You'd be surprised at how many neat little interactions there are in the game like that one encounter with the BOS larpers. You can point out with enough luck or int that its going to blow up or something and it does killing all of them.

Interesting. I like his new mods as rooster, but man I hate hearing ai voices. Personally I'd rather hear bad human voiceacting, but that's just my pet peeve.
>>
>>555866926
For me its more the technical aspect of voice acting in mods, like if I hear a weird echo, or mic popping and so on. If its just a poorly delivered line that can be annoying too but its far less annoying than poorly recorded audio.

I was looking around in the GECK and found that all vanilla animations in New Vegas (playidles) are listed there and you can make your character perform them. For fun or for screenshots. It's not a complete list, just the ones I'd consider "usable". I tried them ingame, some are self-explanatory, and to those less obvious, I added descriptions.
I compiled them mostly for myself, but they could be of use to you guys as well.

The interesting thing about these numbers is you know the NV numbers are from real exploration of the gameworld, DLCs, modding, actual fun content thats worth the replay and the Fallout 4 playthrough is probably just one or two runs with most of that playtime dedicated to settlement dollhouse building.

Agreed. Load up 400+ mods to turn 4 into a tacticool milsim-style survival game and just go nuts. I've always maintained that Shartfield had a decent skeleton buried under the slop, but everything they built up off those bones was bland slop. I keep hearing the Star Wars conversion mod is good

Still, I won't shit on it any harder than I have, like I said, I did play the shit out of it too, I'd just like to see more focus on the Fallout flavor and story/world building instead of dollhouses.

The difference between Skyrim and Fallout modding scene is comical you know
I wanted to install a new mod to expand a province in Skyrim today and I was met with so many different redoes of the city and all surrounding areas, each with millions of downloads just on Nexus alone. In fact there were so many mods that I actually got tired and had to stop for the day
In comparison over at Fallout you're lucky getting even a dozen mods of the main city in the game and one or two of the remaining ones (there's not even that many cities in the first place). With the most mods not even reaching a million downloads. It's honestly way easier to mod Fallout because of that, way less options to choose from so you don't get fatigued while modding the game
Not sure which scene I like the most to be honest

>The Khans and my boys the Boomers didn't do shit to deserve that.
Khans are a bunch of drug-dealing retards who refuse to change for the better.
Boomers don't get clapped if you ally with them.
The only real somewhat innocent victims are da Kings.
>>
>>555886836
Did you forget that even in F1 it was a major plot point that only a select few mutants are actually smart and the rest are retarded? It feels like people only remember Lieutenant and assume that the rest of muties was the same.
>>
>>555887181
>Khans are a bunch of drug-dealing retards who refuse to change for the better
You a square? Nothing immoral or unethical about selling drugs. Only if you force it on people, that is.
>The only real somewhat innocent victims are da Kings
The Kings only get dicked by House if you arrange an alliance between the Kings and the NCR. If you keep things hostile between the Kings and the NCR, House rewards the Kings, which makes no sense. Why would he want Freeside (the place you have to cross to get into the strip) to be more dangerous?
>>
>>555887024
theres a lot less choice in the Fo4 scene but appearances can be deceiving a lot of stuff in Skyrim's section is just people reusing the same assets over and over among themselves.
I think the Skyrim scene is contracting

Kings keep Freeside somewhat safe. House is okay with leaving them alone.
If they ally with NCR, they are allying with a hostile faction that wants to topple House and take over Vegas. House is not okay with that and cleans them up before any further trouble can arise.

Also, the Khans are addiction-fueling, shit-throwing subhumans who's greatest value to the world was being assimilated into the Legion.
>>
>>555887906
The Kings don't know Mr. House was planning on taking over, though. I doubt the alliance was anything other than a mutual agreement to not mess with each other. I feel like this is just another instance of Obsidian making House less reasonable so that he didn't come across as the good ending.

