This site looks really good. The idea of using 3D models to dynamically move both the character and the view/perspective seems insanely useful.
However, I'm confused on whether the site is free or not. The home page says
>Free, Online, Simple, Easy, Fast
But the "pricing" section says $15 monthly, $100 lifetime, $150 yearly.
So is it free or not? If it's not, where can I get this stuff for free?
Thanks.
>>
>>7866737
Looks really good.
I just started learning drawing a couple of days ago, but if you want my critique, I think the first bed looks kind of squished, as if it were rotated to the right. I think it should look longer and the upper portion (where the pillows are) should look shorter because it's farther away from the center where the POV is. I don't know if I explained myself well.
I was having the same thought of my own practice box drawings. It's something I'll try to fix.

Thanks for the kind words and advice. You’re right. Here’s the ref. I def made the first bed a bit shorter without noticing. I see what you’re saying with the pillows bc they are shorter in the ref as well
>>
>>
>>
>>7866749
I mean you yourself are biased so other’s opinions are important. I didn’t see my work as beautiful until others pointed it. I think you should have your own confidence and image but it is important to know how your work is perceived
>>
>>7866749
I would say some aspects of beauty are subjective, but a lot of beauty is objective. Most great artists will eventually converge and reach a point where they create the same or very similar art which is objectively beautiful.

thank you, i'm pretty afraid of becoming a chris chan tier autist that is unable to see the glaring flaws/lack of appeal in their own work. Sometimes I wish I could see the world through the eyes of others and in a sense that isn't even limited to art, i'm just curious what people find beautiful and focus on in their day to day life that I wouldn't give the time of day.
>>7866737

Wanted to add, you definitely have appeal. Your work is just too uniform in some places. Like putting two stars to the left and right of the bigger ones, both placed similarly. Clothing buttons all look the same. Similar clothing folds throughout. Try to learn how to make your work look more random and dynamic by studying from life and being more loose when you draw.

I guess I got her head tilt slightly wrong, or I placed her left eye too high, I can't quite tell which. In any case is practicing from reference like this an ideal path to improving? No reference just looks like a mess but this takes me so many revisions with an eraser that I worry I won't actually be training my eye. Been drawing a week or so

Tilted heads are the work of the devil. At this point i'm just trying to bruteforce it by memorizing the lines because some of the constructions make no sense. I'm using a reference and the constructions comes out all weird regardless. I think EO58 builds them with squares instead of going straight for the cranium.

If you make things that you think look cool you can never go wrong. Your taste will refine as you create and consume the creations of masterful work. You just have to be honest with yourself about if something looks good to you or not and then try to get it to as close to what you think looks good as possible. It's how you develop style, soul, etc because it's something you made that only you can create. Your experience of the world has given you the ability to create things only you can.

looser mindset. it's not unlike twitter fags love for identity categorisation. the old cg and sijun forums were mixed with artists ranging from total beginners to pros. beginners could learn a lot from pros and pros learned a lot by teaching.
at worst you could just ignore bad drawings in a thread, at best you could give them genuine advice.
>>
>>7866930
there are no good artists in this shithole, the ones that sort of do passable drawings are left brained retards, they don't construct, they've been copying the same poses/faces/characters for decades i'm afraid they can't teach you anything...other than never giving up... eww.

this is wrong
beg -> someone who dislikes his own art and cant really draw what he wanted
int -> someone who is okay with his own art and can draw what he wanted but still sees basic mistakes in his own work
adv -> no more basic mistakes grinds that artistic expression stone to a shiny polish only makes only marginal improvements
pro -> same as adv but a soulless wagie

Are you familiar with the term symbol drawing? I think the eyes and eyebrows look like that.
To combat this, redo the eyes with the brush you used to colour and render everything (in doing so painting over lines from the drawing stage).
Also it looks like one boob is missing.
Aside from that pretty good. I like the hair. Do you want an edit?

