The other thread has far more posts, but it reads like it’s entirely one guy and then another guy who hates him. What the fuck is going on. How is there no way to stop this bullshit? I just want one tidy lego thread.

Anyone else thinks this is how star trek should have been done? Imagine this is the enterprise and had 2 minifigs, Picard and Data.

yeah we already did that bit last thread but I'll say again, in case a Lego employee is going to read it this time...
[small Trek mini-Enterprise, $70 bucks, 2 minifigs] grumble about argh $70 price for 2 minifigs, but I would still buy it. wishing it had one or two more figures
5-7 minifigs for $70 would have been a much happier, insta-buy, unbelievable freak-out situation
I guess I'll add that a $50-or-less version would be able to go on my desk at work. "advertising" the "Adult Hobby of Lego" to all my coworkers. no way would I put an enormous $400 thing at work

my mind would be blown if that was Kronos with a Klingon Bird of Prey and a generic Klingon minifig.
They could do dozens of those for Star Trek with all the various planets and ships (ahhh!)

That is because you are correct. It is one guy making 90% of the posts. And the other 10% are the anti-shill. Don’t use shill threads. I did my part against them. Do your part. There is a threshold for them where everything is weighted. They do nothing if one or two people do something but you get 5+ it goes away within minutes. The only way jannies show up is if enough people do their part.

no it's stupid as fuck because the "animal costumes" should simply have actual animal heads not a giant human-face-goes-here hole that you have to work around by removing the face and at best end up with a poor illusion of a gaping mouth. hell it would even be beneficial for TLC because they would need to waste resources on an extra minifig head that even requires prints

hate the voters, not Lego
but I guess Lego picks it from the list of 10,000 vote winners, so maybe you can hate them a little
I feel bad for all the winners who got the 10,000 votes but whomp-whomp... no set made...
that's gotta be the worst

>the final set is an insult to the original
ouch that's awful. I mean, Lego butchered it just like you said. all 10,000 voters should be mad, that's not what they voted for lol
the Lego Masters TV show "winners" designed a set with a Roman Colluseum, African Tree, something else I forget, they obviously wanted a bunch of cool Roman and new African style minifigs made, along with minifigs of themselves in a boat or whatever... And Lego turned their "winning build" into this lame set....

>>Simping for duckbricks
I just used that as an example of Lego destroying a winning build from it's original design. to be clear, I find it funny their victory got destroyed.
they purposefully pander-ed their build, shamelessly. Romans, Africans. united-world.... it sucked that the other two teams flubbed the final challenge so epic-ly. Duckbrick's build wasn't really an iconic sure-win, but all three models were kinda awful, and I guess Lego gave it to the guy with all the up-doots online or whatever.
I mean, Giant Tree? Xmas House? Lego already does those sets! what were they thinking?!
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>

>What’s wrong with a united world?
nothing. I would have liked to get new Roman Collusseum soldiers and African-themed minifigs, too. they used those things to manipulate the judges: look how box-checking we are! aren't we the best?! the whole way they not-said it out loud (by talking around it) was part of how cringe it was
it's because that whole challenge backfired so spectacularly, that they didn't do it again. no more "winning team gets their winning build as a set!" how hard would it have been to make a giant cool spaceship? unique, imaginative shape? some cool color scheme? maybe a colorful planet under it? A neat name for it? something like that would have sold zillions of copies and become an inspirational legend.

Lego ideas nowadays is pretty lame, you're not voting on that particular otter build, you are voting on the "idea" of a lego otter in some form or another. Of course that's just how TLG justifies changing the design so radically every time.
If you want to actually get the design you're voting for, the Bricklink Designer Program is much better. BLDP sets have very minimal changes from what you're voting on vs what you're actually buying, the only downside is that there's no new minifigures and the instructions are digital.

I’m hoping to hit the second hand Lego store today depending on time. I have to be there between 10-1 and they’re only open on some Saturdays.
I will try to surreptitiously get pics next time I go regardless.
It’s a front for a millionaires collection. Small town guy won the lottery and bought up the entire downtown, newspaper, radio station, and now his son has a “Lego store” with ~100k in “inventory” but it’s clearly just a front and tax dodge/write off for his personal Lego collection.

Is there an at once greater and more thrilling pain than waiting on the half-dozen niche pieces you need to finish a build?
Also are these identifiable even half built?

I want to get started with the Dune Ornithopter already but my only issue with it are those visible blue/red/yellow technic pieces all over the body. I either need to manually look at every single piece I need to order replacements for or trust some random redditor's list of the replacement parts.

He believes in (((voting))) lol
The teacher counts the votes for class president, chuckles to herself at who the kids chose, then appoints her favorite student.
That is how all (((voting))) works everywhere in the world in every country, every context. Especially true for a private company that counts its own (((votes)))

Voting is real, remember this, we are getting a lego x files set because we voted in that 90s challenge. If it was lego's choice I doubt it would've been x files that won. But x files won because the people choose it.

lol!
X-Files is the very show all about conspiracy cover ups
Lego is making so much money, I think they can risk a few honest contests every now and then. they don't know what other 80's thing to do? shrug, let's just do a contest
(they are equally clueless on YuGiOh but it will still be a full $200 set though no matter what the contest says)

So what's the etiquette on Brick Links. I bought my first thing late on Christmas day, seller sent it promptly enough ut I haven't opened it and I got annoyed with the site because I couldn't buy from some sites or message others because I was "new." I made two orders of sets and MFs and noticed I had praise and assumed it was the Christmas guy, but he didn't even say 'payment went through' or the typical BS sellers on eBay post. I realized I hadn't left him any so I literally just did that even though his box is still taped up under some other holiday boxes, and for all I know it's full of uncooked pasta.
I left praise and that he shipped promptly considering (the holiday). It did take a week. If he still gives me no feedback do I write him and ask him to say something? I wouldn't give a fuck except apparently it matters there.

Some people aren't answering me back.
When I asked in the forum if there are rules about storefront responding to contact, the response was that storefronts can have rules like people with no feedback or people with few or no purchases don't even pass their filters, so it's not that they aren't answering me - it's that they don't see my messages.
I'm wasting a lot of time searching and putting shit in cart and moving shit around to make things work and if they aren't going to see my messages, that's annoying as fuck.

Talking about colors, I ree'd hard when they released the Sian (42115) and botched the colors. Not only that they had no less than 4 different shades of that ugly green, why tf didn't they use the metallic green from 8465 and 8466? Would've been way closer to the original.
