/fat/ - Fat loss general 02/03/26(Tue)09:23:40 No.77057265 Who is /fat/ for?
For sizeable swans who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/
>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).
>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html
>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I have been feeling like shit for the past few days. No pain or anything but a lot of fatigue, nausea, and bad stomach feelings. I'll try to last till the weekend but I might have to break the fast early if I keep feeling like this. But for some good news, I now need a belt or else I can't wear these pants.

Good luck. Remember that literally killing yourself on a long water fast somewhat defeats the purpose of doing it so you should probable lean towards eating sooner rather than later if things don't improve over the next day or two. 30 days is quite the achievement to begin with.

Hardly, when you go outside at these low temps you wear enough layers to stay warm, only the face and legs a bit might be a bit cold especially if windy. You can always wear a balaclava and thermal pants underneeth your pants or snow pants if its really cold. Point is you're not battling with your body crazy cold for 80 minutes like how long anon said.

As someone else who uses ChatGPT as a weightloss coach, it doesn't know how you cooked them nor does it know how big the chicken is.
I've messed about with thoes AI food loggers to see how it compares to manually tracking and its so far off becuase it can't account for oil used, weight or the actual ingredients.
How much meat was on the chicken? What veggies? How much oil? etc. ChatGPT won't account for any of them and just use generic ideas

Would eating at maintenance help me recover faster or should I just keep aiming for my protein goal (~150g) and maintain my deficit? For minimizing recovery speed, that is.
>go to doctor
I've gone to doctors before because this is a common injury for me when I try to start lifting or just from overexertion, they blow me off every time, at best prescribe an anti inflammatory which would actually reduce recovery speed.

If you are asking this, to calculate your TDEE or for Losertown, don't. The lightly active choice adds a stagering amount of burned calories which don't really add up to 10k steps. For me 10k steps adds about 400-500 kcals burned. Which is not in line with losertowns definition light exercise which adds depending on you weight somewhere from 600 to 700 kcals. Just remain at the lowest default and calculate from there. It will work out.

Its fine you ate at TDEE. You made no progress and you didn't fall back. I would agrue that the problem is actually that this is unplanned. While my own journey is still not complete. At the end of the month I will take 1 week to adjust from deficit to maintenance. I dont want to be on this board in a year. So to achieve that I have to learn how to sustain healthy eating habits at TDEE. Adjusting to that steadily is imo a more sustainable way to keep the weight off later.

Interesting study. Obese participants chewed their food less than the skinny participants, but when instructed to chew every bite 40 times they ate ~11% less. There seems to be evidence that chewing more triggers the stomach to produce appetite suppressing hormones. I actually never thought of chewing as a fatty habit that needed to be corrected, but I do still tend to inhale my food even when it's healthy and portion appropriate

Lower back pain has a lot of causes, lots of things can trigger it. If it's just from walking then it's probably because of weak lower back/core muscles. Try strengthening them by doing the McGill Big 3 exercises after warming up, they helped me a lot.

106.1kg
Starting weight 113.5 kg
Ngl bros. I don't trust the scale. This would mean I have lost around 1kg in 24h. I have had a meal in between and have done some significant exercise yesterday, but the drop seems like too much.
I know you're not suppose to move the scale, but die to the size of my bathroom, I don't really have a choice in the matter. I'll use my parents scale for a weekly weigh in. I want to be delighted, but it feels like its all off. Any advice?

1kg fluctuation is totally possible don't panic too much on the day to day - especially at your BW. Could be from salt retention, drinking water, not shitting, etc.