Feels like the best path for /beg/s is to force them to master form through line work alone. Lots of beginners seem to be happy with just "lines on paper" and not "line work," which would solve everything on down the line. Solution? Idk man get a pen and force yourself to understand form expressed by line while keeping perspective in tact. Use that to learn anatomy so that you end up with a black and white figure that looks good with nothing else on it, then render.
>>
>>
>>7866776

>>
>>
>>7867048
Basically, yeah. I wouldn't put that name on it because it bounds it specifically to the Peter Han style, which is fine because his still is great, but if we want it to be transferrable to people it might be better described as getting good at draughtsmanship generally. The bar wouldn't even be Peter Han, it would be someone like Alex Toth, who deliberately strove to express form through line with as little work as possible.

I feel you anon I really do. There’s always gonna be someone better than you at *something*, which is why the goal should be to be the best artist you can be, because that’s all you can control. Its important to understand that your art journey is unique and that you will grow at a different pace and in a different way than others. There’s a lot of great things about your art but you’re not seeing it because you’re too busy looking at other’s. Once you take the time to realize how truly special your own journey is, you won’t even want to compare. It takes time but I’m sure you’ll get there

Been trying to mix in a page of cartoon faces a day to relax and play around a bit. Maybe I'm just stupid today, I felt like I was having trouble pulling anything interesting out of the references. A couple decent ones a couple trash. Do people find more value out of studying a style first from an artist they like and trying to emulate it or just winging it an experimenting.

Nah. Reads like something I would write and how I felt when I used to join magmas but that isnt me.
You have a very good way with forms and appeal and curves and I think you are ready to do more finished drawings because your sketching is already solid.
Pic related something of mine you redrew . I saved it in my redraws folder in the "appealfag" subfolder, I cherish it.

so i started reading Figure Drawing For Artists by Steve Huston today (stopped at the start of chapter 3) and after tracing the artwork he provided for a bit, i tried practising doing a pose
admittedly some things confused me bc im retarded and i need to read more carefully, but i tried doing things with a long, curvy flow and make sure the lines don't oppose each other. also tried not chicken scratching but it is a hard habit to break.
im not sure if this is good or even appealing and surely full of mistakes (the face in particular looks wrong to me), but whenever i draw a person it takes me a really long time and this took 23 minutes. i wasn't aiming for making things 1:1 perfectly accurate but more so having fun. if this is a bad habit or not i can't tell; it will be another one to the pile
thanks for reading my blog

Only real thing that bothered me was the lack of hips and adjusting some of the shapes on the tail poof and thigh. Feel free to make any changes you'd like, I'm sure anon would appreciate his furry being as appealing as possible.

I have a question about Michael hampton's book vs his videos since they seem to contradict each other.
For instance in the book he talks about using repeating lines for the sake of rythm and composition of the figure as well as to carefully guide the eye down the piece, but in the videos he outright says he uses like 17 lines for a whole figure gesture.
Also in the book he does divide the spine in the 4 segments but still depicts it as a contiguous line, whereas in the videos the spine can be totally separated.
Am I being autistic and taking the book as gospel when it's just a toolbox with which to find my own path?
Pic related, some of his gestures from design and invention which also don't really seem to follow the method he outlines.

>wip for some anon.
There are moments where I get to enjoy drawing when it doesnt make me want to rip my fucking eyes off. Mostly on sundays when I am rested from wageslaving and get to have the day for myself.
I have come to realize that my drawings almost always look dirty because I scratch and doubt way too much while erasing and remaking most of my lines. Everything looks ugly and choppy while other more talented artists always have gorgeous sketches.

