Big Bird finally went up for preorder. Up on the NECA store and every other online shop.
>>
New York Toy Fair is Feb 14-17. We'll likely get an idea how the pacing of new releases will be for 2026 there. Plus any exclusives.

Bunch of new figures hitting shelves now. Seems like the Christmas lull has finally ended. The Munsters are the newest releases and they came out great.

>Finds neither; finds Mrs. Voorhees and Masquerade Phantom of the Opera, though
I guess that's technically a win.

Big Bird won't be out till later this year. Jack is getting restocked though, at least.
>>
>>11690959
>>11690965
Ohhh, I thought they said he'd be out in stores. Oh, well, my mistake.
...
Is it just me, or are they taking a long time to continue the Sesame line? Ernie, Bert, and Count came out months ago already, and now the next figure won't be out 'til later this year? Is that normal? Or am I just impatient? Seems like it'd be difficult to keep the hype and interest going with such huge gaps between waves like that.
>>
>>11690962
Nice projection
>>
>>11690968
Keep in mind the world went to shit just as the Sesame Street figures got released. King Cheeto made everything more expensive and rattled all the overseas shit that only started to get "normal" again after Covid. I'm sure there was a moment of having to rethink and reschedule.
>>
>>11690716
I was having a laugh. Big if true though. I trust someone with actual ties to CTW over our resident troll that frequently makes shit up.
>>11690841
Frazzle has changed from being more of a yellowish orange originally to vermillion, and depending on the lighting he sometimes looks more red than orange like in the bottom left pic. I had the book on the right of picrel as a kid, so in my mind's eye Frazzle is red even if I know he's orange.
But I knew anon was talking about Elmo.

>>
So for some actual news, from actual sources: NECA IS DOING THE MUPPETS!
>>
NECA Muppet Show is coming.
I never did get my hands on a vanilla Palisades Fozzie.
>>
>>11692122
Well fuck me sideways, good on you Neca! That's awesome!
>>
>>11692122
Fozzy'll work like Alf did, hell they may even do the same construction with the ball jointed upper head on some of these guys. Get more expressiveness that way.
>>
>>11692122
>>11692125
How about yknow… doing new characters? Most people who will buy these already have Palisades and/or Diamond Select figures. Why go all in on a new line if I have no guarantee they’ll give me new characters for the display? Hell, the Sesame Street line already seemed dead before Big Bird finally got announced. Hard to trust any line when Gargoyles and Dinosaur basically got canceled silently. Even though they even had figure prototypes for Gargoyles.
>>
>>11692164
Sesame Street seems to have been more of a production delay given how they've shown like a half dozen more characters at conventions.
>>
>>11692164
That's a cool bunch of stupidness you just posted. Not everyone has Palisades figures. Plus those figure are insanely costly on the after market.

There are new Muppets fans that exist now that weren't around when that line was out. This is printing money. And if you don't want in? Great. You won't be missed. A ton of people want some new figures.
>>
>>11692122
Wow, this is huge news! Getting Muppets back at retail is a big thing. Hope they aren't limited to any version of the show.

If I can get a Swedish Chef for a normal price it's a win no matter what.
>>
>>11692122
I had figured they would be getting the license for this after diamond going under. I don't think I'll go completionist on this or the muppets but its nice to finally have them together in the same scale.
>>
>>11692348
Kermit especially
>>
>>11692366
diamond pulled it off just fine on a significantly smaller figure
im just glad its not fucking bendy wire, neca seems to love using that shit and it will inevitably break if you actually play with your toys
>>
>>11692366
It should be fine, their new Jack Skellington has really tiny joints too and he moves beautifully.
>>
>>11692345
I really hope NECA is able to somehow improve on the Palisades figures and it isn't just "Yeah, these are basically the same toys. Pay up, fuckers."
>>
>>11692502
I mean we'll get multiple heads on some characters, you'll get extra hands for sure. Accessory count beyond that may not be as extensive just cause of how things are now compared to back then, but the detail work should be on par or better going by the Sesame Street stuff.

the palisades figures are not well articulated, that’s going to be the obvious improvement, I wouldn’t expect the sculpts or accessories to be any better though really, it’s not gonna happen, those figures still hold up there
>>
>>11692708
They're making fucking Sherlock Hemlock and Frazzle over on the Sesame Street line.
>>
>>11692179
I almost bought the Palisades reporter Kermit about a month ago and missed out, guess being lazy pays off
>>
>>11692916

>>
>>11690293
>>11690294

Looks awesome though.
>>
>>11692844
The bummer is that affordable playsets are not feasible and the palisades ones are going to continue to climb in price. But hey, default Rolf in a not insane situation to order.
>>
>>11692844
>I wouldn’t expect the sculpts or accessories to be any better though really
This is probably true for most of them, but I've always thought Palisades' Scooter and Miss Piggy could use a bit more work on their faces.
>>
>>11693156
Rolf with a piano seems feasible, but yeah, the Palisades playsets are a glorious product of their time. The cost to match stuff like that would probably hurt a looot nowadays.

