Family working on getting Canadian citizenship. Looks like the M1 Garand is the best semi auto you can own in Canada?
Are there any other options that aren't completely jank like pump "not" ARs.
Are garands popular up there?
>>

Fixing Canada’s brain drain problem is very easy actually
>Legislate 15% “exit tax” or “taxit” on the total wealth of people leaving the country
>CPP and EI contributions at 4x the usual rate, refunded if they return to Canada and bring at least 87.6% of their earned wealth back with them
>Impose foreign worker tax for Canadians who move for work, paying down a “Registered Net Tax Benefit Account” which is a negative balance of the tax money they’ve used which they have to pay off, guaranteed by their RRSP and TFSA
>Impose 5-year PAL waiting period upon permanent declared return to ensure they won’t off themselves and keep contributing

Type 56 (SKS) is better than M1 Garand. Both are 4 MOA military guns with only iron sights and mounting optics is difficult. Within iron sight range, 7.62x39mm is unironically just as gud as 30-06. The type 56 is lighter, cheaper (gun and ammo), has less recoil.
>>
>>65052076
Sks is the best semi auto you can own price wise but for actual practical reasons the akdas alcor would be the best since it's one of the only semi autos that still shoots 556 and accepts ar magazines or if you specifically wanted a semi auto battle rifle like a garand the fn49 is best since it shoots the same ammo as the garand but is like 1k cheaper

As an outsider I don't see why I'd get an SKS over an M1. I'm not wolverine larping in a country I'm not native too anyway and the garand is dramatically better quality while still being suitable for all use cases in the country.
I'm thinking I could get a 22wmr lever action and a Garand and hunt everything in Canada except for winged game which I could do with my o/u shotgun that's easily brought in with hunting permit.
Is CSASS popular? A 45lc lever might be nice to have too.

>>
>>65052316
Having owned both garands and a few different SKS models, the SKS is a far more hardy and less picky rifle. Garands are notorious for being sensitive to even small tolerance changes in their receivers, an the OP rods fucking suck and are all on borrowed time at this point
>>
>>65052316
>garand is dramatically better quality
They're not. Garands are either 80 year old antiques or cobbled together from random piles of parts (also 80 years old).
A type 56 french tickler will be brand new sealed in cosmoline, perfect fit and finish. Miles better than 99%

.22mag has its use cases, i have a lever one myself, but im not sure what you plan on hunting with it? Its always just been a varmint rifle to me, which is what i think the calibre is best suited for.
If i were hunting small game i'd take 22lr
Deer of larger and you cant use rimfire in most places.
That only leaves beavers and coyotes?
>A 45lc lever might be nice to have too.
Get a .357mag.
.45colt is the worst overall calibre choice for a lever gun (cost vs availability vs power vs range, etc)

Man you guys really do be thinking a lot about your next firearms purchases. I just buy shit on a whim because it tickles my fancy somehow, then I shoot it until I get bored of it or I break it. I clean my guns when they start feeding poorly, and rarely disassemble them for a full cleaning. (Except for the sks).
And yes I am a poorfag like most of ya'll. I live on a maritime poverty wage, I'm just smart with my money which allows me some liberty to be dumb with my gun purchases.

For me, its a combination of mostly being poor, and to a lesser degree limited storage space.
Both presumably common problems in a 3rd world hellhole like this.
Every purchase of large or expensive objects, must be very deliberate.
Its also just fun to talk about what guns we are thinking about, because that is specificly what this general is for, we are firarms enthuisiasts.

