Dunno, I figured if they did really want to push sq42 out sometime in 2026. I'd imagine the wider marketing push should've started by now, and maybe they wanted to, but GTA's constant delays are throwing a wrench in their plans.

dude what the fuck have they done to the scythe, it's totally stripped of it's original character. moreover, they don't even look like that in game right now. are they doing mark 2s of hostile alien craft now?
>>

>>
>>2138944
That sucks. There should be a medium sized cargo ship, in the same segment as the cutlass, with good missile capacity and decent cargo (40+), even if it sucks at actual combat, just to clear turrets and allow bunker runners to easily loot hostile areas. Anything above S3 thunderballs is basically money lost.

>Anything above S3 thunderballs is basically money lost
Thats because the A1 is a failure of a ship. The player should pick how many interior bomb pods it could equip (freeing volume for those he rejects) and the pods could be either a single S5 or 2-3 S3. As a matter of fact the spirit line is a failure in its entirety because it has more side and front cross section than a fucking constellation.

I mean the redeemer is too but the tac seems better to use either alone or with one other person to do fps shit with.
Currently I use a msr with a medical ursa and it can be a struggle to load components into it at times.
>>
>>2139721
redeemer is smaller, TAC is a fat fuck.
For solo fps shit you have the clipper now I guess. But at the end of the day, use what tickles your fancy my man, I run the syulen despite how bad it is at its job while waiting for my railen which will probably get alien nerfed as usual
>>
>>2139724
It also got hit incredibly hard by the shield thing that cig did and it lacks cargo space.
I hadn't considered the clipper, I was thinking of getting a CCU to one anyway.
I just liked the fact that the tac has two med beds so me and a friend can fuck up repeatedly and also the cargo space would be nice.
You do make a good point about engineering but I honestly wouldn't be using it for ship combat, I have light fighters and other ships for that.
I'm just sick of how useless the redeemer is and how they consistently make it more useless.
>>
>>2139716
I'd turn it into an Asgard before a Tac. Asgard if you want a highly flexible daily driver since the Atlas chassis is getting a new variant next year that has a crafting station and Tier 2 medbed in it which fits inside an Asgard, or a Paladin if you want a gunboat since it packs almost the same amount of firepower as a Tac but you only need two people.
>>
>>2139732
You and me both, CiG hates the poor 'deemer for no reasons. For cargo + med bay I guess it's the best plans. For meds only I have no tried the apollo but to be fair, the thing is an oversized zeus with medbeds.
>>
>>2139738
Aside from the clipper I'm not sure what else would work but that ship has very limited cargo space and dies to a strong breeze.
I don't want straight medical for the ship though, I really want a cargo grid too for component looting.
>>
>>2139741
I still don't understand why some dropships don't have a basic med bed, it's not like the things are used. But so far, it seems that nursa + cargo ships is your best bet fren, where do you do your comp looting btw ? I just go around in a cutlass and rip derelict ship appart
>>
>>
Whats with the fucking crafting stations now? Whats this? Will the player in the future just loot guns/armor, place said guns in the crafting thing and improve them with resources or something? Or will it just print trash?
If its the later then the clipper makes no sense since it cant mine shit or even take a roc.
>>
>>2140239
>Whats with the fucking crafting stations now?
I think crafting stations need an output buffer inventory, and also the ability to print a box to put the crafted junk into, in case you want to avoid craft-wait-store NO NOT INSPECT ITEM YOU FUCK...Store item-craft-wait-store item tedium game loop.
>If its the later then the clipper makes no sense since it cant mine shit or even take a roc.
Clipper appears and feels like a pre-nerfed design based around carefully studied game physics interaction data, to make a retarded-on-purpose ship that is designed to be intentionally inconvenient to use for it's marketed purposes instead of designed like it was the optimum use of fictional theoretical construction resources and material design budget. Very non-Drake if you consider it.
Which would allow for Toyota T100 modularity if not intentionally diverse-tranny-body-pozzed-nerfed with dem metrics.
More (useless) engines/thrusters than Ben Quadrinaro's podracer from star wars episode 1 is a dead giveaway, and the retarded ramp that intentionally avoids fitting most vehicles.

Go for the TAC for PVE or generalist. It's more utilitarian. No fucking around with clown car "fit this in that" - nah it's got all the shit you need.
Go for a pally if you are just using it for bounty hunting or ship fights.
These niggas no nothing of engineering.
Coolers and component health are the biggest concerns when it comes to fires. The standard load out for the TAC is beefy. You should replace it with mil class A shit when you can, but what it starts with is alright, never use comp / stealth class shit in the TAC a ) they got low HP, b.) a tac isn't for hiding. You can also repair the TACs main hull by going in the fury bay with a 2 handed repair tool and shooting the ground with it. So your survivability even when blown up by npcs is still recoverable.
You get fires when your coolers get damaged. So in this case mil grade everything will be amazing.. in other ships.
Also fuck this nigger ass captcha change holy fucking shit 4 chan is dead to me cause I can't pass this shit

IMO it's a dedicated FPS transport and works well for that. I think the crafting is really gonna be for simple stuff like ammo, which probably takes a small amount of common resources that you can carry easily on the cargo grid, along with basic shit-tier ship components to get you out of a pinch or whatever. Maybe if you're roaming around collecting stuff you'll be able to find a new blueprint and be able to make it on the spot.
I think it'd be an amazing "premium starter" if it were priced like a starter, $150 makes it tough to swallow for anybody except us whales that have store credit and CCU chains floating around anyway though.

I agree with you on everything you have mentioned, but you do not actually discuss any of my substantial concerns about ignorance-in-design, which disregards the entire conceptual mythos of Drake ship designs in all the SC lore.
I wanted to avoid mocking the [retarded] price because I really know about whales in SC, and somehow don't hate all of them. That said, $45 Aurora starter ship crew LFG is the way to go get millions of credits for ""better"" ships that come equipped with Jump Drives as part of the stock loadout, instead of forcing a trip to a Gateway station galleria parts dealer and searching for the not-obvious "jump drives" category in the silly drop down menu that is not at all obvious for a new player even though salty bittervets liek me know this arcane SHIT innately.
By the way, you are stuck and can not move after using chat, and ONLY the chat still works on your keyboard, mobiglass is broken/frozen too.

I thought some of that should have been implicit in my reply, but to elaborate, yes it's obviously designed around limiting its usefulness outside of its primary use case, however within that use case I don't find it obstructive.
As for the more aesthetic and lore sides of it, I do agree that it feels somewhat "un-Drake," and I had the same impression myself when it launched. It's obviously made of Drake pieces but the overall design feels more like an alien ship from a culture with a very different design and aesthetic philosophy from humans, or something from a company like CNOU that's known for its unorthodox designs.

>designed to be intentionally inconvenient
Too many retards think Drake is supposed to be the "do everything" manufacturing line.
Drake stole most of their designs from Pyrotechnic Amalgamated; a mining and terraforming company that went bankrupt after investing themselves deep into Pyro. They're easily maintained, cheap, convenient, but not optimal.
Have you ever seen one of those China car accident videos wherein some guy brakes too hard and the entire cab of a sixteen wheeler gets folded into itself from the weight of a flatbed? That's Drake. It's not Toyota or whatever.