>IntroducingtheVault Finds Blind Box!>We’veuncovered some rare and unique finds deep in the NECA Vault, including some pieces thathaven’tbeen available in years. Each blind box isnearly one-of-a-kindand packed with over $300 worth of NECA figures and collectibles.

$140…
Will be interesting to see what people get, although I wouldn’t have high hopes.
>>
>>11693342
based on the rest of these boxes it’s gonna be a bunch of stuff you either already have or don’t want
>>
>>11693365
Yep. Probably full of the stuff they tried to charge scalper prices for last vault sale and didn’t sell.
>>
>>11693391
Nope, not at all the case.
>>
>>11693392
How would you even know what’s gonna be in it if they just started selling them today?
>>
>>11693393
How would you?
>>
>>11693402
Because the other NECA mystery boxes haven’t exactly had a good track record.
>>
>>11693365
Remeber ALF? He's back! In blindbox form!
>>
>>11693414
On the contrary, they've been really good.
>>
>>11693296
>>11693300
Holy fuck, I wish the adult collectibles section was that big in my local Targets. They're like a third of that size here.
>>
>>11693414
When they first started, there were reports of them containing some decent stuff. But now it's all the same sort of pegwarmers as the shit piling up at Ross, and sometimes they don't come close to their advertised value.
These will probably contain 2 figures that they were scalping for $70 at their Vault sale but now they'll claim they are worth $150 each so the box is definitely worth $300.
>>
>>11693732
And you're definitely full of shit. You just want a reason to complain.
>>
>>11693739
I complemented the mystery boxes from when they first started, but that's not good enough for you? You need it to be 100% praise 100% of the time.
I'm sorry I can't get on board with NECA charging eBay scalper prices for their last Vault sale, and nothing you say will change my mind, so you might as well go troll somebody else.
>>
>>11693799
They didn't charge scalper prices. If you can't afford something that's on you.
>>
>>11693816
I didn't say I can't afford it.
Just because I can afford to pay the eBay price for a figure doesn't mean that it's okay that the company that made it is charging the same amount, especially since they aren't even paying eBay fees.
Now go away troll.
>>
>>11693828
They weren't, so you're once again freaking out over problems you decided to make up.
>>
>>11693830
>They weren't
Technically true since they were charging more than eBay sellers.
>>
>>11693834
And I'm sorry you were too poor too afford it. Go be a whiny child somewhere else.
>>
>>11693841
I'm not too poor to afford Neca's scalper prices. Read >>11693828 again.
And I'm sorry you got caught lying. They definitely were charging scalper prices, despite your claims to the contrary.
>>
>>11693860
I never once told a lie, you're just getting angry because you can't afford some figures and now you're lashing out. I don't get it, but that's your cross to carry.

They weren't charging scalper prices, again, you're having hard times financially apparently. That's rough for you.
>>
>>11693570
It's a two story building the chain took over decades ago but they had hardly any staff on the floor, at least yesterday morning. The regular toy department was also pretty big but understocked in some cases except way more kids wrestling and kids Star Wars, and an entire half aisle for Disney/Mickey/Duck.

>>11693342
Likewise, it could be a decent deal but NECA has and has had far too many franchises I have no interest in AT ALL for me to be more than curious about other people's find.
>>
Well Bob came out really nice. I'm going to have to snag two more of these so I can do the other shrinker heads.
>>
>>11694533
You know that there was a wrestler named the Juicer that used the Beetlejuice look?
>>
Saw my first Pee Wee in the wild at an actual Target today. But nothing else seemed to be new except for the Bat Animation Tooneys. Tiny section but fully stocked.
>>
>>11694533
I want more of the dead from the movies
>>
>>11692122
>>11692125
Idk why, but I get the feeling that this line will only reach series 2 and some main characters won’t be released. This isn’t me trying to be cynical, I just have a strong gut feeling
>>
>>11694929
You have a very stupid gut, then. This is a bigger deal than Sesame Street even.
>>
>>11695123
>bigger deal
Instead of seeing shelves and shelves of NECA when I hit Ross since the holidays, I'm finding stacks and stacks of Super7 ReActions.
Sure Muppets were and might be really huge again, but the last movie didn't go far.
It was a stupid concept and script, but it didn't hit big - even with the hard core Muppet fan base.
>>
>>11695234
Who cares? The recent movies aren't what pushed the Muppets into the zeitgeist. Muppets are a cultural staple and EVERYONE loves them no matter what. Sorry you have a dysfunctional brain.
>>
I need a bare female torso for a custom, and NECA figures look to be the right size. I figure my best options are an Elvira or a Demon, but I've got questions about both

What does Elvira look like under the dress, is her torso fully sculpted?

Demona's top looks to be a separate piece, is that so? And if so, how easy is it to take it off without damaging the torso?

