The baker used a flame war instigating image again as usual to spread misinformation and to try and make Apple look bad. It never works though since the OP is uneducated and never had more than 2 flagships from different companies.
The image on the left pertains to all androids
The image on the right pertains to pixels.

I currently have a ROG 7 due to the fact that i hate the android OS setup that samsung has and that it has a larger battery. Any recommendations for a potential future replacement?

What do you need snapdragon for when the current gen overheats?
You're not using AI shit on a custom ROM to warrant that horse power either. The problem is the device price but with the current market all smartphones will be that expensive now.
>>

Sir why the fuck would I buy a pixel 10 at this price when it plummets to $650+ regularly?
The chip is also mid range tier, I'm not paying extra for a fucking camera that leans on software to actually do a good job when the ROM I use does not use that software.

Thoughts? Mostly care about a good battery, general stability of the device (it not dying on me randomly), and lots of storage. Also no Chinesium custom OS hopefully and just stock android that I can debloat, wish these things had LineageOS support or something.
If I wasn't a peasant I'd just buy a flagship Samsung but it is what it is

Below 145mm height. My current Galaxy S10e is 142mm, and the majority of phones used to be even smaller than that just 10 years ago.
I don't think this is an unreasonable expectation at all, I feel like I'm going fucking crazy that GSMarena is returning no actual results other than a few weird rugged armor phones.
Picrel is with NO filters other than <145mm and 2024-2025 release.

The specs and such already leaked. It's just the S25U with a newer design, private screen featured and Gen 5.
The battery will most likely be the same, or 5400mah. Don't expect anything more than that.
I've read online Samsung plans to move on to newer battery tech for their S27 lineup but I wouldn't gamble on that.
If you don't care about OneUI, spen, and longer software support I say go with the Oneplus 15.

>>

Apple counts a 20 to 80 charge as 0.6 cycles on their counter. Fucking retards. AccuBattery on Android properly counts it as 0.2 cycles.
At this rate, charging every day, I'm gonna be at 200 cycles by the end of this year... I wanted to keep it at 100% battery health and <200 cycles for 2 years then sell it like new. If it properly counted it as 0.2 cycles, 2 full years of usage ~700 days, would mean only ~150 cycles, but like this I might hit 500 and be at 90% health by the end and unable to get my investment money back.

>>
Do phones have built in overheat protection? Like I bought a poco f7 for endfield and other gaming, but it gets somewhat hot and I know that is normal.
What I am wonder tho is that will the phone prevent itself from getting too hot if I run with high enough settings and I don't need to worry about fucking up my phone because its too hot?

Without going into specifics, if you didn't root your phone to fuck with low level shit, it doesn't have some serious design flaw (like the infamous Poco X3 Pro), and you're not gaming on it in the desert sun, it won't die.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra if you want better cameras. Otherwise S26U is probably gping to be a pretty good device too. I'm also planning to get the S26U. The privacy screen seems like a great feature. If you don't have a ton of apps refreshing in the background then basically any phone can idle at least a day or two. See what your actual SoT is and that's a better estimate of what you need. I put a new battery in my S7 recently and since I pretty much never use it I can easily get a few days on one charge. 10 hours isn't a lot for any new phone.

i have a general android question. bought a samsung tablet and its got some issues that my samsung phone doesn't. im assuming its settings but dont know what anything is called. what is the thing that causes it to randomly zoom in and out on websites and how do i turn it off? im not talking about 2 fingers on screen spread or move closer together to zoom in and out. im talking about not touching the screen at all and its zooming in and out. it feels like camera is eyetracking or some other dumbass shit. its doing it when im not touching anything though my finger might be hovering above it.
the other problem is i cant figure out how to adjust touch sensitivity. i have a stylus i know works cause i use it with my phone. i have to push down really hard where think i might damage the tablet screen to get it to register. i could have sworn you used to be able to adjust how sensitive the screen is but i cant find it in settings. i just need to know what the correct term is to google it.

I’ve said this multiple times in this thread here in the USA teenagers working part-time jobs for minimum wage are able to afford brand new flagship smartphones Something that a teenager can afford via Flipping burgers is not a status symbol. You’re confusing the fact that I’m mentioning I post about both android and Apple devices in the thread because I own multiple flagships. I buy at least three new flagships every year and you guys don’t and you’re just very jealous and you make lies up about me because you can’t live like I do that’s my point. I’m not flexing like it’s something astronomically impossible for anyone to do. The value of that call plan is £15-20 a month
However, a £15 a month contract puts the phone price at £583 which is a stupidly cheap price. You can't even get an s25 Ultra for under £1000 new so even before the value of the call package it's cheaper.

I think it's worth waiting for the 17 but if you do want a new phone and if it's Apple you want to stick with, then the 16 Air is getting heavily discounted and a trade in with your old phone would be minimal cost for a new phone. If you want a change to Android then I'd either go OnePlus 15, a Fold 7 or depending on where you live in the world and confirmation of a Snapdragon or Exynos SOC, I'd wait for the S26U to come out.

