Who or what is the main threat in the current RPG campaign you're playing in?

At first it was a barbarian incursion, but currently we just walked into some kind of fucked up cult demonic sacrifice portal after uncovering some kind of conspiracy in the city, so maybe the barbarians are still somehow involved but I think that something greater is gonna be main villain.

Reminds me of mike brooks putting sargon of akkad in a book as a chaos marine. I would even believe it, if I believed you played anything. But funny nonetheless, thank you anon.

They just defeated the demon looking guy top center, as he was the field general of the horde occupying the city of Murann, which they wanted to liberate as a stated goal of the party before the campaign began (one is a cleric of Selune). This horde was there solely to destabilize the only nation with carracks able to cross over the Trackless Sea where the villains are properly baseduntil they fix a spelljammer and head to the moon in a plot to cripple Selune. They won a battle in the open field and slew the BBEG's henchman but there's still the matter of about 20,000 orcs and goblinoids that are still occupying the walls.
What happens after that is up to the players of course.

Well in a proper sandbox world these goons aren't just twiddling their thumbs either.

It's perfetly normal to refer to groups of sessions as arcs if the things happening in them can be summed up in a connected plot progression organically formed during game play. You fucking retard that never plays, you can at least try to read a PDF and throw some dice by yourself, maybe you would fit in better.

It's a Jigsaw-esque serial killer who has developed a mathematical equation to identify people who are at risk of becoming a vector for supernatural contagion. These people are murdered before it can happen and they pose a threat, which makes it very hard to tell if the killers system works at all.It does work.

Planeswalker that has been trapped because the long forgotten dimensional door he thought he could use is several miles below the surface. He is currently trying to get the components needed for a spell that would invert that entire mass of rock including the kingdom my PCs are living in.

You mean a campaign, you poseur? Arcs are a term for anime and manga storylines. Only a retarded faggot pretending to be a hardcore real gamers would believe that an RPG could just be structured into a series of "plot arcs" about singular antagonists at a time.

I don't know man. I don't know.
Our oppressive of traditionally good races monster empire is besieged by
1. Metallic dragon armada.
2. Good race extremist terrorist/freedom fighters
3. A world ending jormungard-like entity worshiping cult.
And apparently, the monotheistic universe is a lie, other dieties are vying for control.

NOT TO MENTION MY ILLITHID PC IS NOT THAT CONFIDENT ON THE ELDER BRAINS' MOTIVES.
AND HIS VAMPIRE SIDE BITCH PROVED TO BE A GOOD GUY POSING AS EVIL JUST TO SURVIVE
AND OUR RIVAL GROUP'S WIZARD IS MY HOST'S WIFE
SO, yes. The villain is the DM.
That's not even counting that in the first session the PCs kinda saw the players. Somehow.

Yeah I’m running a pretty jank Gundam ripoff using Shadowrun 4e since the magic works good for newtype shenanigans and the technomancer/cyberware works for cybernewtypes. Party has gotten to the point where they’re absolutely chewing through grunts, so I figured hey, throw a mobile armor at them, that’s what the show does. Have an enemy grunt, I fucking love monoeyes

I'm the DM. Most of the party thinks it's the Four Horsemen, or at least War, since those are the main NPCs they've been dealing with, and War has been the main antagonist so far.
In actuality, one of the party members is playing as the real main antagonist, Apophis, in disguise, nudging the party into subduing the threats to his reign.

It was always the Wizards (which, in my setting, are a race, not a class), the only beings in existence capable of using arcane magic at all. Wizards only look like humans, but they are actually invaders from another dimension (which is essentially the Far Realm with the serial numbers filed off), and they are behind everything that's ever gone wrong in the world since the beginning of time. Monsters? Half of them were their creation, the others are aliens that got manipulated into invading the setting or summoned into it. Crime? They rule the entire underworld of the entire planet, crime lords everywhere are just chumps that are instantly recruited, blackmailed into compliance, killed and replaced, or made to be puppets the moment they expand their influence beyond a single shithole neighbourhood. Wars and political plots? Every single government, religion and political movement is completely subverted from top to bottom, from the smallest barbarian clan to the biggest empires. The three apocalypses that almost extinguished all life that happened in the past? All kickstarted by Wizard plots that got out of hand. Wizards are essentially reality-warping supremacists that see the world as their playground and regard everyone else as lesser beings, but made incredibly more dangerous than regular-ass arcane casters from other settings by the fact that they are completely immune to infighting (they are all fanatically loyal to their species), so they will always coordinate to screw over said inferiors. But my players are completely retarded, so they will never figure out all this shit, they are still convinced sorcery works like the Force and that Wizards are Just humans that can cast spells despite overwhelming evidence of the contrary, just like the average joe. Maybe they actually are lesser beings...

I'm not doing it, at least directly, I will continue to disseminate hints. So far, I've had them met with a doctor that was deemed a charlatan and a conspiracy theorist because he autopsied a dead wizard and found out the truth (the fact that he actually is a bit of a sperg doesn't do him any favors), who they scoffed at, and have them procure a copy of a banned history book for a baron that revealed how Wizard culture just appeared out of nowhere following the fall of the elven empire three millennia ago, and that members of said culture spread evenly around the world instead of forming tribes, prompting the author to advance some cautious hypotheses of a otherworldly origin of arcane spellcasters (they didn't want to read it).