>>555887678
>but the retarded Super Mutants were still civil
Because they were constantly tardwrangled by the select few smart ones and Nightkin were telepathically contacted by the Master himself.
East Coast supermutants have no leadership, no telepathic overlord and largely were just made as an experiment from whatever was at hand (compare it to Master's intentional selection and dipping into modified FEV). Even then, Fawkes and Uncle Leo show that it's possible for them to retain their intelligence and be morally good. In F4 we see Virgil, who is sane and smart despite being a supermutant, which once again showcases that it's mostly about the genetic quality of the person being infected.
>>
>>
>>
>>555888275
>Virgil, who is sane and smart despite being a supermutant, which once again showcases that it's mostly about the genetic quality of the person being infected.
Isn't it more to do with Virgil playing around with the Institute's super special FEV experiments?
>>
>>
>>
>>555888275
Yeah, but I'm arguing about the presentation and the creative decisions of Super Mutants in Bethesda Fallouts. They're just big raiders. Old Fallout (and I'm grouping NV with that label) did more interesting things with them.
>>
>>555888132
>I feel like this is just another instance of Obsidian making House less reasonable so that he didn't come across as the good ending.
On the contrary, coming down with a sledgehammer when someone can potentially seriously mess up his plans is a reasonably consistent trait of House's. He poured cement into the Vault 22 (the one on the Strip, I can never keep the numbers straight), he decides to eradicate Kings when they establish a partnership with NCR, he puts a surveillance over Primm if they get an NCR sheriff. He's not evil, but he's still rather ruthless and sometimes petty.
Kings being buddies with NCR may not be a true friendship, but that's still a large concession that allows NCR to have a foothold in and leverage over the entrance area of Vegas. And they are cunning and underhanded enough to use that if needed.
NCR and House are not friends, never were and never will be, and always try to fuck over eachother.
>>
>>555888393
Am I the only one that got really triggered at their handling of the super sledge?
>let's turn the rocket on and have no discernible propulsion acting on it
>let's have the rocket active all the time rather than only engaging it on the striking motion
>lmao why even bother having a trigger, the shit just stays on while nobody is holding it (again, also not even slightly moving the thing it's stuck into)
It somehow managed to trigger my /k/ tism despite not even being a gun
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>555888429
That's the reason he managed to develop a retrovirus to cure himself later. And even then it was basically a miracle that he can't hope to replicate.
>>555888759
In F3 they are fine as a looming horror that contributes to keeping the Capital Wasteland a complete shithole, and the current enemy of BoS. There is one Vault that they are coming from, and their reserves of "green stuff" are already running low. Supermutants are on the decline, and their profound mental retardation makes them look more pitiful. That's where the Enclave comes in, being the faction with biggest dick and completely upending the balance of power in CW by slapping everyone.
Of course, this narrative is undercut by the world map being too compact, so you stumble into muties way too often, even though lore wise their camps are not that common.
In F4, though, yeah. The entire supermutant plotline suffers immensely from Institute being a bunch of bipolar schizophrenics.
>>
>>
Playing through fo3 and actually having a lot of fun. Most of my memories are from early on so getting more into the game it's more and more fresh.

>The difference between Skyrim and Fallout modding scene
What's interesting is its the same engine isn't it? So it shouldn't be difficult to port certain things over, like hair/eye options or body meshes and textures or physics overhauls, yet that only happens a little bit.

Deadass Money is boring as fuck because it just takes zero brainpower to get through.

>Chips being rare? Nah dw bald lesbian will teach you how to craft them
>Ghost people are scary? Nah your energy gun disintegrates them, Dog eats them and basically their gimmick is worthless
>Confrontation with Elijah? You're so stacked on everything you can clap him faster than any dialogue from other people can play
Being able to steal gold bars is just cherry on top.
>>
>>555896093
its just too boring. The concept is good but it really is just going through narrow corridors after narrow corridors the way it ends up being.
I'm doing it on survival mode so there's the toxic atmosphere too but it just ends up adding to the tedium. I'm just surprised considering how good most of the rest of NV is.
>>
>>
>>
>>555897754
>The concept is good but it really is just going through narrow corridors after narrow corridors the way it ends up being
And there's nothing really interesting in said corridors either. No challenge, no actual danger. Fog cloud isn't a threat thanks to Dean, speakers are never a problem because you always immediately have the tools to disable them.
That's not to say that other DLCs are some peak hardcore challenge gaming, but they aren't trying to pretend to be a survival challenge like DM does.
>>
>>555898003
My favorite playthrough type is to use an alternate start mod and go on the Zion valley expedition as a caravan guard (Honest Hearts) to establish that as a backstory before becoming a courier. Later, after meeting Veronica and/or the BoS, going to the Sierra Madre makes sense (Dead Money).
Old World Blues is hard to fit into any kind of playthrough but in this alt start type I like to wait til after going through the main story a bit, at least to meet Mr House, so that a reputation is built up before meeting the Think Tank, and also because there are tie ins to the final DLC in OWB (technically in all of them but its strongest in OWB).
Finally Lonesome Road should be last, near the end of a playthrough, though it really feels like it should take place after the main game is done, which can be facilitated by a mod that allows continuing to play after the Dam battle.
>>
>>555898003
I usually roleplay it like this
>Arrive in Freeside, short on money
>Join the Zion caravan to get paid
>Return, go to the Strip, join House/NCR/Yasman
>Need to deal with BoS, make a detour to Dead Money while dealing with them/completing Veronica's quest
>OWB whenever during the whole Boomers/Khans/Strip casinos questline because curiosity
>Lonesome Road before finishing off all those quests because COURIER SIX BEAR BULL BEAR BULL
Of course, the issue is that I almost never use any of DLC armor or weapons because they just don't catch my fancy enough to speedrun for them. No idea how to rationalize from roleplaying perspective going OWB first just for the stealth suit, or diving into the Divide for riot gear/heavy guns.

