Newfag slowly getting through TNG and it's finally found it's stride and I find the show incredibly comfy. These characters feel like friends and family that I've come to know and I enjoy the little stories no matter how silly they are. Data best boy for now but there is no one I really dislike.

I'm not sure what the fantasy scene was like around the 60s to the 80s when their lore was being developed and solidified (certainly high fantasy and dark fantasy wasn't as developed and tropey as it is now.) Video capturing software that could compress full-length movies and computers that could run that weren't even invented yet. A full-length movie would have taken like two weeks 24/7 at that speed, if it was possible then. Which it was not.