>They're easily maintained
Maybe the overcomplicated thruster arrays and non-symmetrical wing design with all those moving parts will somehow-someday be retconned into "additional redundancy" instead of the more likely failure mode of "spins out of control when one thruster gets damaged or worn out"
>China car accident videos wherein some guy
I saw a video where a tall and incompetently piloted Chinese crane collapses onto a new triple overpass highway interchange, collapsing everything and killing many people, after the crane's cargo turns up like 6 inches short of it's target load height, and the pilot traverses with the treads while above maximum load at maximum height.
> Pyrotechnic Amalgamated; a mining and terraforming company that went bankrupt after investing themselves deep into Pyro.
I continue to wonder how open fires inside those ruined abandoned stations keep on burning like that with no serious loss-of-lives disaster, since no NPC characters wear fire gear or space suits in there.
>wherein some guy brakes too hard and the entire cab of a sixteen wheeler gets folded into itself from the weight of a flatbed? That's Drake. It's not Toyota or whatever.
You are describing a loss of life caused by an incompetent driver with no training or licence or even any common sense to load a trailer, secure a load, of even, failing all those, ALSO failing to drive at a safe enough speed in order to avoid accidents with an unsafely loaded unsecured flatbed cargo trailer.
Also, a flatbed trailer without a reinforced forward stop and also without sufficient additional chains and straps to prevent the load from sliding forward
Also, those big trucks usually have 18 wheels in most parts of the world:
2 Steer, 4 Drive Wheels, with Dually (usually) Tires, and 4 pairs on trailer. = 18 wheels
> China car accident videos
The battery fire videos are the best, and they somehow NEVER place blame on the battery manufacturers.

>Drake stole most of their designs from Pyrotechnic Amalgamated
What's the source on this? It's not consistent with any of the lore I've ever seen about Drake, it's not at all what the official wiki says, and I can't find any other mention. The only lore I'm aware of is that the Cutlass was developed for a UEE contract, which it failed to win, and then was repurposed as a cheap, easy to replace ships for private militias, and after that Drake just started making ships for whatever they thought was an opening in the market.
That said, nothing about the Drake lore really explains the Clipper's design. The only explanation that makes any sense to me at all about it would be that it was designed to fit into a really specific hangar or pad size, one that doesn't currently exist in the game - though, actually, maybe it's sized to fit on one of the smaller Kraken pads? It does have a very small horizontal footprint (small enough to land on a vehicle pad) and the height doesn't matter there. It still doesn't explain the asymmetry and weird engine layout though.
>>
>>2140987
Actually, to add to this, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. The ramp and lift design on the Clipper would allow loading right into those doors on the Kraken, and somebody on Discord just pointed out to me that the Kraken's cargo tram is listed at the same 12SCU that the Clipper holds.

If there ever was a plan behind the ships, its long gone.
A lot of the unconcepted ships are just random things to do for the art team and/or art tests to new artists. They are also designed completely art-first with no consideration to gameplay - like the Clipper. However, I cant say that they ever designed ships gameplay first.

I think the clipper may be intended as a space drug boat, perfect for using warcriminally excessive numbers of expensive anti-boat missiles on, that far exceed the street value of the number of human/vanduul-lethal doses that it could possibly carry onboard. (Likely a bit more than 12 SCU if you can figure out how to jam the anti-box ladder "airlock" doors open)

Vulture Dying Star skin. It has the "Pyrotechnic Amalgamated" logo in the place of the Drake Planetary logo, while the rest of it is covered in graffiti.
PA went bankrupt in 2563 and Drake was founded in 2845. So it obviously wasn't a Drake design.
>>
>>2141401
>Vulture Dying Star skin
nta
So no in-lore reference then, just a single cash shop non-hex-code skin paint cosmetic.
Would be cool if true though.
Maybe PYAM went bankrupt because they actually paid their engineers since the Venture/Vulture design is only halfway retarded (no swappable mining head for mining rocks as easy as salvaging), and the Clipper represents the Drake limit of the nu-modern clone-goo-for-brains vehicle design engineers are capable of.
A resource and money stripping corporation that was evil enough to go bankrupt on purpose to avoid paying for superfund solar system cleanup surely must have been employing better ship designers all those in-game centuries ago than are available in the Backspace era of the in-universe present day, right?
Bonus lore points if PYAM also stole the retirement pensions of their engineers and employees, just like other well-known eras of....history.
> in the place of the Drake Planetary logo,
Drake Interplanetary is the full name of the company, minus any potential INC/concern/GmBH/etc corpo legal fiction pronouns.
I wonder if there are any other PYAM-original designs?
>Inb4 "Too bad the shiv gold and the cutlass steal." I already lament them for abandonment of modularity.
Even basic Stellaris-style Fore-Core-Stern modularity that does not go as far as Mechwarrior 2..3.4...MWO.5..MWLL...etc would be acceptable. Instead, we currently have.... fuses.
Monty Python and Douglas Adams.

I remember when "competition" grade components were the weakest and slowest ship parts in the entire game.
Quantum drives specifically.
It made no sense until I realized it must have been a nice old lingering Easter Egg from overworked underpaid game developers who have since moved on to employment offering "more" in the "competitive wages" statistic.
I wonder how many lines of code or smashed bugs it takes to buy a home these days? I feel like the answer would make me want to avoid game development as a profession.

Nice deduction and idea.
But sorry anon, vulture is based on vlt-3, a modified cutlass prototype in 2896, and reached the formfactor 2938 when it was launched.
Vulture and others having pyrotechnic skins is because the cig team doesnt care about authenticity.
How a splinter group of headhunters took over the precious stations of pyro. (And why only 19 years ago?)
Or how you can get much newer ships from the executive hangars than when the system was abandoned.
>>
>>
>>2142075
>Or how you can get much newer ships from the executive hangars than when the system was abandoned.

>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2142075
>>2142161
If you really want to try and come up with lore for it, maybe people (Rough & Ready?) occupying the ex-Pyrotech stations adopted the logo as their own and slapped it on the ship, or maybe somebody acquired the rights to the defunct name and tried to relaunch the company but failed and the PA-marked Vulture is a legacy of that.
>>
>>
>>2141474
>So no in-lore reference then, just a single cash shop non-hex-code skin paint cosmetic.

>Vulture and others having pyrotechnic skins is because the cig team doesnt care about authenticity.
Nta but this anon says it better than I could.
If there's no written lore to ignore or totally retcon from old hype articles and old forum posts on Internet Archive from the old forums, then it's just another cosmetic with some added spraypaint and not possibly any sort of lore reference, similar to "Big Benny's" vulture skin which could easily have replaced the Drake logo as well.
>inb4 no such skin exists
give it time... Hey maybe have some Eve Venture skins for it as well? Even though they all mostly suck compared to the stock paintjob.

Really enjoying the Connie having both of its powerplants taken out by the 1st missile or ballistic cannon that hits practically anywhere on the ship, hope no one else is having to deal with this garbage in other ships.

