>Favourite politically incorrect /film/?
Maybe Breakfast at Tiffany's?
Honestly I can't think of many politically incorrect films. Amusingly there are films which are literal fascist propaganda but aren't really politically incorrect, like The 47 Ronin (1941) and Patriotism (1966).
>Favourite /film/ that is underrated on Letterboxd?

Why is the first 30 minutes of this film a mandingo type raceplay with interracial cuckolding themes and the rest of it (60 minutes) a decent dark comedy? I'm perplexed by it, who thought it would be a good idea, the second part is so good that if you added some minutes to it you could make a great film even batter than his ''magnum opus'' Happiness

>Favourite politically incorrect /film/?
Apprently from what I've heard from talking to Letterboxd trannies irl Deer Hunter is apparently problematic, so I guess that given it's my second favorite film.
Other than that, definitely good ol' Africa Addio.
>Favourite /film/ that is underrated on Letterboxd?
Nacho Libre, Waltz With Bashir, and Africa Addio are surprisingly not particularly hated on Letterboxd, so I guess Passion Of The Christ given it's only 3.4 last time I checked.

Anyway, I watched picrel last night. I hadn't watched any 70s disaster slop before then apart from Airplane, and I liked it. I hated it at first for being insufferably Boomer, but once the disaster started it became surprisingly immersive given how excellent the set design was and how much the characters grew on me.
>>
>>217744748
3.4 is like 7/10, which isn't a bad rating, THOUGH
>>
>>217744395
>the saga turned into the action field after that
You say that as if Rocky IV isn't one of the greatest genre movies ever made
>>
>>217744702
they will never top it, why even try?
>>
>>217744794
>3.4 is like 7/10
I don't think that's appropriate for a film as truly monumental as The Passion, it's a crime that it's ranked far below Gladiator (4.2) even though by a mile it is a superior film.
Then again it is a "controversial" movie so I guess it makes sense that it has the same rating as Africa Addio, but still.

Yeah there's this weird, anti-sex postmodern attitude film schools have that's endemic and clearly comes from queer theory. Funny thing is it's probably done more damage to the image of Black Americans than anything apart from police bodycam footage over the past decade lol.

>black identity was retaken from racists through endless bbc posting and kween posting
BBC shit all comes from Indians living vicariously through Blacks these days, it's always a sign that a thread reeks of curry. They always do so out of spite against Whites for whatever reason.
However, Kweenposting has absolutely helped the image of Blacks and Africans online more broadly and here specifically. Helps that there's also a surprising amount of Blacks/Africans that use 4chan and they're some of the better users on this site.

It's interesting how Hollywood has traditionally been obsessed with optimising conventional beauty with it's actresses, whereas the most famous classic Japanese actresses weren't that conventionally attractive but had interesting, distinct faces. Now Hollywood is overcorrecting by casting ugly women on purpose. I wonder which group of people is more interested in socially engineering beauty standards than casting appropriately.

the great ziegfeld is the apex of 1930s lavish musical extragavanza and something so beautiful that will never be done again and it has a fucking 2.9 when it clearly should 4.0 at the minimum.

Film is rarely great art. We should cherish movies like this, Bresson pushed the medium forward with his genius style

Bresson is a hack. You just have to read his pretentious French postmodern slop of a book to realize that French are molded by kike thought

Bresson's advice for young filmmakers was this quote by Stendhal: "It's the other arts which taught me the art of writing". I try to focus on all the arts, not just film

nope. its ass. always will be.

his work doesnt invoke feeling it comes across as instructing you as to how you should feel. he is the definition of 'you just dont get it bro' then this faggot had the audacity to just continue on with the exact same formula. you dont win people over this way, you dont invoke new emotion this way. you sit there saying 'no, THIS color of red is actually a breakthrough now bro'. an absolute hack. the best thing he ever did was kill himself bc his work would be seen as the hollow and transparent horseshit it actually is if he hadnt.

This is why cinema is the ultimate pervert art. It doesn't give you what you desire - it tells you how to desire.
>>
>>217766259
there are inherent guardrails with cinema as a whole but there is a lot of good cinema out there that pushes passed these boundaries.

some of the best art is created within the confines of specific guardrails. limitations give the ability to solve problems. where as 'no rules just do some art bro' ends in absolute pretentious avante garde trash 99% of the time

>Animation. Jumbled mess of tenuously connected vignettes. Vivid colour palette, surprisingly toothless and Alice looks somewhat off. Fine, nowhere near as good as something like Pinocchio.

>Thriller. Manic performance from Harrison Ford, one spectacular explosion. Looks below par, slightly overlong and the themes in the original novel aren't communicated clearly enough. Unsurprising why this flopped, but not devoid of merit.

>Sci-fi. Fantastic action scenes, costumes and sets and production design. Blomkamp knows how to integrate FX-everything CGI is slightly out of focus, which makes the whole thing age very well. The script is bad, but the characters come across well and the central premise/ goal of the characters is well emphasised (even if it's full of obvious plot holes and very stupid characters-it makes sense for almost all of them to be stupid). Copley's character is iconic, even if he kinda died anticlimactically. There's too much effort expended on establishing Damon's backstory and the ugly, dusty streets of future LA and I wanted to see that guy getting ripped apart by the railgun, instead of just seeing his limbless corpse floating. Overall this surprised me-I've always loved the action and aesthetic of this film, but the plot was surprisingly functional and the whole thing moved along well. 5 stars!
