I vaguely remember visiting a private server that a friend of mine was playing early on in WoW's life because his parents wouldn't pay for the sub. I don't remember what the NPCs were but the overall description is a match. They had taken the unfinished Hyjal map and turned it into a leveling road. Everything was horribly broken and they had all these custom NPCs sitting at the start.
I quickly went back to the real thing.

The overlapping buffs from different classes bothers me. Sure it makes building a raid much nicer but it feels weird. It takes away from class and spec identity. It is too much.
The current group finder in anniversary is much preferable to the dungeon finder.
Achievements are retarded but the extra mounts you could get from them were nice.
For the things I like, I think most specs have a nice sweet spot in complexity of play. Rotations are fun instead of tedious but also not too simple.

What are some notable changes from Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King that you like or dislike?
I want to hear them all, no matter how small or subjective.
Stuff like how your class's abilities looked or worked, the quality of quests, areas, raids, the systems in place, talents, professions, pets, holidays. I'm just looking to know as much of it as possible.
After almost 20 years, it's getting a bit hard to remember what was added when, and even harder to remember what I thought about it.
I've got a Wrath private server, and seeing the lack of Demon/Pet trainers, the streamlined ways certain abilities worked, and even stuff like Achievements and the Barber Shop just make me want to back it up to TBC instead. (don't ask why I picked Wrath in the first place. it's a long story)
I'm just looking to know if anything will make me go "welp, this was a mistake, shouldn't have left Wrath." or "yeah, this was a good idea to switch"
Like I said. Anything at all, no matter how minor or opinion based.

Last time around I had zero interest continuing to wrath after suffering through classic and tbc but after having played tbc again I realized that it kinda sucks in all the same ways as wrath does but it's more fun to raid on an individual level in wrath because specs are more fun to play. They both have the same linear dungeon design, same tedious quest zone design and flying mounts kill the world in both after people hit cap.

TBC is pretty great when you don't have a bunch of Vanilla elitists or Wrath babies telling you it's nasty.
If you like Classic and all it's grinding, then TBC is that cranked up to 11 (out of five)
If you like Wrath and all it's decently thought-out class design, then TBC is that, but without all the homogeneity that Wrath started.
Honestly though, I don't think it's possible to get a good server for TBC going ever again. Most people would want either Vanilla or Wrath for each end of that spectrum, not a lot in the middle. The few that are in the middle have been through so many launches and relaunches that if you're not ready to do the endgame raids by the end of week 4 you might as well just wait for the next server. No one slows down to do low level dungeons, no one wants to help a newbie learn the ropes or grind up rep if they can help it.
It's happened at least three separate times exactly like that with the Stormforge TBC servers.

you should be fine to start off late in TBC classic. The raids are post-nerf and the attunements won't be there the whole time. Era servers are going to be even worse.
It's as good a time as any to jump in. They didn't even do TBC era servers because more people preferred to go on to Wrath than stay raid-logging Sunwell.
Honestly, this is just my experience from all of these private servers that keep cropping up and dying way too quick. People are treating this like a race instead of a living world to just exist in. It almost makes sense because Blizzard is treating it like that with how many eras, seasons, anniversaries, and classics we're on at this point.
If they could make WoW into a seasonal game where every three months everyone is wiped back to square 1, they probably would. I mean, they can, but people are way too Sunk-Cost-Fallacy'd into their 20 year treasure hoard, so deleting it would also delete almost all of their core playerbase's motivation to log in.

plus, it's hard to take a break, or do something less optimal for the sake of fun when you so heavily rely on other players who are glad to leave you in the dust, and then essentially wall themselves off from the community by having their own group of 25 sweaties they've played with for 20 years to do content with.
Not to mention how these servers seem to live and die so quickly.
"Oh whoops, I took a few months off to go play some other games, and suddenly all my gear is trash, and no one's running the raids I need to catch up. Also the server is about to be wiped in three weeks, and we'll all have to start over from 1."
I'd say they need to take a hard line stance and just keep one server for each era and leave it at that, but we already know how quickly people get bored and leave if they don't have any time gated content to prepare for.
Modern players will demand a brand new server to do what they could easily do with an Alt.

Not him but Sunwell is great and actually makes all classes especially casters feel fun to play once you have enough haste and higher APM. Even if it's 1 button, a warlock with haste feels infinitely more satisfying than a warlock with none.
Sunwell is also a great raid itself and no other iteration of fury warrior is as fun as Sunwell BiS fwarrior with glaives.

It was when I started playing all those years ago, During TBC. It takes me and other casuals quite some time to get in a position where we can just raid log, for me it was the nights pugging Kara & Zul'aman, failing Gruul or Magtheridon with numerous random groups before finally getting Champion of the Naaru title. For once I'd like to achieve that milestone of completing Black Temple or god forbid Sunwell, then retaining those power increases instead of having the goal-post shifted with lvl 80 update.
Many reasons, also getting to play with my TBC sibling knowing it's both our starting point.

I wouldn't be surprised if mosque goers outnumber church goers in my country even if they're still quite the small minority in the overall population. I'm not even sure if there is a mosque in my city. If there is it's probably some small store front or business space converted into one.
WoW players certainly outnumber both though.

take current classic ERA, copy and paste it to a fresh start server and then that becomes classic+
Expand on vanilla without turning it into retoilet. No flying, no seasonal design, no power creep invalidating pre existing content.
Make bad specs viable NOT via a balance patch that adds no content but do it via AQ20 style class books, for example: paladins can learn taunt from a spell book that drops from the last boss of Razorfen downs. Same boss can drop a book for shadow priests and ele shaman that makes their spells cost less mana or whatever to make them viable. Another dungeons boss somewhere else drops a book that makes feral dps/druid tank more viable and so on.
New 2 boss mini raid at max level where each boss has a 50% chance of dropping a voucher that you can bring to an NPC to unlock dual spec (content instead of just buying with gold) Bosses can drop some other niche items, libram/totem/bag slot, maybe trinkets for specific specs where again this item works as a balance patch, example: Trinket x: increases nature damage and reduced cost of nature spells by x) - could also drop a new world buff thats something like increases outdoor mana/hp regen by x% for x hours, only beneficial to people leveling but still cool.
pvp changes: Warsong gulch now has a 15 minute timer -- new battleground added: battle for gillneas
AQ20: add a 1% drop mount to the last boss, aq40 bug mount usable outdoors
Add the raptor quest line in ungoro for horde, npc is already there but was never finished (horde version of winterspring tiger)
idk man I think that could be poggie woggies, just what came to me in 2 minutes as a vanilla only player.

Just add dampening holy shit it's not that complicated
The fact that TBC Anni doesn't have dampening is insane to me already
I like your other ideas.
To me Classic+ is a fullblown expansion with 3 planned raid tiers, no new level cap though. The tier sets should enable new playstyles.
