What is a bike made before 2008 that radiates protagonist energy.
Not main character syndrome or anything like that, of you picked up a story and it's about high stakes motorcycling. Which bike radiates the hero, the protagonist, the good guy. Nevermind the mechanical aspects or performance, if you saw a dude on one you'd think "That's a good guy"
Just like how AKs are the bad guy gun and ARs are the good guy gun but for bikes. Has to be 08' downwards for the setting.
Current ideas: Suzuki gsxr 1000, RVT1000R, ZX9R, SV1000, maybe a 900rr fireblade?

That disclaimer was in the context of sport bikes. As in, I don't want my protagonist being the hero just because he has the "fastest bike"
You saw 5 sport bikes and thought "I know! I know! A fucking fatboy"
>>
>>
>>28830610
Yeah you're right, my book would totally be a better read if I gave a fat boy Takumi tier plot armor.
Enough of this, the crusiers have their own division and thats sorter. This is for the sport bikes and I figure you autistic weebs would have some key insights to influence the chosen hero bike.

And you think fat boy, sure ill grant that I could've been less snappy but cmon dude you're telling me one couldn't deduct that we are talking about sport bikes? Okay next time I'll lead with that.

I need a link/picture, and fast.
Recently bought a 7L tank bag (extends to 10L) and I know it's not gonna be enough for my summer tour through the wondrous lands of cheese and pantomimes.
Bonus question: can I trust an Aliexpress luggage rack or should I splurge on an established brand? If so, which one?
>>
>>28830709
I took the armor inserts out of my gear and wear a separate Leatt armored shirt, armored shorts, and kneepads. It's great for layering as needed so you can throw on an abrasion-resistant jacket when you get on the road or swap it out for a jersey if you're going off-road. It also keeps the armor held closer to your body so it's less likely to move around in a crash.
>>

>Bonus question: can I trust an Aliexpress luggage rack or should I splurge on an established brand? If so, which one?
i'm of the persuasion that if it's aluminum or whatever, there are only so many grades of aluminum. and even the cheapest one for machining is pretty good. so the material is probably fine. and then the way they'd make it is to mill out the piece of aluminum. cost savings are going to be from making them as fast as possible. so it's probably going to be more rough. probably sharp edges (which sucks for straps but you could hit it with a file). surface finish probably sucks.
but structurally i don't think it could be that bad.
i was looking into it and i considered sending off a STEP to send-cut-send and making my own custom one

yes you can, you just have to know how to disassemble and reassemble your bike
you put it on a crate, or half crate, have it wrapped and airfreighted to your destination
or if youve got months to wait, put it on a ship

You lot probably don’t remember me, but Himychad here. I sold it a couple years ago to move to a new state, and the himy would not suffice on WY roads… anyway. I’m in a position to get a bike again. I kind of want something like my old CB750, but newer. I would prefer dual sport/adv as well. Something used around $3k that’ll ride just fine at 90-100mpg and probably a bit of off road. Off road not required, but I’ll be on gravel plenty.
What does /dbt/ recommend? I will eventually get a T700 but that’s not for a few years down the line. Just bought a van for my business and don’t want to drop too much money this early on.
>>
>>28831201
New himmy 450? I'll reach 90mph. But, its going to be difficult to find a bike for 3k. Maybe a used himmy 450. INT 650, triumph bonneville should be able to handle gravel roads though. Go old old and see what bikes are available in your locality.