>>
>>7867640
>>7867641
His gesture lessons are pretty confusing and I don’t like the fact that be puts it first in his book because it causes so much overthinking such as this. You need to have a decent understanding of anatomy before tackling gesture and honestly it isn’t gonna make “sense” to you until you know why he’s making the decisions in his gestures that he does. My advice is to not spend too much time on gesture unless absolutely necessary, such as if you want to animate or something. Like maybe use it as a warmup or something but don’t expect your drawings to be on the level or same quality as his for a long time
>>
>>
>>
>>7867652
It’s not anon I won’t lie. The good thing is you’re on the right track especially anatomy wise but right now you still have a lot of improvement that needs to be made. Like the knowledge is there but the execution and stylization isn’t. Maybe do some studies and try drawing from life so your drawings aren’t so stiff
>>
>>7867640
>>7867641
>in the videos he outright says he uses like 17 lines for a whole figure gesture.
Keep in mind that the gesture is a frame to build the figure on. The 17 lines is like a 30 second gesture. The figures in your second image are if he developed it more into a 3 minute gesture.
>in the book he does divide the spine in the 4 segments but still depicts it as a contiguous line
In the book I believe it's just different visual examples so you can associate the simple lines with a spine as a 3d form. How he does it in his videos is easier and faster, in my opinion.
>Am I being autistic and taking the book as gospel when it's just a toolbox with which to find my own path?
I think there's merit in following it until you understand it and can use it well, but in the end it's definitely a toolbox. Use what you like, toss the rest.

Do people other than artists care much about art in webcomics? Thinking back to before I started drawing, I barely looked at the art. If it was unappealing and the story was good, the art would grow on me. If the story was bad, I dropped it even if the art was good.
>>
>>
>>7867659
>The art draws people in
That's true, I do remember picking up stories for the art even if I didn't care about it much. And it's hard to sell the quality of your story at a glance the way you can with the art.

Funnily enough, in a proko video he does actually note that other popular art books like Figure Drawing for all its Worth put gesture much farther back along. I guess it makes sense to understand what you're abstracting before you try to abstract it. Thanks for the comprehensive answer, you actually covered other things that I didn't even bring up.
>>7867658
I didn't even think to consider it was just a difference in time. Pretty obvious in hindsight.
All that being said I think the above anon is right, I was trying to get to the bottom of something that I don't have the foundation to actually grasp just yet, fun as it can be. At least I'll probably get a huge power boost by bothering to learn anatomy and such.

The red lines indicate your blue line perspective, which in my estimation is all over the place. Following the pool's line using blue perspective lines and the handlebars' heights, we can try to establish the true vanishing point, or at least an approximation of one. If they are supposed to be the same height, using autism as a prerequisite, we can place two line from the vanishing point to measure the length of one of her bodyparts, in this instance her upper arm. Using this as a guideline, we can approximately calculate the high needed for the other character to be a realistic height, which he seems to be. Be mindful, I'm doing this on my phone, so it's not perfect.
Or you could just accept the fact that they just need to sort of correct, and not be an autistic sperg about correct height. It looks fine, anon. The perspective you did draw however, makes no sense in comparison to the rest of the scene, if we suppose that the handlebars are the same height as eachother.

I have been drawing for a long time but it was mostly doodles from imagination and only the head. I only started doing it daily with references and a clear goal in mind late september last year.
what really helps keep myself motivated is doing daily redraws/copies/idk of screenshots, shitposts and other things i like with a 20 minute time limit because i prefer painting way over drawing. drawing itself makes me want to kms
but then i put those two together (left jan 14 2025, right today) and i can't help but wonder if i've even improved lmfao. anyway this turned into a blogpost
i did try hampton figure drawing but couldn't quite understand the goal if this makes sense? huston is more straightforward with the exercises and whatnot and i did grasp some of his explanations, even if the result is lacking

Like I said I dont really know what I'm doing, so I would appriciate if I could get feedback in the right direction.

look at the highlights on the upward faces on the hills around the center of the image. you've painted the hills behind them in a brighter value, but really they are close to the same value. here is your reference photo, reduced to 5 colors so it's clearer to see
I don't know what medium you are using, but if it's a medium that let's you paint over previous layers like oils or acrylics that's a lot easier to work with than mediums like watercolor.