I heard that fo4 and tesv both use the Creation Engine, but they have different physics systems, so you can't just port them. The T-Pose for clothing also differs. As for static meshes, obviously it can be done but that would be a violation of the rules

he's been on this anti-bethesda crusade since S2 of the show came out, basically saying shit left, right and center as a grift against bethesda (granted, bethesda has done a lot of bad) but it's to the point where he's going "bethesda would NEVER do this cool idea because bethesda sucks!" despite the fact that bethesda has already done the cool idea, because he can't look up basic things

They didn't do what he said. The Ghoul player in 76 is just the most vanilla and boring implementation they could imagine. Not shocking considering that's the entire game of 76: All rough edges and friction sanded down to nothing. Just wear silly outfits and hit bullet sponge retarded enemies.

Rapists are in the same vein as zombies or nazis, it's always morally correct to kill and not feel bad about. It gives the player an easy win when surrounded by the otherwise moral and intellectual mire that is the rest of New Vegas main quest when choosing between Legion, NCR, House or yes man.

The NCR. Everyone else is a grifter with no experience governing over Hoover Dam, and Yes Man ending is unstable. Every criticism of the NCR just boils down to >muh taxes >muh bureacracy >muh failed mojave campaign, yeah the first point is apparently a thing because NEETs hate the idea of paying taxes in real life, they hate the idea of committees (yeah they love tyranny from autocrats lmao), and they somehow think a group of orcs ran by a dying cancer patient or Fallout's version of Drumpf is any better.
The game literally tells you most people would prefer the NCR to Legion and in the TV show even the people in Freeside are excited to see the NCR again when Maxi strolls through in the power armor. Nobody wants to be crucified because they pronounced "Caesar" the CORRECT way.

I can't decide if I want Them's Good Eatin' because blood sausages don't scale with Survival. On one hand, I can leave Survival at 55 and rely on blood sausages. On the other hand, I could spend more skill points and save a perk point for something else.

No way, at least F3's story is sorta Fallout-ish even if it's retarded. F4's story could've been set in some other cyberpunk universe and would've made more sense. FNV is proof that F3 with a better story and writing would've been great

It was hated the right amount. Yeah it was technically impressive for a third party mod in a bethesda game but that's a tallest dwarf kind of deal. We're talking about a game that had people wowing because they managed to get vehicles working.
The issues with it were the linearity and the dogshit writing with weird fetish shit shoved in left and right. You know, the two things people actually like about New Vegas.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>555955495
The more time goes on the more I realise technical skill is actually somewhat commonplace. Like there's a reason a lot of coding gets outsourced to India, right?
What matters is having the good taste to know when your story beats and scene flow are awful, or when the content matter misses the demographic because the lead creators are huffing their own farts or have teenage fanfiction level writing skill.

