Kofe time.
Post watches in this watch thread.
Anything between $1 and $50000. Everyone is welcome even chinese watches. I love watches, you do too. Let's discuss and appreciate them.
This thread offers a forum to discuss and debate wristwatches, pocket watches, and clocks. Several members here are highly knowledgeable in specified areas of horology, so please contribute to the thread by asking questions and/or asking for advice if you are planning on purchasing a watch from an AD or the grey market. Please post pics of your watches here; it doesn't matter if it's worth 5$ or 50000$, because there might be someone who wishes to eventually purchase the same model that you own and would love to hear some real-world advice regarding ownership. The experience matters the most, not the price.

Thinking of doing a long-term review about the white birch ownership. Had it since 2023 and I think it's time.
Things that no one really talks about.
Maybe just a video of me talking about it for like 10 mins or so.

I haven’t. I’ve been to a couple of local jewelry stores with listed as Seiko luxe dealers and neither of them have had it. I may need to travel to Atlanta.
In other news I got a SPB117 that’s been great.

Sure you did. All this Seiko fellation is VERY organic.
In fact, I'm going to go get a new Alpinist tomorrow. It's that or the Samurai Black Prospex. Not sure. Just know I want to drop about $1k on a watch and it's going to be a Seiko.
Obviously.
Thanks, gang!

I scrolled through the previous thread, what ware those claims of no new pictures? It's clearly wrong. I post new pics all the time.
Also, I posted my voice at least 5 times over the years, maybe even more. Through that Catbox moe thingy.

Real life accuracy. How people react when they see it. How heavy it actually is. How it handled the beach. The lack of finishing in very specific parts. What the Zaratsu looks like after 3 years of daily usage. The double reflection from the dial to the top of the markers. And anything really that's not specs. It won't be a "A week on the wrist".
It's going to be a real raw review, not a specsheet.
>>
>>18638044
>All this Seiko fellation is VERY organic
Have you never been on ANY watch forum or anything like this?
Seiko circlejerks are everywhere. Reddit, WUS, small forums, youtube, everywhere.
Poorfags feel like they have a real watch and won't shut up about it.
If anything, it's surprising that the Seiko shilling isn't more prevalent here but I guess contrarians speak even louder than poorfags.

Proud to be a troll. That's fucking sad. That you have to not only settle for internet attention in lieu of the real thing, but that you're not interesting or clever enough to earn positive attention so you bait people into getting upset with you.
I pity your sad life. You must have real OCD issues to keep doing the same things over and over.
>>
>>
>>
>>18638122
You nailed it. That's how it feels. Because some people just don't want others to be happy. If someone is enjoying or excited for something the trolls have to try and ruin it.
I have slightly less sympathy for the snooty luxury watch people because A: it's "punching down" what they do, and B: they usually only have one super high end watch that makes them act like a snob. It's completely immature and rude when they call people "poor". But there's also the condescension as if it's an ignorance thing and a class thing as well as an economic thing. Like even if you can't afford Swiss shit, you should still study it, appreciate it, acknowledge it, and aspire to own it, because anything else is just garbage. I'll briefly humor someone saying that shit if they actually walk the walk and have an entire collection of badass luxury watches and deep knowledge. But no one who fits that description would ever be such a cunt to people. Just a bunch of bitter, jealous posers.
I think people should get whatever watches make them happy and not preach about how anyone is "doing it wrong".
But that's not going to happen.