Also, generally is there anything odd about NECA plastic wrt customizing and painting?
>>
>>11696161
Elvira is sculpted but not like, anatomically so. She does still have the articulation cuts, but is a bare body under the dress, with painted legs to simulate pantyhose.

Demona's top is not a separate piece, no, just sculpted to look that way. You could probably do some work to it with sanding and cutting, but that's more work that you want to do I'm betting. If you want a bare body to work with, you'd definitely want to go with the Elvira. Though she is a larger scale than the average figure. Not sure what you're making or what you want it to work with.

And no, nothing odd about the plastic. Boil and pop and your typical painting rituals will be fine when customizing.

What ARE you making, if I may inquire?
>>
>>11696178
I want to make a giant for my Warhammer Sylvanth army. My plan is to stick the limbs from the DC Mulitiverse King Kordax figure on the female torso, add an appropriate head I still need to figure out, and then add a few branches and stuff.

Shouldn't be too much of a job, especially since I can bridge the connection points with some modeling putty and it doesn't need to be perfect as long as it looks vaguely treeish
>>
>>11696229
Oh, neat.

What? You expect them to make obscure characters like Rowlf and Rizzo? Snrk.
>>
>>11697528
They're prioritizing D-list Sesame Muppets like Frazzle and Sherlock Hemlock (who comes with his dog that only appeared in like six sketches in the 1980s) before guys like Elmo and Cookie Monster. They're not afraid of Mupp Shittos.
>>
>>11697540
Yeah but Rowlf and Rizzo are like, K-Listers.
>>
>>11697551
Rowlf was Jim's main non-Kermit guy and the one that got him his first actual recurring national TV gig and Rizzo was omnipresent enough in the 90s and 2000s that Disney has going "Hey, we finally recast Rizzo after firing Steve, please watch the Rogen Muppet Show" to grab people's attention since Christmas.
>>
>>11697540
wtf happened to Oscar. I was looking forward to that one the most because he's rarely seen without his trashcan. He just walks around it like those trashbin droids from Star Wars.
>>
>>11697562
He got trashed.
>>
>>11697562
I assume he's still next after Big Bird since they first showed them off together. Can only hope they start figuring out a consistent release schedule after the bird drop.
>>
>>11697562
Eh, his legs sticking out of the bottom was like, a mid 70s thing. Then he could warp to random trash cans like in Hooper's store, this was dropped. Then he got Bruno the Trashman who carried him around. Then Bruno's suit disintergrated. Then Oscar just walked around like a normal muppet, and still does today.
>>
>>11697572
I thought can warping was created for the HBO seasons when they gentrified the Street and added recycling bins.
>>
>>11697579
Nah, he was doing that when Mr. Hooper was still around. Would teleport mainly between Fix-It Shop, Hooper's Store, outside of Hooper's Store, and a random trashcan outside of a Chinese Noodle shop.
And apparently, Grungdetta lives in the recycling bin next to Oscar's in the HBO seasons?
>>
>>11697540
Ooh, this is the first time I've seen the Sherlock. He looks great.
>>
>>11697540
>>11697587
See, I like them doing the characters made from the Anything Muppets. Count can easily have his head mold be reused for Mumford and Biff, Sherlock can be reused to make Farley. Mr. Johnson can be reused for Simon Soundman.

I don't really know much about the toy industry, are they not concerned with Diamond Select Toys having also done a pretty decent cast of muppets?
I bought the Bunsen and Beaker, they seemed decent to me.
Will they be a similar scale?
>>
>>11697594
The NECA Sesame Street cast are at a very similar scale to the old Palisade figures (and the Boss Fight Studios Fraggle Rock figures). I got Diamond Select Rizzo and Pepe in this image, cause they fit this scale better.
>>
>>11697595
Looking at this again, as good as the Palisades figures are, there's definitely some improvement NECA can give them, especially in the faces. Also, I'm realizing I can never look at the Palisades Kermit figure without thinking of the "murdery mystery" Robot Chicken skit.

There might be a few more.

And there's no "yeesh" about it, there's a lot of great stuff there.

What's the problem exactly? I want all of that. Maybe not the Toony, but that's a solid score.

Fucking 1.6 mill in 2 days too.

Yeah! Those Jonah seasons were horrible. People were ready for the real stuff again.

Anyway, I keep thinking that they could get away with doing some easy Toony 3-packs. Pearl, Bobo, Brain Guy in one, Mike, Servo, Crow in another.

I would also accept a Toony Terror Torgo.

That male alien toony is all over Ross, albeit at $7.99. Everything else is probably too old except for maybe the Turtles and I saw plenty of Turtle at Ross in the last two months but don't care enough to know for certain if it was that too. They had Ash but I'm pretty sure it wasn't this one.

The Aliens ship not pictured was cool. Another Reddit anon posted a bit better haul, if you like Homelander and Simpson's musical guest stars.

Those Simpsons figures are great, I want that fucking Weird Al, and Machiko and BrokenTusk? That's a huge win.