There is a difference but at increasing levels of complexity it starts to matter less except at the failure points. A lot of the time it has to do with cheaper parts being used in manufacturing, most of those low level mechanics and engineers may as well be robots (and it seems they will be before long, with the advent of AI)
>>

wouldn't higher complexity directly correlate to more failure points? ie don't hire chinks for complex manufacturing

Whenever I've looked at a how its done video and its in some chinese factory full of specialists they're all doing menial technical stuff that requires a lot of practice but could and likely should just be replaced by robots, though admittedly I only dug into stuff regarding optics and glassware, maybe its different for other industries.

Personally it's my favorite of the DLCs. It has the best story by far and I like that it totally restricts your inventory going into it. The ghost people needing to get dismembered/disintegrated means the game doesn't feel the need to throw super high HP walls at you on the later levels

Limiting your inventory was great. I had a blast scavenging around for survival while trying to make the most of my build. I think it would be even better if I played at a lower level (the DLC recommended 20). My favorite aspect was the horroring atmosphere. The whole campaign felt like a cool mesh of Fallout and Resident Evil. It was a really refreshing get away from the Mojave.
I hope the last two DLC's are as kino.

hello
i'm a time traveler from year 2036
bethesda introduced "new" game mechanic in Fallout 5 - a car
you acquire it by completing a side quest
after that, you unlock big new questline, during which you
1)make a bunch of repairs that makes car run again
2)restore the original bodywork and interior
3)upgrade engine/fuel system/transmission/suspension
4)apply different mods to fit your playstyle
basically, imagine power armor game mechanic from Fallout 4, but much more advanced and difficult(but fun)

>And what's that exactly?
>He rigged the game.
>Fallout theme song starts playing
"Rigging the game" is associated with Benny more than House, and Benny is canonically dead. So that only leaves one person. I think if they were talking about House, they would've said that the House always wins, which is another catchphrase they used earlier in the show.
>Plus this whole thing was gearing up to pay him a visit and deliver him the diode.
The Courier did this but with the chip, in fact he was the first to walk inside the Lucky 38 and meet House in 200 years.
The reason I think they are canonizing the Courier is because the Veteran Ranger armor is iconic at this point, people think "Courier Six" when they look at it because it's the guy on the front. They had to make it power armor so it would be powerful enough to take on several 'claws too.

Especially all these ‘Modern Weapon Replacers’ crap, it makes the game simply unplayable terms of balance.
Seriously, stop posting this crap or update your list. Why the fuck would you use some ugly modern Jewish rocket launcher when there's a good mod that adds the rocket launcher from Fallout 3/NV?
>>
>>
>>555975881
Yeah, the reason killing them is considered "evil" is that it just makes them suffer while still leaving them trapped to be tormented by Braun indefinitely. He just got bored of Tranquility Lane, and they'll all be moved another sim after this one's done.
The failsafe is the mercy killing for the residents, as you said. Doing that leaves Braun trapped, alone, with no one to torment.

>>555976258
For some I'd say it's ok, Service Rifle being the best one, even if I'm not fond of that particular Service Rifle mod anymore. 10mm, Service Rifle, Minigun, Thompson are probably balanced. Even if they weren't you could always edit them yourself. Besides, not like Fallout 4 is all the balanced in terms of its guns anyways. After all, the fucking thompson was probably THE worst gun in the game

Finished playing through "Born to Lose" and its unfortunate the voice quality on it is so bad I almost abandoned it immediately.
The quest itself isn't bad, its not as long as some of the other ones from this author, though it also feels a little more whimsical (in a way which is more or less fitting for Fallout so its fine).
The cazador fight was a little tiring.
Overall I drop it to C-tier, if the voice-overs could be redone (at least for the main quest npc) I think I'd push it up to B.

Another review tonight, "Limited Edition".
Didn't think I'd get through two in one night but this one was very short. It is good though, story is okay, audio quality is very good for a mod (which is strange how the quality varies across the same author's mods so much), adds content to Searchlight as well which is sorely lacking in attention in NV.
A-tier because of technical quality, would be S if it were just a little bit longer and had some danger to it beyond what already exists at Searchlight, its very straightforward otherwise.
>>
>>
>>555997183
>adds content to Searchlight as well which is sorely lacking in attention in NV
We're some of its content originally cut? The caves surrounding Searchlight are all dead ends, and it's questlines feel like they end abruptly.

Probably too big of a project for anyone to want to tackle that ultimately wouldn't have a proportional impact. It would be great to tell Preston to shove it and turn the commonwealth into a mercenary state, but ultimately you're still working with the dogshit main quest.
Todd probably fucked the faction and reputation code anyways. Now that I think of it, did 4 even have a fucking reputation system beyond "complete X quest to get X rank"?