All the 2 stroke ones did that up until the Typ 640.
I wanted a Jawa initially, but the Czech niggers have stolen them all from Finland and the ones left are all fucked to shit or overpriced, forcing me to go for an Izh instead.
I was contemplating about dropping a Jawa Typ 640 2 stroke twin in my Izh at one point, could've copped the whole bike for like 600 bucks, but skipped on it because it was a fairly solid bike and I didn't feel like ripping the engine from such a good bike and leaving the rest to rot.

why are emissions requirements so strict for motorcycles?
it's a pretty small slice of the pie. i was thinking, even if a motorcycle produces more pollution per mile than a car, any percentage reduction in emissions is going to be a much small reduction just because of how few motorcycles are actually out there.
plus, even people with motorcycles usually also have cars that they are putting more miles on. it's just a really small piece of the pie to focus on.
and what about other small engines? like lawnmowers and weedeaters? everyone gets their yard mowed, not that many people have motorcycles. my dual sport has to be neutered from the factory but my lawnmower doesn't need a catalytic converter? i hate this gay earth
>>
>>
>>28831295
What else would they limit then, the big corporations? The indians dumping their trash into the rivers? The landfills burning all their shit in a giant open air pit? The shipping industry running on bunker fuel?
Nah nigga, cars and bikes are the real issue here. Plus they're easier to cuck, what are you gonna do about it when they stick a 6 foot long catalytic converter up your ass?

the fact that you can do that is the thing that is retarded. if (((they))) cared, then that would be a problem. but they don't so it isn't. if the rule you follow brought you here, then what was the point of the rule?
>>
>>28831307
There is no point to anything. Why does the rook move in a certain way? Doesn't matter, nothing on this earth is ever fair and nothing makes sense. Everything gay and jewish. Just find a way to flourish in this god forsaken world. One more think I hate is how all cars have become bigger. Smallers cars are not profitable. If they cared about environment, we'd have smaller kei cars, motorcycles, cars that last for 30 years, instead we have cars the size of a minibus for Jenny to get to work.
>>
>>28831295
>why are emissions requirements so strict for motorcycles
They aren't. In the EU they are approx. the same as for cars. In California Motorcycles are allowed to emit quite a lot more than cars for the reasons you mentioned as well as the wish not to ruin things (yah CARB actually cares!) and benign neglect. CARB EOs (their name for approval certs) are accepted by Canada, so that applies there too.
Two years ago I sat through a presentation by a Cal Air Resources Board about how the mandate for electric cars would be applied to motorcycles. The committee noted that the emissions standards hadn't been updated in like forever, thought it wasn't worth revisiting now because *the reasons you mentioned* plus the move to electrics.
The committee was also amazed to discover that Motorcyclists LIKE their bikes to be loud, vibrate, and occasionally catch fire. They also noted the other problems of weight and range, and recommended pushing the timeline for electric bikes back a few years.
I probably have the deck from the presentation around here somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

Yes, they generally sell Euro spec bikes in CA with a different charcoal canister.
BTW CA went through a spasim a while back about how to enforce DOT helmet wear, and the CHP behaved so badly that the state gave up the attempt. I've noticed a number of ECE-only helmets for sale in the US recently and I think we may be to the point where no one really cares. NHTSA (the US traffic safety division of the fed DOT) enforcement folks mostly test shorty helmets now, because that's where all the faggotry is.

The plate seat is a good idea, I've considered making some custom little hooks to make it easier to attach a cargo net. My luggage rack removed the front mounting points for the passenger handles and replaced them with some blank plates, I think I could make something to go there.
My bike's in the shop so I can't take any proper photos, so this is the best I have.

Any stories riding motorcycles in severe weather?
Got caught in a (thankfully) light rain storm the other day for the first time.
>still relatively new to biking at this point (<500 miles ridden)
>didn't check the weather before going to work because retarded
>heavy rain roll through, try to leave in a small gap when I get off
>turns out water doesn't feel super good against you going 40MPH
>have to get onto interstate
>get up to 60mph
>back wheel starts to wander back and forth slightly
>take it easy on the way home
I was soaked but I made it.
>>

I ride in all weather, usually rain is fine even if you’re getting dumped on as long as you have rain gear and a wind screen
However, this summer I did forget that other people become retarded in the rain, didn’t yield to a Mexican (I can only assume) merging onto the road, he didn’t see me, and I had a pretty nasty accident, for the bike. I walked away unscathed praise be to God.

