4chan's Bizarre MMOdventure is an ongoing project from a group of anons dedicated to playing through dead MMOs.
>How does it work?
Hold a tournament-style voting contest from a list of games
Play the game that wins the final round of votes for 2 weeks
After each game, we alternate lists of MMOs to vote on
A guild photoshoot will take place every Saturday, check thread for pic times
New adventure starts every other Saturday, after the week 2 guild pic
Feel free to recommend more games to be added to the lists and to encourage people to vote on a game you want to play.

Believe it was originally removed due to its free trial being overly limited and not suitable for a two week stay, or something similar. Too much content being locked behind paid-only expansions, or the level cap being artificially low, etc.
If that isn't the case, then it should be fine to get re-added, although it's worth researching before committing to anything.
>>
According to this page (https://eq2.fandom.com/wiki/Free-To-Play), guild creation is a paid feature. That would be a problem for us.
Also the auction house is members only.
All the other stuff doesn't seem too terrible or p2w.

>>2174150
I think that was the reason, yeah. You do get a bunch of free expansions, but we're not able to make a guild f2p, unfortunately. I won't add it due to that.
https://eq2.fandom.com/wiki/Free-To-Play
>>
>>
>>2174178
I might've bought time in the game in the past, which means I may be able to make a guild for us. There may also be other anons who've played EQ2 before who can do so.
If that's the case, do you think it's worth adding it back to the list at some stage?

nvm, I looked it up. I guess it's kinda sorta dead.
>>
>>2174370
>>2174406
yeah, I don't know if being dead would be a qualifier since we've played Warhammer and other very not dead games. it used to be niche and obscure games but we also played not so niche nor unknown titles.
which brings the question, what would the regulars say is the purpose of the project? from the history it seems the appeal is outside of the obscurity of titles. though playing together as a ragtag group of 4chinners has its appeal

Please tell your guys to not make trash threads on VM the moment you move on to another game. Most are cool, but some don't know how to manage a numbered thread. I'm sure there's a section of you that use discord and it's probably one of those that do it.

Gonna be hosting movie night on Thursday this time around. I'm unfamiliar with Gundam movies, but I'm sure there must be some. That aside, we could go with a Sci-Fi/Mecha theme for which we already have ~8 movies in our backlog. Feel free to suggest a couple titles you'd want to see in the poll. I'll be setting that up tomorrow.

>AdventureQuest 3D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5L0YDXyGbw
Tab-target MMO based on the old flash game, using the same world, characters, etc. Its systems are similar to other Artix games. The writing has a lot of lolrandom humor. Group size 5
>Fallen Earth Classic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQG-UGuqVHo
Hybrid action MMO set in a post-apocalyptic Grand Canyon, often compared to Fallout or Stalker. The cash shop was entirely removed at some point.
>LaTale
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z42fFGasHw
2D side-scroller MMO like MapleStory. It's less role-oriented and has a lot of horizontal progression. The game has a guide to help figure out what you're meant to be doing. Group size 6
>Monster Hunter: Frontier
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxlormDpP5M
Monster Hunter MMO originally released on the 360 and PC, it never had an official western release. It's similar to other MonHun games of the time with faster paced gameplay. Important text is translated.
>Nexus TK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_slvWmjqFI0
2D MMO from 1996. The official server has a $10/month sub, but there's a handful of private servers that don't. There's more of an emphasis on roleplay since the gameplay is simpler.
>Spiral Knights
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbuF9JoX8-8
Cartoony action MMO that plays like the old Zelda games. You explore dungeons and do puzzles to upgrade your gear, rinse repeat. Has an energy system, but you can buy energy for in game currency.
>Wakfu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GuD4_yEPAw
Turn-based tactical MMO about cute elves doing cute things, some new servers opened recently. The single-account server requires you to verify with a phone number, the other servers don't require that and allow multiboxing. Group size 6
>World of Kung Fu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq9AGpnkwlg
Tab-target martial arts MMO inspired by Chinese mythology. Not to be confused with the pixelart game that shows up first in search results. Group size 6

Original 0079 Gundam recap movies - there's 3 of them and 2+ hours each, so likely just watch the first movie if it's chosen.
Gundam Thunderbolt movies - very good animation. There's 2 of them, roughly one hour each. December Sky (first movie) is the standout.
War in the Pocket is a 6 episode OVA series but one of my favorite Gundam entries.

None of these have websites, only Discord servers. I don't think you need to join or enter any Discord to make an account and play the game. I know this is true for Renewal, I was able to make an account without entering the Discord.