Thankyou thankyou! 4 to 5 hours if I rush it. Though these four pages maybe took me less and it shows. I mean, I don't use any references and I don't do revisions of the figures and compositions, everything is ultra crude and done in one take. Yes I guess I could do figures with my eyes closed, lol, but I have a problem, a "ludic" I can't do a proper figure in a serious or realistic way if I'm shitposting like this, I do weird proportions and ultra exaggerated details and gestures, every time, I guess that keeps the thing entertaining and "fresh" to me. Often I see the figures later and I say that looks weird as fuck lol. But it's fun when I do it xD

PAGE 7. Alright, I'm looking back at the four pages with fresh eyes now and, it's shit! LOL! One take, one try, no second shot, that's the price to pay. But I need to do this story quick. I'll try to put more effort in the next pages, (the ones that matter), I'll do one per thread (or two) to raise the quality.. I hope

Keys to Drawing
Project 2: Copying.
Henri Matisse
I didn't do the lines of her dress exactly.
Man, this book is magical. I finally feel like I have the potential to learn how to draw something.
Now if I could only get out of the habit of hesitating before drawing for about an hour or two. It's like apart of the process now, like some sort of ritual or something.

Let your mind relax and wander around inner thoughts. Read a book, Reflect on the fact that your mind is a totally free realm where everything can happen and everything can be created. And then understand how blessed you are to have that artistic skill of yours that allows you to open a portal from that world in your mind into this dimension of reality.

>but i don't wanna be just good enough
Yes you do. Being "good enough" means that whatever you want to do is suddenly doable, you become free, level skill boundaries are meaningless. Because it's about your own fun time. Not anyone else's. Imagine some random no-one telling you "you're not good enough to do that, stop". Trying to dictate the conditions of your own freewill and free time. FFFFFFFFFUCK THEM. TO HELL AND BACK... ...hee-hee
>wonder if this scenario gave people gore fetishes
I don't understand gore, I understand what the threat of it implies, the expectation, the peril of being dangling on the edge of the unthinkable. That's the whole point. Breaking that emotional construct with just plain sadistic gore, destroys and terminates all of that build up anticipation, and the reason to feel whatever you can feel goes away if the game is over. Because it is a game, a game to feel, compassion, angst, love, intense morbid eroticism, or whatever.
Anyway you made me do a comic out of the blue. Now, "I" am wasted, lol
>>7868850
>''martyrs''
>1968, man those where weird years in cinema desu
Yeah I saw that, I hated it of course xD, I can't watch that stuff, it is too violent, for me it needs to have a sensual angle, like in old movies, like Boxing Helena, or that Fellini movie, or even the original Caligula.
I'm sure you will love "Spirits of the death" Specially the last story "Toby Dammit", the only good one really lol,
>whats your stance on breath-play?
Holy shit Monka, I read that while I was doing that last panel of this comic, it freaked me out, lol. Yeah, asphyxiation is big, because of the subtlety of the procedure, it isn't gross, gory or violent. but it takes a lot of visual storytelling, it needs a long sequence to make it sexy

Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there anything that helped you?
Should i ask my doctor to reduce my dosage?

If you're photocopying contours and lines for no reason then yes.
>I CANT DRAW FOR FUCKING SHIT ON MY OWN OTHER THAN SYMBOL DRAWN KINDERGARTEN GARBAGE
Not telling you to endlessly grind boxes but try to learn basic perspective and practice manipulating forms on the page and constructing with primitives. Symbol drawing is caused by seeing the page as a 2D space.

If you get a reply from a mass replier it's a fucking autistic janny doing their "job" of writing out a huge post of nothing that links back to posts they don't even engage with meaningfully, but you get a dopamine bump so now it's super sacrosanct

Reading for the plot... and the hot art!
It feels even more special, since I think one of my pieces prompted your idea.
I'm excited to see where this one goes... since a cult is involved... the summoning of a succubus? Appeasing a hedonistic vampire lady living among mortals?

Being a footfag means you are much more judgemental towards feet drawings, you should not avoid it so that you will be able to sate your hunger for feet