The only helmets I've ever had that creaked had two-piece bump liners, and I figure something like a layer of plastic cling wrap between the two parts would stop the creak but I have no way of knowing if that would impact safety.
If your helmet is under warranty I would be sending it in for service or replacement, myself.

yah, that happens worldwide, unfortunately.

You're like eight feet from the pavement, congrats.

I've never had any traction problems riding in the rain, or even in light hail.
I'm a bit more careful with my lean angle and I keep a bigger stopping distance, but in general I've found bikes handle the rain just as well as cars.

New rider here. Last week I had to break suddenly very hard for the first time (no ABS but my tires did not lock). And I forgot to pull the clutch in. As the bike slowed I heard a terrible grinding noise coming from the clutch/front sprocket area. When I changed my oil recently I noticed there were very small shiny flakes in it which aren't usually there. According to my autistic deep dive on the internet, apparently my rear wheel still had enough momentum to pull the chain and grind the clutch plates in the opposite direction of what they usually do.
So my question(s) are, is this what a slipper clutch is made for or would have helped? And did I fuck up my clutch and should change the plates (it seems to just as fine still)?
Bless you anons.

These metal sculptures are so cool. If you're out near Borrego Springs, check out Galleta Meadows. There's some statues near the paved road, but if you can handle some decently easy dirt, there's a bunch more of all sizes hidden out in the desert.

>If your helmet is under warranty I would be sending it in for service or replacement
I'm in Australia and purchased this helmet on Black Friday from Italy so I don't like my chances of getting a replacement/refund.
>something like a layer of plastic cling wrap between the two parts would stop the creak
I will try this. I've dissected the helmet before to install my bluetooth system so I will pull it apart again and try "lubricating" with segments with butter or anal lube before trying the cling wrap suggestion. Fortunately my trans girlfriend has lots of lube in xer handbag.
Thank you for your response.

>When I bought my KTM/Bajaj Duke I tried to buy the comfort seat at the same time but the dealer didn't stock it
Ah, the usual, I still even over a year after getting mine, I see no one piece seat whatsoever being available for my 390 ADV, it's almost like these fuckers expect you to do a custom seat for you and charge premium for it too.
Fuck off, a $15 gel cushion from ali did the trick, and saves me the trouble of going DIY on the original seat, besides if I ever sell bike, I get to keep the cushion too.

>I forgot to pull the clutch in
I spotted your problem. Seems you weren't riding a scooter so you should work on fixing that.
I've had to emergency-brake on several occasions (on my scooter) and never found flakes in my oil. In fact, I don't really understand how braking affects the oil. Maybe you need to adjust your windscreen wipers and check the passenger seat belt for tears.
>>
>>28831743
Probably your braking was too sudden and you were on a low gear with high rpm, dunno if this happened to you just when you lowered a gear down and let the clutch go too quick just before the break.
It shouldn't be broken, but probably clutch plates worn up a little more than usual.
Best advice I can give ya? Go practice your emergency braking as much as possible, the goal is that you get to do both braking + engine braking the right way to slow down as much as you can, but don't overdo the clutch.
Motocontrol videos, or better yet, his course, will help you a lot, he's a real one unlike faggotjitsu.

Scooters are so intuitive. Most people started riding bicycles as children and the scooter controls are identical to a bicycle so a scooter is the natural progression forward.
Manual motorcycles are for race tracks.

Nearly dropped my bike today because it's extremely hot and the tyres are melting. Took a corner at full speed and drifted like a madman. Countersteering like a motherfucker and then I noticed the police car on the other side of the road who witnessed the whole thing. They didn't give chase so I guess I got away with that one.

Anon, I'm afraid your bike's previous owner was a retard. You should give the bike a good once-over to make sure he didn't work his retard magic in other places as well.

No: the 144,000 and forgotten bloodlines of the prophets and children of israel; namely the 10 scattered and exiled tribes, but especially the priesthood after zaddok
And they failed on that note; only a moderate success
Recall in elijah's day, God Reserved 7000 that did not bend the knee to baal
Similar circumstances presently