/wt/ is somehow worse than other threads on other boards.
It's not even an avatarfag issue in itself, I'm used to avatarfags existing pretty much everywhere.
It's just the general toxicity towards pretty much all watches and all posters. You can't just have fun and be happy. You could say one can get used to it, but I am really tired. What's the point of getting used to something bad?
If we are being honest, 90% of watches are pretty good. They tell time, they don't break down easily, they look cool to the people who like them... seems like all is well, everyone wins.
But no, they all actually suck besides like 1 or 2 that a random guy personally approves of. It's really sad.
>>
>>18638167
>just go to /nawt/.
That was the point of /nawt/: to just give up /wt/ to the frenposters and form a thread where watches can be discussed. Sounds good in theory. But what happened? Bittercel and the other avatarfags didn’t like people leaving them so they shit up /nawt/ even worse than this thread. They can’t fucking control themselves.
They can’t start a discord because no one would join. We’ve already seen that.
They won’t just trip up because then everyone would filter them.
They’re not actually interested in watches anymore, they’re just interested in ruining a thread that didn’t tell them their latest purchase was based.
>>
>>18638157
It isn't just him. I've been bitching about it too. I've only been here a couple months and sorry I don't know everyone's name yet, but there's Grand Seiko guy, thin-wristed black Casio karaoke guy, and 'Kofe' guy, who I have personally watched go from the occasional post with a beverage to multiple times in every watch general recycling the same pictures. Or maybe they're all the same guy, maybe he's been doing it for years and I only witnessed a brief, uncharacteristically low-output. But it borders on spamming.
Why the fuck are you okay with it? I'm not some paranoid schiz who thinks "you must be him", but I also can't wrap my head around a third party defending it and pretending no one else is bothered. It's gotta be more than just me and the anon you're replying to. I don't believe you enjoy looking at it.
>>
>>
How can you guys be general posters and still be upset at resident anons? It's like I'm in /vg/ circa 2012 and anons are getting mad about people posting their characters. Where do you think you are? This is more of a clique than a forum, and that's fine. If you want something more "public" with less repeat posters, you can go to r/watches or something.

BECAUSE THEY'RE POSTING THE SAME EXACT PHOTOS NOT EVEN FROM CURRENT YEAR OVER AND OVER
Quit acting like it's just part of the tradition of a tight-knit community. This is not that. You're giving way too much lore and power to these fucking trolls. At this point I'm sure you're one of them. You think this is how the board works. You think it's endearing; your "calling card".

Look man, I'm not versed in the lore of your general because I get into watches off and on every couple years, but 4chan is my primary media consumption site and every single board that has a reoccurring thread or general for something is the same. People do these things and people like you complain about them, but the nature of these places doesn't change and won't change. The only thing that can change is your reaction to it and acceptance of it for what it is. It's not going to change, I don't think it should either. If you don't like it, there are other places that more align with your preferences. Why should it be the responsibility of people who do enjoy this place to stop doing what they like for the people who don't enjoy it? If you don't enjoy it, just go. Why stay?
>>
>>
>>18638211
No one, and I do mean NO ONE needs to change what they do and how they behave in order to accomodate avatards, trips and spammer.
You are correct, what changes is our reaction and it's a shame that these fags who so clearly belong on reddit aren't shunned as hard as they used to.

You are actually paranoid lmao. I'm the guy dipping his toes into more expensive pieces now, buying this green PRX most recently. Last time I was here was years ago when I wanted to get a SARB033, was too expensive, and got recommended a SUR311, and called it good for a couple years until recently. You need to take a break if you're this worked up and personally invested to this degree in a negative way.

Why don't you post your watches? I don't think people care as much as you when it comes to seeing new photos of the same watches. If you like something, share it. I don't mind, I like watches and getting testimony from long-term ownership. It's the hardest kind of feedback to find so if something holds your attention like >>18638285 has for him, then feel free to share.
>>
>>
>>18638311
>Why don't you post your watches?
No one has asked any question that would be answered by me posting any of my watches. No sense in posting pointless pictures without reason. It’s just going to make the poorfags bitter and jealous.
>>
>>
>>18638316
Nah. You post your way. I’ll post my way. If I can answer a question about one of my watches, I’ll post a picture. It’ll be a nice surprise for the thread. Something to break up the monotony of the years-old pics of the Cum-dial Citizen and Whoretadello’s shitters.