Im a big ship enjoyer, we tried ERT's on Perseus but it performed pretty much as expected.
However even as the engineering is "fine", the optimal thing is to go repair after each ERT/mission - So kinda like full ballistic corsair was.
Going to try the long red level patrols next time we get a chance. But maybe on a Polaris instead. Perseus wins 1 hammerhead and its escorts on a fight but barely. (pve)
>>
>>2142698
idk im talking literal 1st missile/shot after claiming the ship with 0 damage taken, I did like 8 patrols today and it happened in 6 of them (before I gave up when I realized pilots aren't carrying medals right now)
None of the medium/heavy fighters I have are having this issue, the only other large-ish ship I got a hold of to try was the TAC, and it was fine too, but the Connie was completely unplayable.
>>
>>
>>2142698
My group had 6 guys on a Polaris (pilot, eng, and 4 gunners) plus one in an F8 doing Intersec missions last night and it worked out pretty well, aside from the fucking audio bug making each of us crash every 30 mins or so. We never took any significant damage, but had some minor stuff that a couple of guys EVA'd out to fix between missions, which was pretty cool.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2142731
>Yeah, nothing like that happened to the perseus
Perseus has one of its power plants deep in the center of the ship so you can't snipe both without going through almost the entirety of its armor. Most other ships have their power plants immediately next to each other which means both get fragged at pretty much the same time.

Its most likely not the "staff" but the leadership. Its very common in UK in the history, eg. Molyneux. Leadership has absolute say and squeky wheels get replaced. While true asslickers have no limit to how high up they can get.
I mean Jared climbing the corporate ladder from a funnyman to having say which ships are revealed or even released is indicative that being on good graces of ((someone)) gets you promoted through nepotism rather than meritocracy or technocracy.

Thats the whole problem.

Its not CIG but it describes the issue that probably explains why PU, and SQ42 take so long.
Creatives make poor CEOs, and in the worst case they feel like they need to micromanage everything and that drivebydesign is helpful and not destructive.

Summarized by Glassdoor Slop Bots Technology Never Been Done Before Placeholder Chatbot
>What employees say about culture at Cloud Imperium Games
>Management & leadership — Reviews frequently highlight ineffective leadership, with micromanagement from the CEO and top executives leading to poor decision-making and low morale. Many employees express frustration with the lack of clear direction and the constant changes in project goals.
>Career & growth — Career advancement seems limited, with inconsistent promotion processes and little support for skill development. Many feel stuck, as opportunities for growth are minimal unless initiated independently.
>Work environment & culture — While the office atmosphere is generally positive, with social events and a supportive community, there is a significant disconnect between management and employees, leading to dissatisfaction and high turnover.
>Operational challenges — The company struggles with significant operational inefficiencies, including slow project development and poor inter-departmental communication, which hampers productivity and project completion.

>should i upgrade from the nomad to the clipper?
You ever cargo? Nomad beats clipper, and has a tractor beam and a drop-down pickup bed that can fit several vehicles.
Clipper can maybe fit a micro hoverbike with no shields. Very cramped and difficult cargo area by comparison, and more ladders than Nomad.
Nomad also has far better shields and durability, makes up for the one less S3 gun.
Mayyybe get a discounted CCU, or just wait for aUEC in-game availability.
Clipper is very very meh in functional statitistics versus a Nomad.
Clipper is also discussed earlier in this thread, pros and cons and slightly silly non-lore-accurate drake design, like "clone goo for brains" silly in some ways.
That said, I was never fond of Nomad's statistically epic hover landing gear, but thats a totally personal thing.
Hopefully Clipper is not the last ship from CIR with the Star Wars Imperial Shuttle front door.
>>
>>2145983
if you don't like ship combat I'd go with the clipper, otherwise I'd stick with the nomad. Clipper is a really really bad ship to dogfight in because of how massive and fragile it is but if you're really only interested in FPS oriented stuff then having the onboard crafter and medbed is worth it since you'll be able to respawn and print out replacement gear and it can fit 2 scu boxes which are perfect for stuffing looted gear into. Personally I'd go for a cutlass black if you want to do both ship combat and recreational activities like ground mining or FPS combat or a Shiv if you want to focus more on ship combat while still being able to do some light cargo hauling with 32SCU of cargo space and can fit smaller vehicles for FPS related activities.

dammit i saw the trailer and got fomo so bad. It looks so sexy too. But yeah all that impracticality seems like a toss. Also I just came across the avenger titan in the game and bought it since a rando player gave me a shitload of money. And I gotta say, the flying on it is WAY better than the nomad. I just wanted the nomad for the cargo and the comfy looking living space. I do want to keep it. But there's so many ships, perhaps I haven't found "the one" yet.
>>2146295
unsure what kind of gameplay i like yet. I will say on one of the missions I did, I ran into an aggressive ship for the first time, and had no idea how to shoot, so i ran away and practiced a bit. i went back and had a really fun dogfight on the nomad, it was fucking awesome!! I really enjoyed it. Even though I had no idea what I was doing, it was great. You guys both have me curious about the cutlass. I'm considering doing an upgrade, and perhaps buying a nice ship with the money I have.

My personal recommendation to everyone I talk to about Star Citizen is that you shouldn't pledge for anything more expensive than a Cutlass Black. Assuming you're getting a warbond starter pack at a discount the total cost of the starter pack + CCU to Cutlass black shouldn't exceed $120 which is the price of a modern AAA title and the Cutlass Black lets you experience most of what star citizen has to offer at the cheapest price. It does most ship combat missions, it has an extra turret so you can cram a friend in it for some multi-crew fun and extra firepower, it has plenty of cargo space and a tractor beam so you can do entry cargo or piracy. It fits all the small 1-2 person vehicles and some of the medium sized ones if you remove their tires first. It fits ground mining vehicles so you can even dip your toes into that profession.
Typically I just tell people to grab the cheapest starter pack and to ask in global chat to borrow a specific ship they want to fly. So long as you aren't asking for anything exotic or a capital class ship you should have no issue finding someone to give you one if you're willing to fly over to them.
>>
>>2146324
>>2146423
Imagine having a clipper. Shitty 50km bed, you need to park the massive brick next to where you are going since you cant really carry vehicles. so no bunker missions for you - atleast not comfy...
imagine instead Aliens - you drive your Nursa in the corsair, leave for the mission "in the pipe 5 by 5" - land, take the nursa out - drive it to the bunker..
>then find out bunker missions havent worked for months.

erkul.games
spviewer.eu
These web sites show very detailed statistics on all in-game ships, and ship parts, and guns, and most of the places where you can buy one for in-gmae credits (aUEC).
Dual-Joysticks, no matter how cheap, are a great addition to the game, just change the axis mappinge until it feels easy for your hands to fly and bust moves and fight.
As long as both sticks can be made to stay in one place while you yank on them, theres no need for expensive Virpils or Deskmounts.
Home Carpentry is a serious option if you can get free wood from a nearby contractor dumping his spare wood, or a construction site. Hand tools are cheap at garage sales or smaller non-sales-tax estate sales.
Just go with an aUEC in-game-purchase Cutlass Black and some kind of ballistic guns for right now, The top turret can have the energy repeaters removed, sometimes allows for more charges in the capacitor shot counter for the pilot, but only if you are using pilot energy weapons.
Shields have been changed up a bit, so old metas are a little outdated sometimes, hence the web sites up top.
Full server wipes are fairly rare now, and the "exploits" only enable people to happily roleplay as "Robin Hood" for people like you.
Get a job in chat, and be Crew for someone grinding shit in a capital ship,
Stay off of dickscord for the most part, and learn how to use the jankey ass laggy GravityGun and Med-Gun-BEAM to tow and fix up party members falling and going incapicated. Accept the millions in wages that are pennies to them exploiters and whales.
Exploits kill the retarded RMT trade quite effectively, in my opinion, but avoid saying "retard/retards" in chat in star citizen, or their automated ban bot will bite you for a chat ban, according to Anon in >>2144247
Corsair is also available for credits, and Deadbolt 4+5 ballistic cannons are sold at New Babbage "centermass" shop. It is a brick, but it has folding wings.