Maybe a stupid question, but:
Can I trust a Xiaomi phone as a 'cold' wallet for crypto?
I don't want a hardware wallet, long story but I just don't. So as far as software goes, the gold standard wallet for a certain coin I have and want to get more of is a mobile app. Android/iOS only, no desktop versions.
I have a spare phone, a Xiaomi, bought last year. From their official website that they sell a lot of phones through in my first world cunt. Wasn't from AliExpress etc.
Recommended practice for this coin by its communities is either a hardware wallet, or the gold standard mobile app on a spare phone, off at all other times except when doing transactions, no other accounts of extra unnecessary apps going on on it. Just the bare minimum.
So my question: can I trust my spare Xiaomi phone for this? Or will CCP hackers steal my crypto as soon as I connect the device to the internet?
(Hard mode: please be helpful instead of just shitposting)

The stlyus senitivitys pissing me off more. Aparrently it went from a slider with multiple pressure to a simple on/off on settings. Its fucked up finger works fine but stylus doesnt. The stylus is jam it in you going to scratch this shit with it off to i think i might break it but atleast its writing with it on.

How do I check if I have inadvertently added extra viruses to my old iPhone six?
I want to transfer files over to my Ubuntu pc and I don’t want to bring malware or just viruses in general during the transfer.

Spent about a day messing with the pooco m7 pro
Debloated with canta WA's the first thing I did
The soc is decent but sadly mediakek
doesnt get hot but drops frames around the os, doesnt seem like it was really designed for 120hz screens.
Could just be hyperjeet os being a bloated piece of shit
Screen is OK. Just your basic 120hz chink oled.
Awkwardly big bezels at the corners though compared to the x7 pro and f7. They honestly should have just gone with 90 degree corners.
Plastic back is very pretty.
Camera is hardware or maybe os locked to 30fps for video but its the standard last gen budget 50mpx sensor with basic OIS
For context I'm interested in this phone because its currently the only phone you can get new with 512GB of UFS storage, a microsd slot and a headphone jack

Uh yes hello. I bought and am daily driving a Redmagic 11 pro chink slop phone after switching from my beloved Oneplus 7 pro.
Even though the phone has amazing hardware specs including an underscreen camera, headphone jack, toggle switch you can remap, huge screen etc, the software kind of sucks.
I apparently have an AI assistant fleshlight called Mora but last few phones she had a sexy voice and now she sounds like Siri so whatever.
Also it comes with 4 yes FOUR wall paper apps including one that I cannot remove or disable from the machine. Redmagic claims this app is "integrated at the system level and very important to the useage of the phone" so likely the app that is spying on my porn usage.
The underscreen camera is great except that you can clearly see it on mid tone greys of any color. However if you change the refresh rate from 144 to 90 it becomes essentially invisible.
So yeah. Great hardware, terrible software.
Otherwise a pretty good improvement. Feels amazing to have a headphone jack again.
Oh yeah the phones battery is gigantic and despite using it frequently I only charge it once every other day and it takes about 10 minutes to charge back to 80%.
Am I retarded or should I have bought the Sony Xperia?

The expat Indian sucking off iPhone as the crown jewel of not being poor convinced me not to buy it.
The level of shame I felt from possibly associating with someone like that at any level caused me physical pain.
So, Xiaomi or Pixel it is, leaning towards Pixel. Any opinions from anons?

Why are Mali GPUs such putrid dogshit bros?
Is it really that hard to follow the vulkan spec and open sores your shit?
I know queercom isn't much better on the latter issue but they have the benefit of years of reverse engineering.
There is really no way for arm/mediakek/mali to compete at this point.
>>
>>108020706
My main phone is still a pixel 7 pro simply because I'm too lazy to migrate 2 years worth of stuff but I very much reccomend the pooco F7**
*provided you unlock the bootloader and install crdroid or lineage.
You can't have gesture navigation with a third party launcher on pooco stock. Makes no fucking sense.
So now you're stuck with always on-screen buttons burning into your oled screen.
**if you have an unlocked bootloader on android you also have to have it rooted for spoofing reasons since google wallet and a lot of bank apps are complete faggots about this for no reason.
Not a big deal but you need to read up on it which involves a lot of pajeetslop on XDA
>>
>>108021017
That's a relief. I don't care much about cameras so it seems like the redmagic was a better choice. The only big issue with the redmagic is that the bootloader and rooting is locked so it's impossible to put a ROM on it. Apparently there are some dodgy people who will crack it for 200 USD in China but eh.

Why the fuck do proper screen protectors for phones not exist anymore?
I don’t need bullshit glass, which cracks if you just look at it funny, I don’t need “hydrogel” (whatever that even is) and I certainly don’t need some bullshit contraption, that certainly will make the result worse, to install said bullshit.
I just want a fucking display foil. Like, basic bitch, mid tier, clear plastic with a camera and sensor cutout, as I bought for all my previous phones in packs of 5 for 7€ or something, and always threw away 4 of them when the phone finally gave up after 5+ years because those covers just work.
Why does this not exist anymore?
Why does everyone insist on stupid, “premium”, glass which is worse in every way?