That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m only going to post my watches when posting them is relevant to the discussion. That’s how I choose to use the thread. Then you come after me for not posting my watches? Which is it? Can I post how I want or do I have to post how you say?
>>
>>
>>18638354
>>18638358
Actual DARVO behavior here. You're the ones shitting up the threads now, for every every person posting their watch again, there's dozens of posts from each of you arguing about it. That's what kills discussions, not a photo you can just scroll past and not engage with if it's not your thing.

>>18638370

When I ordered my cocktail time I didn't even know these cool secret clasps existed. Just looked like a regular leather strap to me. On one hand it's super simple and fits perfectly and is very clever. But on the other hand it's kind of a ruse. It's like a clip-on necktie in that regard.
I'm not complaining. It will last a lot longer as you're never really bending anything or dragging it through the clasp. Quite ingenious. I really feel I should have known every last detail of a watch that spendy before buying it though. Lousy research on my part.

I like the day/date on this one but if I had to make this purchase, I would probably feel like I overpaid for what I got if the duro is an option. I also just like the aesthetic choices of the duro's design more anyways.

There's really nothing to so with schizo tards like you. I can post the screenshot but EVERY time I do you cunts then double down and claim not only did I 'samefag', but then edited the image with software.
There's no winning.
You are an immature faggot and it doesn't matter what you believe.

They're very tightly regulated from the factory right? I assume yours shouldn't be more than 2 seconds off per day. It will always be a nice looking watch. Decent choice.

Sometimes yes. This isn't everything. The casio is missing.
About the video review on the white birch, I took a few one-takes but they ended up being 15minutes long. I'm getting better at this. Might soon upload it.

Treasure your watches and service them. They're a piece of Soul and history.
Every piece means something to someone, and to a few of us, it has changed our lives.
See you on monday.

Those are great. My dad wore one for years. Legible and the Indiglo is still one of the best things to ever hit watches IMO.
Can't go wrong with a $50 Timex. People say they tick too audibly, but that's part of the charm of them.
>>
>>18639407
Those are just too big and round. It's even worse when they pair them with 18mm bracelets, but that one doesn't look too narrow. Solar is always cool. I don't like that the 12 is lowered for that digital shit. I don't like ana/digi really myself. But I'd rather it were at the bottom.
Seiko just kind of bores me. Overpriced for what it is usually. What is that, $500 or more?

There’s a difference between discussing watches as a fashion accessory on a fashion board and a coordinated effort to spam the board and circlejerk. Same with the fragrance threads.
Notice how both watch and fragrance threads are the same posts about people dropping hundreds of dollars on a small trinket or a bottle of perfume. Both are also generals and bumped to limit all the time. Both also don’t require one to actually be into fashion. You could he a fat fuck rotting in a bedroom but still post said small trinkets over and over.
Maybe these threads should move to the finance board.

If I was forced to keep only one, I’d pick the Cartier. But really, they’re completely different watches. The Hermès is a 100m WR sports watch and the Cartier is an ultra-thin dress watch with like 30m. I probably have too many sports watches.

Yeah I hate the fact they put Bluetooth. Supposedly to change the watch configuration through phone, somehow admitting their watch buttons are insufferable, all the while the target market for these are tinfoil hat guys who want to move away from smartphones and also the bluetooth is exploitable
It's all a big fuck you
>>
>>18639665
Same. Admittedly, the app is easy and convenient to use. More so than the buttons on the watch, but if you have the phone…why do you need the watch in the first place?
For me, I don’t even care about multiband anymore. Even the most basic G-Shock doesn’t lose more than a second or two per month and it’s easy to re-sync with your PC’s clock on Daylight Saving Time days.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>18639651
>>18639665
>>18639666
Do you guys really need to be so negative about a feature?
The Bluetooth needs to be physically turned on for it to work. You can use it to sync time once per week if you don't want it to be connected the whole time.
It's still way more convenient than adjusting the seconds manually.
Also the app helps you adjust your settings easily. Casio's buttons are not very easy or straight-forward to use, that is a fact.
If you think someone will hack your watch through your phone just to mess with you, that is quite paranoid. Especially since you can just keep the watch's bluetooth turned off 99.9999% of the time anyway. Or you could keep it off 100% of the time, but then you don't get to reap the benefits of course.
Also, out of all the things that can be hacked and exploited, the fucking time on your watch should be the last of your worries.
>>
>>18639685
>Do you guys really need to be so negative about a feature?
We don’t need to be positive about it. It’s a thing we don’t like yet something we have to pay for since an otherwise-identical watch without the feature is unavailable.
It’s not like the people you quoted are having a meltdown. They’re offering criticism and their opinions. I think you’re seeing fighting where there’s none.
>>
>>18639687
It's nuts how badly people want to fight on the internet. Even the mildest criticism or dismissal is met with "why you hate bro? u mad? r u mad bro?"
The second I made my post I alt tabbed back into space marine 2 and sipped my bourbon. I don't give a single fuck about you or your wrong opinions.