Corsair has some terrible injuries caused by lazy and rushed design process, it should have had an entire lower deck instead of a copilot isolation elevator, and better exterior access for internal components.
Corsair should have more windows everywhere.
Extra space for crafting and repair and refinery and non-pirate exploration shit if we drop a couple of bedrooms and replace with a bunk room up front.
Landing Gear should be a lot taller, as an "exploration" ship that should not need a perfect tarmac landing pad.
>wings too tall for low-skill pilots to manage in hangars
Git Gud.
Also, Zeus should fit Ursa inside with the wheels attached.
Super Annoying that arbitrary and disrespectful design choice was made without asking anybody in the community.
Pocket Ursa should be far more common and ubiquitous, and it should be able to maneuver and fly [slowly] in a zero gravity environment, just like the ATLS Power Loaders should.
EVA Thrusters should be EVERYWHERE, on EVERYTHING.
It's the only way to ever have a hope for ground vehicles to have any relevance or role in the game other than "NPC dies-easily fodder."
> ask in global chat to borrow a specific ship they want to fly.
So many chat beggars, and they often just hop servers after the donations slow down.
That is why I recommend joining a crew for a bit, crewing often pays fair and filters out the annoying serverhopping chatbot beggars who are just 5 million aUEC away from their third 890 Jump, Perseus, Polaris, or Hercules A2 Troll Bomber.
Some crews will totally stiff you, but since we are in "Exploit REEE Season" there are fair wages available if you put in the time.
Also, if you can care to, sign up to contribute to the bug reporting "issue council" on the RSI web site.

It's fine for any bunker or similar that doesn't have turrets. It's vertically massive but has a very small ground footprint so you can squeeze it right up to bunkers between the cargo containers etc., as well as getting it into various other tricky spots. (Like pic related, between abandoned ships at Pyro cargo elevators.) The Corsair is also a much more expensive ship and is a lot bigger on the ground, which is more of a pain to deal with.
That said I don't think the clipper is a great only ship, much more of a tool in the arsenal for whales like me, and the price totally ruins it as a starter.
>>
>>2147317
>Merry Christmass to our fucking thread schizos.

>Also, Corsair wings like all useless ship parts can save you from a full-speed collision to planetary bodies and other things. They are surprisingly useful in this jank ass game.
That could be considered an exploit and some vocal and sensitive "ever-victimized" people who likely suffer from vaccine-induced cerebral injuries and heavy metal poisoning would call for your account to be seized and stolen away without a reeefund.
Using (endlessly) diverse game jank to cancel out any other bug, jankeyness, or timesink that ever exists or existed or will ever exist in the entire game SHOULD (not) BE BANNED.
>>2147444
>clipper...
>and the price totally ruins it as a starter.
Gotta say, if it was pledgepriced between $45 and $55 it would surely be tempting but they actually had to use a fake John Wick (who has no voicelines or story or decent, aside from suicidal ramp exit straight into crew-served gatling fire, gunplay scenes) to try to make that abortion seem "cool" which shits all over the historical romance of every traditional seaborne Clipper Ship from naval history.
And it does not even have float pontoons and side-door-access for landing in water, much less an actual above-waterline runabout bay to launch a rowboat or hoverbike out of.
I guess the clipper is what was needed to make the Intrepid seem like a well thought out and balanced design, since intrepid engines almost make sense even if the tiny useless glued-on forked tail fin makes no sense.
>>

>And a blessed and merry Christmar to you also, wing-exploit-anon.

Holiday Butcher Helmet has Christmas lights on it, by the way, but it's HUD crosshair is currently not working beause too many cunts like to exploit the best friendly anti-sniper helmet in the game.
>>
>>2147775
$45-55 wouldn't really make sense considering it's equipped way better than an Avenger even if you ignore the med bed and crafting (12SCU, 4xS3 guns, etc.) but it probably should've been in the $75-95 range with the Reliants and Nomad.
>>
>>2147800
Avenger Titan is $60+ now, isn't it?
>but it probably should've been in the $75-95 range with the Reliants and Nomad.
Argh, that hopefulness in me strikes again. You're right.
BUT there's no way the reliants match with their current pledgepoint with how they are have huge bodies and are terribly undershielded like the Clipper, and they all need a third rework.
>12SCU
that you can not insert or remove an 8SCU box into or from.
Also the Reliant Gilroy Gimbal should be able to mount S4 weapons, like the in-game item description says. It's even a bug in issue council since forever.
Reliant fell foul of the great up-gimballing.
>>
>>2147850
>that you can not insert or remove an 8SCU box into or from.
Yeah, or even a 4, but there are some decent-paying missions that are 10-12SCU with all 1 and 2 SCU boxes, like that 222k one from Stanton to Pyro, that it works well for.
Agreed about the Reliant, and I didn't even know about the gimbal situation, though I'm not surprised. I've always liked the Tana but it's massively overpriced for what it is.

Deadhead helmet, a bit teenage edgy skull helmet - however also one of the best looking helmets in the game has no ui whatsoever. and the latest jank patch makes the hair separate from the helmet, making it constantly show on screen, especially fun on ships since your head (FPS) doesnt turn on pilot chair it seems..

Most SC ships are designed around lore that doesn't really fit the current gameplay, they're made for an imaginary verse where people spend days or weeks away from stations/LZs and stuff, and where people use and live in a single ship for long periods.
The Guardian specifically (which I assume you're talking about) also isn't really a pure fighter, it's got a bunch of FPS features as well (lots of personal storage and gun racks etc.) so it's more of a general purpose merc/BH ship, in a way almost like a Cutter Rambler but with solid fighter capabilities. In lore you could imagine a Guardian pilot being hired to defend a mining operation or something long term and they'd need somewhere to sleep and store their gear etc., and being able to sleep in your own bed with all your stuff instead of having to set up a tent or whatever could be a big selling point.

I haven't really been able to play much since the update because I keep trying to get on during maintenance, but from my limited experiences I do like engineering. I don't think it's fully baked, and lots of ships seem like they're going to need to be updated, and most of all ship weapon (and armor, and shield, and HP) balance is going to need serious attention, but the basics seem good to me and it will make for a more interesting game overall imo.