I mean, AR and AR2 exist.
>reputation
It doesn't technically exist, but in practice it is there. It's like you don't have any numbers in the menu, but you can ruin your relationship with all three factions just by shooting them in the face. It works a little strangely because you have to do it outside of dialogue. Many people think that a bunch of NPCs are immortal, but that's not the case. You can kill Bos at the police station, but you still need to talk to them first. And the Minutemen basically work like Yes Men and never get angry at you.
There is a good mod by bp42s that adds a little meat to this mechanic by adding reputation levels, perks for maximum positive and negative reputation, and hit squads

>The Railroad simply doesn't work as a major faction
Perhaps you're right. I think they were really going for a sort of political compass when it came to the factions (this was executed poorly compared to NV) and it probably was the only thing that made sense for libertarian left.

Every faction in Fallout is evil (except maybe the Followers of the Apocalypse but I'm also not as well read on their lore, so maybe them too?)
The only moral good allegiance in any Fallout game is an independent path guided by personal conscience.

Finally in the final quest run of Sonora. Honestly, in terms of quests and everything, probably the best classic Fallout game.
Going to have to do another run through tho because I can't speak spanish thus there is some entire southern city I can't even get into I think unless there is a spanish speaking companion I missed or you can somehow get in some other way.
I like in Sonora that ethical dilemma's actually are dilemmas this time around. The Dayglow area especially.

The Minutemen in Fallout 4 are a band of guerilla fighters that impose their "order" on territory they claim as their's, collecting tithes from local farmsteads across the Commonwealth and presumably pressing farmers into service. Their leaders are desperados loyal to an unelected supersoldier and war criminal thawed out of a mysterious cryopod built by a pre-war megacorporation.
OR they're a grassroots militia of local farmsteads that will dissolve once raider threats and threats from the BoS have evaporated, and therefore not a true faction.

I love reading Fallout Reddit as a former Trekkie, because it's amazing actually watching now how Tourists completely rip apart and destroy a setting, in the exact same way they did with my beloved Trek.
Fallout and Trek have been 2 of my fandom loves since literally the 1990s. Fallout 1 was one of the first PC games I ever had, and it's wild watching Fallout now fall to the same shit Trek did. tourists flooding in and turning the setting into a theme park, same terrible incoherent mystery box writing, characters just teleporting around over huge distances because time and space don't actually matter anymore, complete misunderstanding of basic lore and the setting, fandom gets completely annihilated by anti-Gatekeepers who attack any of the fans of the franchise who had actual fucking standards and enjoyed the classic Fallout story and setting.
Fallout will become Starfleet Academy tier, it will become complete and total fucking slop tier. Hell I won't be surprised if one day we have MR BEAST SURVIVE IN THE WASTELAND CHALLENGE SPONSORED BY BETHESDA and MTV 2000s tier dogshit Fallout themed reality shows filled with thots and normie retards why the fuck not.
My only fucking hope now is that someone picks up the mantle of Fallout and makes a good successor franchise. The issue is it seems the only people who actually get Fallout are fucking Russians.

Yeah, I have similar feelings except I've become apathetic to it. Star Wars too. You name it really, all fandoms have been turned to shit for a variety of reasons.