>What Moser is that? Is it steel or precious metal?
Depending on the year it was made it’s either a Mayu or Endeavour Small Seconds. (They changed the name at some point in the early 2010’s)
It’s probably white gold but may be platinum or palladium.
It’s from the based pre-Meylan era of Moser when they made ridiculously good watches and lost money on every watch sold. Lange-tier finishing, innovative technology, everything.
Then the Meylan family took over and started cutting costs and turned the brand into a meme factory. They stopped doing only precious metals and started making cheap steel shitters.
If you look at one of the older ones side-by-side with a new one, it’s like night and day. The older ones were a steal for the price, the new ones are a ripoff.
>>
>>18639666
>don’t even care about multiband anymore
For me it's a must. I expect nothing less of a watch than to be fully autonomous and accurate. I hate the feeling of checking if a watch has the right time while it should be telling me the time not the other way around. I may have mild autism btw

2 minutes is the difference between life or death. Try staying under water for 2 minutes. Try being 2 minutes late at work repeatedly. Try missing your bus, train, airplane because you were 2 minutes late. 2 minutes is 120 mississipis (at least it used to be before time constriction was deployed by the elites) which is a big fucking deal
>>
>>18639733
>>18639734
It's not that you shouldn't give a fuck, it's that at some point you have to accept that there's always going to be error in anything you're measuring and any tool you're measuring with and just get along with your life. You could just as easily apply that logic to the atomic time system - why is the time they're telling you the actual time? Because they say so? What if it's actually not?
Does any of this matter if you still got to work on time? I used to be super autistic about tracking how much time my watches gain and lose using a watch app and try to keep exact up to the second time as much as I could, but at some point I realized that I'm just wearing out the keyless works on my watches for no good practical reason. It's not making me any more punctual or affecting my schedule at all if my watch is 4 seconds or even 4 minutes off. So now if I know my watch loses a few seconds a day I just set it 2 minutes fast and let it ride for a week or two until I swap it for something else. Even a watch that's off 30 seconds a day is still close enough to time 15 minutes for a coffee break or whatever. It's just not a big deal at all.
>>
>>18639736
But you're not going to be 2 minutes late knowing that your watch could be off by as much as 2 minutes. You should always try to be 5-10 minutes early regardless. When I'm late for work it's not because my watch was off, it's because I woke up late and got stuck behind a school bus and didn't make it through intersections before the lights turned red. The time my watch says had nothing to do with it.
>>

>>
>>
>>18639772
How accurate are we talking? just the usual average quartz vs the average mechanical? Because if we're talking casio vs rolex I'll take rolex every time, it's more than accurate enough to be practical and it's a better looking watch. My beater automatics are 10-30 seconds a day slow and I still prefer them to just wearing casios to work.
Again, it's really not that big of a deal and I live by that statement. I'm not just being contrarian or hipster or something. This is the way watches were for the last hundred years, you'd set your watch to whatever the clock in front of the bank or post office said on your way to work and not only did your watch drift off farther and farther day by day but you didn't even know for sure how accurate the bank clock was, but it was close enough to function day to day.

it's a get-angry-about-watches thread, not an actual watches thread. kind of like how /o/ is a get-angry-about-cars board, not an actual cars board.