Servers are mostly unfucked now. Also, p8 ar(multiple) acquired. Thanks for the tips, anons. I asked about the berserker helmet locations in chat to help out that other anon, but I just got ethot bants responses.
As for where I picked up the p8 ars, I did a blue card route in Ruin on the east side of the contested zone from entrance c. I needed a fuse to open a single door, but after that I was able to get a blue keycard and there were at least 6 open display weapon crates. No players

working as intended. mantis isn't an interdictor, it's strictly a support ship, there to do the netting while actual brawlers intimidate the target into giving up some goods. it should get fucked on it's own.
>>
>>
>>2156801
engineering introduces a huge amount of variability to combat. it's no longer just dps vs health attrition. in the current system, it's entirely plausible and acceptable that you knocked him down quick with a lucky shot. he might have done the same to you.
>>
>>2156898
I accept that and I do think thats great.
However I also think there should be a clear difference between industrial, racing, non-combat, combat and military ships. As I mentioned I would go as far as remove weapons from some ships - but whatever it is, a non-combat ship should have a lot of difficulty in winning a combat ship, and winning over a military ship should be extremely unlikely. And this goes by type- not size. Reclaimer is a massive ship but it should never "win" easily against a military ship of any size.
Mantis is a bit of a special case ofc since its meant to be killable to be able to escape the net. However the way its done now plays completely to griefer gameplay, as you will never kill it unless the griefers are braindead - which luckily they often are. I have managed to kill the mantis with a polaris torpedo afterall.
>>
>>2157222
There already are clear differences for the most part, as most ships Rhys aren't dedicated combat ships have noticeably less firepower, shielding, or maneuverability than comparably sized non-combat vessels. There are a handful of exceptions to this, especially in the Drake lineup (and the Connie), but I don't see anything wrong with that. Corsair and Clipper are significantly less maneuverable than true combat ships, and relatively fragile for their size to boot. They are ships built for a dangerous universe. They are armed explorers and traders, and if someone chooses to interdict them then they need to make a decision about whether it's worth the risk or if they want to go look for prey with less teeth instead.

Bros, I've been getting addicted to contested zones. I've been ganked and ganked so much now trying to collect keycards. It started as getting the p8 ar, but now I kinda wanna see the executive hangar through. I've been seeing a lot of fuckers in the zones though, compared to what I was seeing before.
What are your favorite pvp weapon loadouts?
For me, I've hit a sweet spot with:
>p4 ar or killshot - 30 mags (for bots)
>f55 - 10 mags (for players)
>frags
>medgun
>2 fuses
>2 medgun refills
>knife
>handheld tractor beam
I used to use smg's a lot but they always felt underpowered while burning through ammo. the f55 is really decent with the netcode sense it spews out 150 round mags.

IIRC they nerfed Pulverizer, however even then CIG has a policy: New = best.
So Pulverizer is probably still the best gun in the game.

I dont completely disagree - right now with engineering you might be right. But before engineering it was a bit rough, Light Fighters being the best ships in the game with the only competition coming from capital ships - anything in between was gimping yourself.
Also even if you and me might think thats good way to do it, CIG disagrees on a general note - any semblance to balancing that makes sense logically tends to be a coincidence if recent years is anything to go by.

I want to see some significant work done to comms and tactics.
We need a system that lets capital ships designate a commander and ships that can fly in formation on autopilot.
That way we can do fleet level mixed unit strategy, give orders, and coordinate repair/resupply/rearm at an organizational level.
Any capital ship should be able, plus maybe the Carrack and Drake equivalent but maybe not the 890J.

Yeah! You Want "Those Games," Right? So Here You Go! Now, Let's See You Clear Them! which is basically a puzzle pack of someone making real versions of the games you see in mobile game ads. I've finished all the games off except cash run which is boring.
Asider from that dipping my toe into some indie games I haven't played since Early Access like RAFT. Which is probably the most stressful of those games despite the cute artstyle due to the shark attacking your raft every five minutes. And the difficulty slider is an on/off rather than letting you make the shark attack at a slower rate.

QT is supposed to cap out at 20% lightspeed but ingame can hit 110% lightspeed. They've also said in the past that star systems are built 1:10 scale. Added together you wind up with somewhere between 1:48 and 1:60 reduction for travel times, so if a QT jump takes 8 minutes ingame, in fluff it would take 7 or 8 hours.

Can we avoid discord/whatsapp/telegram/etc? Like there are 3 dozen OSS alternatives and someone is likely to have a server or hosted cloud instance somewhere, and somebody else is likely to be able to spin up a new server when one chat server app fails to be a good solution or becomes too difficult/broken to do the maybe needful updates.
Some solutions are even P2P if everyone is too cheap to dedicate a cheap linux computer box on their gigabit fiber connection for non-ORG group play, because some folks might want to group up but maybe not everyone wants to join a 4chan org.
The identity harvesting is really harsh on discord and many heavily marketed "popular" services, ripe for abuse with only x months of credit monitoring to be offered for the regular data breach notification so they can claim they "do not sell" your information.
Or if you do a yearslong billion dollar class-action lawsuit against a data leaking corporate entity you can maybe get a coupon for jack shit off your next purchase since lawyers don't need the money but take it anyway.

It's just an off-genre for me without gamer friends around. I will likely try it someday when I have more work-life balance.
Girlfriends killed off my IRL multiplayer gaming group by way of forced abandonment, and I never liked shitcord and parasocial relationships.
>>
>>2180556
Shitcord is just a tool. As for para-social i dont know if its finnish hands-off culture but for gaming specifically it feels pretty good. I do know some of the people i play with personally, but many or even most i dont.
Star citizen especially requires a special kind of person, even the guy who got me in to the game doesnt play anymore.
I think SC would be pretty damn good platform for some scifi roleplay. But to find such a group, especially one that wasnt full of extreme retards would be pretty improbable. I noticed one content creator had something like that but the content creator was a tranny so its pretty guaranteed to be a bad time.
But even without massive roleplaying, shit like the knights templar resonated with people and there was a lot of easily accessible memeworthy content to use and spread. Cathollic church and the templars was quite special. Not being religious just makes it stronger as you are not afraid of blasphemy.

Sadly it feels like most roleplay devolves into patreon machinima tubeslop in the present day.
>But to find such a group, especially one that wasnt full of extreme retards would be pretty improbable.
The trick is to avoid caring about getting doxxed, and just double down on your popular retardation, but without anger or strife or alarmism about bigotry or ism.
>I noticed one content creator had something like that but the content creator was a tranny so its pretty guaranteed to be a bad time.
Theres tons of trannies everywhere on the internet, the ones to avoid hardest are the pronouned ones who goon to their trannyflag, groom kids, shame on people for speaking respect for charlie kirk, hate on people who think Luigi Mangione did nothing wrong, always changing their politics based on their sponsorship and marching orders from the donor class, always distracting from any fun.
It's not just trannies, fags, and females, it's anyone who acts like that.
>But even without massive roleplaying, shit like the knights templar resonated
Protoss campaigns in the Starcraft franchise leaned on that archetype a whole lot, It's nice but I'm templarred out personally, too similar to 40K grimdark.
the Space King cartoon takes itself a bit less seriously, at least.