You won't need to access any Discord to make an account. Select a server in the client, then enter an unused username and password into the client and your account should be created automatically. Make sure you don't forget your password because you probably won't be able to reset it.
I don't know much about the differences between servers.
Rain has the most people playing. I hear that it tries to get you to endgame as soon as possible to play the Hunting Road (roguelike mode).
Renewal is the most vanilla experience, has around 20 people.

Use the Community Edition version, it should work with all servers running the Z edition and it has a partial English translation pre-patched.

There's also a G1 server called Forward Fivers. G1 plays a bit more like the classic MHs before ZZ went full anime. Progression is slower because ZZ nerfed the older content to rush the player to endgame. The population is small.
They have their own client with their own English patch:

Before G rank you'll get away with anything, but after that? There's a clear imbalance, the new weapons Switch Axe F., Tonfas, and Magnet Spike blow most things out of the water, other good weapons are Extreme Dual Blades, Extreme SnS and Extreme Lance (for cheesing).

Sword and Shield is versatile. It can use items without sheathing and supports mostly elemental, or status builds. You have short reach and attack with lots of small light hits, so you need to stay close and rely more on good knowledge of enemy patterns.
Gunlance has greater reach and higher damage, and is better at punishing weak points like broken tails. Combat focuses on pokes and positioning until an opening appears to unleash wyvern fire.
Both weapons have sharpness issues. SnS has low overall sharpness but it goes down slowly whereas Gunlance has higher sharpness but it gets shredded when you wyvern fire.

REMEMBER
Move out of newbie zone when you hit HR2
Feed your Halk to change his element/status atk
at HR4 you unlock the tore(farm)
Go to the bar and talk to one of the NPC in there to make your personal npc hunter
take the item from the guide girl and get all the bonus stuff you can
style points are used in the back tent to get extra hairstyles/face/voices
I recommend picking the same courses as everyone else

anything with halk pot effect is ass and seen as "cheating" by others

I went to bind my controller buttons, but I couldn't use L2 or R2, and I also couldn't save.
Triued doing it from the main menu, and still couldn't use L2 or R2, so I bound R2 to DPad Down and exited, but from the main menu it saved, so now I can't use D pad Down, R2 or L2 and the game is effectively broken.

I don't know, maybe you could use Steam Input to make the triggers send a different controller button. You could even make it send a keyboard button, then map that trigger/keyboard button in the keyboard keybinds in MHF.
Alternately, maybe the Button Assignment section in the MFH keybinds could help set the controls.

I've played it and if you want to play in your own guild you absolutely need it, it's needed for things like sea battles, gunnery, commissioning ships, etc., though luckily on dubloon servers (or maybe subscription and dubloon servers have been merged now? I don't remember) there is a players exchangeable premium currency (doubloons) that you can use to unlock features instead, though you have to periodically unlock them because they expire. It does take some time to save up for these expenses though and some of the better money-making activities are locked behind them, on top of time / money investment that would be needed regardless of paying to start up your team, and you want your crew to be good at the puzzles too which may take time. I think it could be viable as a MMOventure game if one anon uses a legacy account or joins early to provide the funds needed. Performance as a crew member is purely based on puzzle game skill, except maybe the combat minigames where equipped gear changes your attacks a bit, so a head start for one person won't cause everyone to get carried unless they're very skilled (if you are good it's viable to voyage solo along with 3 AI shitters on a 7-person capacity ship)
>>
>>2196391
It felt viable enough to play f2p though, and you only really needed the more expensive unlocks for things like creating a team. You can freely join other team's voyages if they set it to open so this is only an issue with starting up your own. Skill-wise though you at least want decently skilled gunners and sea battle navigators. Which might be hard when playing with mostly new players.
>>
>>
>>2196724
There's some instructions to follow in here:
>>2165559
It's a bit cumbersome and requires you to have played a MMOdventure game before but it's the best we could come up with and agree on. It's like this because the open polls used to be sabotaged to the point of uselessness by bad actors so some verification is needed.
I kinda wish we'd tried the Google polls idea, seemed like a good compromise.

You are new to 4chan and believe only one person ever disagrees with you. Laugh out loud (lol).
It is okay for you and your clique members to form a social group and socialize together. And it is okay for others to avoid your group because of this 'core member' behavior.

What a farce. You and your friendgroup just report posts that make fun of you. Even in all that you're convinced it's not multiple people that actually don't like you. Outside of your hugbox, you're insufferable. I know it hurts all of you cause you keep reporting.

No. It means even jannies think you're retarded.
>Plenty of people are like me!
No. You inadvertently admitted to both samefagging, and to doing this out of a grudge, in that same post.
>You're all hurt!
No. You're the one permanently livid over a fucking video game.
I know you'll keep posting, because this project dominates your mind. But I also know that facing the facts infuriates you.

