Mega Altaria and Hydriegon represent broken archetypes that aren’t easily powercrept. One is a 2 energy attacker for 130dmg loaded with broken support basics, and the other is effectively a 1 energy attacker for 130dmg. Hydriegon basically auto beats any deck that cant one shot it or tank the monster damage.

altaria's weakness is, in theory, bench sniping. the nature of the deck forces you to run a high number of basics, the vast majority of which are easy pickings for most snipe cards.
the issue with this is that bench sniping cards suck outside of greninja and the now barely playable decidueye, so altaria can just splash in greninja and beat snipe decks at their own game. it's truly a terribly designed card.

My response to this from last thread.

Realistically, the game can’t be fixed. There’s no mechanic, card, etc. that can solve the underling problems that are baked in. Which are all by design. It’s card collecting sim with a watered down version of the real tcg tucked inside. Devs put infinitely more effort into trying to get players to spend on packs than they do balancing anything at all. The reality is that the battling in the game is only a means for them to incentivize you paying for each new pack. Because, again, it’s by design that every new set has something totally broken that people will chase after that will win them more games. Even if something gets made in a set that counters something broken in the meta there will be something new that will dominate and the complaints will shift to that. This has been the norm since the very first set.

This has been the game’s cycle and it will continue to be this way until it just peters out and dies completely. Which, desu, feels like it’s already beginning. Thinking things will change after a year and a half into this I think is copium.

Tldr; Game can't be saved. This is just how it is and you can accept it or drop it altogether.

Hydregion wasn't completely busted until the popscicle showed up. It was good, but the deck being forced to rely on Indeedee healing meant it got bricked a lot of times on startup and made for really easy loss conditions if you could snipe Indeedee.

Now that Hydranigger decks have dropped everything but Absol, and they are trying to drop even M.Absol, the deck just wins easily. hell, I played against an all in hydregion deck once where the opponent was using silkscarf to recover hydregion/Deino and re-evolve the fucker using Zweilous. I would have lost that game if they managed to get the ball rolling and could cycle Deino evo's every turn, but they didn't quite have enough time.

I opened some packs for other shit I wanted as well like triumphant light and got a rainbow glaceon ex and did sea and sky to go for 2-star will which I got two of. Even got a 1-star shiny vaporeon.

Like others said it’s mainly just enables decks that want to dump their whole hand and combo off in 1-2 turns. The consistency of this has warped the meta to favor this kind of uninterative gameplay even more. Which is pretty shit considering the game was already too fast before that. that's just the nature of power creep. mewtwo, GA zard, GA pika, dialga, palkia, solgaleo, etc. were all solid decks at one point or another until power creep claimed them one by one.
that being said, utility crowns don't necessarily fare better in the long run. eevee bag is dead, mantyke is barely clinging to life in meme decks like slowbro, klefki lives solely in a single rogue deck that's one bad meta shift from ceasing to be playable, and lilligant, arboliva, and aegislash were dead on arrival.
it's kind of a crapshoot.

Thought this deck was going to be jank as fuck, but it's pretty good. Find myself actually getting down to 0 cards in deck so running 2 different stage 2 lines isn't nearly as much of an issue as I thought. Was struggling at first but realized I need to be leaning into Deceduleye more. Despite not having any grass energies, he's still the star of the show and everyone else are backup dancers. Which feels weird since you only carry one copy of him, but just believing in the heart of the cards and vomitting your entire hand out every turn works.

Goomy is funny as shit. Had a few players Leaf into Igglybuff/Chingling only to realize that they need a fucking energy just to use their baby move. So funny when they actually pause after the play and I can tell they're fucking confused and reading Goomy before ending their turn doing jack shit. It makes me wish there was a more consistent way to start with Goomy other than slotting another one in. Almost tempted to remove Maintenance for it because even though it feels like it should help you fish out cards faster combined with Hiking Trail, it feels like it requires too much to be useful. You'd need trash in your hand, and hiking trail, and even then it's not like it guarantees to fix your brick. But the deck is already so loaded up that there may be something better to slot in than a 2nd Goom...

yeah maintenance would probably be the card to replace, but there's not much you actually want in that slot. it's gotta be an item or tool, as a basic would be really bricky and there's not really any other supporters that fit an all-in bench snipe deck. maybe cape, maybe another x speed to shuffle goomy and oricorio around easier, maybe even a comm to dig for the mons you need. dunno.