>The Minutemen in Fallout 4 are a band of guerilla fighters that impose their "order" on territory they claim as their's
You mean the farms who only join after you do them a favor or the abandoned buildings scattered around the commonwealth?
>collecting tithes from local farmsteads across the Commonwealth
That's the BoS
>and presumably pressing farmers into service
Outside of the fact the game just lets me say, "Yo, you're a minuteman guard now. Here's a sweet gun, some armor and a uniform." This isn't really represented in game and is pure speculation.
>Their leaders are desperados loyal to an unelected supersoldier
The only leaders were you the player, and I suppose maybe Preston; but he was at one time your only subordinate. All else is headcanon rp.
>war criminal
As big a fan I am of raking Canadians, Nate is only a war criminal in memes due to a dumb ass twitter post by a dumb ass writer.
>OR they're a grassroots militia of local farmsteads that will dissolve once raider threats and threats from the BoS have evaporated
That's speculation and depends on the SS. The Minutemen I set up are from a collection of independent city states and farms. Each city state has representation in Sanctuary (the new government's capital.) Including the towns I set up in Acadia, there are 13 voting member city states. They would then elect a new General (Commander-in-Chief and Head of State). So, if you can use your headcanon I get to use mine. I have succession plans, confederated republic of independent member states, a confederated army (each city has it's own city guards and such). They aren't a "true faction" because you have to make them into one and most people are lazy as fuck.
>>
>>556012948
Makes me think of how dirty they did Silent Hill and how Pyramid Head went from a deeply personal antagonist to mascot slop. Not sure why that's literally the first thing that comes to mind when I could've gone for LOTR, Star Wars, or basically anything else.
>>
>>556013528
Your headcanoned republic restricts the freedom of the average farmer by virtue of imposing taxes where before they were masters of their own fate, living freely off of the land.
>but my fictional government won't impose taxes nor enforce laws
Can't exist in practice except as a failed state
>>
>>
>>
>>556013873
The imposition of taxes in and of itself is not evil. And they don't pay taxes because the government makes it's money from tariffs by trading with the other independent settlements (Diamond City, Goodneighbor and the settlements of the Capital Wasteland. The minutemen allow farmers to grow surplus crops in peace since the threat of raiders, super muties, and ghouls is non-existent. They in turn then can sell that surplus to the cities or to whoever, they're autonomous. I also obviously allied with the BOS, so we have nothing to fear from them (as if my multitudes of artillery would allow them to do anything in their blimp lol). I convicted Danse not to die for stupid reasons and now he's the commander of my Power Armor Corp.
>What do you call it when the SS strolls into a settlement and steals everything not nailed to the ground, including entire buildings if the settlement builder allows them to?
Game mechanics. Show me one conversation of a settler objecting or joining the Minutemen unwillingly.

>Show me one conversation of a settler objecting or joining the Minutemen unwillingly.
Never thought about it like this before. I guess my settlers truly yearned for the distopian scrap workbenches and plantations
>>
>>556014469
>The imposition of taxes in and of itself is not evil.
You're assuming the farmsteads and "city states" consent to this rather than consenting to just gathering a militia for temporary protection.
>BoS alliance
Was this also done with the consent of all the various settlements in said republic? It seems like the kind of decision that may not sit well, especially since any alliance with the BoS will eventually require allowing the BoS unrestricted access to seize technology they deem necessary.
In both these examples the Minutemen republic will have to step in to enforce laws against those in its territory who may not be willing to part with their resources, what happens to them? Do they get exiled or does the BoS seize what it wants or what?
>>
Sarah dying between games was such a copout because they could have easily done a reversal of 3 and had Lyon's Pride be the Outcasts of 4 with trying to still be good and just as opposed to Maxon's retvrn to tradition stuff.