The phrase "spaghetti western" might be strongly remembered in America, but was named for Italy where it was really cheap/subsidized/taxbreaked to make films in that era.
The actual history of "the wild west" which all that is based on is quite rough, and getting shot in the back was the most common fate.

Many orgs have arisen and rotted already, though the game is 12+ years from release with no end in sight.
Frankly, roleplay seems like a waste of precious time away from wage work, but I'll give a few pointers, maybe this is a ranting shitpost, but I harbor no ill will and think well of Clint Eastwood and other actors he has tolerated working with.
1. Smuggling commodities, but gameplay is pretty shallow rn.
2. Shitposting edited roleplay poop to video sites, bonus if it's actually funny or anyone's got good voices or dialogue.
3. Not actually requiring official in-game guild membership (tough maybe but there's no org management shit ala Eve Online in SC.)
4. The mutual understanding that racism and nepotism can actually also victimize caucasian heterosexual people with male reproductive parts who really have no say over war policy because voting does nothing.
5. no discord EULA/TOS spyware shit
6. no spammer sperg retard rage shit
7. no excessive pronounism allowed, and the only exceptions should be humorous.
8. zero tolerance for sex flags or pedo flags or "rights" flags, regardless of who has tits or welfare NEETbux.
9. no fake tits.
10. Racial identity people who brag about their poo-flinging indo-chinky greatness or perpetual fake caustic victimhood or wakanda kangs, eye slam, or whatever else, should be encouraged to avoid sharing their tired shit, see rule 6.
11. no fat chicks, fat tits optional.
12. no tattoos, no body piercings, no injections, no genital mutilation.

The modern version of left/right diversion started after Occupy Wallstreet. It is probably tied to the motive why its being actively pushed every day too.

>The modern version of left/right diversion started after Occupy Wallstreet. It is probably tied to the motive why its being actively pushed every day too.
Occupy Wallstreet was the plebs revolting against the elite. Top-Down; a revolution.
The left-right paradigm divides and pitches the plebs against each other; a civil war.
A revolution, if successful, ends with the elite being replaced. While a civil war has the plebs bleeding each other dry, and at the end the elites are largely preserved with a few public figure being sacrificed and leaving the financiers untouched and possibly more wealthy.
A left-right struggle is far more preferable to the elites than an up-down one. Hence, identity politics and strategy of tension.
Theme? Roleplay is overall pretty gay in SC; it's a whole lot of people standing around, waiting around, and listening to people bloviate on their multi-crew ships.
Just have regular pick-up games and players always up for various shenanigans & PvE events. Keep conversations strictly game-related. Keep the personal shit personal, between willing individuals; vast majority of people don't want to hear you bitch about your work, your family, your politics, your obscene fetishes, or your mental illnesses.

>The modern version of left/right diversion started after Occupy Wallstreet. It is probably tied to the motive why its being actively pushed every day too.
After OWS got pepper sprayed while non-violent, beaten, and arrested, (certain) insufferable activist groups (on both sides i think) got panic-funding from the donor class to keep the actual discourse down, otherwise more people would talk with the other side like Charlie Kirk did.
2 days after he stepped on the political third rail when said third rail yoinked (their) funding, he got his neck pierced/bombed/whatever.
When it comes to OWS, one of the outworkings might be my opinion that Luigi did nothing wrong, if he even did anything at all, and he should be paid a bounty for his alleged service to the betterment of burgerland.
>I think this is the real way to go- or to be a content creator in the space.
Yes. Roleplaying devolves into navel gazing and one person laying claim to ALL the patreon donation money to keep their dream alive.
I am reminded of the burned out ex-players from the Space Engineers long-form roleplay video series crew, though I have no URL ready for reference.
>Yes, but these are more like common sense stuff. What the world forgot was that you are not supposed to entertain and join in on mentally ill people's delusions.
Or be threatened with jail or lethal MRNA injections for not worshipping them and offering up your virgin children to their pathetic castrated cause.

And I saw some quote attributed to this nappy hair Nu-Addison in a picrel loading screen news page (not published it seems) about "robust civil engagement" (somali learing center scams, anyone?) and quoted as: "you become the society you fund" like that's not gonna blow back horribly when the UEE-funded fairytale omnicidal skynet-hal9000 types file all non-brain-chip-infected life forms as marked for deletion.

The only change they made to the Vanguard Warden since launch isn't making the ramp easier to open, not fixing the doors in general that like to randomly reopen but to make the fixed chin gun mount have a3 degree upwards canting and showing down the velocity of the M7A so landing the alpha shot is a tremendous pain in the ass .

So I don't think anything is "worth it" right now. Otherwise yes/no depending on your aim; if you wanna just do it - go do it, its profitable. If you want to make max money; you need to mine Hathor. If you want to compare it to other income, not worth it.
>>

Currently no it's a neat gimmick but has no actual value. That may change a bit next patch since they're adding mining contracts to the game so that you can actually profit off it and they're planning on a crafting focused evocati next week which may further make it more valuable since mining exclusive resources may be required for various crafting recipes.

>Was wondering what’s the best way of making money?
Whatever gameplay you think is fun. Don't let it become a grind for credits or you'll stop enjoying it. Just do what you like.
With a Mustang Alpha, you can do the smallest courier/transport missions, probably some of the lowest threat ship bounties, and on-foot FPS combat missions. They all pay 20k-80k per job.
I wouldn't bother paying for an upgrade in the store until you've played more and have a much better idea of what you'd really want.
The economy is sort of busted right now, so you can probably beg in chat and get someone to send you enough money to buy whatever ship you want to try. As a solo player, you'll definitely want to stick to smaller stuff. I like the 325a, others like the Avenger Titan, but there are plenty of solid options that will be an upgrade from the Mustang. Just figure out what sort of gameplay you're after.

Even I who have not really even played this patch, still have over 20 million aUEC.
I'm in the new digg cmmunity you can find me there and send me a friend request on Spectrum, I will give you millions and you can get extra guns for the Mustang, or an Aurora and a Cutlass Black.
Bottom line is avoid spending extra, really.
All the negative sentiment about the forever development time, employee turnover, and DEI is mostly true, but it often gets dulled or outright deleted on reddit.
Still a fun game for me, and I hope they do better in the future.

>Tell me more about this:
on-foot FPS combat missions.
Search youtube for the recent OLP, ASD, Godzilla Sandworm (valley car worms, AKA valakkar), and "Vanduul Tech Smugglers" missions. Tons of gameplay footage and overviews already posted, walkthroughs are sometimes very helpful for these, since there are often many glitches and bugs to work around.
Lots of looting and shooting, NPCs sometimes act like hitscan John Wick and shoot through walls, Laser worms in the ASD depths, Alien Organ Smuggling, good family adventure thriller stuff like that.
>>
>>2193192
>on-foot FPS combat missions
At their simplest, people call them "bunker missions". You pull up the contracts menu, look in the "mercenary" section, and grab a contract about reinforcing or clearing out an abandoned outpost or whatever.
You fly there, park your ship - some of them are "friendly" locations and you can park right outside the front door, some of them are hostile and there are turrets so you'll have to come in low and either park out of range or use terrain as cover to get close and walk the rest of the way.
You walk in, shoot all the enemies to death, and leave. Easy as. Then there are the more complex types that >>2193212 mentions.