Not really going to plink. I'd still have property stateside. It's more about having a couple guns in Canada that suit my needs.
>>65052391
>but couldn’t you have gone, I dunno, literally anywhere else?
No. Australia won't let anyone in. It's not about browns anyway I live in a 30% white area with 60% of that being boomers in nursing homes so 12% actually white. It's not about that since I make decent money anyway and don't care about it because the consequences don't apply in the neighborhoods i'm in.
It's more about the culture of the area being latin American rather than anglo. It's drastic even going from this state to somewhere like Louisiana or Oklahoma.
Looking at a map like a poltard judging how good an area is based on whiteness. There's huge areas of this country that are 99% white but are culturally completely alien to anyone not in the boomer ecosystem.
>>65052648
22 mag has some significant advantages once you look past the CPR of 22lr. For one it's an fmj round offering better terminal performance. Range is a significant factor. As you pointed out it can be used on larger game like coyotes. We're now at a point where you can regularly get subsonic loads which tone it down for squirrel/rabbit (my primary use). Lots of lead free rounds available too.
The real question is why would I get a 22lr when 22mag exists?
>357 magnum
I'm not seeing any advantage over 45lc tbhwy. I'd be getting a Henry originally. 45 colt sees massive gains from a long barrel and is stupid easy to reload as well as shoot subs if you wanted.
>>65052704
I've already owned a SKS as a child. Nothing about it impressed me at all. I'm familiar with m1ish actions through the m14 which is dramatically better quality. It's not even a comparison.
Again I'm not poor and don't plan on mag dumping trash. It's purely a utilitarian purchase with some additional semi auto capabilities should the need arise.

I'm not going to look past cpr, or availability.
Locally (im rural) i can get several varieties of 22lr starting at 15cpr.

What is your chart trying to show? I already know more powerful cartridges exist. I'd have a 30-06 for moose. A 22wmr for squirrel to coyote, and a 45lc for fun / in between.
Not seeing any benefit to buying a 357 magnum.
Time is limited. I'm not interested in collecting guns in two countries. Just the basics so I can hunt species not in my native country and pass the time with my children.
>I'm not going to look past 22lr cpr
Again I'm old but not retired. I won't be mag dumping trash in rural bumfuck. I have 22lr stateside. It doesn't do what I want a gun to do.
>Not available in Canada

>What is your chart trying to show?
Statistical differences between common lever action chamberings.
>Not seeing any benefit to buying a 357 magnum.
compared to .45lc, a 357 chambering offers:
Equal potential muzzle energy
Greater potential velocity
Greater potential range (mpbr)
Equal magazine capacity
~50% cheaper budget ammunition
(not shown; its also more commonly availible, in greater varieties, especially once you factor in .38spcl compatibility)
>I won't be mag dumping trash in rural bumfuck
Fair enough.
Cost and avilibility does not matter to you, but i always like to push it as 2 of the most important factors in calibre selection regardless, because it is relevant to alot of people.
>Useful info rather than crying about minorities

I agree 357 mag has more punch. I specified I wanted a Henry Original of which the two choices are 44-40 or 45lc. 45lc makes the most sense in terms of affordability and availability. At least here in the states. A 357 mag lever gun doesn't interest me since I would have a 30-06 for moose or black bear hunts anyway.

what happens if someone who owns a corporation, gets a corporate multi million dollar life insurance policy, leaves the country, then slowly uses that policy to pay themselves back tax free?
what happens if someone physically puts their cash into assets in another country then leaves?
how do you tax properties and assets?
etc.
Just let them fucking leave, trying to do the communist thing of “you leave we steal from you” just inspires them to evade taxation and never come back, none of those individuals are responsible for the problems with Canada so punishing them is meaningless.
For starters I want the shitty carbon tax to be removed because it’s retarded and pointless, visa and ((refugee)) claims to go down massively, and for price fixing bullshit to be cracked down on aggressively (since just about EVERY company from Loblaws to Shell has done it now consequence free, if the price of goods goes up 20 cents, they’re adding 40-50 cents to the price now and nobody knows wiser.)

>Legislate 15% “exit tax” or “taxit” on the total wealth of people leaving the country
That doesn't work though because most of the "brain drain" we're experiencing is people who have just graduated or are early in their careers so 15% of their wealth is nothing especially compared to foreign salaries.
All of your other proposals will just keep people who have left from wanting to return to Canada which would just exacerbate the problem.

Anything you can buy illegally in the US they have already. The only thing that keeps them in check is that most people see the cops as protecting 'us' from 'them'. As soon as the police lose public support they become effectively paralyzed. And tech won't save them because the redskins' national hobby is taking out power lines. Gun control has nothing to do with public safety. It is a political mechanism to turn the general public against the police so the police can never investigate our political class' professional thievery.

