I like how no one got the memo that Pokemon is only putting out mid to shit sets now, but people are still hyping, over buying, over spending, and shilling. Its literally riding a dying wave from 2023 and everyone refuses to admit theyre late to the party.

Why are you buying these sets? The set identity sucks, theyre all over the place, just a mish mash and hodge podge pf different pokemon and concepts. The mega pokemon evolve from the middle stage, like how retarded is that, the original mega set didnt even do that. Whose paying for these? Do you really think they have actual value?

I think I've been collecting wrong all along
I thought I was smart buying cheap older cards 10 or so years ago but as I'm selling them I realize that I didn't really care for them
Even if my goal was just money I would have been better off investing in a few things rather than filling entire binders full of singles + I would have saved a ton of time (selling singles online SUCKS)
You really should buy cards you legitimately enjoy and disregard the entire speculation crap

Should I wait until more Ascended products release (namely the Elite Trainer Box) before I try to buy all the cards I need from the set?
I'm running the shopping wizard on Cardmarket and either way ('focus on prices' or 'focus on shipments') is more money that I was hoping to spend because there are no sellers that have all the cards I need, it's all scattered.

I open them and use them as my desk mat, I swap mats like once a week so that I cycle through my collection and get to see them but it’s not just pokemon mats, I got yugioh, digimon, and one piece mats as well. While yes the autism to keep things “pristine” is there I try to not let it effect me with mats. Having a nice mat on your desk can really lift the mood so I do suggest getting one.

when did tpc become so predictable with their sets? They all have at least the dark zard and stormy rayquaza sets, plus a shinies one (this one I can understand). That plus the base and dlc sets for each gen + remakes basically make up the entire generation of cards. The exception would be special sets like rumble, pogo, seasonal, anniversary, etc

Gen 7. Gen 6 did have Charizard and Rayquaza sets, but they can be excused for new Megas and ORAS and weren't exactly like the pattern Gen 7 set up. It may not be connected, but Gen 7 is also when the Japanese expansions started going crazy with the Enhanced and High Class Expansion subsets.
If it wasn't for the fact that we had such sets in every era between XY and now, I wouldn't mind them in this era partially for callbacks and partially for Rayquaza's importance in Mega Dimension.

I miss the days when they did something original to fill in the gaps between game releases. We haven't truly had that since Gen 6.

Scalpers are fully aware collectors like the fossil pokemon and tyrantrum and aurorus were hugely neglected because they were some of the last fossil mons to come out before sets became extremely thematically risk averse.
They got nothing for TWO GENERATIONS. The new ones will be scalped too despite the lack of rarity because normal people can’t buy packs anyways
