As far as my needs go, a scooter would almost be perfect, but I want something I can take on the freeway and if I'm getting out of the cuck cage I want a bit of POWER. Even if I don't go wildly over the speed limit I'll want acceleration, y'know? Also, not looking like a fag or alcoholic would be nice. Is there anything else I should think about or am I in a "just do whatever" kind of bracket?

My MAXI SCOOTER is great on the freeway with 300cc of pulling power. All you really need is anything above 150cc for reach 100 km/h. My MAXI SCOOTER can reach 150 km/h which more than fast enough to pass trucks on the highway.

Not all h*nda's have electrical problems but whenever I get a call about an electrical problem it's always a h*nda.
Most of the time it's the switchgear on the handlebars going bad and causing problems downstream even like your drain issue.

God I am so glad at times like these that I live in Florida and can just hop on and ride whenever I feel like it. Today felt so temperate, I was in a t-shirt and had my pants on and spent most of my time dual sportan with my KLR650. Meanwhile my relatives in Wisconsin can't see out their windows because snow has piled up in front of it.

Hmm! Good hint (I will never look into it and simply keep disconnecting the battery when I park it)
To be fair, it's the only Honda I own that does this
Well except for the CBF that does the same thing
And the Civic whose auto start/stop only works for a day after charging the (new!) battery outside of the car
But the CB doesn't do this, ever (except that one time in 2018)
Th-the Futura did it first! (NOT a Honda!)

Frame and suspension are completely different and somehow it feels smoother than the CB despite having the same engine. It's just "newer".
>Why keep both
I'm attached to the CB as my first bike, and I inherited the CBF. Intend to keep it as the CB's eventual replacement, or maybe as a first bike for a nephew or niece once they're old enough. The Vifer is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome to ride in the city and drinks more petrol, so the smol bikes are still nice for daily riding.
And yeah, I also like how it looks a lot.

I'm about to get tires put on my 2000 vfr. Rain doesn't slow me down much so I'm looking for tires that can handle that. It seems like there are way less reviews that aren't the couple of premier model tires. Should I just buy some Road 6s or is there an economical rain friendly tire? Also cool to see a Futura in the thread, I have one of those too.

It's not that heavy... not when compared to the Viffer... and you don't feel the weight once you get moving, anyway...
It's a great beginner bike.
They're not expensive either, though not many are for sale rn. Looks like they fetch around 3k€ for similar condition to mine, which is very reasonable. My dad bought this one in 2017 for like 2.5k

i've got pic related and i'm wondering if it would be an issue to pop the visor off and do offroad stuff in it. can i just pull the pads and stuff and hose the helmet out if it gets too filthy? it's also got a drop down sunglasses visor thing and i imagine that'd get fucked up too.
i moved to a place that has a lot better access to actual dirt and woods riding. should i splash out and buy a second helmet just for dirt shit or am i overthinking it and i should just use what i have?

And that's why the helmet has a visor. What I'm saying is there's no need to pull that off and slap on some goggles unless he's doing some serious off road shit where there's a chance that the visor could get badly damaged. A little mud isn't an issue, if he was riding with someone else and they were flinging gravel in his face then sure.
>>28819480
Just leave it as it is and ride. Unless you think there's a chance you're gonna fall in a stream nothing's gonna get inside your helmet.

Get a dedicated dirt helmet, anon. Those kinds of helmets are handy for ADV stuff where you're likely to encounter dirt and road stretches, but an actual dirt helmet will be nicer to wear off-road. Plus, off-road riding tends to be sweaty, stinky work so it's generally nice to keep them separate so your street helmet doesn't get crusty as fast.

>>28819634
There closest modern production bikes to a xr650r, in weight to power and suspension, are probably the KTM 500 xcf and Beta 500s, and those are fucking piss rockets in the dirt. I glaze the ktm 690s, and they did have a Baja run in prototype form back in 2007, but 70 fucking horses on a 350lbs bike, from a single cylinder, is honestly overkill.
Everytime I consider getting one or a Husky 701 used Inremind myself I'll probably die, and even if I don't, that thing has to eat a rear 50/50 tire every 2000 miles.

