I have the Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds (bluetooth) which I have now stopped using for health reasons. I switched to my old wired Sennheiser CX275s, the poor audio on these is evident. Are contemporary wired IEMs on par on audio quality with the contemporary bluetooth buds?
I found the Sennheiser IE 200, but reviews seem unimpressed https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/sennheiser/ie-200 are they a good option? There is a branded microphone cable but it is quite expensive https://uk.sennheiser-hearing.com/p roducts/mmcx-microphone-cable-with- 3-5-mm-plug

>PR2 vs PRX
yes, PR3 has very extended treble. PRX is no earrape and fuller bass. both PR2 and PRX are great in their own right, but have different tunings. PRX is the safest bet, but PR2 is more exciting if you know what you're looking for.

Tired of the hivemind? Here’s your prescribed sanity dose:
>Crinacle is not your priest.

>Chi-Fi isn’t magic.
Great value, yes. Immune to qc issues and hype cycles? Nah.
>Graphs are not sound.

Tired of not knowing the lingo? Here’s your prescribed sanity dose:
Crinacle law: PEQ a $5 shitbud to perfection
Jeet law: The jeet mind cannot comprehend the time domain
Price-quality inverse relationship: You pay extra for THD
Techs: Derived from THD, derived from USD
PeqDB: Hindu transmutation of one pos to another
Hearing loss: Caused by high volume treble
Headpos law: Sennheiser shills who know nothing about the superiority of IEMs
R2R and tubes: Anathema. Don't even look at them.
Apple dongle: Ambrosia. Brought down to us by AudioScienceReview.
Tips: If you don't have 12 aftermarket pairs, you aren't consoooooming hard enough
Highres vinyl rips and DSD: Takes up more space than antiquated 44.1KHz redbook audio

I just got my first IEM, and out of the box I'm already very confused
The cable comes disconnected from the actual IEMs themselves, and while both the IEMs and cable ends are marked with L and R, the cable end prongs are also marked with a + and -, without any indication on the IEM's cable ports of which holes are postive or negative
How can I tell which orientation to plug it in as? Does it matter?

left and right might make a difference for films where the left channel indicates a sound coming from your visual left, but not really apart from that
you can use a software mixer to mute the left or right channel and see which IEM is active or not

you're overthinking it. the cables are already curved so you know which pins are front or back. knowing which side is which is a matter of looking at the it says at the iem end of the cable. tips being a bitch to put on is fairly common, just keep working it, get yourself used to putting them on better the more you do it.

Bought the highly regarded Tanchjim Luna today and was listening for about an hour. Is it normal for it to sound so bland? Comparing it to my Cayin Ru6, the Luna seems to have trouble rendering bass notes and sparkle correctly. Also it adds this constant, slightly muted clicking sound that doesn't happen on my Ru6. Thankfully I can return it on Amazon.

there's only so much sound a speaker can produce and stereo sound allows different sounds to be divided between speakers
why would it matter if a sound is on the left or right unless it's supposed to represent the direction a sound is coming from?
do bands always put their bassist on the right or left and i've just never heard of this practice?

>why would it matter if a sound is on the left or right.
because the audio either calls for it, or it doesn't. it depends entirely on how the audio was mixed first, then it's up to competent speakers to reproduce that panning, instrument and vocal placement, etc., accurate to what's in the audio mix.
>do bands always put their bassist on the right or left and i've just never heard of this practice?
>mixing music
play any song. any song ever. the kick drums and bass guitar are center in the mix. not panned to the right or left, just smack in the middle. this isn't mono, it's just placing the instrument where it belongs. vocals are generally in the middle as well and snares should be too, for the most part.
bass guitar might as well be in mono because it sits in the middle of the stereo mix.. it has no business being doubled, then hard-panned left and right like rhythm guitars.
it's basic audio mixing, placing instruments in the mix where they sit best in relation to everything else, avoiding interference and having the cleanest possible mix.
bass guitars' and kick drums' placement in every single mix is right smack in the middle.

If your phone's audio jack isn't loud enough then you're deaf or using headpos. If you are deaf please try the Cayin RU6 or RU7, we have many deaf anons here who really enjoy those. If you're using headpos ask /hpg/.
>>
>>
>>108008132
if you swap the left speaker for the right speaker, it's still getting the information it's supposed to get. the information for what sits in left and right in the audio will be replayed if your speakers are set up, for example two speakers, one left, one right.
you can't actually swap the channels themselves unless you do that with dsp.

Tourist here, bought the Kunten and I'm really happy with them, but I'm very new on iem since my first one were the bl03 (hate them, they fall apart), and then the ew200 (good, but I like Kunten more), but I was wondering, do the PR2 sounds better? Since nobody answered the actual question +- is for polarity. As long as it's the same on both sides it doesn't matter. You'll need a measurement rig or level 90 autism with a special signal to tell a difference. If one side is +- and the other side is -+ it will sound fucked up. Sometimes chinks fuck up the soldering and you will need to reverse one side, use this to check

all dongles are transparent, all dongles have enough power to run flathead earbuds
it's clear this isn't my problem with them...
I prefer using my phone's built in headphone jack for convenience, the entire point of flathead earbuds for me is convenience, why would I ruin all of that by adding a separate device, which needs to be charged, paired and all that shit... just to do the same thing as plugging in the headphones?
I've never understood the point in these bluetooth dac/amps, literally only makes sense if you're an audiophool that MUST carry around a bulky ass amplifier for unknown reasons.

I got a moment of low impulse control and I ordered a truthear pure. Please, make me feel bad about my purchase so that I will stop this stupid consoomerist rabbit hole. To be fair, I have only bought two IEMS so far, gave one of them to husband. I am gay.
The truthear pure sound really good based on the interviews though. They are a bit ugly, i prefer the round colorful ones to be honest.

>>
>>108013352
DAC volume buttons are less convenient than phone volume buttons, especially when you attach it to the back of the phone, which you will want to do to avoid destroying the usb. And if you meant to say set the DAC volume once and then adjust on the phone - that is a completely self-inflicted problem of buying a dongle that's too powerful for IEMs.

I EQ’d this $4 POS by ear. Now on treble transients there’s no auditory masking so I hear an interesting effect where it’s so clean that the trail of one doesn’t interfere with the attack of another so it’s almost like they’re dancing around. “diffuse” is a good way of putting it.

For a long time people have said that headpos causes baldness, but perhaps its IEMs that prevent baldness? After all, baldness is caused by excess testosterone, if IEMs reduce testosterone and increase estrogen that would explain everything.