Rebirth seems the way to go; according to research:
>1x EXP, 2x Drop
>Considerable EXP bonus when partied, emphasizing party-play over soloing whenever possible.
>Impressive suite of new additions over the base client (maps, items, outfits, even classes)
>Respectable variety of QoL changes and improvements (60 FPS client, increased inventory space, etc)
>Hosted in Germany
Apparently official servers are a ghost town, so everything seems to point towards Rebirth.

The game doesn't seem work for a lot of people, Subagames support is nonexistent, and it's been largely abandoned in favor of private servers.

Did a quick check of Lucent Heart Rebirth to make sure it was actually up. Nothing major, just ~15-20 minutes screwing around in the tutorial and starting town.
A few things to note:
- There's four sub-servers to choose from through the Rebirth launcher: Theia, Cadena, Hecate, and Zeus. No idea what the difference is between them, if any. We'd probably want to go with Theia, solely for the chance of seeing any locals (server population looks to be very small).
- You'll be asked for a password during character creation. This is different from your account password. Make this character-specific password something very short, as it's required to open your inventory/bank every so often.
- Yourzodiac signand possibly blood type do influence stat growth, so don't just pick at random when making a character.
- There's virtually no guides on the website, but a decently extensive starter guide and general class overview on the server's >>>>Discord, for those who want such things.
-Yes, you can eventually hook-up with your MMOD waifu and have filthy, out-of-wedlock babies together via the Soulmate system, although I'm unsure when that option becomes available.

Founder needs to be Level 36, actually. The same level as when your 3rd and final Occupation Change (class upgrade) quest becomes available.

Might as well give this a spin for a few evenings. Anyone around during these odd hours? Guessing we're still a long ways off from creating a proper Guild just yet.
Looks like pressing [Space] after left-clicking a target does the most obvious action towards it. Speak/Interact for NPCs, and autoattack for monsters.
Be sure not to neglect your login bonuses. One of the earlier freebies is a free mount, which probably gets replaced pretty quickly, but at least it's cute. Better than manually walking around everywhere like a plebeian, at least.Appears you can't wear pants while also wearing a robe, lewd. Wonder how that affects itemization later on.

Alpaca Gaaaang.
Been pretty fun so far, all things considered!
The early, quest-filled goings of these Lineage II-style KMMO grinders are often pretty neat when you're rolling with a big crew, scouting-out the realm together and carving through the countryside with reckless abandon. Especially once you start reaching quests which really expect you to be in a party, of which I'm sure we'll encounter soon enough.
Quest items being shared between party members is super nice as well, majorly cuts down on the additional earlygame tedium.
Of course, this being the type of game that it is, we'll undoubtedly run into the grinding wall at some point. But for now, it's been neat gradually learning new spells, becoming familiar with the surrounding regions, and hopping from quest NPC to quest NPC all the while.

Okay, nevermind, this game is actually peak.
Not only can you sync-up with others' emotes, and not only are there like 50+ different /dance animations to mix-and-match to your liking, but there's also an ENTIRE DANCE SEQUENCER built-in to the client (with custom music importing!) to create your own group-wide dance routines. And I'm pretty sure there's some sort of dance-related PvP as well?!
These are the sorts of wildly silly, but startlingly in-depth social systems which I absolutely adore finding in these ancient MMOs.
The game itself is fun in a grindy way (moreso with others as expected), and dungeon-diving is pretty neat as well. But this right here. This is Lucent Heart's claim to fame.
We've gotta get our own theme music and matching dance number dialed-in for the end-of-week Guild photos, I'm tellin' (You).

The kindly local who included us in her custom dance numbers also flaunted a few couple-specific emotes as well, after we burned a hole through the cobblestone floor.
Some were cutesy, others were more mature, and one involved going full dommy-mommy and stepping on your partner's groveling head. All expressions for all types of couples, I guess.

MonHun and Gundam lasted in part because they were MonHun and Gundam.
>What about D&DO?
Also a popular license with a relatively known and established MMO under its belt. None of them are fair comparisons to make, when our usual stock and trade here is obscure 2000s-era Korean/Taiwanese/Chinese imports which only MMO enthusiasts have ever heard of before.

Animyst looks fun, pic related.
Shroud Of The Avatar was designed by Sir British himself, Lord Richard Garriot.
Perfect World is an MMO created by Perfect World International, operating out of the perfect world that is China. It's one of the earlier chink MMOs that was open to western audiences.

Animyst might not have enough content to justify a full two week run.JSHdid a piece on it a while back, and it looked closer to an unbelievably janky and esoteric rendition of the original Mortal Online than anything. Might be cool to mess around with for a night or two, but probably not a good fit as a main game.