Make sure to properly apply a clean screen protector. You never want air bubbles or pubes like with pic related. It lowers the quality of what you see and it's also gross looking.

>plastic: absorbs impact, is soft, pops back into shape after impact, and if it’s a good plastic, it’s even harder than most everyday stuff, unless it’s knifes, rocks or sandpaper
>glass: is harder than most everyday stuff (yet still misteriously gets scratches, that according to Mohs scale it shouldn’t get) and thus shatters within a few weeks, only held together by the plastic layer it’s laminated to
Yeah, thanks. I’ll stick with plastic. >>108021823

It's a 10 year old phone you've been using 10 hours a day so yeah the battery has lost a ton of it's capacity by now.
Buy a newer iPhone. Get a basic 17. Or a 16pro which ever is cheaper. If you want to leave apple and get an android then most of the newer android phones have 7000mh+ batteries so you shouldn't have issues.

My phone updated and said I have the option for it to flag and block sensitive images in my text messages. I assume this means they are now monitoring and archiving everything that gets texted to and from me and will at some point decide they can moderate the subjects I'm "allowed" to talk about because "we made the phone so we can impose community standards on your speech"
Are there any third party SMS applications I can replace it with/are there any phones/OS where I can lock down the ability for it to update without my explicit permission?

The news is that they will have a working model at MWC Barcelona in March. Clicks is going to have a working model sometime March through June. Take the 5 updates on Unihertz with a pinch of salt. Stating that they are committed to updates doesn't mean they're committed to delivering them on time.

I need a good phone for my 2-month solo trip in Thailand. I’m currently using a Samshit A34 5G which doesn't have e-sim support so I'm looking to upgrade.
Between the Xiaomi 15U, Samsung S25 Ultra, and Honor Magic 8 Pro, which is the most reliable choice? I’ll be taking photos with the stock camera app and shooting videos with MotionCam. If I get good advise here, I'll post a $10 steam gift card

Guys, since the FAGMAN is now dead-set on enshittifying Android - what are the options to run just plain linux-based with workable compatibility layers?
I need a damn smartphone to install these pesky apps that are needed so often for so many very mundane things like public transit/banking/2FA/messaging etc. which can't be easily done on a PC or just isn't feasible.
Are there any non-android versions that have a compatibility good enough to run commercial apps (like banking apps, random insurance cuntpany apps, etc.)?
I would really appreciate if (You) shared what you know with me.
Being a non-dystopia phone (like fairphone or shift) would be nice too (but those are Goo*le Android one and all which now that the writing is on the wall I don't want to buy.
My Pixel 3a has really been a problem for a long time now since there's no more security updates.
Picrel is varporware I think and the only one that seems available is the C2 and if you know anything about that I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Is it realistic to use a phone from 2018 or so today ?

Confused between which phone to buy.
I'm currently looking at Oneplus 13 (op13) [$710], Oneplus 13r (op13r) [$465], Oneplus 15r (op15r) [$644], galaxy s25 [$594] or the pixel 9 [$663].
Yes I'm only looking at open box offers at bestbuy I'm not paying msrp.
My main needs? A "good" fucking camera because I cba to afford a proper camera but also don't want a shitty poodroid camera that takes those indian selfie tier pictures. SOT also matters a ton, expecting at least a full day of usage without having to charge multiple times in between (one top up from a power bank is fine I guess but I still wouldn't prefer it). Display color accuracy also matters a bit but it's not the end of the world almost all these phones have oled displays.
Don't know what to get. Samsung and Pixel are well known names, but oneplus is a performance masterpiece. The 15r seems ideal with the 7400mah battery, but it's camera is apparently a steep downgrade compared to the 13/13r. It also doesn't have an LTPO display. The 13 is just ugly with the curved display but has the hasselblad collab camera. Confused af.

I still have my old s7 from 2017. Sadly it's not usable for every day use. It lags a lot. Ram/storage are not enough for apps. I had to charge it 2 times per day. You can change the battery if you find one. You should go the regular galaxy s model since bezels are very small nowadays.

The US smartphone market is beyond fucked, on top of Sony leaving the US
>LG stopped making smartphones after 2020 leaving a gap that still hasn't been filled
>Most Chinese brands completely skip it
>Huawei is banned
>Asus is ending production of phones to focus on AI and smart glasses
>HMD left the US market
>HTC recently started making phones again but they're only available in a few developing countries
>Nothing only sells it's flagship phones in the US and they're not compatible with Verizon
>TCL mostly only sells carrier-locked phones
>Many smaller unlocked phone brands like BLU only work on T-Mobile due to Verizon and AT&T only allowing "approved" devices on their network

Android file management is horrific dogshit
First off the only reliable file manager is ghost commander, everything else will shit itself if you're moving more than just a few files.
Second read or writing many small files gets throttled to the point of taking days. This makes syncthing unusable for moving big folders of images etc.
Literally the only reliable method of getting data on and off a device is using termux to make an archive using 7z and then moving it with ghost commander or ssh.
This is without using a computer, if using a computer its still the same dogshit with throttling but you can use adb to pull the archive
Genuinely android is fucking unusable without termux.