>>
>>

>>556014820
>You're assuming the farmsteads and "city states" consent to this rather than consenting to just gathering a militia for temporary protection.
They did consent. It's my headcanon, and I am unaware of any mods that allow settlement vs settlement civil war, though that would be sweet.
>Was this also done with the consent of all the various settlements in said republic
Nope. The ghoul colony (Sunshine Tidings Co-op) were the only no vote. But hey, that's democracy baby. Sometimes you have to deal with shit you don't want.
>does the BoS seize what it wants or what
Noope. They solely exist because I like them, but in my headcanon, Maxon is too pussy to lose his blimp and his life by trying to take Commonwealth Territory outside of the airstrip we allow them to have.
>>
>>556015006
>Sarah dying between games was such a copout
Nah, it was fine. Her dying means there's no one (no one with charisma and authority) left to oppose lil' Arthur's plans to fucking waste everything on building a blimp.
>>
>>
>>556015685
Your utopian vision of the Commonwealth is now making far too many leaps and assumptions to continue fitting reality (within Fallout's virtual universe), but it is your personal headcanon so it can be anything you want, though it seems contrived to evade realistic moral dilemmas.
>>
>>
>>556016152
Good thing it's all just a video game, then huh. Look broski, unc, lil-bro, I just want to build shanty towns. It's not that serious. Damn. Everything I told you about my game I just made up now outside of that I made a "House of Burgesses" in my Sanctuary because I thought the new government would naturally need a place to meet. All my settlements have Catholic churches too. Does that bug you, lil bro? Not real enough for you?
>>
>>556015867
Ah but what happens when a rapacious band of raiders settles next door to a settlement for the long term? The product of their violence eventually grows and assimilates into the raider band and soon its no longer a band of raiders, but a new tribe that masks its sins with stories of honor and "noble" victories against demonised enemies. Soon you have thriving city-states and less roving band of miscreants, soon there's civilization. At least if Bethesda weren't writing it.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>556017008
No, in the vanilla map, there's lots of places where raiders are obviously "settled" in for the long term as part of taking their territory, and sometimes its even within short distance of a player settlement. The big foundry comes to mind though I can't remember the name off the top of my head, Bethesda's design work just blends them all together.
>>
>>556017220
I can't rally think of any major ones. It's hard to say, everything is filled with garbage so it's hard to know how long anyone is anywhere. You're thinking of Saugus Ironworks, which is right next to Finch Farm. They kidnap the farmer's son and you have to go get his sword back (not his son, ironically). Interestingly enough, they aren't called "Raiders" they're clan is called the Forged. One of the few unique raider clans outside of Nuka-World.
>>
>>
>>
>>556017643
You family is a minor sacrifice when you consider that maybe these raiders settle down and become a new prosperous society. Don't tell me you wouldn't let your sister get raped to death for the good of the Wasteland.
>>
>>556017603
I could've sworn they had some terminal entries that described their stay in the area and some of the neighboring raider groups but its been a while.
Anyway, its still technically an example of it. Its weird they don't just take over the settlement entirely, they obviously have the numbers and it would probably result in a more stable supply of food and resources, as well as new recruits for expansion. Instead they're just a bunch of raiders squatting long term in a foundry.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>556017679
The Great Khans had settlements though (Bitter Springs, also that canyon later), even if they were more tribalistic and biker-gang-like. They're rarely violent unless prompted, they prefer to barter their illicit goods though will obviously hire out as mercenaries with few ethical qualms.
I thought the Vipers had a lot of lore that Obsidian kept trying to put in but it was always cut, which is why the end result is just generic raider spawns in some NV areas. It is an example of a bad design outcome from Obsidian but there's evidence more thought went into it rather than Bethesda's approach.

Most raiders that have their own location basically settled in them
For example the federal ration stockpile etc
They use the place as their headquarters while keeping their supplies by raiding near farms and traders
Here you can see most of those being described as [Leader]'s Gang

Except they can't prevent that (Powder Gangs still hit up NCR caravans in their ending and they're some of the weakest enemies, can't meaningfully deal with Fields without mailman's help either) and payment is treated as an obligation so if you don't, they'll probably just rob you. They're like a shitty mob protection racket. Rather just have the fucking bots.

They're the most disappointingly written because there's a lot of genuine potential for them, but no they're not the worst. I'm siding with the Railroad this playthrough and they suck even more balls. Most of the characters in the faction are completely insufferable and while their goals are noble they go about it in retarded ways (like mindwiping).
That being said, not even they are the worst. That title goes to the Minutemen. They're basically the Desert Rangers but worse with characters that demand shit from you for nothing in return. Every time I do the Concord quest I wonder why the fuck anyone would help them, they're literally just a narrative vehicle to get you to engage with the settlement system.

>What?
First Bethesda shitshow?
The last update for Fallout 3 in 2021 removed the GFWL shit that made Fallout 3 unplayable on modern versions of Windows. This had the adverse effect of rendering every mod reliant on the script extender incompatible because it broke FOSE (F3's version of SKSE). Since Fallout 3's modding community died sometime in the early 2010s and TTW had already became the most popular way to experience the game, nobody updated their mods.
So if you play Fallout 3 nowadays, you have three options.
>Downgrade to pre-patch Fallout 3 in order to use the FOSE mods, but crash every couple of hours
>Use current patch Fallout 3, but live without the script extender, with very minimal mod compatibility (the easiest option)
>Install TTW
Now you see why TTW mods are so common on Nexus while Fallout 3 is dead.

Honestly I know it's a strong healing perk, but taking it feels like cheating. Like why even bother cooking meals when you can grab sausages from everything you kill? If the perk was less overpowered, scaled with Survival, and restored a little hunger, I'd be fine with using it.