Is there a big difference in terms of loadout between fighting-oriented vs stealth-oriented?
>>
>>2193159
Exclusively in the game? Combat missions or hauling missions with the RAFT if you don't have a dedicated hauler yet. If you don't mind putting up with the additional effort in dealing with people and using a third-party website you can do FPS stuff in PVP zones like the Contested Zones and the ASD facilities and use the UEX marketplace to sell the high value items you find there to other players.
>>
>>
>>2193615
From a logistical standpoint, no there's not. From a practical standpoint yeah there's a few ships other ships you can still do pvp in even though they're less optimal than simply cramming more people into fighters.
Retaliator will be solid whenever they fix the bug involving ships with more than 2 shields, Paladin is very good against larger ships with a 2 person crew and great against fighters with a 4 person crew, Redeemer is pretty damn lethal again with the rework to ballistics and the multiple agility buffs but also suffers from the current bug with ships that have more than 2 shield generators. Hammerhead is a genuine menace when swapped to ballistics and fully crewed. These ships will lose in a forced engagement against good pilots in fighters who are able to control the tempo of the fight but assuming you're either fighting in a group with multiple ships or in a single ship and you're able to QT away whenever the fight starts looking bad then you can be a genuine threat and perform pretty well. Engineering and the ballistic rework has opened up quite a few extra ships to being playable assuming you can get the bodies needed into it since fighters can no longer disengage to undo any damage you deal since ballistics ignore shields and can now crit out components.

>mouse and keyboard
KBM is very viable - many of the top pilots are on it. The only peripheral that is near mandatory are pedals for rolling. VKB as a baseline. Don't bother with cheap Thrustmasters.
>Sabre
Great dueling ship but not meta at the moment due to ballistics.
>How do I fight, how do I learn to fight
In general:
High velocity weapons. Mantis gatlings (1600 m/s) in current build; CFs (1800 m/s) previously. Using Attritions (1000 m/s) is throwing every PvP fight in advance. Use the higher velocity weapons to land more hits.
Dogfighting heavily revolves around the pip, which represents relative motion between you and your target and is this affected by both you AND your opponents maneuvering. Don't fly like you're playing War Thunder. Strafe into (towards) the pip to bring it closer to the target (neutralizing) which reduces your relative angular momentum by vector marching. Don't hold W on a extended (non neutralized) pip or you'll just fly an egg shaped orbit and extend away. Hold fire until sub 1km, preferably sub 750m as cone fire *significantly* reduces the damage you do at range even though you'll be seeing hits.
Use roll to keep the pip in pitch (up/down). Fighters have significantly stronger pitch than yaw, so this will give you faster response.
>aiming
Aim with pitch and yaw less, and more with your strafes. Think of it like an FPS, where you may have your aim at head level and strafe R/L into a headshot.
>How to get out
Drop chaff (J), flip around back into the cloud while going to NAV, drive away fast.
>how do I learn
Practice in Arena Commander FF. If you're not discord adverse, the PVP community is really small and you can start with any of the major discords to find training. When I say small, it's like the same 300-500 people in 15 different discords.

No, not really, depending on your opponent.
If you're chasing a C2, then use whatever you want.
If you're fighting a serious org at Halthor (more rare than you'd think atm), the viable list is short and changed with engineering. Off the top of my head:
>Arrow
Current meta LF. Ballistics meta invalidates shields and Gladius is flying sloppily.
>Bucc
Small, high damage interceptor but high skill requirement for PvP.
>Hawk
Lots of buffs, tanky, and you don't have to worry about EMPing your friends because ballistics meta. Use CFs and EMP.
>Hornet
Tanky, relatively manueverable, high DPS.
>L-21 Wolf
Similar to Arrow - use the ballistics.
>Perseus
Useful in a team comp to counter the inevitable capital ship. High skill requirement to be able to effectively close and then fly a broadside orbit avoiding Idris guns while keeping both gunners on target to strip weapons.

Effective and fun PvP multicrew ship. Use the speed blade and learn to merge.

A new "brain trauma" game mechanic that was implemented in a somewhat broken state, and somehow completely defeated the purpose of shields on non-fighter ships trying to disengage from a one-sided fight, and in addition to the insult of losing your shields, you are blocked from firing countermeasures at all while in NAV mode.

Is the 325a at all viable or competitive for PvP, and if so, what sorts of maneuvers or techniques should I learn to make the most of it? I love it as a daily driver, but I've definitely struggled against other fighters in PvP fights with it. I can usually escape successfully once I lose a wing or something but I can't get kills in it.
If not, what should I pick up? I also have Super Hornet MKI and Buccaneer loaners (Corsair has been out forever, idk why I still have the bucc). I'd prefer something with a bed but I guess that's not a hard requirement since eventually the Liberator will come out and that'll be my "home base" that I can keep my fighter on.
I've also bought a Guardian MX and Vanguard Harbinger with AUEC.

>325a
Viable? Not really, but also yes? It's essentially a slightly worse Titan. In PU, the skill floor to be "good" is extremely low, so against an average player if you learn the basics? Yes. Interceptors are a particular style to fly though and are tough to use in 1v1s because of comparable lack of directional strafes that prevent effective deflections. If you want to fly a PvP interceptor, Buccaneer is the standard and is nasty in packs. Aim punch in the current build seems to really rock the Bucc around, though.
>who cares about directional strafes?
Learn to corkscrew as a basic defensive tactic and your survival rate in PU will skyrocket.
https://youtube.com/shorts/5Zi8uC3o7Fs?si=Sj6ZREPz2_ulMrBJ
>what to use instead?
Titan is a better 1:1 swap because it has better vital HP and can equip a speedblade. Arrow is an all around better choice for PvP. Once again, speed blade. Speed blades on everything that can equip them, as the benefits of a ~10m/a higher speedwall vastly outweigh the very minor loss of directional Gs.
>bed
The most competitive PU fighter with a bed? Uhhh... tough in current meta. Probably an Avenger Warlock. Banu Defender as a niche option if energy back on top. Guardians suffer from the same thing as all other heavies: too big and too slow. We just had an entire patch where F8s were nigh-invulnerable and despite that, they were still dogshit.

>my shields and countermeasures whilst I charge up
Drop chaff, hit NAV, double back into cloud. Fly away. NAVing out is OP and braindead easy. Missile tracking is so bad that there's no need to drop out of NAV for flares. Just corkscrew with forward thrust and max pitch/yaw in one direction - as in, pull your stick into one of the corners while you give max thrust forward. It's always hilarious when someone brags in global about how "you can't even kill me" when all they did was NAV out. It's literally that easy. If you want a non-compliant fight, you *must* have QED. In fact, it's mandatory in high end PU PvP org fights.
>metas change
Always do, but good pilots remain good. The biggest issues I see in inexperienced dogfighters are keeping their vector too stable, poor use of boost (too much/too little), firing at much too long of a range (1500m) and sloppy nose control instead of using strafes to bring the target to their crosshair.
>>
>>2194103
>QED
I remember we got jumped by 6 fighter in our 3-man polaris. After a while in desperation I boosted as hard as I could, turning away from the QED, then did a 180 turn and we fired a single torpedo, then turned around and boosted away again... Mantis instagibbed by torpedo and QT out with one last engine left.