I'm going to break in the new lifter tappets in my Gucci today, here's hoping I don't break anything and this isn't a "3rd time's the charm" kind of deal.
I really don't feel like hunting for another cam and dropping another 300 bucks on lifters again, so I'm hoping the cam isn't worn to shit and is salvageable.
It was a mistake to be seduced by the sexy italian looks, I strayed away from my Soviet machines and now am paying the price.

I'd say they're mandatory for any ADV or dual sport, really. The Barkbusters alone are a massive quality of life upgrade with the wind and brush protection they add, not to mention the protection you get for your levers.
>>28819766
If anything, it makes the bike easier to swing a leg over, and it's already one of the easiest off-road capable bikes to mount. I'll probably add the little expanded footplate they offer since I'm around sand a lot, but the lean really isn't the huge deal that a lot of people make of it. It just looks kinda weird.

Well, I can tell you those 70/30 "truck" tires on bigger dual sports don't get traction for shit on frozen sleet. I walked on it just fine, but I realized real fucking quick while I could get the bike down my drive, but I wasn't getting it back up it.

Is it viable to get a Vrod?
I ended up passing on the 2025 nightster, ultimately because i want to tune this bike, and the 24's dont even have dynojet support and i dont want to be stuck holding the bag like M3 owners did for so many years.
Probably going to look for a MY23 and paint the engine black since it looks nicer.
You can get maybe 104rwhp and 100rwtq from a Nightster 975 with intake+exhaust.
Kreusi got 118rwhp because he got the race ecu from king of baggers screaming eagle, had chain drive, intake+exhaust+octane booster+mafless tune.
I really like the nightster, they just want to pull from 3k+.
Also looking at some Breakouts with the twincam engine.
Pic related ugly side

Mostly third party companies that I know are good, though I do have the factory engine guards and a few other Royal Enfield accessories still to install. There's a pretty good aftermarket for it already, despite being a relatively new model.
>>
>>28820763
The used market is fortunately full of already-upgraded T7s, CRF300Ls, and what have you. People buy the bikes new, dump a bunch of money into parts and upgrades, then sell when they realize that riding off-road is hard work and requires building a new set of skills.
And yes, I'm also a bit salty about the KLE. Somehow the Himmy 450 manages to have both a lower seat height and more ground clearance, which is kinda funny.

I think so. I was looking at them for a while. Some of them will be long in the tooth by now, however. Get familiar with the differences between years. The vrscr street rod had mids, the big gas tank, inverted forks, and some other stuff first. They had a 17-year run, and there is still an aftermarket with companies like Fitzgerald motorsports. Your info on the nightster is valuable. I thought you could just get one and have the ecu flashed.

If you're keen to ride you can go out early before the temperature rises. I left the house at 6am this morning to ride for a few hours. The roads were empty because most people are sleeping in on this public holiday but I still noticed at least three cop cars hiding with radar guns hoping to ruin someone's day.

Nightster is a nice bike, like a modern Dyna. It's fun, worth a test ride, just keeps pulling. Also the stance when you sit is unique. Just my ass kept sliding back on ever stoplight and the upshift required a hefty push, oh and the inner thigh heat.
2027 is the last year harley will make Vrod parts and then it will be like Victory.
Mid pegs were only on 07-08 from my research, and aftermarket costs in the thousands.

back to the snake on the fazer and I really gotta fuckin fly today lol
after gearing down 1 tooth in the front sprocket I still find myself in the same predicament of first being short but necessary on tight corners and second being long but necessary in most corners
Honestly beginning to feel like this bike is not suited for the tighter canyon riding I enjoy.
Really interested in that new Honda Hornet 750.
90hp with a 160 rear tire sound like a canyon monster, are there any other bikes making that kind of power that don't run 180's?
All that said still love this thing to death and it felt way better than the CP2 did
