's pretty self contained, not may side quests and it's relatively short compared to Act 1 & 3

>See roleplaying as an aspect that helps you decide your build, your way of creating the character, and through combat you will begin to better understand not so much how the game works, but the mentality of your character. Roleplaying is not something as demanding as going on stage and playing an actor, it should be more natural, even if in such a large game, FOMO is around the corner.

Well, you're supposed to learn about the lamp by reading about in some journal in the first place, no?
Little tiny quests like this is why I love Act 3, so full of random stuff that rewards your exploration, but doesn't really punish players who dont want to mess around with stuff like this

>Well, you're supposed to learn about the lamp by reading about in some journal in the first place, no?
I licked both the Tower and the Vault clean and I haven't encountered that note, and I do read everything I can get my hands on! So I decided to look up where it's at and the case solved itself: I used the Weave Buttons in the Tower to get to the Vault instead of the offices. Those are the only non-public part of the whole building I haven't visited yet and why I had no clue about the lamp's magical abilities. Thanks for tip though, it was a good idea and I'll make sure to pay a visit there on my way out of the place!

Jaheira has a pretty good companion quest that's also a requirement for Minsc's recruitment. She also has surprisingly lot content outside of it, especially in the form of camp dialogue and environmental commentary. You can also visit her so-called house an wards, bring her to face old fellows and foes who usually react to her presence and so on. I think she even has a unique line or two with Orin! They obviously ran out of time with Minsc, so just make a conscious effort to get the most out of the little he offers.

I'd have disagreed a few hours ago before I actually respecced to Swashbuckler to try it out and found out that 1- Rakish Attack is way harder to actually apply than what it says on the instructions for some reason and 2- The only bonus action attack that actually deals decent damage is the disarming one, which turns out you can only actually do if they do have a weapon to disarm, so you fucking suck ass against animals, monsters, casters, or even humanoids that you already disarmed.
Soooo I'm already kinda over Swashbuckler, sadly. It sounds fucking awesome on paper, but in practice you feel like a Battlemaster that got castrated.

Posting a porn artist's picture of a female orc (we can drop the "half" prefix here) has nothing to do with the game or waifus in general. I know the meaning of words is constantly under attack, and everything is simultaneously based and cringe, peak and mid, kino and slop, but we ought to follow some standards at least. BG3 only has four waifus - Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Karlach, and Minthara - with every other "waifu" mention ranging from ironic shitposting to basic lust.