Why is the ship weapon balance so all over the place? How do they weight the stats against one another to try and balance things internally, or is it just pure vibeshitters?
The lightstrikes are fun, but what the FUCK is with their power consumption? They're almost impossible to feasibly use on most ships because they draw double what the K&W repeaters do. Omniskys seem all around ok for PVE. S4 and S5 ballistic options are really limited and the velocity falls off a cliff after the difficult to obtain Breaknecks. Revenants are ok. There are no good S5 ballistic options at all, all too slow.

Ships can only have up to two shield generators enabled at once, any additional shield generators are "redundant" ones that activate whenever one of the active generators are destroyed. During the final PTU of 4.5 they made a change so that the shield pool is the entirety of all functional shield generators but that you'd only get the regeneration speed of the two powered shield generators however when this change went to live it reverted to the previous behavior of only allowing two shields at a time AND shield regeneration pips were based on total amount of power pip slots rather than the amount of power pips used. So having 6 size 2 shields meant it took 220s to recharge your 18k shields with 3 power points in shield but if you ripped out 4 of those shields it'd only take 73s to recharge your 18k shields with 3 power pips.
So basically any ship using more than 2 shields needs to rip out the extra redundant shields or suffer a large recharge penalty (300% longer recharge time for no benefit in the case of the Retaliator/Redeemer)

the reddit bots have no idea how to use the advanced control mapping interface.
supposedly there are free open-source programs to fiddle with the control config file directly, but third-party tools can be patch version dependent since new mappable/bindable functions can be added or renamed at any time, and the tool developer may end up needing to release an update of some sort.
/partyinviteand similar functions no longer work in the ~/` console and I hope those will be brought back.

I think the biggest issue with shields is that item classes are largely redundant and just amount to a few stat tweaks.
Shields shouldn't just be pool hp, regeneration, signal, the differences between Stealth, Civilian, and Military should be like weapon manufacturers in Borderlands.
Stealth shields should increase target lock distance and time as the shield internally deflects emissions to disrupt signal.
There should be deflector shields that effectively reduce penetration radius of weapon damage.
Quick boot shields should immediately enable if your ship gets interdicted and can't engage quantum.
Competition shields should alter the streamline of the ship in atmosphere allowing for higher speeds.
Military shields should have built in armor that reduces initial component damage.
So on and so forth. Give people a variety of benefits so being able to take more shields is a benefit than "Oops I guess my power pips are stupid high."
>>

>wanted to wait for release because all the important things already happened
That's cause 4.0 was actually release and we're playing a Live Service game. Imagine if "1.0" dropped in 2-3 years and new players had zero chance because they didn't play during the previous decade of the development. Monetized live service alpha let's them keep selling hopium while running events to keep players engaged.

>Hermes has 288 SCU cargo but the ramp is too narrow to carry an Ursa.
Why the fuck did they even make the Nursa if they're going to ruin half the ships in the game trying to block it?
The track mounted tractor beam on the Hermes is cool until you realize it doesn't go past the cargo ramp so it can only pick up things in a sixty degree arc directly behind the ship.
Why they gave it a moving tractor beam and not the RAFT which was specifically sold on being able to load and unload quickly who the fuck knows.

>The track mounted tractor beam on the Hermes is cool until you realize
That the sensitivity, fov, perspective and especially lag make using ship tractor beams for loading and unloading massively harder than maxlift/atls.

IMO the RSI Salvager ship should have been the Hermes,
What an insufferably tiny tiny tiny garage door that will not even fit an ursa minivan inside.
And not even any cargo drones to auto-load through the tiny cargo sphincter.

I would also like to know. I spent some time on the spectrum, and it looks like lots of people's inventories got wiped.

>Shill 4.6 to me. What's new?
Another new ship variant that does not share paints with it's medical classmate, and ursa still does not fit inside unless wheels get removed.

>Did they wipe everything?
Just the normal stuff that gets wiped, but plenty of inventory error complaints on reddit ATM, not just spectrum.
>Did they buff/nerf weapons?
Ballistics are the current meta AFAIK.
>Are there bugs that make playing not worth the time?
Always, but YMMV. Also there's a new turnin quest event that can thankfully share the progression points with your whole party.
>Titan power armor suit?!?!!!!111????//
Only ATLS IKTI from the godzilla worm sites and the wikelo grind.

i think it's frankly way crazier and rad in the more subdued format it takes where shadows are allowed to play across the surface and properly emphasize it being a very skully skull
all things considered and taken at face value, it's a much more opulent hologram than the other ruby rendition available as of now in playing it so straight

They implement toggled night vision while flying but only on some ships. The Aurora got a "gold standard" consisting of a foot locker under the bed, a gun rack under the cockpit, and component access in the most retarded places imaginable. Also they removed even more of its MFDs for fuck knows why.

>soooo i haven't played in like 3 years, does the game have an economy yet?
I wish I had a positive answer for you.
It's just more straight-to-flyable ships and cargo grind participation quests as usual.
Maybe the missing MFD screens will be put back into the gelded standard aurora, because 2 of them have been snipped off for no good reason. Maybe people care, maybe CIR doesn't, I don't know.
Also the new aurora mk1 ships have topside component access, with no ladder to get on top of the ship, if you are standing in gravity.
Your ship parts can catch fire now, and you need to carry a ship medic engineer repair beam gun now, and a fire extinguisher sometimes.
Ballistics are pretty much the current meta this patch due to penetration and component damage.
Ship TTK is vastly longer with energy weapons now, and Ship+FPS NPCs are generally they-never-miss accurate.

In other news, if you are doing the AA questlines, join a spectrum friend request invite-to-group-leader megagroup and share your own missions, and accept shares from everybody doing other missions, makes the grind only take all day, instead of all week.

CIG a mod named NightRider just banned me for talking truth in spectrum about how the support team DOES NOT help with anything. he threaten me with a ban AS i was typing what i was saying. why was he pre reading my message? a lot of questions but the best of all is why did random people in the chat NOT INVOLVED with me and the mod get banned for a day in spectrum? me? i understand, but i was bringing awareness to the gameabout the cheater in this video AND how they will ban people for selling ship parts or commenting wrong or something stupid. But KittyCartel gets to hack 9 months ago to present and not get banned? something not right with CIG
@LT-1928 10 minutes ago (edited) (OP)
This crazy, your not the 1st person to tell me CIG is handing out temp bans for reposting this, or talking about it on spectrum. This makes CIG look really bad. This is like the 3rd time I've heard this has happened. I was just trying to to bring light to the current cheating situation, sorry this happened to you.
