Kingmaker was first, they learned a lot and made many quality of life improvements with Wrath of the Righteous. That said, KM has a great setting and is very soulful.
I would say that if you feel certain you would be interested in both, to play KM first, going from WotR to KM might be a little painful. If you are only going to play one, I suppose I would suggest WotR.

Gifted is good. Skill points are easy to come by. You can raise Small Guns, FIrst Aid, Scinence, Repair and Outdoorsman to 100-101 by reading skill books, so I suggest not levelling them ntil that point. You can increase the number of skill points you get every lvl by raising Int.

I tried it when it came out. I don't personally hate Deadfire's turn-based mode apart from casting feeling bad, but PoE's felt like it still needs quite a bit of time to get to a good spot.
Didn't like the rather arcady "Battle Start" or whatever it was that pops up every time you enter combat. Sometimes the game also aggroed the entire map once I entered combat, so even if I was attacked by a single hound or something, I'd have to comb through the map on turn-based until everyone else was dead.
Assuming they make it less buggy and put in some more time to develop it, it could be decent. Still, PoE isn't really made for turn-based, so it'll never feel quite right. At least this time they're implementing a similar system to Kingmaker and WOTR where you can switch between RTWP and turn-based whenever you wish

Rather good, but has its flaws like all games. How much you enjoy it greatly depends on how much you like Pathfinder 1e / DnD 3.5 combat and their approach to builds.
Also I hope you're not looking for true 1-to-1 conversion of the TTRPG, because Owlcat bloated the stats of the enemies a lot in comparison to the TTRPG. What they call "Core" isn't actually balanced at all like the actual tabletop experience would be.
The story and characters are good enough to warrant at least one playthrough though, and there's quite a lot of replay value if you like the mechanical side of things

Technically it's better than kingmaker with exceptions. The crusade minigame is horrible. The story can be hit or miss depending on what you like. I found it impossible to really care or be invested in much of what was happening. Certain camera gimmicks later in the game wear out their welcome quickly.
If you liked kingmaker it's worth trying though.

From info I've found on the internet, it seems like you can take the Exotic Weapon Proficiency for fauchard wuthouth also having Martial Weapon Proficiency, as long as you have a Base Attack Bonus of at least 1
Problem with fauchards is that there seem to only be 4 unique ones, and to buy the +3 and +5 versions of the regular fauchard, you'd have to get to Drezen first, so you'd be using Finnean until then