I don't they'll be kicking down doors to get your prohibs, but it'll be enforced like if someone specifically reports you, or the police notice you still have it while they're investigating a crime (related or not). Basically a don't ask, don't tell situation where they only do something if they absolutely have to.

Pellet guns
>Corporal Mathew Howell confirmed that the first incident involved two attempted armed robberies that occurred in the afternoon of Thursday, Apr. 2. Cpl. Howell says that a male suspect attempted to rob the Leland Hotel and Bar at 1:17 in the afternoon while armed with a pellet gun and a knife.
>The suspect is also alleged to have attempted a second robbery at the Royal Hotel a short time later, before being arrested and taken into police custody. RCMP have not yet disclosed the name of the individual, nor the extent of the charges he is facing. More details are expected soon.
>Police have also confirmed that two suspects are being sought in connection to a pellet gun shooting that occurred over the weekend. While the exact location of the incident has not been released by police, members of the public have reported that it took place in the United Church area.
>Cpl. Howell says that two suspects discharged pellet guns at two individuals before fleeing the scene in a grey Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle is reported to have fled north of the crime scene, and the suspects have yet to be apprehended. The victims of the shooting suffered minor injuries, according to police.
Indians very rarely have actual firearms when robbing places. if they have real guns they instead use them to kill their cousins on the reserve. A pellet gun is more useful for getting liquor and smokes.

If you still own a legal handgun are you allowe to purchase parts for it? I dont want to risk a lot of target shooting if I can get replacement parts if something breaks. Can you still get barrels, firing pins etc? Or do our Epsteinite overlords forbid it.
>>
>>65057251
Yes still legal. As an extreme example, you can buy a US handgun off IRG and they'll send you everything except the frame. If you own a 3D printer be careful about importing from the US because you may get investigated.

It's well known that when we talk about the West we mean the 95% of its area which loves freedom and hates Ottawa. They aren't handing in shit. The other 5% consists of evil dystopian shithole cities full of illegal immigrants trying to destroy our way of life. And yet, tragically, the vast majority of our population lives in these shitholes. Point is that there is no such thing as what "the West" wants or thinks or does. Brig.-Gen. Vanessa Hanrahan, Canadian Forces Provost Marshal, issued a statement March 31, noting that the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service had charged Smith.
Article content
Smith is charged with one count of neglect to the prejudice of good order and discipline pursuant to Section 129 of the National Defence Act.
Article content
“The charge stems from a military police investigation that began in May 2025 into the receipt of compensation and benefits, afforded by the Canadian Armed Forces,” Hanrahan stated at the time.

Carney got another floor-crosser. If the Liberals win at least one out of three byelections this Monday, they'll get a majority.
Frankly I think it shows the basic flaw in the Conservative party which is that a lot of them were never really conservatives in the first place.

>In June 2021, Gladu publicly opposed and voted against Bill C-6, an act that would end the practice of conversion therapy in Canada.
>In April 2020, Gladu sparked controversy in an interview with Melanie Irwin of Blackburn Radio by promoting a controversial and unproven treatment for COVID-19. At that time, Gladu referred to the treatment of “hydroxychloroquine, with azithromycin and zinc sulphate” as having a “nearly 100 per cent recovery rate”.

No, but its potentially a start, kek.
Getting it is actually kind of long process that involves being bounced around to a bunch of different people.
You need to get PWD status, and then use that status to apply for gibbs.
I got mine for anxiety (actually legit crippling/debilitating anxiety tho) with a little sprinkling of spergers.
>>
>>65060664
No. The people who get it are usually stuck on it for life because the police are so sick of dealing with them that they take a few hundred psych ward visits as proof they are disabled. It also means effectively losing lots of legal rights, getting stuck with the dregs of society, getting constantly harassed by the cops because they hate dealing with you, not owning anything, living in a bed bug slum with fent addicts everywhere, and rotting away after a few years. The only people who are on disability and have something approaching a normal life are those who have easily proven trauma (amputations, blindness, etc.) and live with family who take care of them. The mental health diagnoses come with huge mandatory prescriptions, drug tests, private investigators following you around and interviewing people in your life, and therapy/psych sessions. Its not worth it.

So you have a legitimate disability and live with family. Which is exactly my point. Go to a shelter and talk to people about their disability experience. You are an exception.
